If you want to try Da Vinci, go for the lunch special. It goes M-F until 3pm. They don't really market it but you get a crazy amount of food for just $10.99. My wife and I just stopped in this afternoon to share a pizza. We had La Sophia and swapped the salsa bianca for the pesto. It was excellent! We can't wait to go back and try some other pizzas and pastas. The pizza oven looks great and reminds me of those we'd see while living in NYC. Hands down best pizza in town. They've got the good Italian ovens that cook fast, and the crust is always beautiful. The atmosphere inside is not always the best for chit chat because there are a lot of hard surfaces to bounce noise. It gets pretty loud on a busy night, but the service is consistently excellent and if you've got good weather, sitting on the patio is much more forgiving (especially if you have an older crew with you). The pizza was incredibly sad and floppy. The pasta was inedible because they included meat in a dish which was vegetarian. The garlic bread was alright until a mysterious sticky brown substance was discovered half way through on the bottom of the bread. That was the end of the meal for me. Overall not bad, liked the atmosphere, liked the salad and liked the pizza, not the best I've ever had, but would certainly give their other pizzas or pastas another shot. We just ate here for the first time and it was really delicious! We were a party of three, two of us ordered the Linguini DaVinci and one ordered the Shrimp Penne. Both dishes were delicious- just the right portion size, perfectly cooked pasta, very fresh ingredients and the sauces were just the right consistency. Writing this review as I promised an awesome waitress today that I would. Here's why: I lived close-by while the restaurant was being built. I happened to walk by today (without my wallet), stopped inside, and the waitress insisted on offering some of their pizza. Best pizza in town! I got a build-your-own with pesto, goat cheese, and grilled chicken and my boyfriend got a Del Hogan (red sauce, meatballs, gorgonzola, and roasted mushrooms). The crusts are thin and tastefully seasoned, while the cheese is ultra-fresh and not over-done. let me start by saying i usually go for the pera salad, the burrata appetizer and the garlic cheese bread which is quite good. big fan of their appetizers & salads, pizza can be good but unfortunately the pasta dishes tend to be quite bland and underwhelming. i got the fettucine alfredo with chicken and my friend got what was supposed to have gotten the penne alla vodka- both of which needed a good amount of salt and pepper to say the least. not saying it was bad! just nothing all that impressive, really. good for a quick bite to eat though! read more

Overall great experience! My girlfriend and I went for a late Valentine's Day celebration and got an order of Cheese Bread, Burrata, Pollo Pasta, and Seafood Ravioli. Both pastas and the cheese bread were rich in flavor and well worth the price as anything with their pesto cream sauce is phenomenal. The burrata itself was fantastic as well we just were left wishing for a few more pieces of bread and tomatoes to spread the burrata on as it only came with four small pieces. I had a delicious glass of wine and our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Only point that detracted from our experience was that the electronic waitlist system did not notify us directly when our time was up so I had to manually check and confirm our table was ready. Dinner was around 80 dollars with tip which included two appetizers, two entrees, and 1 glass of wine. Would recommend! read more

We were traveling through Bloomington and randomly stopped at Da Vinci while walking to a bus station. We were in a hurry and I really appreciated how courteous the staff was when we asked if there was any way to rush our order so that we could still get to our bus on time that was taking us out of the city. On top of it all, the pizza was delicious. I don't know the next time I'll be back in Indiana, but if the day does come I will make an effort to stop again at Da Vinci. read more

Although my pizza was good i have to leave a one star review for the horrible service. We were not given a waiter or waitress the whole night. The workers seemed extremely confused. We asked to speak to the manager and no one came to the table to speak with us. (That was rude) They were also awfully unprofessional on a busy night and should learn how to manage the restaurant better. Hurt to have to even pay for my bill here. Da Vinci has quality food and typically subpar service. The food taste very fresh and the wood fired oven makes the crust taste so good. The caprino is an amazing appetizer. It is there crust and your dip it in a goat cheese marinara. It is incredible. There spaghetti is a bit bland but if you spice it up with the red pepper flakes it brings the flavors together. The meatballs are good as well. We customize the pizza typically and pick our favorite toppings. If the service improved my rating would improve as well. read more

