Got a sandwich here a couple of weeks ago. I ordered the veggie melt with cheeses, onions and double mushrooms. What I had when I got home was a sandwich with cheddar cheese and three very tiny slices of mushrooms. I was shocked. I was in for the night and figured lesson learned.....I will never go to PotBelly again. The person who made the sandwich was nice but either was lazy or got off on incompetence. It's a sandwich, not the end of the world but I'll be darned if they will ever get another red hot cent of my money. Worst sandwich ever. Took a bite of it and straight in the garbage. The food was AVERAGE at best, after we had to wait in line experiencing the poor costumer service. Little to no communication between the employees and costumers about the food. I haven't had their sandwich for awhile. So I decided to have that for dinner. Ordered it in the appl. Went and pick it up inside. They used to have a shelf there for pick up. Every time I go there, it is always relocated. This time o where to be found. No problem. It was not busy anyway.I stood there for a good 5 minutes. A guy and a gal worked at the end of the counter. Did not acknowledge me being there for a good 5 minutes. Given the fact that they were busy making orders, still they can say, " I would be right with you!". Nothing. Another customer came in for a pick up, stood there as well. Then went to say something to them. Finally the guy asked me my name and gave me the order. Went home and had my dinner. Potbelly's is my #1 favorite sub shop now. I loooove their voodoo flavor chips and their warmed turkey sub. The staff was so wonderful and walked me through their ordering process since I'd never been before. It was a newer employee who helped me and he was incredibly kind. Upon entering as soon as they opened, my first impressions were lovely! The place has some rustic decor and the place is well kept- the service was speedy and nice, the lady who helped me was patient and even gave me a dish recommendation. I ended up sticking with a bowl of chili and a regular fountain drink. With a 10% tip it came out to be $10.72 and for spending that amount I assumed a better quality of chili. I am usually a big Potbelly fan but I have been there twice in the past 2 months and both trips have been exceptionally bad. On my first trip, I ordered the Mediterranean. They usually ask whether you would like chicken or no chicken, and they didn't ask me this time. The people working seemed grumpy so I assumed they weren't worried about trying to get that upcharge. As a vegetarian, I appreciated that they had a vegetarian sandwich that was priced like a vegetarian sandwich. I paid, left a tip, and when I got to my car, I had a bad feeling so I checked my sandwich. Of course it had chicken. I went back in to let them know I didn't order it with chicken and the guy working seemed very annoyed. He told me that it comes with chicken. When I told him it didn't used to, he told me it was changed months ago. Okay fair enough. He told me he would remake it without charging me but told me I needed to throw the chicken sandwich away first. He had quite a bit of attitude during this whole interaction to the point where I almost asked for my tip back. Today I ordered on the app and went to pick it up. My fiancé had an errand to run so I told him I would wait for him to pick me up in Potbelly. When I walked over, there was a sign on the door saying the lobby was closed and you needed to call the store number on the door to get your pickup order for the next 2.5 hours until they closed. When they brought it out they handed it to me without a word as I was standing in the cold. Will most definitely not be visiting this location anytime soon. I always love potbelly so much and all i wanted was a cold crunchy walnut salad. They didn't give me walnuts which wouldn't be a big deal if they had told me they were out before hand. It's a giant salad she only gave me like five grapes. They also didn't bother charging my boyfriend and i'm assuming they just were ignoring his presence because he's in a cast so now i payed 10 dollars for this stupid salad WITH NO APPLE OR WALNUTS!!!!! Stopped by Potbelly's around 1:45pm on Tuesday for a late lunch. The parking lot can typically get pretty busy with Starbucks being next door but there were several spots available on this trip. When I walked in, I was the only one in line so my order was placed right away. The service was good on this visit. Everyone was very friendly and they worked quickly to make my sandwich. I ordered the Grilled Chicken & Cheese. It was nothing fantastic, but it was good like I expected. I wouldn't consider these gourmet sandwiches, but I've always liked what I ordered and the pricing is pretty moderate at a little over $5 for a sandwich. We ordered the Grilled chicken & cheddar cheese originals with Mayo, mustard, pickles, lettuce and the usual toppings for myself and son and wifey ordered the Mushroom melt originals. We had the Mediterranean, the cheese and grilled chicken sandwich , the turkey sandwich andCoffee smoothie. They also have soups and salads.There is ample seating and the seating is quite comfortable. The sandwich shop is spacious and can accommodate big groups. read more

