First thing I noticed was the place was freezing on a cold rainy night. Second thing I noticed was the bread plate was dirty with stuck on food. After reading other reviews about the frozen Mozzarella Sticks, I asked about the Fried Chicken. I was told it was "fresh" but "comes already breaded". Couldn't get a clear answer if it was frozen or not. I passed. We both ordered different type burgers. Came medium rare as ordered. On a tiny COLD bun. Half the size of the burger. Fries were okay, except for those under the pickle, don't care for pickle fries. The burgers were very good large and tasty. $1 extra for onions or mushrooms etc seemed a bit steep. The lettuce on the plate was chopped so small it was like confetti and much of it was brown and lifeless. The one slice of tomato was barely ripe and flavorless. Our waitress was ok, zero personality. When I asked our server what was their extra special dish ... Everything apparently. She took our order, served it and checked in periodically. Never cracked a smile. Overall the burgers were good, fries were good (minus those in pickle juice). Cold slaw was ok if a bit too stringy to suit me, the pickle was good. They had a nice looking selection of desserts, but we were not offered any Burgers were good, place looked nice though it was freezing cold, as we're the lovely marble table tops. I would have liked some cake, but that didn't seem to be an option. ??? Might try it again. $40 for two burgers, one soda and large tip seemed a bit much. Our go-to spot in the summer for a fun meal with very nice servers! We always sit on the deck with our dog and they make us feel very welcome. They have one of the best ceasar salads anywhere! The appetizers are good, the entrees are solid, the drinks are yummy, and the desserts rock! Ample parking, right on the rail trail, and far enough away from the road that it's peaceful. Just attempted to order stuffed salmon from on line menu. Only to be told by hostess that they don't have stuffed salmon. Walked in with the take out menu, has stuffed salmon on it. It turns out that I guess the hostess is related to owner because she cannot read an English menu is unbelievably rude and does not know what is on Daddy O's menu. Why put your wife? Girlfriend? on as hostess when she has no understanding of how to read a menu. Instead of apologizing and offering to make stuffed salmon from kitchen instead of stuffed sole which I ordered instead, hands me my bag of take out with an attitude, no apology, and extreme rudeness. Owner reality check - hire people who have some manners and can read a menu. Just lost a regular take out person on this encounter. The food here was outstanding. I had the chicken souvlaki with greek salad. This also came with ff. The food and service were definitely a 10. Our server Elon was the best!! Disrespectful service, misleading specials, and soured beer. Ordered Nachos and they arrived within 2 minutes. When asking the sever about the special panini, she was unclear about its contents and had to ask the kitchen. We ordered the special panini with modifications and a kids meal of French toast. When the meals came out, the french toast was actually leftover garlic bread, and the "prime rib paninis" contained some kind of grey, discolored, and awful smelling meat that was so dry it might have been a shoe at one point. The server was incredibly disrespectful when we politely asked to speak with the manager about the food, and the manager didn't come over until after the server removed the food from our table and brought over a check charging us for the French toast and half of one of the paninis. We asked again to speak to the manager and the server proceeded to state "I asked if you wanted to speak with her, but you didn't say anything" When the manager came over 15 mins later, she was very rude, and told us that we were being charged for half the panini because the fries had been eaten. After further discussion, she took off the panini and the server tossed the revised bill onto our table. Overall, a horrible experience and will never be back. Not at all surprised that there were 4 cars in the parking lot and we were one of four small tables occupied. read more

