We always come here in the off-season, typically on a Saturday - early afternoon. The bar is HUGE (and the chairs are actually quite comfy)... the restaurant is large itself, with tables grouped in little "rooms" (quite cute!). Whenever we come here, we sit at the bar - you can never go wrong with that! The bartenders are always friendly and helpful, and offer suggestions to the menu. You can't go wrong with the Spicy Tuna Tacos or the Blistered Shishito Peppers ... and the French Onion Gnocchi is what dreams are made of - absolutely delicious!! The ONLY gripe I have, is that the menu hasn't changed in a long time (exact same menu from a year ago - at the very least). Keep the favorites, but switch it up!! read more

Daddy-Os was my favorite restaurant on the island for years. It was my Dad and I's spot. We'd go to the rooftop bar get two paloma's, the spicy tuna tacos, mango tango sushi, and the scallops. It was the best food and the best service. Sadly that is no longer the case. My family and I went to Daddy-Os this week on a week night and waited 20 to 30 min for the second half of our tables' meal. When the other meals arrived they were overcooked. They also swapped out the risotto bed with the scallops with burnt carrots and baby corn. It was not good at all. My sisters marg tasted like it was doused with spoonfuls of sugar. The drinks were watered down and not flavorful at all especially for $15.00 per drink. Stick to beer or straight up alcohol. We ordered cheese curds for an appetizer that were supposed to come with a cheese sauce. The cheese curds were delicious but mistakenly came with tartar sauce which did not pair well. We ordered a Caesar salad which consisted of brown bagged lettuce with spongy croutons , roasted peppers and barely any dressing. We also got shrimp tacos that were supposed to come with fresh avocado which was missing but weirdly had yellow mustard on the taco. The bacon fig grilled cheese was flavorful and delicious and the burger was flavorful. For the price , the meals and drinks were definitely not worth it. In addition we were charged a service fee for a credit card even though we paid in cash. What a gem! Stopped here for lunch with a friend. Had a nice little lunch menu. We both got the shrimp tacos and had soup with them (it was a cold December day). The potato and leek soup was so good and thanks to the bartender for suggesting we add bacon on top, it took it to the next level! The tacos were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. It took us asking for water 4 times before we finally got and because they didn't come by much that was quite a while after we sat. The drinks were also super slow. We actually asked for a bill thinking they forgot about us for a second round before they said they actually were making the drinks and then it still took another 10 minutes. After looking at the reviews we see that this place clearly doesn't consider customer service a priority as this happened in many of the previous reviews. Went there for brunch and it far exceeded my expectations. The mimosa kit was delicious (although they say it's for five people when really it's probably for three). Chicken and waffles were fantastic....maybe the best waffles I've ever had. They had a sugary crust baked into them which balanced well with the saltiness of the chicken and collard greens. I do not recommend getting married or hosting events here. 1. Wedding Setup: We were informed that we could set up the room the day before the wedding. However, when we arrived, this was not the case. It appeared that none of your staff, including management, were aware of our plans, and it seemed as though we had never communicated before. Our setup team was simply told, "we will take care of it." I have text messages and email proof confirming that we had two hours scheduled for setup. Ultimately, we were told that we could only set up the room on the day of the wedding, which is completely unacceptable. Additionally, there seemed to be an undue focus on setting up the outdoor area, which was never used due to weather. Despite being told there would be a backup plan, we had to provide the backup plan ourselves while waiting to walk down a non-existent aisle due to the lack of proper setup. 2. Rehearsal Run-Through: When we requested a quick rehearsal run-through, it was clear that your leadership team viewed us as an inconvenience. Specifically, Jon Karp's demeanor made it evident that he had other commitments and did not wish to assist us. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere during what should have been a straightforward and stress-free rehearsal. 3. Wedding Day: The day of the wedding was fraught with issues, beginning with a significant delay because Jon Karp did not allow us to set up as agreed upon. Our team arrived to find that nothing had been prepared, requiring them to spend over two hours setting up. While we understand that the weather was beyond your control, moving the ceremony indoors was handled adequately. Pete, in particular, was extremely helpful and deserves recognition for his efforts. Despite these challenges, the event itself went well, largely due to the outstanding performance of your waitstaff, bartenders, and food service team. They truly excelled and were a highlight of our experience. We would also like to recognize Pete Palladino for all of the support that was provided. 4. Overall Experience: At times, it felt as though your venue had never hosted a wedding before. For instance, during our attempts to set up the day prior, I was asked to confirm the guest count, which had already been provided multiple times, including in the seating chart. The South Room was specifically chosen to accommodate our guest count, yet during setup, the General Manager stated, "we can't fit 75 in the South Room," despite two prior walkthroughs where this number was agreed upon. In summary, while the food and service staff were exceptional, the overall experience was marred by poor coordination and communication. It gave the impression that once payment was made, the quality of service was no longer a priority. This event represented a significant financial commitment for us, and we hope that our feedback will be taken seriously. Do not have your wedding here, it will be a disappointment, unless of course you are looking to be dissatisfied and groped by the GM. read more

