Da Sweet Spot I one of a big selection of food trucks in Kihei Maui. This is a real nice food truck lot behind Paia Fish Market. We have tried all kinds of Shave Ice including a highly rated one at the Westin in Kaanapali. Sorry Westin this food truck Shave ice just blew you out of the water. I love the different flavor combinations my granddaughter and I shared a Rainbow while my wife and grandson destroyed a Sunset. Sooo good. We had to come back for more a couple of days later. It's been a few days since I've been back in the mainland and I am CRAVING this shave ice! My husband and I came back to Kihei Food Oasis and finally had some room for something refreshing because it was a very HOT day! This shaved ice was so good! We got the shareable size, we did regular and mango flavor with the dole whip in the middle added some toppings with mochi, strawberries and kiwi along with the condensed milk. When I say this was good I mean it! Service was great! The girls let us try toppings we weren't familiar with and the spot is so cute! Love the ambiance here! Nothing rounds out a island day-trip like a shave ice and I'm so glad that we got to check out Da Sweet Spot! When you think you've tried every type of shave ice out there, there's always someone else putting their own creative twist on the treat. Da Sweet Spot specializes in bàobīng which originated in Taiwan. The biggest difference between bàobīng and a regular shave ice is that bàobīng uses condensed milk instead of syrup flavoring. Here they have regular condensed milk and strawberry, matcha, and ube for a $2 upcharge. I went with the sharable ube bàobīng with rice balls, egg pudding and fresh fruit. The rice balls were my favorite part-- they were sweet, chewy, and you can just tell that they are made fresh! We also go their hapa which is shave ice and soft serve inside and we got the "sunset" with strawberry and mango with fresh strawberry and mango popping jelly. I loved all the different textures on this one but wish it came with the rice balls. The ambiance in this whole little food truck spot was very peaceful and had lots of areas to sit and enjoy. If / when I come back to Maui I'll be sure to check out this spot again. read more

They are located in the back among several other food trucks at South Maui Gardens, it's the perfect spot to treat yourself. I had the rainbow shaved ice, but swapped out the pineapple flavor for my personal preference. For just an extra dollar, you can add vanilla ice cream -- and of course, I couldn't resist. I used to always get bling bing back when it was by azeka in the little trailer and loved it. I've only been to their newer location at south maui gardens about 3 times and literally every time I've gone the girls working seem so unenthusiastic and not very happy to see you when you walk up. Every time we drove past Ululani's, the line was around the building and not seeming to move at all. On a recommendation, we came to Da Sweet Spot instead and it did not disappoint! No line at all when we went around 3:30 on a Tuesday, and it was delicious! My girlfriend and I were exploring Kihei on a warm Maui afternoon and stopped into the South Maui Gardens food truck park. Da Sweet Spot by Bling Bing caught our eye right away with its colorful setup and shady garden seating... the perfect spot to cool off. We'd never had real BàoBīng before, and this is apparently the only place on the whole island serving the authentic Chinese/Taiwanese version. It's a nice twist on the usual Hawaiian shave ice: the snow is shaved super fine and light, almost like actual snow, and they flavor it throughout with creamy condensed milk instead of just pouring syrup on top. I built my own with the ube condensed milk (that subtle nutty purple yam flavor is fantastic), fresh strawberries, pineapple, and mochi. The ice melted perfectly, the ube gave it a rich but not-too-sweet creaminess, and the chewy mochi with the juicy fruit was spot on. My girlfriend went for one of their Hapas... the fun half shave ice, half soft serve fusion with pineapple Dole whip vibes and tropical toppings... and she couldn't stop smiling. Everything tasted fresh, generous, and thoughtfully put together. The whole experience felt original and special without trying too hard. Friendly service, quality ingredients, and a relaxed garden vibe made it one of our favorite stops on the trip. We'll definitely swing by again next time we're in south Maui. Looking for a different type of shave ice experience? Look no further than da sweet spot! This place is a fusion between Hawaiian shave ice and bing su! They have a delicious ube condensed milk topping as well as various fresh cut up fruits like strawberries and blueberries! We also got rice balls which were chewy and highly recommend if you like that texture! And mochi which was soft and plentiful! I wished the condensed milk sunk into the ice more and it wasn't for lack of trying but it's just thicker than the normal syrup. So the middle of my shave ice didn't have any of that delicious ube flavor. The ice wasn't as soft either as some other places I've been to in the past and I'm not sure if it was weather related (like humidity?) or something else. Anyways still worth trying! They dont really have flavors but rather flavor of condensed milk. We were debating about matcha condensed milk or ube condensed milk and the person helping us out helpfully suggested he was able to do half and half. Two toppings came with it and we got golden kiwi and mango jelly. The kiwis were so sweet!! I really cant get over the matcha condensed milk though! I've had matcha bingsoo at other places but it was matcha powder on top of the shaved ice. Ive never tasted something so great before and can see why the ratings are soooo good. It was tasty but really, really sweet and too big for one person (my fault I suppose, but I wanted to try the special Passion dish). The mochi was really powdery, and I felt that was distracting from the dish. The popping boba were tasty, but I would've preferred some kind of jelly. Not many choices for the ice cream--got vanilla and it was meh. Overall, it has a lot of potential but wasn't my favorite. Maybe would have enjoyed a different item more. Probably worth trying once.