Sad excuse of a "restaurant". We should have known better by the red flag of there being no cars in the parking lot, but we still decided to give the place a try. We asked about one of the specials, and the waitress had no clue what was on the sandwich. There was only 5 specials, so you would expect her to know the answer. We then ordered and within 3 minutes of receiving our appetizer we got our meals. We ordered prime rib paninis and instead received some kind of meat?? on bread, not even pressed with a panini press. The meat was greenish in tint, smelled old and disgusting, and didn't come with the au jus as listed on the specials menu. We also ordered French toast which came out on old table garlic bread (French toast on garlic bread- disgusting). The prime rib also had grill marks on it, and anyone with a clue knows prime rib isn't grilled. Upon asking the waitress about this all and telling her the meat was bad, she rolled her eyes at us and huffed and puffed, then said she'd send the manager over. She came back a minute later and threw menus on the table and said to see if we wanted something else. After waiting 15 minutes we had to ask for the manager because she never came over. Mind you, we were one of four tables in the whole establishment, so it was far from busy. The manager Finally came over, was rude, then insisted on charging us half price for food we didn't even eat. The two beers we ordered were flat and sour and had fruit flies in them. Not one person apologized for anything and instead stood at the waitress counter laughing at us. Now it is clear why this place is never busy and only had a couple cars in the parking lot. Complete dump with even worse service. The way we were treated as customers for THEIR ROTTEN FOOD AND POOR SERVICE is appalling. Will be calling BBB and the board of health, for their rotten food and rotten service. read more

We decided to go out to dinner to celebrate the end of the school year and an excellent report card. The restaurant is nice upon entry and the menu is pretty varied. Unfortunately our service was not good. She was quick in bringing our drinks (just Pepsi). However, she never asked if we needed refills, which we did. Bread was never brought to our table, tho every other table seemed to have gotten some. The food came pretty quickly, but it was just alright. The steak was equal parts fat and meat, tho the meat part was ok. The paella was good, but greasy. When we were done, the check was brought without any inquiry as to whether or not we were interested in dessert, which we were. So we just paid and left, and got dessert elsewhere. 3 stars is rounding up from 2.5. read more

This place is just down the road from my mom's house. Great neighborhood place to dine out. One thing that I always notice is how the menu seems to go on forever!! Such a varied selection, it makes it hard to pick an entree sometimes. I've had a couple fish and vegetarian options here. Portions are big, and I've really liked just about everything I've gotten. The appetizers are so-so, I'm not a big fan. My mom also has really bad things to say about the desserts. I've trusted her judgement and never tried any. The service is usually pretty good, but sometimes it's a bit slow. The drinks are a bit pricey for the neighborhood, and the cocktails aren't always made quite right. All in all, Daddy O's is a good place to stop for lunch of dinner. Skip the appetizers and desserts, the entrees are what they do best. Have been here twice and ordered the same thing (gourmet salad with shrimp) and it's excellent. Would rate four stars, but haven't tried rest of menu (although dining companions seemed to like their dishes) -- plus it's the same ownership as the defunct Stockyard (a three star place) so reluctant to go too gaga in my praise. The decadent dessert, specifically brownie with whipped cream, is a drawing card (and a fortunate carryover from Stockyard's menu). Aside from food, there's a bar right next to the dining area, which wouldn't normally concern me since it's cordoned off, but the music unfortunately cannot be cordoned off, making it too loud in the dining area. That being said, I'd go back to Daddy O's particularly since there aren't that many great dining choices around here. read more

