Located inside the Maui mall so there's plenty of parking outside. When we showed up we were greeted with friendly smiles and seated very quickly. It wasn't too busy for a Sunday afternoon but there were a few tables occupied. By the time we left, it was almost a packed house. The vibe inside is very lively with the music and the background noise of families conversing which made it feel homey. The All Da Kine Combo with Shrimp, Clams, and Mussels was flavorful and the sauce was the star of the show that tied it all together. There were also pieces of Portuguese sausage as well as potatoes and corn, inside the bag. I finally got to try this place after years of it being open at the Maui Mall. They do not take reservations and will not seat you until your entire party is there. It's not a huge place so it's understandable. You sign in at the front door and they call you when your table is ready. I will say, it's a little pricey. But this is the only seafood boil place on island and we were there for a special occasion, so we splurged a little. The elote was a nice surprise and was tasty. I also got a bowl of gumbo. I think it was $9. The portion was on the smaller side, but it's meant to be an appetizer and I did not want to fill up on it, so it was the perfect amount for me. Once you order, they bring out plastic gloves and bibs, and the table is lined with the paper. There are a few different ways to order, as well as different seafood options to try. We decided to get a mix of Kauai shrimp ($2 more than regular/mainland shrimp) mussels, and clams. We added corn and potatoes and a boiled egg as well. Sadly, the egg didn't make it in the bag. We added garlic butter and Cajun seasoning. I felt like it was a pretty generous portion of seafood and was more than enough for us to share. We got two bags for 5 people. Side note, they added automatic gratuity for our party size. I will say, the potatoes didn't have much flavor. I don't think they were "boiled" with the seafood. We did order a ribeye, then were told that they actually didn't have anymore (like 20 mins later) but it ended up being okay because we were full without it. I believe it's BYOB but we opted for fountain drinks. I love a crunchy coke. It didn't disappoint. I don't think we will be regulars but I'd go back for sure! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Kahului hidden away in the Maui mall complex. You can always find very fresh fish and a wonderful seafood jambalaya soup. that's spicy, and authentic! I especially love their crispy calamari !! And another one of my favorites is the Opaka Paka .. And always order extra asparagus!! The staff is always friendly and pleasant .. and I enjoy drawing & sketching, on the butcher Block paper that is put on top of your table.. which for remind you of eating in Maine.. or Louisiana at a crawfish bake!! Have heard friends rave about this place often! We finally had a day off, was nearby and hungry - trifecta!! The establishment is clean and tastefully decorated with a very readable menu board. If you like seafood, they serve it here by the pound, with a choice of four different ways to season it, and a host of sides. I thoroughly enjoyed a pound mussels, served with a big bowl of rice! Bf ordered the beer battered shrimp and fries. Our server was very friendly and helpful. She took the time to go over the different parts of the menu and how to order. The seafood boil was really good, but we got unexpectedly charged $156 for the boil when it's advertised as $56. I understood one extra charge for the snow crab but I still don't understand why it was $100 more than expected when I looked at the receipt it showed the $56 boil then +$15 for snow crab then the total was $156. Just blew my mind and she ended up giving us $15 back because there was a miscommunication with an extra crab cluster but still never should have came out over $100 read more

When we landed at Kahului Airport here in Maui, we were really ready for a nice lunch, after our six hour flight. We picked up our car and hit the road. We came upon Da Shimp Hale and the menu looked very good. Now my wife's favorite meal is messy, hard to eat, peel-and-eat shrimp where they just dumb your shrimp on your paper table cloth and you claw your way though it, with both hands. Oh, I forgot the best part - then you end up sucking your fingers clean, and you wish you had a beach towel (not a 8 X 8 napkin) to wipe yourself off. Well, Da Shimp Hale fit this description perfectly. I ordered Large Kauai Shrimp in a garlic butter sauce and my wife ordered the same (bag full) of shrimp, but in hot Cajun sauce. We also got two orders of French fries and BYOB'ed a bottle of chardonnay; then devoured (messingly [sic]) may I add this lunch. Everything was quite good. The staff here, was delightful and the price was more than fair. On a side note, the mess we created was on par with all of the other patrons chaos. So, in conclusion, this pit stop was a perfect way to start our short trip. read more