Stopped by for lunch and liked the place. Service was nice and fast. I had the Mediterranean sandwich with chicken and my husband had the chicken salad sandwich (which he always gets). Since moving to Illinois I've frequented this chain more times then I can count and only just realized I've never given it a review or the 5 stars it has earned almost every time I eat there. I've had Potbelly before but this location was awful. It may have been an off night. My sandwich had the meat in the middle of the roll and was somewhat burned. No flavor at all on this Italian sandwich. The milkshake was so bad that I actually called the restaurant when I got to my hotel room. It was full of ice chunks, like it was either old ice cream or they used skim milk to make the shake. I couldn't tell that it was a chocolate milk shake. Another pet peeve, I ordered everything to go. I get to my hotel and there are no napkins. Any "to go" order should have napkins in the bag. When I called about the shake, they offered me a free one on my next visit, which I said I appreciated, but I didn't go back and won't be back. read more

I've told my boyfriend on numerous occasions that if we ever break up I will drown my sorrows at Potbelly's and cement my undying affection for their tasty food. The salads are unbelievable. I've been getting their new Uptown Chicken Salad and for hours after I'm done eating I'll be saying, "GAWD, that salad was SO good!" It's unspeakably hard to find your go-to salad places, it's so hit or miss and really fills me with the kind of frustration and anxiety I've experienced in times past while trying to find a hairdresser who doesn't make me look like Peter Pan. But I found Potbelly's and I was a happy girl. The lettuce is never wilted, and everything is fresh and of great quality. Their candied walnuts are the awesomesauce I've also had their chicken salad salad (no, that's not a typo), and their chili- both are excellent. I'm very picky about my chicken salad and Potbelly's takes the win in Bloomington for me. The staff is crazy-nice, and they're happy when I bring my own bag in to pick up my take out orders. They use these really nice brown paper handle bags, but it feels wasteful to me to keep getting a new one each time so I've begun taking my own in with me. I thought they might find it odd and treat me oddly for it at first, but no such thing happened. I'd been eyeing the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for awhile and I finally gave in and bought a bag of the minis- holy mother of god. The girl said, "Try not to feel bad when you wind up eating the whole bag," and I promised her that when I was crying myself to sleep, packed with cookie-goodness, I would think of her (and I did!) This chain was completely unfamiliar to me as it isn't in my part of the country so I really had no idea what to expect. After entering at lunchtime, I immediately thought that it seemed a bit like a much nicer Jimmy John's though it didn't really have an overwhelming chain feel to it. I got an Italian sandwich and was pleasantly surprised - it was really good. Probably the best sandwich I've had from a chain sandwich place. The bread was great and the meat was good. I think the toppings really made the sandwich though - the hot peppers, oil and Italian seasoning really took the sandwich to another level. A nice place to get a quick sandwich. I'm not much of a sandwich guy so I don't really crave any sandwich place. (Craving a certain food is a sure sign of getting them a 4 or 5 star rating from me) I like their Wreck sandwich, but have also tried the Turkey, Italian, and Meatball sub. All are pretty good. The staff is always friendly but it could be sort of difficult for a first timer to know how to order. They like to go fast and if it's loud in there it can be difficult to hear what they are asking. I always like here about secret menu items so here is one I have confirmed from Potbelly's. Order a "Wrecking Ball" and you will get a Wreck with meatballs added to it. They make good sandwiches quickly here. The milk shakes are good too. I actually have gotten a peanut butter and jelly the last few times I've been here. They will do a peanut butter and banana as well. My brother and sister always get the turkey sandwich and there have been no complaints. I've ordered the subs at this restaurant a few different times (turkey, roast beef, chicken salad, tuna salad) all on wheat bread. I must say, I've been to sub shops and ordered small sandwiches that have more weight to them then the Biggie size they serve here. The sandwiches are all bread, and the bread is not soft. I usually take the entire top half off so I can taste more then just bread. As far as the meat goes, they do not put much in the sandwich at all. A real let down. The positives; the place is clean, the spicy pepper topping is very distinctive, and the live entertainment is something different for a sandwich shop. read more

I had the "Bigs" turkey sandwich. It was extremely fresh and tasted deliciously amazing. I ordered some barbecue chips to compliment my sandwich. The taste of the chips was ok, but the barbecue chips at Jimmy John's are much better. They have an unexpected non-barbecue sweet taste. Next time i will explore other chip options. I washed down this grub with an ice cold diet dr. Pepper which was great, it tasted just as it should. Next time i think i will try one of their cookies. I will definitely be back. I was so happy when this came to town. Typically I hate chains, but this one does it right. Get the Italian on wheat... you won't regret it! And the oreo shakes, with mini oreos and mini butter cookies on top are such a treat. There is enough food that you don't have to order BIG, though they give you the option now. If you order SKINNY you don't lose any flavor and have enough space for that shake you ordered. Love the atmosphere and the soup nazi-esque ordering scheme. If friends want to go our for sandwiches, bypass Subway and Jimmy John's and Quizno's. Love it here. Maybe it would be better if I actually went to the store but it just didn't have any flavor and the bread was kind of soggy and left much to be desired.