tl;dr: Save your money, go next door and get some Indian food. As someone from New York, I have been looking for a decent Italian restaurant in btown for years, to limited success. I'm not looking for an Il Mulino, I'm just looking for some simple, well-cooked pasta. We sat down and ordered a penne with pesto and chicken, and a Napoli-style margherita pizza. The pizza was good, if only on the doughy end. Sauce was better than almost every pizza sauce in this town (I'm looking at you Mother Bears)-- bright and not overly sweet, good acidic flavor. The basil was not super fresh, but I don't hold that against them. But that pasta. That pasta knocked this otherwise recommendable restaurant down two notches for us. First rule of cooking pasta: salt your pasta water before putting in the pasta. Otherwise, your pasta becomes an overly priced but underseasoned bowl of gloop. The pesto and chicken itself was actually quite nice! But the dish is a pasta dish, and for ~$15 a dish we would have expected they would do basic things. I originally thought they just made a mistake with our dish, so I asked if they could ask the chef if they normally salted their pasta water-- if they did, they probably just forgot on our dish. Sadly, they told me they don't normally perform step 1 of pasta cooking, so I probably won't be recommending this place anytime soon. Anyway, summary again: too expensive for what you get, but I would have forgiven it if they at least made it tasty. read more

I ordered the Da Vinci pizza on a gluten free crust. My husband got crumbled sausage, caramelized onions, and banana peppers on the regular crust. The flavors on both pizzas were really good, however both pizzas were soft and floppy. I guess some people might like that style of pizza, but I don't prefer it. Almost seems underbaked. However I do appreciate that they offer a gluten free crust. And I loved that my pizza had peppadew peppers because I love those and I don't see them offered very often. read more

This is probably the best thin crust pizza you'll ever have. Okay, I know that sounds like hyperbole, but, really, I only discovered them a couple of months ago and every time I go back I'm shocked at how good it is. I'm older than dirt and have been a pizza lover since I was a child, lived in NY for five years where great pizza is everywhere, have eaten pizza in Rome and Venice and LA and San Francisco and and and... and honestly, I think Da Vinci's is the best thin crust pizza I've had. (Amazingly, Bloomington, IN also has the best thick crust I've had, at Mother Bear's. We are frigging lucky here.) I was expressing my amazement over the quality of the pizza to someone at the restaurant and he told me they import their flour from Italy. It is fantastic. Yeasty, soft, chewy, perfectly salted, and when it comes out of the brick oven you could happily enjoy it with nothing on it. Their pomodoro sauce is bright, rich, and tangy. The fior de latte cheese is excellent. I've tried a couple of topping combinations, that were also great, but I keep going back to the simple Margherita pizza, and just plain can't get enough. I start craving it if I go for more than a week without visiting the place. I have also tried their pasta, once. I had a simple spaghetti and meatballs, and it was quite good. Comparable in quality to DeAngelo's. Not quite as good as Osteria Rago. Really, it was very good. It's just that I crave their pizza so much I can't bring myself to order pasta when I go there. read more

The food at da Vinci was great and I loved the environment. However the running of the kitchen was terrible. Our waiter had to remind the kitchen multiple times and even reorder our food. At a point she took someone else's order and gave it to us. Our food took forever. The restaurant did not run well which is a shame because the food was so good. But our waiter Julia was amazing. I had heard good things about da Vinci and it definitely lived up to the hype! The first time I was there I ordered a pasta with a truffle cream sauce, however, flavor-wise, it wasn't really my jam. However the meatball appetizer we ordered was amazing, a perfect spicy kick to the sauce. I also have ordered a pizza from there that had a great flavor - Gorgonzola and hot honey. My husband loved their bolognese. Their da Vinci bread with marinara and ranch is okay - it's plain oven baked pizza bread, which is good, and the marinara is fresh, but the ranch wasn't my style, tasted like hidden valley, not buttermilk style. All in all, I can't wait to keep returning and trying different menu items! The patio is lovely too. read more
