If you're craving that true mom-and-pop cafe experience, look no further than Dad's Cafe. From the moment you walk in, you're wrapped in cozy, nostalgic charm. Like stepping into a local favorite where everyone's treated like family. The vibe is warm, the service is genuine, and the food? Pure comfort on a plate. We came hungry for breakfast classics and left completely satisfied. I ordered the Basic Breakfast, juicy sausage links, perfectly scrambled eggs, golden country potatoes, and thick-cut sourdough toast. Every bite was flavorful, hearty, and made just right. Mickey Mouse pancakes arrived, fluffy, fun, and topped with crispy bacon that we requested extra done (and yes, it was crispy perfection). They also serve lunch and have some tempting appetizers on the menu. We'll definitely be back to explore more. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, this spot hits all the right notes. Bottom line: Dad's Cafe is the kind of place that reminds you why local diners will always have a place in our hearts. Delicious, down-to-earth, and totally worth the visit.

We've been returning patrons for Dad's Cafe for large group events for years. It was recently purchased by a new owner in December and our experience was much worse this time. 1. Prices were have been increased exponentially compared to the previous owner (a sandwich and fries is about $26 now) 2. Food took longer to come out, compared to prior visits (and there weren't that many customers) 3. We received $80 in gift cards at a local school holiday event last month for Dad's Cafe; however, the new owner will not accept the gift cards. They have an advisement on the front window; however, we believe this may a violation of CA Civil Code 1749.5. Regardless, this is bad business practice. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we do not plan on returning to Dad's Cafe (or Dad's Diner). In a small community, customer service is essential and this new ownership doesn't seem to understand that.

When ordering add a few tweaks to have the best breakfast. I have learned to always ask for extra crispy potatoes where ever I go. Dads cafe did not disappoint. My husband regrets not doing it. I would only request the English muffin be toasted more for the eggs Benedict but it was still good. My husband enjoyed his chicken fried steak but had no seasoning to his potatoes unlike mine.

Came here on a Saturday morning. It was pretty busy, and a lot of people came in with huge parties. Fortunately, I was here to place a to-go order. Upon entering, it's a pretty warm and cozy vibe. I was helped right away, and the lady was super nice and helpful in picking what to order. While waiting, they have little old-school sticker machines and toys that you pay .50 - $1 for. It just brought back memories as a kid. Selection isn't the same, but it just brought me back. I ordered: 1. Dad's Breakfast sandwich - the sandwich had a thick slice of ham, thick bacon, and cheese topped with an over medium egg. It was a messy perfection. It hit the spot. 2. Corn beef hash and eggs - So simple but delicious. I liked that it didn't come with the fancy chopped bell peppers and onions on everything. It was definitely what I needed. Surprisingly, I finished it all. The potatoes and corn beef hash was perfectly seasoned that i didn't need to add ketchup or tapatio. 3. French Toast - We didn't eat it until we got home, and it was fire. Their syrup was amazing as well. The bread was fluffy and not overly eggy. 4. Pancakes - just like the French toast, it did not disappoint If I am ever in the area, I would definitely want to come back. Highly recommend.

The food was good and was ready within minutes. The food came out hot. Service was courteous and fast. One thing to point out is that they only take cash so come prepared with cash. Prices are reasonable for the servings and the food and service. It's a great alternative to the usual spots in Brentwood like Dennys or Black Bear in Oakley.

The ambiance of the restaurant is not good. This restaurant needs remodeling. Our server was nice. The Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and fries for $17.99 was just okay. The steak was thin-sliced, over-cooked and tough to chew. The bread was like as if it has been microwaved because it was not fresh, crispy and moist although it was toasted.

It was my second time eating at Dad's on Sunday. Sunday in the late morning is probably one of the busier times to come here, but it's a nice spot to dine with family, especially with young kids. The staff is friendly and attentive, so service was great. The inside of the restaurant is kinda quaint/nostalgic looking, like it looks original to the restaurant. It's well up-kept. Yesterday I ordered the Dad's club sandwich with sweet potato fries. I thought both items were fine, although the regular fries are better than the sweet potato fries. My kids love the Mickey Mouse pancakes with bacon, and my in laws love the Dad's burger. I feel like once I find my "thing" here I'll love it.

The owner doesn't know how to park and has an issue with taking up 2 out of the 3 front parking spots. It's pretty unfortunate for those that are handicapped or struggle with mobility.