Great location only a block or two from the beach. Hotel is older but remodeled inside. Some issues with the age like the floor being uneven leaving a big gap above our room door. Felt a bit uncomfortable. Some water damage from AC unit. Service was excellent very nice restaurant- we had several good meals there. Parking across the street. Since the hotel is on a main road it could be loud at times. Our room was over the live music in bar so we had to wait for that to end to relax in the room at night. read more

Then I overheard the next table raving about the gumbo, which was their soup of the day, so our server gave us a sample. And wow, it was the best gumbo I've had in a long time. I ordered a cup to go! I've been to Daddy O a few times and have never had a bad experience. But this time in particular was my favorite! It was busy since it was the end of the season. We sat in the outdoor patio section which was really cute. For appetizers we got the crab dip and a sushi special. Crab dip was delicious and perfect amount! And the sushi special was very good. It does only come with 4 pieces though. My boyfriend isn't a big sushi person and he said this is his all time favorite sushi he's ever had. For entrees I got the spicy tuna tacos because it was highly recommended which lived up to the hype! I also got a side of the bacon risotto which was good. My boyfriend got the ribeye cheesesteak and omgg that was to die for!! It melted in our mouths!! My boyfriend says this was his favorite meal of the summer!! Don't put on the menu that it's a pot of mussels, when it's a small bowl, and don't bring it with one piece of bread for the whole table and then have the audacity to charge $5 for a second piece of bread. It's good bread, but you've got to be kidding me. Also, don't say that it's an "upcharge" to swap out fries for side salad when the upcharge is $7. That's not an upcharge, that's the cost of a whole salad. I know businesses are struggling after COVID, but you are pricing yourself out of return customers. read more

You have to go downstairs for the restroom and they don't have heat upstairs. First level is the place to be. Menus are on their website using a QR code. I order their Chicken and Waffles with greens. I was not so impressed with this meal. It's one chicken, small waffle and the greens. Not sure they make the waffles there. Chicken wasn't juicy, felt like they fried up the chicken ahead of time and heat it up when you order. My wife had the sea scallops. She enjoyed the meal. Her risotto wasn't hot and I agreed. However the scallops were cooked perfectly and I would order that if I returned. The star of this meal was the pecan bread with salted Carmel ice-cream. Wow was that pecan bread moist, full of salt and sweetness. It really was a perfect dessert. I would go back just for that and a coffee. Overall my score was a 3 but my wife said a 4 so I will go with it. I like the scenery on the 1 floor and the wind is blocked. It a nice place with upscale food, but I think it's a hit or miss. It has been a while since our last trip to Daddy O's and it will be our last. The meal was one of the worst ever. The Steak and noodle salad was supposed to be a filet but it clearly wasn't and was very tough. The greens were smothered in a salad dressing that had a strange taste. My son-in-law and I couldn't eat more than a couple of mouthfuls leaving about a half pound of the greens. My sons $64 Surf and Turf had the same tough "filet" although he said the scallops were OK. My wife's flounder tasted like it was frozen a couple of times and was on its way out. Actually it had very little taste. Disgraceful, for what they charge you should expect fresh fish. No bread or rolls of any kind were served before the main course. Much of the appetizers were left uneaten and entrees had more than half left on the plate. The server did ask if we wanted to take them home and we politely declined, although at no time did the server ask if something was wrong since so much of the food was left. In fact half of the pizza for the kids was left and that usually never happens. It looked like sauce on cardboard. Oh, and $7 for a 12 ounce can of Miller light. NO draught beer or bottle beer at all. I rarely leave a review and I can count on one hand negative reviews giving the restaurant the benefit of doubt since things can go wrong. There was so much wrong here that it's clear to me that Daddy O's should be renamed Daddy NO's. Now I know why there were so many empty tables and we were able to get a reservation. read more

Stopped in a for a quick lunch at the bar on a sunny winter Saturday. It was pretty quiet when we got there, but lots of people came in after us, and the bar filled up. The one bartender on duty was great, if a little harried. The service was good, the drinks were delicious, and the apps we split were pretty good, too. We split the fried cheese curds, which were delicious, but a touch too salty, not that stopped me from finishing them. I also had the spicy shrimp tacos, and he had fried calamari.
