Going plant based at a Chinese restaurant is easy. Finding amazing plant based Chinese food is something entirely different. Thankfully, Da Shin Bistro rocks! Stopped to bring some takeout home: veggie spring rolls, veggie fried rice, spicy General Tso's fried tofu and spicy Drunken a Noodles with fried tofu. The spring rolls tasted great, thanks to some of their killer house made spicy mustard. The veggie fried rice was excellent. The General was perfect. I didn't think I'd like the tofu as much as I did but the kicked up spice in the broth did the trick. The broccoli and bell peppers made it perfect. The highlight was the Drunken Noodles with tofu also in a delicious kicked up sauce. A thin egg noodle packed in a delicious broth with veggies, we thought it was spectacular. I'm an incredible fan of Hot and Sour Soup. I am constantly looking for "the one". Da shin has my favorite Hot and Sour soup Thus far. It's got the right amount of broth and just the right amount of red pepper. I add a little hot sauce because I like soup super spicy. I have also enjoyed the General Tso's chicken and the house special rice and lo mien. I can tell you that I truly enjoyed the food and the staff is really friendly. I recommend!!! read more

Chinese food at its best, and this Asian ain't kiddin'. While yes, there are items on the menu that cater to the customers who enjoy a nice Americanized Chinese meal, there are also dishes offered that lean more towards the authentic side. Located in a little strip mall, you'd be surprised at how many people you can find in the restaurant during mealtimes. While dining in is a great experience, take out is offered. I remember hanging out there when I was younger (as it was operated by close family friends) and seeing all these people come into the restaurant and wait in line to pick up their take out orders. My personal faves were of course the Americanized Chinese foods (hey, they don't call me an "American Born Chinese" - ABC - for nothing!) such as fried rice, lo mein, dumplings, you know the drill. But nothing hit the spot better than a bowl (meant for 2) of the corn soup w/ minced chicken. Man oh man, just thinking about it makes my mouth water, despite the 80 degrees temperature I am enduring at the moment. Not so traditional, but not so Americanized either. I can guarantee, though, that the food is of the highest quality, and no matter what you order, it will taste good. And if you're worried, fill up on the fried noodles that you get at your table - they're delish. ;) read more

Ordered takeout using the online ordering. Food was ready on time and pickup was a breeze. I was mistakingly given the wrong bag of food. The restaurant called as I was pulling up at my house to notify me of the mistake. They took my address and had the correct order dropped off within 10 minutes. I didn't even know I had the incorrect order before they called. Unbelievable customer service effort on their part. In addition to their quick recovery, the food was delicious! The portion size at Da Shin Bistro was unbelievable small. Of the 3 entrees I ordered the portion was less than a normal small from an average take out place. I came home, measured and found that each was 11oz to 14oz in volume. This is less than the pint containers of rice that you get. The Kung Po chicken was mostly water chestnuts and very little chicken. The sauce flavor was good on each entrée but the portions were shocking. read more

I tried the sesame sauce with them, and it feels like you are in heaven when you take your first bite. The shrimp fried rice is the best rice I have had in years. The sesame chicken was great as well. The sauce compliments the entree very well. The pricing is average, bit the service was above par. They cater to your needs throughout the entire experience. Went for dinner tonight with 2 girlfriends. Love how they have the farm fresh menu and gluten free options as well. We ordered some classics, hot n sour soup, egg rolls, mapo bean curd and crispy beef. Ordered some farm fresh items, kale chips and short ribs. Everything was really good. Short rib was very tender and kale chips were delicious and crispy! The classics were tasty as well. No service issues. Also love that its a byob. We didn't realize that till we were sat, but we there's a liquor store 5 min away on Baltimore ave. We go here all the time, they serve brown rice and are BYOB wth nice decor and wonderfully friendly staff and great food. Occasionally the food is slightly overcooked but never burnt. Note that it's expensive. $10 for your choice of main dish... $5 more for the egg role... $6 more for fried rice. Most Chinese places give you the choice of white rice or brown or fried rice with your order... Da Shin doesn't. We just didn't want to spend $20+ per person, so our party left. Maybe if they included rice with your order (as 99% of all chinese places do) we would have stayed. Another thing is that it was completely dead at dinner time on a Friday evening. It's difficult to find an actual Chinese (er, American Chinese) sit-down restaurant nowadays, and I wanted my kids to have the experience that I loved as a kid: you know, the big fish tank, dunking those crispy noodle thingies in the duck sauce, all of it. Anyway, Da Shin didn't disappoint: the food was great (I had the Chinese eggplant, which was divine) and the staff was really sweet to two little kids (they have kiddie books you can borrow and we were given a 2016 wall calendar - we visited in 12/2015 - that my daughter loves). Service was a tad slow but the food and smiles from the staff made up for it. We'll visit again when we're in the area. read more
