This was our first visit and it was not pleasant. We ordered take out. I ordered Lemon Chicken and when I got home, it was shrimp (I do not like shrimp). The Kung Pow chicken literally had 4 small chunks of chicken in it and the rest was vegetables. Not impressed with the taste of anything. Will not return. read more

TBH there's not really a great local Chinese restaurant that you can go to week after week to start family traditions of knowing the people who work there, feeling like you found a gem, proud that you are patronizing this small "dingy" establishment! This place is close to filling that goal! It's in a corner convenience center (hidden location), small place and not elaborately decorated! Now, to the good stuff! The food is edible ! There are some misses but for the most part everything will leave you satisfied. Our "go to" dish is the jajamyeon! Our least (ie won't order again" is the mapo tofu. I am still debating how to rate this. I have been there several times throughout the last 4 years. Only ate there a few times. Mostly did pickup. I usually always see a girl and she is pleasant and helpful. Food has not been bad considering the price. Except the last time which was Valentine's day. I stopped there after work to pickup food for home. I called in my order and went to pick it up. I was there within 5 minutes. The restaurant only had 3 tables so there were not that busy. As i am waiting i hear loud screaming and yelling when the server went in the kitchen. He then comes out like nothing happened. Few minutes later he goes back in and hear them argue again. Then you hear bagging and dishes dropping on the floor as if they are physically fighting in the kitchen. I looked at a couple sitting at the table across the dining room. The gentleman said they have been arguing since they sat down. They said they are there because all other restaurants have a long wait time due to Valentine's day and they didn't want fast food. I actually thought about leaving but since i already paid almost $60 for my food, i didn't just wanna walk out on them and dispute the charges and all that. Forced myself to wait another 10 minutes to get my food. We found Da Chef Noodle's 4-Star review on Yelp and were immediately sold. Imagine our disappointment when we found out what we had bought. The Noodle Soup with Duck was like picking through a mystery box - "What will I get!! A bite of gristle? A chunk of bone? Or something in between?" Great place to eat off of I-10 in Indio especially if you like noodles and/or soup. The restaurant is very clean, service was excellent, food came out quickly, and was delicious. Ordered the stewed pork rib noodle soup w/ a thai tea boba. The meat was extra tender and flavorful, the noodles were plenty, and I liked the veggie mix (bok choy n green onions). The broth was a bit bland but perhaps that's how it's supposed to be. My only recommendation is that they add a hook in the restroom for us ladies to hang our purse on :). I found this place by accident and ordered the duck noodle soup. I was curious to try the freshly made noodles, based on other reviews. The portion or bowl size was large but the taste fell short for me. I had to add salt and chili sauce to increase flavor. The amount of duck was ok. Overall the fresh noodles and someone who serves duck in the area is nice. If you read my other duck soup review you will know that I've had much better duck soup out if this area. read more

We tried this place because it was cold out and we felt like noodles. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. Everything came out warm, not hot. The chicken consistency was weird: almost rubbery. The flavors were minimal and the service took a long time. There were 4 tables total including us and it took over 20 minutes to get drinks and our order in. My stomach is a little queasy and the food is definitely not settling well. I should have read other recent reviews! I do not recommend. The girl never acknowledged I was standing there waiting. I placed my order at 6:40pm and it was ready at 7:25pm. There is always one girl working at the counter even on a Friday night. Fortunately, I'd been to Da Chef Noodle once or twice before and had been pleasantly surprised. The place is tiny and doesn't look fancy, but the food is absolutely superb! We had the Crispy Fish, the Sesame Balls, BBQ Pork Bao, Stewed Pork Ribs, and Yaki Udon combination plate. A huge meal, all fresh and delicious. I don't think there is a better Chinese restaurant in the whole Coachella Valley. Lots of parking, great menu, cheerful, efficient, informal, and pleasant wait staff and a chef to rival the finest. We had a feast, took home half our food, and were shocked at how inexpensive the whole meal was. There is a bar, but we drank only tea, which was also excellent. Food is OK, but service is bad. Noodles delivered to table with only a spoon. Had to ask for chopsticks. No napkin so I had to get up and help myself. No soy sauce on the table, so I had to get up and get it from another table. Server has a bad attitude. Have eaten here once or twice a week for last 2 months. Because of the poor service and sour attitude, I only left the small change as a "tip". He chased me out the door and flung the coins at me saying "I don't need your coins", "don't come back!". I discovered Da Chef Noodle from doing a dim sum search on Yelp and decided to drive the 25 miles and try it out. I was really pleased, the food was excellent, the dim sum, although a small selection, was very good. Looked at the menu and only wanted something that was $1 more, and they insisted I pay the difference, despite the inconvenience and fact that I didn't have my wallet on me. So happy to find somewhere to eat dim sum around town. We were very pleased with our lunch and tried several dim sum items as well as some of the soups. I was pleasantly surprised that all the items seemed freshly homemade. For example, we often order potstickers (pan fried dumplings or whatever they happen to be called at various places) as an appetizer and though they are usually good you can tell they are often machine made possibly even frozen and just heated up. But not here they really seemed hand made and fresh. The dough wasn't perfectly thin and shaped exactly the same. Don't get me wrong they were still made very well and tasted great, you could just tell they were probmade freshly by a real person. Oh MY GOD. How does anyone rate this restaurant anymore than a two star. The prices are outrageous. Ordered soup as an appetizer. Soup was the worst hot and sour soup I have ever tasted. It took them 15 minutes to get me the soup andin a matter of one minute they were dropping the entrées at the table as well. The rice was ice cold and everything we ordered all tasted the same. I've better food at a 99 cent Entree Chinese restaurant. On their wall they have this picture of a gentleman in a chefs outfit and it states " World class chef joins DA NOODLE".
