Food was very delicious and flavorful. The food was brought to our table perfectly fresh hot from stove. Perfect restaurant tucked away from the typical tourist areas.

The food was amazing! We had cacio e Pepe, baked chicken, an artichoke and steak with green pepper sauce. Service was great! Planning to go back before our trip is over.

Da Olimpio is a little trattoria located down one of the narrow alleyways between Piazza di Barberini and Fontana di Trevi. Our AirBnB was not far from here on a recent stay in Rome, and we passed it a few times on our way to other places. Looking in the window every night it appeared to be just my kind of place. Mostly locals, energetic, lots of plates clanging, people laughing. I finally convinced my family to give it a try and it was one of the dining highlights of our trip. On the night of our visit we showed up on the earlier side of dinner service to make sure we could get a table. We were greeted and seated right away. Our waiter was fantastic. He went out of his way to make recommendations. The mushrooms were picked today, get a mushroom pizza to share. Get some pasta dishes and some fish to share. My Mrs. asked if they had proscuitto. Yes, and it was very good. He asked if we had tried burrata cheese yet. No. Okay, you have to try it, it's like mozzarella but way creamier. He also recommended a red wine and brought bread and water. The proscuitto and burrata came first. If you have not tried burrata cheese before please find some and try it. I dream about the stuff now. I want to seek more out, and I will some day, but for now that place in time where I first had it lives in my mind. The proscuitto was not as oily or salty as the other places we had it. It was more rustic and we all appreciated how unique it was. 5/5 Grilled Sole: I only had a couple bites of this, but it was moist, tender and had a nice lemony kind of taste. 4/5 Fettuccine with Porchini Mushrooms: this was another dish which incorporated the fresh mushrooms. We all loved this and it paired really well with the pizza. 5/5 Tortollini alla Bolognese: the red sauce had a wonderful depth of flavor. 4/5 Pizza with Mushrooms: the pizzas at Da Olimpio are very rustic. The crust was crip on the bottom but had a nice chew to it at the same time. There was a prefect balance between the tomato sauce (just crushed marzano tomato), cheese and mushrooms. This was one of my favorite pizzas ever, and get this-- it was 6 Euros. We all left raving about the meal. I really hope I get back here again. If I lived in Rome I would come here every week.

The food and the service were absolutely amazing in this restaurant. They speak perfect English and Spanish. I truly recommend this restaurant. My family and I had lunch and we loved it, so we went back for dinner.

Da Olimpio may not look like much from the outside or get as many visitors as some of the other restaurants in Rome on major drags, but it is a great little locally owned restaurant. We've eaten here three times over our two visits to Rome in the past couple of years, and we will more than likely visit again on our next trip to Rome. We've tried cacio e pepe, gnocchi bolognese, meats and cheeses, and tiramisu. Everything we've had here has been a great, no-fuss version of what you will find most places in Rome. You can tell that the pasta and sauces are made fresh to order each day, which is something you won't find at a lot of tourist traps. Also, the tiramisu is a must-try - it is so creamy and delicious here. Do yourself a favor and get off the beaten path to try Da Olimpio.

Food was amazing and the dessert Mille Fagole was even better. My husband had the eggplant Parmesan and I had the Paparadelle with peas ham and mushroom. Both dishes were amazing. The service was not great. There is an older grumpy gentleman who you can't get to smile. He's not very welcoming and when we asked for oil/Vinegar for our bread, he seemed annoyed. The table next to us didn't eat their bread because it was cold & stale (so was ours) and they didn't have oil/Vinegar. In the end, they got charged for the bread which they were not happy about. Another third table chimed in and told them not to eat the bread if offered and sometimes they will take it off the bill, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I'm tired of these restaurants serving cold stale bread and automatically charging patrons as a mandatory "sitting fee". The bathrooms are smelly and not clean. Service could be friendlier. Otherwise the food was delicious.

Olimpio, the best restaurant near our hotel. I guess you could call this a typical Italian Family restaurant. The staff is primarily composed of family members, mom, dad, son, daughter and grandma. Don't be surprised if you see the grandmother hand washing the dishes. The ambiance it causal, relaxed, borderline chaotic, but always friendly. The food, what can I say about the food, simply succulent. The pasta is perfectly cooked, the pizzas have thin and tasty crusts. Useful note there is a 10% service change and 1EU cover change (for bread) per person. You can consider that the tip is included in the service.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and if you're sitting outside on a sunny day, the staff is very attentive about adjusting the shades so you're comfortable. They will adjust even without you having to ask. I ordered the artichoke as an appetizer which was very good, I recommend getting this if they are in season. I also ordered the carbonara, and it was by far the best I had while in Rome perfectly creamy, rich, and full of flavor without being too heavy. You can really tell they focus on doing the classics right. What stood out beyond the food was how efficiently the staff operated. Despite how busy the restaurant gets, they move quickly and keep everything running smoothly, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, this is a must-visit spot if you're in Rome. Expect a wait, but it's 100% worth it for the quality of the food and service.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

Super pizza place with a lot of other great stuff on the menu…read more I looked with envy at the other tables who were enjoying spectacular plates of spaghetti with mussels. * * * That said, my pizza was a grand slam home run. Many of their pizzas are quite elaborate With all sorts of exotic ingredients. I went super simple. Gorgonzola. Mozzarella. That's it. Just enough Mozzarella to cut the Gorgonzola and make for a good melt. * * * If you have never had a gorgonzola pizza, you have never lived. Just sayin'. * * * P.S. My lovely wife got a Norwegian salmon pizza. The Norwegian salmon was stacked up high on her pizza As if she was in the World Series of Poker and she was a big winner. I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