This was our first time ordering Dad's Cafe. I called around 2:10 and someone immediately answered the phone and confirmed that my order was correct. I ordered two Corned Beef Hash & Eggs Breakfasts and one kid's Mac-N-Cheese. The food was ready when I got there. The staff was very nice and asked me if I'd like any condiments and utensils to go. I got some salt, pepper, ketchup, and utensils. Once we got home we were amazed with the display of food. The corned beef hash is the best in the area second to the late Mimi's Cafe. Perfect sunny side up eggs for both orders. Hash browns were soft with some crunch to them which I really liked. The buttered toast was soft and toasted to absolute perfection. I enjoyed them not over seasoning the food sometimes restaurants tend to add too much of something which can ruin the whole dish. I added a little salt and pepper to my eggs and hash browns and that did the job. As a foodie I have gone everywhere looking for anything that comes close to Mimi's Cafes Corned Beef Hash locally and this spot was the hidden gem we finally found. Our little one loved the Kids Mac-N-Cheese which came with a side of fries. We look forward to ordering more stuff off of the menu soon. We will definitely be back. Shoutout to the staff for doing an excellent job.

We love this place and come here regularly for breakfast. I usually order the veggie blanket and add chorizo or ham. The service is great, I forgot their names but we usually are served by a brunette women who serves mimosas with the juice on the side (thank you;-) or a young man who I think is a relative to the owner that is always extremely nice and attentive. Lunch there was good as well, but this is definitely our favorite breakfast spot.

This family owned restaurant used to offer great food, particularly for breakfast. Service has always been good, but food quality has fallen off. Pancakes - they used to be homemade batter - they were great. Now, they offer pre-made frozen pancakes they heat up on the grill. You can tell because they are tough, have a different taste and are all the exact same shape. All signs of pre-made. The bacon is small pieces and rarely cooked correctly even when you ask for crispy bacon. We'll find another breakfast spot but hope Dad's gets it together like before. read more

I don't normally leave reviews like this but I feel this one is necessary. My son and I went in last week after reading the reviews, front desk staff was nice and sat us quickly waitress took our drink orders quickly. Here is where things went wrong the coffee mug was clearly dirty and coffee had something floating in it, waitress apologized and brought me a new cup (in the same mug) we ordered our food it was delivered warm not necessarily hot later that day we both felt a little nauseous followed by vomiting. We went to the ER and were diagnosed with food poisoning. Needless to say we won't be eating there again. read more

This place is long over due. A nice restaurant family oriented with a good variety on the menu. Excellent portions and good tasting food We have been happy both times now First trip I had breakfast and it was excellent Today pot roast sandwich and is awesome The server Candice is hands down the most knowledgeable employee and exceeds customer service with a great attitude. All employees are friendly and nice but Candice is fantastic. She should be a manager Come support this place. You'll be satisfied Just gotta try more stuff read more

Maybe just very bad day - Saturday 10am - not busy. Came in greeted by hostess and at least 4 waitresses standing around one another out front. How many hostesses and waitresses does it take to get a seat. The answer is 5 apparently after waiting around awkwardly. They admitted they were disorganized. Ordered entree with side oh their "home made" hollaindaise sauce. The server forgot the sauce. Took about 10 minutes to come out while my food cooled but I was okay without cuz I thought it would be fresh. It was cold and gelatinous. I didn't feel like an important customer today. read more

I can't say anything positive actually besides we had a nice waitress. Even the girl who took our money said not one word during the transaction. My husband had the pancakes with bacon, both came out cold and uneatable. I had chicken fried steak which the breading was good on it but defiantly nothing special. My eggs and potatoes where cold. I did read in some other reviews that they had small water cups and the place was dirty... I didn't experience that at all I can say as we got nice big glasses of water and all booth areas where clean. I would NOT recommend this place and we will not be returning on our ventures through town read more

Dads cafe is a really great breakfast spot in my opinion. They've always delivered some really good quality breakfast foods at a very good price. They load you up with some great portions. I'm not a HUGE fan of the lunch menu though. The place has a nice laid back, casual atmosphere with a very friendly staff of servers who make you feel very comfortable. A 100 percent solid spot to grab a big helping of breakfast. read more

