I finally got to go check out Dave's Hot Chicken in Bloomington! This is some of the freshest hot chicken I've ever had. First of all, their chicken strips are NOT small, so be prepared. When you order a slider, don't think you're getting some tiny sandwich--this thing is full-size and loaded. The kale slaw adds the perfect amount of flavor and crunch, especially when paired with Dave's sauce... such a good combo. The fries are also fantastic--almost perfect. I personally like mine just a little crispier, but the seasoning on them is so good it doesn't exactly matter lol And yes... we're talking about the pickles too. Perfect pickles. They add that extra bite and flavor that pushes the sandwich right over the edge to perfection. Oh and I almost forgot to mention my son wanted to try the macaroni and cheese so bad that he went up there and ordered a side of it, we all shared it. It was good, the noodles tasted just a little bit well done, and it smelled like velveeta. This place definitely gets crowded, but for good reason--it's a hot, popular spot and people know their chicken is fresh and amazing. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and I absolutely love the graffiti artwork on the walls. The bright, bold colors are so inviting, it almost makes you want to come inside before you even smell the food. If you haven't been here yet, do yourself a favor and get over here and check it out. The manger Brandon was super sweet and very helpfu for late night servic. food was delicious and the rest of the staff was extremely sweet

First know that this isn't fast food. It's not something you would really want to eat in the car, and everything appears to be made to order. I wasn't prepared for this. I had to use the restroom and it wasn't awful, but certainly not something you would brag about. I was surprised at how many people were working behind the counter. This was Sunday around 3. Not exactly rush hour, but they were busy. I ordered the two slider combo and a vanilla shake. I ordered 1 mild and 1 hot slider. I had no way to tell which was which when I opened the box. I ended up eating the mild first. This really isn't special. The flavor is lacking. The hot was pretty hot. My head started sweating immediately. Anything hotter would have been a mistake. Again the chicken doesn't have a lot of flavor it's just hot. The fries were okay, and overall this was a lot of food. The chicken pieces were big. The shake tastes like any other shake. Honestly o would rather have Canes and probably will be one and done on Dave's. Unless you just really need some hot chicken I would look elsewhere. read more

Service was good and friendly. Not super fast, but I was looking for good chicken, not fast so that was fine with me. We tried mild, medium, and hot. Hot is pretty spicy so I can't imagine the hotter versions. Dipping sauce was good. Chicken pieces were huge. My turn off was that the spice coating was so thick, it felt pasty. Ordered $91 worth a food, only had 1-$100 bill on me and 3-$20 bills so I had to pay with the $100. They said they couldn't take it. They let a customer who wanted almost $100 worth a food walk out the door because they redused to take a valid form of payment. There are plenty of trust worthy reliable ways to test bills now days. if you love hot chicken i'd 100% recommend this place, i've had dave's a few times but here was a different experience, very good for the price. beautiful inside and the service was amazing, they actually have personality when they work not like robots taking orders, i absolutely love dave's and this place took the cake, 110% recommend, definitely a do again when im back in illinois read more

I ordered the mild tenders with a side of macaroni and cheese. The tenders were large and juicy but unfortunately were covered with a rub that was chili powder and smoked paprika. The rub didn't taste like anything else. I ate most of one tender and threw the rest away. The macaroni and cheese was very bland and boring. We spent $40 on 2 meals and drinks and we won't go back. read more

First time to try since they opened. Ordered a 3 tenders and a 2 sliders. Drinks are not included. Food is nothing special! My sliders for some reason it's bitter whether it was the hot chicken or the bun or the veggies in there, I cannot tell. Inside is very small dining area and it was so noisy that I couldn't hear much. We sat outside but the music is loud as well to the point that you can't enjoy the company. I think it is expensive compared to the other chicken place which included drinks. We only had food and water. $30! Not recommended. read more

Service was fast and friendly. Food however was terrible. Chicken was dry and the flavor was even worse. I guess if you want a week's worth of sodium in a meal this is your place. The dry rub is average at best. Fries were decent but over salted. Tried the Mac n Cheese and it was average as well. Overall tried once but may never try again. Hard pass for me. read more
