Have not returned to this location since my last review 5 years ago. My son asked for Giovanni's so we decided to drive to town at the H Mart location. Today was a lot better, ordered the shrimp scampi and tasted just like driving down to Kahuku or North Shore. The shrimp were a lot smaller, but they give a little more than the normal 12 shrimps. Conveniently located above H Mart in an air conditioned food court. Garlic shrimp exactly how it should be, lots of butter and lots of garlic! Decent portion and decent price. No frills, plain white rice on the side with some garlic butter on top. Also, the shrimp isn't peeled but they are deveined and the shell is cut so it's easily peeled off. We got the Hot and Spicy Shrimp, right after trying Jenny's right down the road. And would definitely recommend Jenny's Shrimp (like 200 feet away) if there is a huge line for Giovanni's. The Shrimp was very small and the hot sauce we are pretty sure was just Tabasco sauce lol. If you do come here definitely get the Shrimp Scampi instead of the spicy shrimp, the garlic shrimp is a lot better. It's located on the North Shore and is really packed.the lines are long and popular. Everyone says it's the best on the island! We tried both the garlic and butter shrimp it was ok. The service is as quick as it can be for being busy and there are plenty of food trucks in the area to try. It was a nice day for a drive and ending up here was an experience. The shrimp says it's soaked in garlic and or butter, however they had no flavor built in... the sauces they give you are cold so they don't add to the flavor. The North Shore is breath taking so definitely worth the drive. read more

If you're staying in Waikiki and there's a Giovanni's location nearby, there is no need to drive to the OG truck unless you really want the true Giovanni's experience. This location is inside of H Mart in the second floor dining hall with other food vendors. When I went for dinner there was no line and there were plenty of tables available for dining. The shrimp tasted just like the shrimp from the truck, though if I had to make any comparison, my batch did taste a bit saltier than I am used to. Maybe this was a one-off but the shrimp was still delicious. Parking in the area is okay since there is a parking lot for the grocery store but street parking is also available. I heard great things about this shrimp, and I really wanted to try it since I loved big wave at the north shore food trucks. When we first got there, we were confused where to go. It wasn't until we read the reviews and saw that it was on the second floor of the hmart that we needed to go there. We ordered from the counter and they would call the number when ready. We couldn't decided and got 2 half portions. The scampi shrimp seasoning was good. But the portions were much smaller compared to the big wave. The spicy version was too spicy and sour. I guess I should have known better since there were signs that said no refunds if you selected the spicy version. All in all, I would much rather go to north shore. read more

Eating Giovanni's always makes me feel nostalgic and you don't have to go all the way to Kahuku to get it. There is a location in Kakaako, in the food court above HMart. Their star dish is the Shrimp scampi, 12 large succulent and tender pieces of shrimp served with 2 scoops of rice covered in butter and garlic. They also have a butter and lemon option, and a spicy option. Warning: the spicy shrimp is VERY spicy, so I would suggest ordering the scampi with a side of signature hot sauce instead. Can't eat shrimp? No worries. You can order the garlic hot dog and macaroni salad. The price has gradually gone up over the years and currently sits at $17.50 per plate, which is pretty reasonable considering the generous serving size. read more

Had heard so much about Giovanni's shrimp and how much we had to try this while visiting Hawaii and I am so glad that we got to. The shrimp had such a good flavor. We weren't sure what to order and we were about to order the "Hot & Spicy" because we really do love spicy foods however we were advised that it was very spicy and that we wouldn't be able to do any refunds if it was too spicy to enjoy. As an alternative, we ordered the Scampi and then we got some hot sauce on the side to get it to a good spice level for us. The lemon mixed with the garlic and the spice with white rice was so good. The spicy sauce tasted similar to Tobasco hot sauce so if you like that sauce, you will likely enjoy the spicy flavor. We thought we had missed our opportunity while in the North Shore area, but were surprised when we found this location as well and we were able to stop by before we had left the island. I also believe parking is free for the first two hours. The restaurant is located on the second floor of H Mart where their food court is located. There are ample seating in the restaurant great for friends and family for a casual dining. The food itself is delicious.The seasoning is great, the garlic is not too overpowering and the shrimp is so fresh. You can tell from the texture of the shrimp. It bounces in your mouth as you chew. Since it was our first time here, It's was little hard to find. But it's inside the only building by the parking garage. I didn't know it was above the food market on the second floor. There is an elevator for this who can't use the stairs. Their menu is not much but the Garlic Shrimp is very popular. So why not give it a try. This spot is a must visit!!! It's challenging to locate as online it doesn't tell you it's located on the top floor of a store called H mart which is a Korean Grocery Store. There's actually multiple eateries located on this top floor similar to a food court with communal tables and areas to eat in a big warehouse setting. It's definitely odd to find and I didn't see any signage outside. Once inside of the H mart you can either take an elevator or stairs up and the elevator is almost in the center of the store. As for Giovanni's, the two staff were super nice and both helped me pick my two plates. I ordered the shrimp plate 1/2 spicy & 1/2 garlic side of rice dowsed in garlicky butter deliciousness and the hotdog with no bun extra extra garlic on top. Both plates were completely annihilated 100% only leaving the tail and shells from the shrimp. Quick service, maybe 7-9 minutes for my order to come out. The only think I would say is being as the shell is on all of the amazing sauces and stuff is on the shell that you have to take off by hand so you wipe all the flavor off as you deal with that but the shrimp is deveined and this is pretty common most places.
