You will get a phone call to confirm the day before your appointment, but I decided to call since it was 3pm and wanted to be sure someone was going to come to my property on time. I was given the timeframe of 10-12p for someone to arrive to start the process. Jason arrived at 11a. He quickly began to set up and pre-treat. He indicated that all windows should be open for air ventilation to help with the drying. I told him that my husband and I had to run errands and he was OK with us leaving. We just needed to remit payment before and he will just close up after he's done. He took my card info and did his work. When we came back, all was done. Quick and efficient. These guys are very professional, easy to deal with and were immediately physically here at office to work on our building. Both the response flood team and restoration teams are great most especially Basil who brought in those massive blower fans, dehumidifier machines and took off our floor boards. Also, the reconstruction guy named Victor G. who came in to install our flood boards and painted then in the time that we requested. I don't know if they are yanking my chain on the price tag, but I've had some bad experiences with contractors in SD that totally overcharged me on minor home stuff. I'm Asian, I don't wear my shoes inside the apt. There were some dirt stains at the entrance that's about it. These guys came in cleaned everything and left the place spotless. We had a difficult situation about 3 years ago involving moisture vapor incursion into our concrete foundation. D-Mac came highly recommended and that was a solid endorsement. The work that they did was explained to us and completed with total control of the situation. They did floor surface removal, reconstruction of a wall footer, painting, re-stuccoing....they were on time and worked cleanly. In the completion of the job, some small damage was done to oversized mirrored closet doors. Dan(the owner) indicated when it was time to replace the doors, he would make sure it was done correctly. It took us a number of years to get the vapor problem diagnosed and remediated by other companies that specialize in such things, but it was handled professionally and completely. After this, I called Dan to let him know that we were ready to the have doors installed and he had his team install new closet doors that I ordered, and they picked up from Dixieline Miramar, PERFECTLY(and at no cost for labor) within two business days. Dan is a straight shooter and will tell you what you need for a project, and will not push you towards unnecessary work. He stands behind the work his business does and we would use his services again in a heartbeat if they were required. read more

I only recently started writing reviews on Yelp again, and have to update the review on D-Mac, unfortunately. I feel badly that I didn't update it all these years, as I know I rely on the information in other people's reviews to help me make decisions about what companies to use. I also feel awkward about it because my interactions with the owner were very positive at the time and I was originally very happy with his company's work. However, within 2 months of our new shower being installed, the shower/ tub handle fell off. Since I felt like the owner of D-Mac had helped us out, I didn't call to let him know about that first failure. I just let it go. Then we began getting black mold in the grout (where the tub meets the fiberglass? shower wall). I tried everything to get rid of it, even calling the manufacturer at one point for advice. I was embarrassed and frustrated by it, but I thought it was just that I wasn't cleaning it right somehow. It didn't occur to me that it was an issue with installation. Then three years after we had our bathroom remodel, we discovered a leak under the bathroom sink that had gone undetected for awhile and damaged the cabinet, causing mold. When my husband took in the sink faucet to Lowe's, they said whoever had installed it had installed it incorrectly, adding some kind of molding or something that wasn't supposed to be there. And we asked for advice about the black mold at the same time, and showed them what type of shower we had (recommended by D-Mac, they bought it at Lowe's). Turns out the type of shower that was installed was not supposed to have caulking/ grout. D-Mac's employee had installed it incorrectly, again. Sometimes I guess you don't really know how good a job has been done (or not done) until months and even a couple years after the fact. Maybe the owner just had a really incompetent employee at the time, but if so, he should have done a better job of supervising him. We told him we were fixing it up so we could move, but ended up staying in San Diego. I can't help wondering if he either 1) didn't bother checking his employee's work since it was a low budget job or 2) realized the mistakes, but figured we'd be long gone anyway. Either way, it didn't turn out to be a good experience after all. The irony is we were afraid when we originally hired them that we had mold issues in the bathroom - but didn't. We only ended up with mold- under the bathroom sink cabinet and in the shower cracks that weren't supposed to have caulking- as a result of using their services. read more

