The Sizzler dish which came in sizzling hot was dropping temp quick & sauce spilling to the sides was alright with lots of veges vs protein portion. My husband and his brother scarfed down their meals...I believe they ordered lunch specials which came with hot and sour soup ....and I know my husband had an egg roll. We came here for my grandma's birthday and the food was so good. We had eggrolls, pork gyoza, crab Rangoons, shrimp fried rice, fried chicken wings, a vegetarian dish and my grandma's meal was really delicious according to her. I have been here many times over the years but hadn't been there in awhile until a few weeks ago when my parents were in town for a visit. Da Shin was always one of their favorite places to dine during the almost 30 years they lived in Media and they try to go every time they come for a visit. Anyway, about seven of us had a great dinner there together. The service was impeccable and the food was enjoyed by all. Very nice atmosphere in the place and our waitress couldn't have been any sweeter. Decent pad thai that was too sweet. The meal begins with free fried noodles and sweet and sour sauce. The sauce is sweet and tangy. It's a nice touch on the greasy crisp fried noodles. They also give free tea that's pretty good. I wasn't impressed with the pad thai. The noodles were too thin, though well executed. The problem lied most in the sweetness of the dish. Had high expectation for this place but was let down. Nice quaint place only two other tables of people were filled when we dined. The meal started out ok, wife had egg drop soups which she loved. I had wonton soup only had two wonton in the soup, but they were good. Wife had a salmon dish. She was very disappointed as it was dried out like it was a leftover and reheated. I had the hunan duck, very spicy which I didn't realise it would be, my fault there, but the duck was nothing but bones, only 3 bites of duck I could actually eat. I have to update the stars to five because Da Shin gets better every year. They are continually adding to the menu and trying new things while keeping all of their old standards. Their seasonal offerings are fabulous and exciting. Today I had an appetizer called teriyaki beef wraps which are Chinese style pancakes with egg in it and shredded lettuce and teriyaki beef. It was presented very well on a plate with a vegetable garnish and sauce. Very pretty and I was blown away by the taste. Entree was the Uncle C.C Rainbow Beef. Prompt attentive take-out service. They get 5 stars for making the best egg rolls I've had in probably 20 years. Los Angeles has the best food in the world, but one thing they don't get is egg rolls. Shin makes crunchy crispy egg rolls!! Super delicious! With pork and shrimp. I recall egg rolls in L.A. are chewy, never crispy crunchy like I think they should be. We also ordered vegetable lo mein, wonton soup, and sesame chicken. The sesame chicken was ok. Maybe too much sauce. The wonton soup was better than P.F. Chang's. Chang's won ton soup noodle wraps fall apart easily and disintegrate in their soup. I like the thicker wonton wraps in Shin's won tons. Much better! Next time I'm buying 5 egg rolls!! I've enjoyed dining at Da Shin for as long as I can remember. My grandparents used to take me here when I was a kid. My all time favorites are the wonton soup, the chicken and broccoli and the hot tea of course. My boys love coming here and the staff is always so friendly with them. There are a lot of good options on the kids menu. My boys specifically like the sweet and sour chicken and the lo mein. It's definitely a cute little place and a step above most(not all) Chinese restaurants. They recently added a Thai section to their menu but I'll still stick with my favorite Thai place for those kinds of dishes. Their takeout is fast and delicious too. read more

This is a Chinese restaurant with a little Thai on the side. Nice setting and quick service in a Saturday night. Ordered won ton soup and chicken pa-nang curry w white rice. Won ton soup was flavorful but the noodles were a little thick. The curry was spiced just right and had a silky texture but again a little thicker than I liked -different styles I guess. I was working Sunday and this place is right down the street. I really enjoyed their scallion pancake. It's crispy and flaky on the outside, and nice and soft on the inside. We had a large party but ordered from the menu. The food was well above the regular area Chinese-American food and the service was friendly and attentive. The Korean-style chicken wings (fried crispy wings in a sticky soy, garlic and chili-based sauce) were so good, I could have simply noshed on those all evening. They were smoking hot, just spicy enough and rather messy. But really good. We had various fried rice, seafood, Kung Pao chicken, lo mein and even a duck. The duck was only so-so, and the lo mein tasted great but the noodles were cut up, which annoys me. I have no trouble stringing up long threads of noodles on chopsticks and in fact, cut noodles are harder to eat. But they tasted great. The fried rice was real fried rice, not the packaged pre-made stuff you run into sometimes. Most dishes were pretty good. If you planned ahead and talked to the staff, I think you could arrange for some really good off-menu dishes or special dishes like Crystal dumplings for a party. Prices were very reasonable. By the end of the meal, the younger members of the wait staff were playing Chinese clapping games with the kids and having a great time. That made our Chinese New Year celebration much more fun for the younger ones, for whom simply sitting at table is dull, sometimes. I'd come back simply for those wings. read more

I can't get over how friendly the employees are here! They're just so nice and go out of your way to make you feel at home, it puts a smile on my face. Da Shin feels like a little family-run Chinese joint, with food made from scratch and with love. When we went, they were featuring a $15 prix-fixe menu with an appetizer, entrée, and dessert, which seemed like a great deal. A lot of the food is typical Chinese-American fare--you know, deep-fried egg rolls, General Tso's chicken, tons of brown sauce+meat combos. Since the Chinese chicken wings were advertised so much, we decided to grab a plate as an appetizer, with Kung Bao sauce. Highly recommended. The meat practically fell off the bone, possibly a little too pink, though. We loved the Singapore noodles, which were lightly turmeric curried, with egg, shrimp, and chicken. They were generous with the Yu Shiang scallops, too. The deep, tangy flavors of the brown sauce melded with the lightness of the scallops and water chestnuts. Their menu says they'll accommodate you if you ask for less sauce, less salt, etc., which is cool, although I didn't ask for any modifications. The dessert menu's decidedly not very Chinese, or even Asian (well, the mango passion fruit bomb looked tempting), but the bear-shaped chocolate ice cream we got was too cute to resist! read more

Nice find while hanging out at the Granite Run Mall. Friendly nice place with attentive service and good food. Nice variety of Chinese food with a few Thai selections. They have several dishes under the " Da Shin Specialties". Started off with a very tasty chicken corn soup for 2 and followed it up with a few spring rolls and a awesome Calamari with Salt & pepper.