I love seafood and have been really wanting to try out Da Shrimp Hale ever since they opened. Welp, took me a while, but finally got around to it a couple of weeks ago when we were at Maui Mall and decided to stop by on a whim. It's a small establishment, but there was an ample amount of seating and maybe 2 other tables when we entered the restaurant. It quickly filled up soon thereafter. We took a peak at their menu and decided to go for the combo so that we could try a little bit of everything. You get your choice of 3 seafoods, 6 sausages, 3 potatoes, 1 corn, 1 cajun fries, & a steamed rice. Then you choose your flavor and spice level. We went with the snow crab legs, shrimp, and clams, in their garlic butter sauce, and no spice. While waiting, the waitress dropped off a seafood toolkit, plastic bibs, and gloves to get ready for our meal. The food came out pretty quickly and we dug in! I really loved the garlic buttery goodness and my favorites were the snow crab legs and the clams. Might have been even better with a little bit of spice! With that said, I'm torn between a 4 star and a 3 star rating. While the flavor was great, I was honestly expecting more for the price based on past reviews. I don't have a big appetite, but it was barely just enough for 2 people to feel 'satisfied.' The 3 potatoes were 3 half slices and 6 sausages were 6 slices. You could pay extra for a bit more food, but 6 slices of sausage for $4 is quite exorbitant. I confirmed with a friend and she said the serving sizes were much bigger in the past. I guess the keyword is *market price* which most of their meats are. Overall, it was a-ok and I would recommend it if you're really craving seafood! I don't think there's any other restaurant that does a seafood boil here on Maui so they have that niche going for them. This review is long overdue, as I've been eating at Da Shrimp Hale for over a year. Let me first say that many feel that this spot in Maui Mall was a graveyard for numerous restaurants and businesses until Da Shrimp Hale came along. This restaurant has become my favorite restaurant for its fried catfish and Cajun fries. On this occasion, my friend and I also split an order of fried shrimp, which was excellent. Their fried items have a nice crispiness and flavor, which are unique and tasty. I've never tried their bag of shrimp, but it seems to be a popular menu item. I've also heard that the prime rib is good here. The prices are reasonable for all the menu items. It usually is t too crowded at lunch, so it's a convenient place to come to entertain business clients. read more

I've been here a few times in the last 2-3 years. Compared to other Shrimp Boil spots, this one falls a little short. However the only one on the island aside from their second location. We usually go with the combo which recently increased to $49.99 and $3 soft drinks. The amount they give isn't consistent, but seems to be less and less. This most recent time I went, we ordered a bunch of extra sides to go with the combo and it still felt lacking. Corn on the cob is about a 2 inch cut. Sausage is super thinly sliced, but it's good to pair with the seafood. It's about $1/slice, not worth it thinking about it now. They use the small red potatoes which is cut in half and counted as 1. So 3 pieces is actually 3 halves. However, the flavor is there, we always go cajun! The workers are always really nice and make sure you're taken cared of. The two of us got a combo for $40 to share. You get to choose 3 items, and then there's also fries, rice, corn, sausages, and potato. We chose shrimp, clams, and snow crab. We also swapped the potato for another corn. I really enjoyed the shrimp and the clams, while the snow crab was too salty for me. The clams were incredibly fresh and surprisingly my favorite since I usually prefer shrimp. We got all of the kine and medium spicy, and the flavors were delicious. Our fries could've used more cajun though. The portion is smaller than what we typically get at Boiling Crab and Kickin' Crab in CA. Get ready to play with your food! This is a no nonsense, served up fresh seafood joint with a few other options. I ordered the lobster with garlic butter flavor, medium hot. It came out within five minutes, a whole lobster, generous with meat, wrapped in a plastic bag and soaking and delicious sauce. Yes, they gave me a bib and plastic gloves for my hands. I skipped the bib but used the gloves. The server was kind enough to offer me scissors which are used! By going slowly and taking great care, I was able to eat all of the lobster without splashing any juice on my shirt :-) Prepare to drop about $45 plus tip on just one lobster. I would kill to get a place like this in a mall setting like these folks have put together. And living in the Seattle area, shouldn't be too hard, right? After bumping our red eye back home to Seattle that night, we had some time to kill. Just getting done with tattoos at Fathom Deep Ink and a trek out to the Ioa Needle park, we stumbled into this outdoor down town Maui mall. And we were floored. It was really bustling and had so much cool shit to offer. As a Yelper though, Da Shrimp Hale caught my eye. Being in the latter of the vaca, we had some solid seafood thus far. It was just something about the layout, the method, and draw of this place that piqued my interest. Didn't disappoint. It's your ol school seafood pot, get your bibs on, wet nap wipes ready, and prepare to get immersed in sloppy local seafood goodness. We spread around the love and did oysters, and shrimp, and lobster, oh my... Delicious... My only constructive criticism would be while the food doesn't reek mall food court quality, the table side demeanor of the staff did. They did seem younger, and the main girl hosting could have just been having a bad day, but a smile really does go a long way. Place is too solid for food to have less than inviting personalities repping it. All that aside, being used to food courts in malls that really just peddle average to commendable cafeteria food, this was a nice treat. read more