Up to my old antics. First time here, depending on the situation I let the waiter/waitress order for me. I'm not a picky eater so I just tell them to bring me something that will make me come back a second time. Today's victim was Anesia, I hope that is spelled correctly. O_o Anesia actually was pretty ok with handling my order, seemed kinda excited about it. She brought me what looked like the Hash Brown Blanket, I'm guessing the name based on a photo from Yelp. Can you say carb city?! But that's what happens when you order like this. It was actually pretty good, she did come back and offer gravy but I think it would have been over kill. Unfortunately the menu didn't impress me, it was very safe. Didn't see too many signature dishes but on the flip side I did only glance at it. The food wasn't bad but I wasn't wowed either. Also a turn off was we did kinda wait longer than we expected for our check. The location was pretty central, the place clean and bright. It had that small town homely feel of service, I think Dad was working the food prep line, so every one was on point. The wait at the end blowed, don't know if they got busy or was short staffed but all in all a safe bet for breakfast. We'll be back and hopefully I can add that 4th star next time, I'll keep you posted. read more

Had the cheese lovers omelette with potatoes, great value, great food, they just got my order wrong the first time around and had to wait for a while before they got my plate right the second time, by the time I got to eat, all my friends had finished they're meals and was time for us to head out. This restaurant has changed names and owners several times now, and with that the food changes. Now that it's Dads, it's a decent spot. The staff is very friendly and the owner is personable. The breakfast burrito is BOMB!!! So is the Three-by-Three. I've had other dishes too and they were good. I like this spot because they have fast service, good coffee, good food, and good portions. It's never super busy either. It's a good Mom & Pop place to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. read more

Don't come here. Totally disappointment. I understand if the place is short staffed but to take 15 mins to just acknowledge. The table I don't agree with. I been serving in places like this before I'm my life and you never ignore the table, and at least time them you would be right with them I'm a short while. read more

I came by for dinner. The menu looks great and I decided to on the BBQ pulled pork. Mistake. The sandwich was swimming in sauce. Not a great sign when you have to hide your food under a mountain of sauce. The service was quick, not friendly, but professional. The place looked clean but I could clearly see the remnants of Perkos Cafe and Brooks Cafe. Everyone in my table was ok, clubhouse sandwiches and salads. Nothing to rave about. Parking is awesome, large amount of parking outside. Downtown brentwood location. I will give them another shot- maybe try breakfast or lunch. Hope for the better! read more

Anywhere, literally anywhere including Burger King right next store, has better breakfast than this place. Every single item, even the toast, is trash. I even feel like I need a shower after being in there. Do yourself a favor, don't bother. Anyone reviewing this place as good has no palette and zero taste buds. read more

This used to be one of my favorite brunch spots in the area. We have introduced at least five different patrons to this place. Regretfully, due to my last experience I will no longer go there. We have been in the area for 4 years and I am a regular and order the same dish every time. This time they made the order wrong and I asked for it to be fixed an the owner (Ahmed) works the expo window! He told our waitress that he was out of grilled chicken and sent the dish back expecting me to eat it. I kindly declined and had nothing to eat as I progressively became upset after seeing the lady at the next table order a grilled chicken salad with the "nonexistent grilled chicken". The waitress then came to the table and said he lied and basically refused to remake the dish and that he gets difficult to work with when he gets in a mood! My advice is if you can't handle working the expo window and get overwhelmed, then get out of your own way. Your customers and staff shouldn't have to suffer because you get in a bad mood and can't handle the stress! I will NEVER support your business again. The customer is always right sir. Good riddance!! read more

Love coming to Dad's!! The service is always great & attentive! Everyone is so sweet here. Great for breakfast! My favorite dishes are the French Toast breakfast & the Meat Lovers Hashbrown Blanket! YUMM!! The meat blanket is something that I've never seen before at any restaurant but it's oh so delish! It's just a little bit of everything! It's their special breakfast item that they made up themselves! They have a "Special's" board that they change every week or 2 as well. I've tried a lot of what they put on the specials & everything that they have is awesome! Especially the Strawberry Stuffed French Toast & their Raviolis for dinner! Highly recommend this place to everyone!! read more

I realize this café just opened recently. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt and say they are trying to find their groove but when it comes to staff, they either have it or they don't. The service here is poor as in "going out of business" poor. We were seated quickly which is probably the highlight of our service experience. After that, it seems like it was a challenge to have our waitress be pleasant and make us feel welcome. After taking our order, she basically disappeared. Thank goodness for a roving gentleman who made an attempt to come over to our table to refill my coffee cup. Once our food did come, the order was wrong. Who should we complain too? After all the waitress never felt the need to come back to our table - not even to bring us our bill. We chased down another waitress to demand our bill, then we walked it to the front to pay just to ensure we could get out of there without wasting anymore time. Again, I realize they just opened this location. With anything it can take some time to get into the groove of things. You hire wait staff that are suppose to understand how to provide customer service and be attentive to your tables. You either have it or you don't. This staff clearly doesn't make the grade. Food is Denny's quality but with very bad service!! A complete miss! read more

