This restaurant is overall mid. The dishes are affordable with low starting prices but the quality is not there. The quality is slightly above the Indiana University dining halls. I don't understand the hype of this restaurant with wait times being up to 1 hour on weekends to be seated. I ordered Spaghetti with meatballs and the noodles were too thick with water at the bottom of my noodles which I find odd the meatballs are also to moist it's almost as if the meat was on creatine. The margarita pizza is very poor the dough is too light and there is almost no sauce we couldn't even finish it. Went here with a party of 12 last night for mom's weekend with my daughter's sorority. They do not take reservations but were happy to do call ahead and accommodated is easily. Wine selection was a bit sparse for an Italian place but the Cabernet I had was excellent. Their ovens were down so only about 1/2 of the menu was available. Bummer but they had the info on the door and told us at the table too so we stayed. I had the penne allo vodka with extra spicy. It was pretty good. Bruschetta appetizer was delicious. Daughter had the Alfredo which she loved. Atmosphere was not super intimate like I expect in an Italian restaurant but this is a college town so I guess they adjusted to that? Short summary: I was sceptical at first, after waiting a very long time to get seated, but the food was well worth the wait. And personally, I think it is waaay better than King Dough. Cheaper, too. And, if you want the longer review: When we arrived, all of the tables had used dishes. It looked like they just got through a very busy lunch rush before we arrived. My boyfriend and I arrived around 3:00pm. We like eating around then because the lunch rush is over and dinner rush hasn't began. It's the perfect time to eat at restaurants; you can get fast and good service since there aren't too many customers yet. Da Vinci's has a beer and wine list. My boyfriend got the Space Dust beer and I stuck with water. For our meal, I ordered the special for the day that was not on the menu but it was written on the chalkboard right across from where I was sitting. The special was a calzone called "Saporssata Calzone". The regular menu doesn't include calzones, but they do have pizza and pasta. The Saporssata Calzone had provolone, ricotta, parmesan, mozzerella, hot honey, and saporsata (which looked more like prosciutto than saporsata, which I personally like better anyways). The hot honey was dizzled on top; it worked really well with the saltiness of the meat. It didn't come with any dipping sauce. The honey was enough to mix up the flavors. My boyfriend ordered the Del Papa pizza, which he really enjoyed, but he said that he liked my calzone better than his pizza. He also stated that the hot honey was amazing on the pizza. The pizza was baked in a wood fire oven. I personally think that the quality of their dough is a lot better than King Dough's. Their dough wasn't soggy when they put all the toppings and sauces on it. King Dough's pizza is always soggy, limp and way more expensive. Da vinci's gets 5 stars today in my book. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Insane that we would find literally some of the best pizza I have had in the US in Bloomington IN, but seriously I'm not kidding. Puffiest, lightest Neapolitan crust I have had anywhere and when they top with anchovies it's not the canned shit you get everywhere else in the US (unless super high end places). This is the full, pickled, European style topping I am used to in other countries. If you are passing through here and end up missing this place it's a damn shame. read more

Not surprising this place is always packed. The pizza is great and there are great vegan options, especially the "Vegana" pizza. I'd love to see a vegan appetizer and a pasta too (other than the gluten free one, which is ok but not as good as the pizza). Came with my 3 family members (all with past Italian experience including myself) and we all thoroughly liked what we got. Got the Bolognese and was really pleased as it tasted just how I remember in Italy. The pizzas are really good as well and you'd be surprised to know that the dough is all vegan! Very good. Only thing was the bruschetta... not at all like Italy and had a funny taste (sweet almost?) Cesar salads were great as well as it wasn't drenched in oil and sauce. Carry out order: I ordered the Truffle Tortellini for $16 through Doordash. The cook on the tortellini was good and not overcooked and the flavor of the black truffle that was used was just the right amount. Though quite honestly, it needed a light sprinkle of salt and I wish the sauce was a little thicker as it was on the watery side. If they thicken their sauce a bit for the dish, it'd be 5/5 stars despite the salt which can be adjusted to a customer's taste. We recently had dinner at Da Vinci's before a basketball game. We started with the meatball appetizer which I highly recommend. The best meatballs I've had in a really long time. For dinner I had the zoodles with a pesto cream sauce which was delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his wood fired pizza. The restaurant is surrounded by large windows, and it was a bit chilly inside. But it was nicely decorated and especially now at Christmas time. The service was excellent.
