Came recommended from a local. Had the seared ahi and a Baja fish taco. Both were GREAT! The ahi was so tender and the aioli completed it! Daughter had the Sloppy Jim, she demolished it and she is a very picky eater. Wife had the gluten free crab cake and a fish/shrimp taco. She said they were ok. Will definitely come back when I'm back on the island!
We had supper here last night and all of our entrees were excellent! The fish is fresh and hot and prices are reasonable! Very little seating available. Seems like most people order for take out. Nice variety of meal choices!
Freshest fish! I had the fish plate, which consisted of grilled mahi mahi and a salad instead of rice. The fish tasted like the ocean and was perfectly flaky. The kalua pork came mixed with peppers and cabbage, and I substituted fries for an extra charge. Aside from the additional cost for the substitutions, everything was perfect. Food in Hawaii is expensive pretty much anywhere you go, but the quality here was worth it.
Catch of the day was mahi mahi, which was super fresh and cooked well. I got the seafood platter which came with rice, Mac salad, and coconut curry, all of which were delicious. We also got a side of the oyster shooters (sooo fresh) and then the seafood chowder (which I didn't think was anything special and would pass on for next time). Seating is limited, so be prepared to take your food to eat elsewhere.
This had got to be the BEST spot on the west side of Maui. We've eaten here twice during our trip already, and might eat here a third time before we leave. There's a fast casual portion, and a fish market portion. I recommend trying the selections from both. The seared tuna was perfectly seasoned and the freshness of the fish was evident. We ordered the poke and grilled scallops the second time and were blown away by the freshness of the tuna and sweetness of the scallops. There's casual self-seating both on the inside and outside of the restaurant, although you may have to wait for a table depending on time of day.
The fish tacos and kalua pork tacos we had at The Fish Market Maui were among the best we'd ever tasted, so we came back repeatedly on our vacation. Super fresh ingredients, double tortillas so that the tacos don't fall apart, and reasonable prices (for Maui) if you get the tacos a la carte ($6 each). You get a lot for that money, as they pack the tacos full, with plenty of meat. I, for one, was especially a fan of the pork tacos. Amazingly good. The pico de gallo and cole slaw are excellent, too. Certainly not a fancy place; this is definitely casual take-away, though we ate there at the counter a couple of times, and it was fun to see the customers stream in and out of the place. Service is pretty quick, even when they are busy, so don't be too daunted by a longer line unless you are in a super big hurry. You won't find better fish in West Maui.
So glad I found this spot! There are a series of casual restaurants along this small strip mall. Walking in, the right side has a counter for purchasing seafood and poke. The left side has the hot food where you can order fish tacos, etc. I wasn't sure which poke to get and the guy behind the counter gave me samples to try. Ended up buying two different types and I ordered fresh rice next door to go. Prices are reasonable and the service is friendly and fast, highly recommend!

Located in a small shopping center with very tight parking, this fish market seemed pretty busy during our visit. I ordered tacos but there was a mix-up, and I was given fish tacos, which I currently cannot eat for medical reasons. When I brought it to the counter's attention, the response was basically that it was our fault because the order had supposedly been repeated back correctly. I highly doubt that happened accurately, considering avoiding certain fish right now is not a preference issue for me. Food-wise, the tacos were fine but nothing memorable. The lobster bisque also wasn't what you'd typically expect, so just be aware of that before ordering. Seating is limited to only a few outdoor tables, and people were pretty much waiting around for them to open up. Overall, I'm honestly unsure why this place is rated so highly. It's okay, but definitely not out-of-this-world seafood.

Stopped by here to pick up food for an afternoon snack. Poke was super fresh and flavorful - my friends really enjoyed it. I got a side of mac salad & lobster bisque - the mac salad was ok (I've had better) but the lobster bisque was so tasty and came in a big portion. Definitely a great stop for either snacks or a full meal. Heads up though that there's only a few tables and it could get crowded. It's more of a market to pickup food to go.

5/5 The Fish Market Maui came recommended by a local, and compared to other restaurants even higher-end spots the food here is top quality and super fresh. I had the catch of the day, which was Mahi-Mahi, and it was flavorful, bold, and affordable. The food was so good that I had to try other options on their menu, so I ordered the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and a chicken burrito. Everything was delicious! If you are visiting Maui and looking for a great fish market and restaurant, I highly recommend checking this place out. read more

Swung by for dinner one night because they listed gluten free food on the menu (not super easy to find in Hawaii...) Ordered one shrimp taco, one fish taco and one gluten free crab cake (hubs ordered seared ahi and a baja fish taco while kid ordered sloppy jim) Hubs and kid loved their dinner and mine was just okay - texture on the crab cake was a bit mushy and the flavor was all bell peppers (which I can not stand!!), the tacos i ordered the pineapple salsa on the side, which I added to both and I felt like it was the only flavor on the tacos :( Was an okay gluten free dinner as it did the trick, but won't be craving it any time soon read more

