Jennifer arrived for an estimate and is very pleasant and has great social skills. HOWEVER, I think the quote given for asbestos removal is exorbitant and takes advantage of inexperienced homeowners. My first clue was when she immediately said a project like this will be "thousands and thousands" and primed us to go straight for making a claim with insurance. When I received the quote, it was for just over $11K. This is compared to competition asbestos-removal companies quoting prices in the $2,300 range for the same work. I highly suggest you get multiple estimates before committing to this company. Do not let someone use the word "asbestos" to scare you into thinking it's normal to pay extremely high prices. Do your research. Don't panic nor be hasty.

I found the business operations team to be very difficult to work with. First, they came out to test the suspect tiling. The deal was that they'd release the report upon payment, and payment would not be due until the report was ready for release. After I paid, however, I did not receive the report, and it took additional 3 days for them to release it. They claimed that I didn't receive the report because they had the wrong email address for me--but somehow they were easily able to email me the receipt for my payment. Next, on the morning of the removal, the crew did not show up at the appointed time. After a couple calls to the company, I found out that I had missing paperwork, so they simply skipped the appointment without giving me a heads up. Granted, they sent me no documentation until late the night before. After a lot of complaining, I managed to get them to come out that afternoon. Finally, the crew finished the asbestos abatement and simply left without notifying my wife that they were done. It took some prompting to get them to send us an invoice. You could probably find equally good work with less hassle elsewhere. I don't think I'd hire these guys again.

They've repaired lost shingles, and wind damage to the soffits. When they replaced the roof for my house and garage it was supposed to be a two-day job. I had surgery scheduled for early on the second day. But they doubled the crew to finish the job in one day so I could recover at home without the noise. That was unexpected and greatly appreciated. They also quickly fixed leaking downspouts that were clogged from leaves. About a week ago they installed gutter guards. Each roofer they've ever sent for estimates and/or service has been an honest pro. Jerome is responsive, great at troubleshooting and patient when explaining things. Every transaction with Roof Solutions has felt like a bargain to me.

Michael Wiggs,…read moreowner/project manager, was assigned to my project and he was/is extremely unprofessional, nothing was on time, disrespectful behavior towards myself during disagreements and provided horrible customer service throughout the entire project. I would not highly recommend working with him and in fact if you've already received services from him please seek legal counsel. The contract I signed stated that this business is LICENSED, BONDED and INSURED in DC, which it is not. The license provided on my contract expired in 2006 per DCRA website. This inaccurate information is fraud. Michael Wiggs consistently reneged on many of the contract terms which were previously negotiated at the time I signed the contract. My contract was signed May 15,2020. The contract stated the projected start date was June 22, 2020. Work did not begin until August 10th and a new contract was not created. In addition, the contract's projected duration of the project was 2 weeks, weather permitting. My project was not completed until November 11th (4 months for a small bathroom remodel). In my opinion this was due to Mr. Wiggs poor project management. The first 6 weeks of the project I was out of my Condo because this is my only bathroom and the financial hardships placed on me at a time when COVID-19 was shutting down the DC area put a ton of stress on me. I was paying for living arrangements I could not utilize and I did not budget to be gone for the amount of time I had to be. I never received any compensation for this failure of Michael Wiggs to maintain the project timeline. When I returned to my unit I only had a toilet. There was no vanity, sink, or shower installed. One of my allotments was pocketed without a service or product being given. The contract mapped out 6 disbursements of money. However, once the project was almost half way through I was told by my contractor they could only withdraw 2 times from my loan and we needed to withdraw asap before my money was gone. Lastly, in the contract under "items not included" permit cost was stated, but within my line items permit was listed at a cost of $0. I eventually had to have DCRA close out my permits because he refused to close them out. There was always consistent miscommunication and lack of accountability from Michael Wiggs business, every issue was met with contempt instead of trying to find a solution. After all of this occurred, Michael Wiggs attempted to bully me by having a lawyer, Perry L. Foreman Jr., reach out to me to settle in the amount of $1,080.77 or they would move to sue me to obtain what they believe is what they are owed. Please understand as a consumer an unlicensed business cannot sue you in a jurisdiction that they aren't licensed. That's literally the purpose of the license so that the business can be protected by local laws. I did not give in to this tactic and instead I reached out to DCRA and the Consumer Protection Agency. Both of these local government offices have been extremely disappointing because they act as if they can't take action on the exact situations they were established to perform. The intentions of this review are to make all consumers aware of his business practices, understand local government offices will not be of any assistance and the best way to resolve these issues is to not get involved with them. When looking for a contractor please contact a property management company for a referral or obtain a referral from a trusted family member/friend. Make sure to obtain a business license, business insurance and scope of work from all contractors.

It could have been done on Wednesday, but it rained all day. The pricing was so fair that I didn't even need to negotiate. I had not looked into chimney repair before, but a bird entering your house like it's Santa will make you consider installing a chimney cap. Joe explained chimney caps to me like I was five years old, in the most respectful way. He explained how the chimney would need two caps because usually the furnace vents through the chimney. He explained how to check for myself in the basement. He was right. He also explained the chimney crown and that it needed to be replaced. I wondered how he could know that since no one climbed to the chimney during the estimate. I asked for pictures before the work started. The crown had cracks but served the house well for 80 years. He was right again. His team showed up, explained the scope of work, gently moved our plants out of the way, and got to work. We also had several bricks that needed to be replaced. That required the team to remove the broken brick, spread mortar, and install new bricks. They match the house well. I napped in front of the fireplace while they worked. I could only hear light tapping from the brick removal process. They sent photos while the work was in progress. Great photos that I will share with you below. Joe and his team exceeded my expectations. The hardest part of getting the chimney repaired was submitting payment - because no one asked for money upfront. 10/10 I would recommend Victorian Chimney Services for your chimney upkeep needs.