The food (breakfast) was OK, standard choices. The place has a weird feeling about it. There is this little old asian woman (owner? owners wife?) who is directing the waitresses like a slave driver without any regard for the customer. She is stern and unfriendly. Almost a Tyrant. She seats people without any eye contact or conversation as if she is penning cattle and the whole time with a scowl on her face. We watched her with amazement and astonishment. Gotta be the owner because nobody would ever hire such a negative and completely detached drone. She was extremely distracting. Waitress was average minimum required effort. Took FOREVER to get our bill. We won't be back. read more

Came downtown for breakfast ordered the Belgian breakfast. I received 2 hard square frozen waffles. It was really upsetting because the quality has really gone down within a year of being here. Seems like they no longer make their own food, but rather reheat frozen food. read more

Sweet baby Jesus it sure is nice to get a big perfect cooked general run of the mill bfast like the 60's heydays! I wasn't there in the 60's but I can imagine it. Perfect eggs, even scrambled. Perfect bacon, though I devoured one before the picture. Wife's Mexican ranchero plate was perfect. Kids ate free today on Mondays. Cheap, incredible general food. read more

First and last time here. When we first got here, the older lady which I think may be the manager, set our table while we were still standing at the door. She then starts walking back to the kitchen and points in the general direction of our table and shouts across the room "Your table is over there". We sat down, our waitress took our drink order and then brings our coffee which was somewhat cold. Between taking our drink order, and bringing our food which was about 15 min, not once did our waitress ever come back to see if we needed any refills. Mind you, the place was pretty empty, maybe 3 or 4 other tables were occupied. I ordered the steak and eggs which was terrible. I got my steak medium but it was extremely rubbery, most likely cause it was frozen. The hash browns & scrambled eggs were greasy and not edible. Again, between bringing our food and maybe eating for about 10 min, our waitress didn't return to ask how everything was. Everyone at our table got bread with their meal, and of course they forgot them all and didnt bring them until we were just about done. The bread seemed like they left it in the toaster for 10 seconds because they tried to get it out to us quick. From the cold coffee, rubbery steak, & terrible service, I won't ever be coming back here. read more

Met my parents here for a late Sunday breakfast. As always the food was very good. My mom loves the breakfast Tacos and I had the chicken fried steak which was very good. I wish our server was as good as the food was. She spilled our drinks when she delivered them without any acknowledgement of doing so. After she heard us talking she brought over "extra napkins" lol. She was in such a hurry to turn over the table that she removed 2 peoples plates while they were still eating. I'll still go to Dads this one service aside. All the other visits the staff was very good. read more

Excellent food, Friendly DAD. Stopped for lunch. Corned beef sandwich and waffle cheese fries. Nice restaurant tasty food, fast friendly service. If DAD gets a sawhorse/sandwich board. He could be pumping out breakfast meals and coffee at the front door. Also, lunchtime menu for fast pickup. why would any one wait in line at burger king. Sorry that Jay's kids had to hear other's customers foul language. next time Jay, ask them to "please show some respect to your wife and children". read more

We went here one night because I had 4 kids who couldn't agree on anything for dinner one night. We drove past and I pulled in and said..."no ones been here, so no one can say they like it or dislike it." Turned out that's kids eat free with an adult meal M-F so I surprisingly saved money. Best part is, everyone loved it. My Club Sandwich was fresh and very good. Daughter loved her kids spaghetti. Other daughter loved her Mozzarella sticks and my oldest had the Caesar Wrap and loved it. You all get my point. Best part is, the service was fantastic. Our waitress was friendly and quick. Food was warm and delicious. I hope this place sticks around. read more