It was Christian's personality, professional attitude and the reasonable quote that made me decide to work with D-Mac. It wasn't a small job, as the water came into the room, so we had to tear out drywall of a large area and clean them up. Christian sent a great team, it only took them a few hours to set-up and tear off the wall, the drying took about 3 days, and then they used another half day to repair the wall, paint them and clean up everything. The work was really well done as it looks like nothing had ever happened to my home. Right at the end of the project, another water damage unfortunately happened in the evening. This time was even worse, as it impacted several rooms. I had an emergency call with Christian in the night and the team took care of it the next day. They were really responsible, making sure every piece of wood is dried before the replacement. I was selling a house and there was a leak that my tenants didn't tell me about. There was a small patch on the outside stucco where the leak damage was visible. The buyers insisted that everything be repaired and checked for mold. Most of the places I called wanted to tear down and rebuild the whole corner of the house. We're cleaning the house, top to bottom, in preparation for the in-laws to visit. We realized that we had better get our carpet cleaned or else they'd think we live in a barn. After much research and quote-gathering, we went with these guys and are very glad we did. Our one carpeted room (13x13) has been through three dogs in the past year; one dog was going through chemotherapy, which meant LOTS of bodily fluids and partial-solids coming out all over. One dog had a digestive issue that lasted for a few months. Then we got a puppy, who not only took a short time to house train BUT who likes to bring in plants from outside, shake the dirt and roots everywhere, and roll around in it. So, basically, our bedroom was more like a bathroom/garden/sickroom. It was NASTY. horrendously so. Now, i can't say that D-Mac saved our carpet. it still reeks. it's just that it reeks a little less. And, to be totally clear, the D-Mac rep we spoke to was very honest about not being able to save a carpet once it had been through Armageddon. in order to save it, we'd have to rip it up and replace the padding underneath. we can't afford that, so the steam clean with disinfectant was the next best thing. and, although it does still stink, it looks really good. it looks almost new, actually! no stains, no sign of its painful past, just a nice clean looking floor that stinks a little less than it used to. in addition to cleaning up our carpet, the fella cleaned our couch for a reasonable $10/foot. getting both our 8 foot couch and bedroom done cost us $150, which was $25-$150 less than we were quoted anywhere else. the couch came out wonderfully - no stains, no smell, nothing. it's like a new couch, minus the new couch smell. it just doesn't smell of anything at all, which is pretty cool. it doesn't stink, it doesn't smell like cleaning products, it's just there, not assaulting the nose in any way. wonderful! the man who came was extremely professional and quick; he was on his own, and so he had to unload the supplies, move furniture, do the work, and load everything back into the van all on his own while i stood outside with the dogs (and very excitable puppy, who thought that the hoses were way cool). he was in and out in about an hour! it was fantastic. i'd highly recommend them to anyone. read more

So call days in advance if you want to have some flexibility with your appointment time! The people on the phone were very friendly and professional. So I was a tad confused, because I didn't know D-Mac Restoration and Dano's Carpet Cleaning actually work together. So, when Dano's called me, I thought, "Didn't I hire D-mac to do the job?". But they are indeed one in the same. The carpet cleaner (I want to say Dano is his name) actually wanted to move UP the appointment time that day because he was available to do the job right away. That would have been awesome for me, except that I was still in LA at the time. So I jumped into my car and drove down the 5 like a madman. Unfortunately, I was hit with stretches of traffic from San Clemente down to Carlsbad. I felt terrible because I knew he was waiting for me at my complex to start the job. I called on rather short notice and was able to get a carpet cleaning scheduled in 2 days. The employee who answered my initial call was very helpful and asked about any problem areas I was concerned about so she could include them in the job and also explained their current special. I was given a window of 2-4 in the afternoon. Isaac called me about 20 minutes ahead of time to let me know he was on his way and showed up promptly at 2. He took a walk through of my house and i showed him the areas I was concerned about. I had a red juice stain that he didn't know if he could get out, but he ended up doing an excellent patch job with some extra carpet I had instead of attempting it. I called around 9am and they said they would be here by 12.....They ended up being a little late, but I didn't deduct any stars because they were in constant communication with me, so I ran errands while I waited. No biggie. They were fast (and efficient) and best of all the price was very competitive! Everyone I spoke with in the office was very personable and informative. I've used companies before that leave the carpet a wet sloppy mess, but D Mac was different. The carpets were "damp" but were dry enough to replace the furniture by the same evening. We researched carpet cleaning places on Yelp and all the positive reviews sold us on giving D-Mac a try. We have used others in the past from Stanley Steamer (horrible) to various small companies. Only one did a good job but the cost was $400. D-Mac cleaned a large front room (white carpet) and a small living room as well as steps for $90. Are you kidding me? I had some stains on the carpet so the guy asked what the stains were and chemically treated them based on the type of stain. They also cleaned the floor runners without us even asking and the entire job took about 60-70 minutes from start to pulling out of the driveway. It takes other companies half that time just to get started. We will definitely use them again, and my wife is planning to use them for her employers medical office. read more

I called D-Mac/Dano's Upholstery Cleaning in a panic after my cat suddenly decided to start marking our house, including on one of our new couch cushions. Chuck offered excellent customer service and asked me a few questions about my couch over the phone to see if it was something that I might be able to clean by myself. I really appreciated the time he took to try and save me some money! It turns out I needed professional help so I dropped my cushion off at their shop and Chuck again provided excellent customer service and even carried the cushion to and from my car for me. He was both professional and friendly. The cost was very reasonable too. Jason, the technician who actually cleaned the cushion, performed a miracle! I received it back two days later with no trace of the smell or stain of cat urine. Anyone who has tried to remove male cat urine from anything will know how amazing that is. I waited about a week to leave this review and there is still absolutely no smell or stain on the cushion. So I've been using D-MAC for 3 years now. Love them!!! Robert use to be the tech that came to my place.. He was great.. But no longer works for the company. I had a pleasure to work with Jason. Wow another great technician. Definitely an expert at what he does. He explained how the break down of stains.. You know chemical enzyme talk!! Lol. Anyways I primarily had him come to my place to clean a love seat I have bought of of Craig's list. It's darling.. But when I got it home... It was SOOOO DIRTY!!! I dare sit on it. Was going to have it re-upholstered but decided to see if it can get cleaned first. Jason did not disappoint. He spent a lot of time cleaning the love seat. He then told me best way to have it evenly dry. Well it looks great! I included a before and after photo. He also cleaned inside of my closets and spot stained my place where I have cats.