Stopped by here to pick up food for an afternoon snack. Poke was super fresh and flavorful - my friends really enjoyed it. I got a side of mac salad & lobster bisque - the mac salad was ok (I've had better) but the lobster bisque was so tasty and came in a big portion. Definitely a great stop for either snacks or a full meal. Heads up though that there's only a few tables and it could get crowded. It's more of a market to pickup food to go. read more
It's amazing how they are able to. Help some many customers. It's down to a science! We've been here on most of our Maui trips and are always pleased. My husband had the fish chowder, it was piping hot with lots of fish. My son had the lobster bisque and was also quite pleased with it. They both had leftovers! They also split fish and chips- perfectly cooked, nice size, fires are also good. I had their house bbq calamari and fries. It's probably close to a whole calamari steak. The strips are large and meaty (5). I ate 3 and my husband finished them off. It busy but if you wait a few minutes chances are good you can get a table. They also sell fresh fish, a local told us it's probably the freshest place to buy fish on the island! read more
The left side of the counter is for cooked entrées, while the right side is for all the raw items. I was glad my husband ordered a few things from the hot side because all of the daily poke options were spicy on the day we visited, which meant I couldn't really enjoy them. Parking and seating are very limited here, but luckily our Airbnb was nearby and were able to enjoy lunch on our lanai instead. We shared the Ono fish sandwich, a mahi taco, and a curry plate with shrimp, fish, and scallops. We also picked up half a pound each of the ahi poke and shrimp poke since we were already in line. My favorites were definitely the sandwich and the taco, though everything was solid. My husband enjoyed the poke since he's fine with a little heat. This spot is very touristy, so I'd recommend arriving right when they open to avoid long lines. read more

Okay so there was the review I thought I was going to post while I was getting into the pork plate and then theres the review I have to write after I saw what I saw. Not once but THREEEEE TIMES we watched an employee behind the counter open the doors to the fish, grab the shrimp ceviche with his fingers and put it directly into his mouth. THREE TIMES. While facing the dining/ordering area. And after running his hands through his hair, working in the kitchen and then coming back to do it again. I hope the employee does not have food scarcity but if he does, please be hygienic. We were sick and put our forks down after that. read more
Excellent food! We got here a minute before the lunch rush. Me and my husband shared a fish burrito and calamari platter. The fish burrito was juicy, so be careful about it spilling out. The calamari was tender and crispy - perfect. There's limited seating and parking, we got lucky and snagged a parking spot and one of three tables outside so be prepared to eat elsewhere! read more

5/5 One of the best local spots on the west side of Maui My wife and I recently stopped in and ordered their coconut crushed fish of the day (mahi) plate, scallops, tacos and coconut shrimp. Topped it all off with chips, guacamole and mango salsa. The food is so good and reasonably priced. It might be our new go to for getting food to go and watching the sunset from the condo. I feel horrible giving a three star review to a non-chain restaurant. When I came last year, I considered giving a three star review due to bland food, but decided it could've been a one off despite trying four different items with my family. I returned back today to try the macadamia nut crusted fish of the day (mahi) as well as the calamari steak sandwich. Both items were extremely bland to the point where we did not finish them. However, I will say the french fries were good. Nothing else is wrong. The service was fine. The selection was fine. The food just does not have enough flavor. The fish is fresh. It just needs more seasoning. read more
I was craving a poke bowl so I stopped in and so glad I did. It was so delicious and packed full of flavor. I told the gentleman working it was my birthday and to surprise me by putting together something really good and he did just that! So fresh. So flavorful. Definitely recommend! read more
We love stopping by here every time we visit Maui since it was a short driving distance and is also walkable from the Westin resort we usually stay at. There's two sections inside, one to order poke and the other side of for food. We've gotten poke from here before and it is so fresh and delicious. Definitely worth trying at least once since there are so many options to get poke in Maui. Now, what we always get from here are the baja fish tacos. The batter on the fish is light and crispy, and the fish is so good! The tarter sauce is also very flavorful. There's not a lot of places that does battered fish tacos well like here. There's only one other spot I like and that's in San Diego. The staff are all very friendly here. There are seats inside and they also have tables outside. Parking can be limited but you can easily park down the street and walk over. I highly recommend checking out the Fish Market if you're craving fish tacos and poke! read more
The Fish Market is a place to not only buy fish but to also grab a meal, mine was Shrimp & Fries. This deep fried lunch was good, where I rate the food quality as average the quantity was nice, 12 shrimp on a bed of fries. Known also for their tacos, others with me did the Baja Tacos and thought they were very good. The Fish Market has some tables outside, inside just a few counter seats. read more
In search of a local spot with delicious poke not too far from the hotels at Kaanapali ? Look no further than here! Located just about 10/15 min away from Whalers Village, we drove here for some poke and chips to hold us over until our late dinner reservation. It's located in a bit of a strip mall and could easily be missed if you're not looking closely! There are a few stools inside and a couple of tables outside for customers to sit but I will say overall seating is a bit limited. The service was fantastic! Upon walking in we were kindly greeted and told about what their more popular options were. We settled on two kinds of poke, a bag of chips, and two orders of rice. While vacationing in Maui, we decided to stop by The Fish Market as it was 1) only a few minutes away from our hotel and 2) I wasn't leaving Maui without having a macadamia nut crusted fish! We debated going to Monkeypod in Whaler's but a dish there runs $40-50 each so this was a much more economical alternative. Macadamia Nut Crusted Fish: This is one of the daily specials, and the fish depends on whatever the fish of the day is. We got Opah, which according to one of the signs in the restaurant is a richer but firm fish. The fish itself was super bland, and the mac nut crust didn't taste seasoned either. Comes with a side of some sweet tangy sauce which definitely made it better, esp with a bite of mac salad. For the price though ($22.99), this was a pretty good deal. Shrimp Burrito: David really enjoyed his burrito. The cheese was perfectly melted, the shrimp were giant and very heavily seasoned, and the burrito itself was saucy which is how I like my burritos. We ordered takeout and ate it back at our hotel while watching the sunset and listening to live music (awesome decision), but there is limited seating in the restaurant if you do decide to eat it there. Parking was also easy to find right out front. Overall, I'd rate it a 3.5 and would definitely recommend it if you're not trying to break the bank every night considering food in Maui is pretty expensive. read more

