1 Star, is a MORE than generous rating for the NORMAL, D.P Dough. I've probably ordered from D.P Dough at least ten times in the last year and a half, and only two of the orders have been problem free. 1 Star Reasoning explained. My first encounter with D.P Dough was great, and probably the best I have experienced. The order came quick, i saved money with a first time online purchase, and the zones were packed and delicious! However this was in Champaign D.P not Normal. Ordering here, has been a completely different world. 1) The employees don't care. I understand most employees are college students, who could honestly care less about work, but when you get management acting as immature as the employees you develop problems. They charged my bank account $35 dollars for a $20 order, and tried to make it seem like it was my fault. Customers going in for pickup will often have to wait 2-4 minutes at the counter before they are even greeted, and often have to hear chatter about their personal lives. Delivery times AVERAGE over an hour, so have fun waiting. 2) Food quality Is absolutely garbage compared to the D.P in Champaign. You never know how much of the ingredients you're going to get. Sometimes it can be 3/4 cheese 3 lumps of sausage and air, or you can get a loaded zone. The "mixes" are borderline tasteless, and the cheese just ends up tasting like warm "nothing". I'm pretty sure the only reason why this company is still in business is due to drunk college students who dont think twice about spending $15 for a meal, after all the only way one can enjoy this food IS BEING DRUNK. My significant other works overnight locally, and we often set up a scheduled delivery with DP Dough before he leaves for work (when we haven't planned any lunch). We have been doing it for a little while, and I'll admit we get a little picky about a few things. We like the paper bags, to be delivered right before close, sometimes, etc. The food is always good. Recently, because I was so tired, I didn't catch on my online order that it still said PM not AM, and if we hadn't been regulars it would have never been caught. I got to find out in the morning that despite my order being wrong, my SO got his food right on time! This food only tastes good when you are drunk. When sober, it tastes like you are eating cheesy cardboard soaked in urine. One time I went there, when slightly intoxicated. It was around 1 am, I was shoved down by another drunken man who also wanted a calzone. When I punched him back I was escorted out of the store. This company has what you call a construction zone. I simply went on, ordered my ingredients, placed my order. This is because the construction zone gives you the ability to create your own calzone online. Much like you would be able to do in the store. I however was contacted by email not a call, that I had to much on my calzone. They stated their oven wasn't big enough. So why exactly would their own online system allow me to build this calzone without some sort of default setting that didn't allow me to build to large of a calzone. Seems like poor customer service and interaction. It is fair to say I have received decent service before now even though the delivery drivers are pretty rude. I did however the few times before this actually receive my calzone. This time. I didnt. Not even an attempt to deliver with bad attitude. Plenty of better places in uptown normal. I admit that the food is good (albeit greasy), but what really pains me is the staff. After an hours-long debacle with a delivery, I will never be ordering from DP Dough again. After waiting an hour, I called in to check up and was handed to a very rude staff member who claimed that I had been called three times already by the delivery driver. After a quick check of my call log (no calls) and the telephone number used to order (correct), they sent the food out again. After another 30 minutes, I had still not received it and called back in. I talked with the same rude staff member who informed me that I would be blacklisted if I did not pick up the phone again... hard to do when the phone isn't ringing. They said they'd send it out again. Fifteen minutes later: no call. Called back to find out that i've been blacklisted and that the found had been left outside. Very unhappy with the service. Dang son where'd you find this? I found it on grubhub and ordered some dank calazones filled with meat and cheese, just the way basegod intended. Reasonable prices even for a man who disregards reason at all costs. If you want some veggies they got it, but if you don't it's so chill bruh they'll jam pack that mau fulla meat and you'll sleep for 8 hours straight dreaming of the pocket of meat that is now passing though your intestinal track. I'd eat here daily if I just stopped caring about my bod, but my body is a temple and I worship it and then reward it with a reggie zone. read more

I am usually pretty critical places like this because the restaurant seems dirty and not well out together, but DP Dough consistently puts out good calzones that don't me feel completely useless after eating them. They have some of the most creative calzone and most taste great. I am partial to the Falling Rock (loaded baked potato zone), Pineapple Express (chicken, ham, pineapple and bbq sauce), and the chicken parmazone (this one's obvious). Ok... I don't get this place... at all. I don't understand them... at all. How in the world can two calzones cost $16 dollars? Just tell me that! So, here's the process by which you will purchase and consume your "zone." First you arrive. And it's crowded, well, not as bad as it was before they expanded, but it's always crowded after 9pm. You'll wait in line. You'll order your calzones, at which point they charge you about what you pay at a real restaurant. Next step: wait twenty minutes for your calzone to be ready. You have a few options here: you can sit in DP Dough with the entirety of the ISU student body, go outside and smoke a few cigarettes while you wait for your "zones" or hop over to Maggies for a few beers while you wait. Then, when you finally get the "zone," you'll find that it's a little doughy. You finally bite into it. And it's going to be marvelous. It's a steaming hot pile of dough filled with cheese, veggies and meat. Wait... what's all over your face? It's grease. Tons and tons of grease. Grease all over. Oh god.... and when you're finished you'll feel like you're going to die. I eat there, I admit. I enjoy it somewhat, I admit. My favorite place to get calzones! Always warm and delicious! Love that they can be delivered too and open until 3am! However note that this place can get very busy and i've had to wait up to an hour for my calzone to get delivered so it's best to order on a busy night a bit before you start to get really hungry so that you aren't starving by the time it comes. Got the shocker with a hot box deal (includes a side and drink). Love how fresh and quick they make the food. A combo deal is about $8.50 or $10 if you get a premium calzone. The fries are seasoned and cooked to order, quite good! Their drinks include an array of Jones Soda options. I've always wanted to try all the different kinds so this was a nice surprise haha. I have tried about 10 different combinations of zones and liked them all. I have only eaten in the old restaurant once and ever since have ordered online for delivery. Awesome website, dependable delivery, good prices and incredible selection. My family orders about once every other week and I will have new zones to try for over a year before repeating. They may not have a huge menu of varying tastes and styles, but if you are in teh mood for a unique calzone then this is as good as it gets. read more

So I ordered 3 Hot Box specials, the guy "forgot" to add our drinks, and when I asked for them, wanted to charge me over 4 bucks for 3 12 oz. cans of pop. "Sorry man" don't cut it, especially after I added a tip to the charge- not much, understand, I mean it's carry-out- I don't tip McDonalds, right?