Now that I have had two dinners, on March 5th and 27th, and a recent brunch, June 6, here is what I can conclude: The Food: Everything I have tried on the menu so far has been pretty flipping delicious beautifully, but not pretentiously, presented looking and tasting like a truly from scratch kitchen (which did not seem to be the case with the previous chef/menu). Standout mains included a beef stroganoff special, the fish and chips and possibly the best shrimp and grits (might be only a weekend brunch item?) I have ever had (to the point that I am likely to go back and have it again in the next week or two) Standout apps were the raw oysters (especially the in house pickled watermelon mignonette), the pulled pork sliders, brussel sprouts and recently a new buffalo style baby back ribs with shaved celery and blue cheese crumbles (it was so good my sister would not let us finish it so that she could take the last bite home to share with my brother in law and give him pointers) Standout desserts included the bread pudding and the cream brulee. The Drinks: Cocktails had a rougher start but were excellent in June. Back in March the cocktail menu seemed a bit confused. Several drinks I tried were incredibly unbalanced (and whether that was due to bad recipes or errors while executing said recipes who knows). I feel like they might not always have had an experienced bartender behind the bar, back in March, because one time it was something as simple as a gin & tonic that was accidentally made with plain soda because the syrup had run out and no one seemed to know how to help correct the issue. Whoever revamped the cocktail menu, please accept a huge THANK YOU! I will now be drinking my way through the menu over my next several visits. The standouts recently were the exceptional clarified milk punch cocktail called Sweet Disposition and the Strawberry Letter. The Service: Excellent. Everyone I have interacted with, especially the serving staff, have been attentive and took brief moments to make kind personal connections. One even gushed about how happy they have been seeing the changes implemented by this new incoming chef. The Venue: It has a relaxed golf course club room atmosphere with a main upstairs dining room and patio seating (weather permitting). There is also a downstairs area with an additional bar and space for live music (which seems to be a regular occurrence). I appreciated the separation which allowed for distinct vibes depending on your mood. My apologies that I have no picture to share (though the food and drinks were photo worthy) I was too busy enjoying myself.

Mine was the overcooked by almost two degrees (ordered medium rare and there was zero pink in site). My husband and I ended up switching plates. I had already ordered a second cocktail which did not come until dessert. The server apologize this was overlooked. As someone who has been in the industry, I did not complain. I took my drink and it was nice enough. I found most of the meals lacked seasoning. The herb potato's were okay. The best part was the blueberry cheesecake. That was divine. I don't think we will be back anytime soon with so many great spots in town but if you're looking for a great date night spot, this place is one to add to rotation.

Doing an American fusion menu where you can order a cheese burger, or a bulgogi burger might appeal to a few golfers that might visit Palm Tree as their 19th hole, but might be confusing. Palm Tree has potential to be a very good Korean/Japanese restaurant if they eliminate the American dishes.

I paid my bill, which was higher than it should've been and I still tipped well, even though I probably shouldn't have tipped because he did not deserve it because of the service and serving me not what I ordered, but that's not me so I tipped had my cocktail talk to a few people and left. I've been a loyal customer here for years, despite living about 20 minutes away. Unfortunately, my most recent experience completely changed my opinion. I ordered a roll for my daughter with no avocado and added cucumber. When we got home, the roll only had crab inside. There was no cucumber at all. I called and simply asked for a refund, but I was told the chef insisted the cucumber was in the roll, so they refused. Instead, they told me to drive back so they could remake it. After driving another 20 minutes back (40 minutes of driving total), the employee inspected the roll herself and immediately saw that there was, in fact, no cucumber. So the issue I reported from the beginning was real. What disappointed me most wasn't the mistake. Mistakes happen. It was being treated like my word wasn't trustworthy after years of supporting this business. Rather than believing a loyal customer or offering a simple refund, I had to waste my time and gas proving that the order was incorrect. It makes me wonder if one roll was really worth losing a long-time customer. Customer service is about how you handle mistakes, and unfortunately this experience left me feeling undervalued. I hope management reconsiders how situations like this are handled in the future.

Not so bad that I'll never return. But when there are nearby choices, I'll pick one of them over Dad's. Simple mistakes occurring time after time, eventually become big issues. Everytime I ask for toast, down twice, burnt, cooked well, not warm bread, I end up with warm bread anyway! Then the waitress disappears. After being told I can have an AMERICAN CHEESE omelet, I get one with "other than American cheese. Small issues, but I will probably go to Orwood, Diggers, or MJ's. read more

Please DONT COME TO THIS PLACE, take your family to a decent restaurant for breakfast or lunch. This place is horrible the food is all frozen and seems like the just warm it up on the microwave. You can tell they are not even cooking in the kitchen because there's no smoke or smell coming from the kitchen.