We came in around 12PM on a Saturday for some tacos! There is a parking lot. There is also indoor and outdoor seating - limited but comfortable! Service was good you just order a the register. We got the fish taco platter and the shrimp taco platter to share. It comes with rice and mac salad. The mac salad is very creamy. The fish in the fish taco is huge but I actually preferred the shrimp taco more! Would definitely come back. read more

Delicious fish tacos, shrimp,Mac salad. One grilled and one deep fried taco on the lunch plate, double tortilla's,red onion, cream sauce, steamed rice,all good. Mrs had the coconut shrimp with spicy sweet sauce and a Mexican Coke. 2nd inline at 10:50 and there was six other people waiting behind us prior to opening at 11. Friendly and fast service. Stopped by for a quick bite from a hike and was really impressed. The place offers fresh fish and a great variety of seafood entrées, including sandwiches, burritos, and tacos. I ordered two fish tacos and two shrimp tacos, which came with rice and mac salad. The tacos were delicious--nicely seasoned with generous portions and fresh pico de gallo, and the spicy mayo was served on the side, which was perfect. The wait time was very minimal even during a peak time. The staff were very friendly, and the place itself was clean and welcoming. Overall, a yummy meal. One of my favorite local eateries! read more

First meal in Maui! I knew I wanted some poke but was surprised to find that the Lahaina area didn't actually have many poke options. So, I was really excited to find this spot not too far from where I was staying, and even more excited to find that they had other options besides poke for my friends who aren't as into raw food. I got a half-pound of their marlin with two scoops of rice and a side of seaweed salad. It was my first time having marlin, and the texture and sauce they prepared it with were delicious and super buttery. I was a bit confused and overwhelmed trying to order at first, but the staff were really patient and helpful in explaining how everything worked. It can get pricey since they sell by weight, but just know that you can absolutely order less than a pound--and sometimes that's more than enough! 10/10 The seaweed salad was excellent. I'm not sure if it was made in-house, but it tasted very fresh. My friends got the fish tacos and Kalua pork tacos, and both said they were delicious! I tried some of the mac salad and was really impressed--it had a bit of a coleslaw flavor, which felt unique for mac salad and which I really enjoyed. Both meals were an incredible value, too, coming with mac salad and rice. Seating was limited, with bar seating along the walls and a few tables outdoors, but overall, I enjoyed the food here. read more

Do they sell fresh fish - raw fresh fish?
Yes! Enter through the door on the right.
Do they take reservations?
No they do not. It's not really a sit down type of place. There are small tables outside.
Do we need reservation for party of two?
They don't take reservations. It's WAY too small. But still WAY worth going.
Are there any gluten free options?
I believe they have corn tortillas, and I'm sure there are fish options that aren't battered. There's also a little Mexican joint at the opposite end of the strip mall.