My boyfriend's family and I went there for a birthday dinner and it was extremely disappointing. When we walked in the restaurant was smokey and hazy. The service was friendly but extremely slow and that's the best thing I could say for it! There was at least one complaint from each of the seven people in our party. The menu was way to big with no rhyme or reason. If someone asked me what kind of restaurant it was I wouldn't be able to answer. I ordered the Chicken Christine after being told it was the most popular dish on the menu, and it was so disgusting that I wanted to throw up. The bruschetta was soggy; the French onion soup was super salty; the Chicken Marsala was disgusting; the panini special was dry and burned. I could keep going on, but I think I got my point across. And can anyone tell me why there was celery all over my nachos, and mixed into the jalapeños? Then the few chips I got, were burned by the styrofoam. My wife and I went here about two weeks ago. I had one of the best burgers I've ever had and at a reasonable price too! My wife had some kind of huge salad which she said was delicious. My first visit was last Friday night at 6 pm. The dining room soon became so noisy that I couldn't hear the other people at my table. (There were only 5 of us.) My cocktail did not look like or taste like my regular mixed drink so it was replaced and still not correctly prepared, but acceptable enough to drink. My steak fajitas were a generous portion and delicious, even though the meat was overcooked. My companions were not all pleased with their meals, though. One had the chicken marsala, which didn't resemble any chicken marsala we'd ever seen and she said the chicken was tough. She was too polite and did not complain, but her doggy bag was indeed intended for the feral cats she feeds. Another companion did not receive the side she ordered. Service was fair at best. Visited on a Tuesday night. Made it clear, we're not in a hurry. Cocktails at the table. First of all, the restaurant was so cold, it was ridiculous. No really. It was SNOWING! Even the Hostess recommended the only table that did not have a vent over it. Not a big help. So now comes the waitress...who could go a whole lot lighter on the "honey" - really could do without that, but okay ... whatever .... bring drinks, bring food, I'm good. But..... Orders placed (did I mention, "We're in NO rush"?). And second cocktails ordered .... do, do , do , do, do , do ,do (sound of Jeopardy theme in the background). So nope, no follow-cocktails. So now comes the food, which was okay, not extraordinary, but probably would have been better if we could feel our fingers... and THEN, FINALLY comes the second round of cocktails. Now if it was stupidly busy that night, I'd forgive it. But not the case. The workers were shivering at the door and the waitress was pretty much ... "bring the stuff, drop it off, pick up the check." We eventually took out "cocktail" outside to get warm, and left from there. Nope. Gave this place 3 times. Done. Grew up in Hopewell. I've been here several times and though I'd personally rate the food a 3 at best, the overall experience is always a good one. The staff is attentive and very nice, I've always had great service there. They always have a nice selection of beer on tap and expansive drink and food menus. My guest typically orders a burger or sandwich and is never disappointed. I typically adventure away from that and haven't been as successful. The salads are just ok but not always fresh tasting and the flatbread was so soggy but I recently had the fajitas which were actually quite good. We come here every few months and will continue to do so but I do feel the menu could use a little revamping. read more

I eat at this restaurant pretty often since it is very close to my work. I must say that the last 5-6 times I have been there it has been really disappointing. The food and service is just not up to par anymore. The servers really need some professional guidance and training. They just simply are not that good. They either are extremely annoying or ignore you completely. They have a very hard time doing anything correct and forget about making any special requests and them getting them correct. The food also is not very good. They have a very large menu with nothing that typically stands out on it. All of the people that I have dined with there have not felt the food is really that good or what was expected. The bread on the table is typically hard and stale, the food is typically overcooked or undercooked and rarely comes out the way you would expect it. Even when the food has been prepared normally it unfortunately has very little taste. It is obvious that they use a lot of frozen and pre-prepared items by the bland and blah taste of most of the food. Fresh food and a real chef that knows how to season food would be a big improvement. The salads are the only thing that most say are good. It's a shame given the lack of nice places locally that this place does not do a better job. I would definitely suggest skipping this place in the future. The owner should watch a few episodes of Restaurant Impossible and take a few lessons from the show to turn this place around. With the lack of local places, I am sure it is busy and people just put up with their below average food and service but they shouldn't have too. This place would do incredible if they worked heavily on their service and quality of their food. read more

I have only been there a million times, but so far only for lunch. The main waitress there is amazing, great service and really quick! The menu is pretty classic, almost diner style. Food is great, nice to have a full bar ready in case you had a rough morning! My favorite is getting the Tuscan Chicken Wrap as a panini, it basically melts in your mouth! Great prices, they have a good inexpensive lunch menu as well. They always work well with my dairy allergy also, very smooth if you have dietary restrictions. Overall a great place to eat! read more

We had a private room for a graduation and the food was maybe a bit better than my high school cafeteria . They took away the buffet spread after an hour without even asking and knowing we had the room for two more hours. Then at the end the girl proceeded to say "you do realize the this tip is only 10% right?" After being told by the owner that the 10% is included in the price and I thought I was being generous giving an extra 10%. The place is horrific and so are the people that work there. It has an 80's feel to it. If it wasn't by the rail trail they would be out of business, I promise. read more
