First time visiting! Let's begin with Service. The service was amazing! The staff are friendly and attentive and they are amazing! 5 stars for Service! The Food I had ordered "The Spaniard" omelette and it was incredibly underwhelming. There was no seasoning or flavor between the omelette and potatoes. Is their cook new? Salt & pepper is a staple for basic seasoning. The food wasn't bad, it was just plain. Maybe today was an off today. 2 stars for food. The Ambiance The restaurant seems to be fairly new/newish. It's nice, but the interior has no character or personality. Who is MJ? What is MJ's? Also, I found dust on almost every single ledge. The place was largely clean from what I could see, but once I sat down, I could see dust on a couple of places. I'm open to trying the place again and see if my experience is different than today. It comes with toast and country or hash potatoes on the side. Service was quick and efficient. All was excellent and reasonably priced. We ordered the loaded hash brown to start, a chicken and ranch sandwich with house made chips, and the Italian Sausage, Green Chili omelette with a side of country potatoes. The food was good and the ingredients tasted fresh. The only downside is they don't offer any non dairy creamer options for their coffee. The hash browns were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Everything about this breakfast made it easy to see why the place had a line out the door. There's a little bakery case by the register with delicious looking muffins, danish, and scones. I was too full to even think of trying them, but they looked amazing. 90s and early 2000s R and B played through the speakers, bringing back the good old days for me, making me thing the place is run by people from my generation. Table for 2 - 30 minutes wait says the host. 30 minutes past I asked the host how long more we have to wait, I looked at her list and asked why are the people crossed and passed my name on the list. She says they go by the number of people and availability of the table which doesn't make sense to me. We waited for at least an hour for our table, plus another hour for our food. MJ's is a great place for a weekend family breakfast. It's always busy, fast paced, but the staff is amazing. The food is always a hit and when I ask for my hashbrowns extra well done (like almost burnt as I say) they always pull through with my request. Great! First I give a 5-star review, then the next time I go here the wait is double what it was my first time visiting. Well, I'd give 4.5 IF that was an option. Sorry, but staff attentiveness could have been a bit better (I know it's tough to do when you're slammed with work but gratuity is bigger, I've been there-done that) . The place is quaint, lively an color and airy. Not too long our server took our orders: Chicken Fried Steak for me and Ranchos Huevos for the wife with Banana Pecan flapjacks to share. The fried steak is distinctly delicious, and my crispy potato hash is properly fulfilled. Took a taste of the ranchos huevos and it too was good as well. The banana pecan pancake was nice and fluffy and the pecans add a nice crunch into it. Overall, we had a good breakfast at MJ's and would not hesitate to come back. I ordered a chicken, mushroom and Swiss cheese omelette, and I'm not sure what I ended up getting. There was no cheese inside, and whatever meat it was it was scorched. It looks like ham. Having a personal policy not to send the food back, I ate it. My sister also got a breakfast, but both the eggs were improperly cooked, and the sourdough bread was replaced with wheat. read more

The food has suffered a massive decline in quality over the last few years as well. What was once one of the better brunch spots in the area is now marginally better than Denny's. The decor hasn't been updated in decades. This could bring some charm, but it all feels rickety. And the sheer amount of gnats I had to kill while I ate gives me pause about the cleanliness. Falsely advertised and Mediocre.... I picked this place over Brentwood Cafe because the pricing was better. The website has breakfast plates for $12 but when we arrived, we were charged $18 a plate and $6.50 for a side of bacon! Had I known that, we would have gone elsewhere and to top it off the food was plain and sub-par. The waitress was sweet and clearly embarrassed by her bosses business ethic as she said the website has been incorrect for years. So the owner of the establishment has been knowingly deceiving and over charging patrons. We paid $50 for a to-go order of eggs and bacon (I still tipped the waitress bc it wasn't her fault her boss is ripping off customers). Needless to say, we won't be returning. At the very least, we hope this review will lead to updating the website so others won't continue to get overcharged. read more

From the outside it looks rather small but once inside, I was rather impressed with how far it goes back and the amount of seating. The interior is definitely more modern and bright than what I was expecting from the outside. Arriving around 1 on a Sunday, it was still crowded but we got seated right way. Arrive was prompt and they have something for everyone, depending on if you're in the mood for breakfast or lunch. Portions are absolutely ridiculously huge so plan for leftovers. We usually order the same breakfast items; the Banana Pecan French Toast with Caramel Sauce and the Classic Joe's Special. MJ prepares both breakfast selections consistently very good. Both breakfast selection rate 5/5. The service is always great where our servers are friendly and helpful. Our coffee mugs are topped off when low. The service is pleasantly consistent. Even with the farmers market outside their doors they do give you great service I had the 1/2 order of French Toast with an egg alongside a side order of hash browns. I love they made my egg perfectly which was over easy not many places do. They make the Fresh toast with French rolls still very tasty. My daughter had the small Stacy of pancakes (which were the size of the plate) with vanilla whipped cream so yummy she could only eat half of them.
