Fantastic farm to table restaurant! I recently dined at Dai Due with one purpose - to try the hamburger. I've read it is one of the best in Austin, so I wanted to see for myself. Without a doubt, it is one of the best. The meat is so good on its own - smoky and flavorful - but is made even better with the sauce and fresh onions. The bun is perfectly fluffy too to contain all of the decadence without getting soggy. It wasn't just the burger that was great though. I took my six-year-old son with me on this dining adventure for brunch and we sat outside. The tables are very well distanced (there aren't too many tables to begin with anyway) and the staff all work masks, so I felt very safe. Back to the food - the burger comes with fries that were perfectly seasoned and crispy. My son and I both loved them. I ordered the pancakes and bacon for my son, which he liked. I ended up eating several bites of his pancakes too. They are sourdough and topped with apple syrup and some sort of fluffy cheddar cheese, which made for a great combination that wasn't overly sweet (which I prefer). I also ordered a kolache to go. I can't remember what exactly was in it, but it tasted great. The filling to pastry ratio was spot on. I also ordered a sourdough bread boule to go, which was gorgeous. My husband has loved using it for making sandwiches at home this week. All in all, while I highly recommend visiting Dai Due for the burger, check out some of the other items too, especially the baked goods. Tucked away in an unassuming strip, Dai Due has an aesthetically pleasing interior and patio area -- altogether larger and nicer than expected. Food is delicious, seasonal, and locally sourced. So glad I got to venture out of my normal Austin travel bubble and try this place out. The front offers a high end butchery, while the rear of the space is the site down restaurant. Service was phenomenal and on point throughout my visit. This place's menu is ever changing as they only serve what is available locally so the offerings vary with seasonality of farm items. I ended up going with the Wagyu Cheeseburger, which came with a side of sweet potato fries. I'm not a sweet potato fan, but the fries were the first thing gone off of my plate. The burger was generous in size and amazing. I would classify it as one of the best burgers I've ever had. What happened here? I had a great time at Dai Due last time, so I came with my friends for a second time yesterday (Tue dinner). And all I have to say is I've never received such terrible service at a restaurant in a while. Hostess was nice, but our waitress was simply terrible. She never came to check up on our table. Our food took about 20 minutes to come out, and when I wanted to place an additional order, I couldn't catch her attention because she was nowhere to be found. Not even other waiters were available for us. I think it took more than 10 minutes for me to finally get a waiter to place an additional order. The order I placed came out, and I saw the bowl of soup sitting on the counter afar. No one picked it up and brought it to me, and that soup was just sitting there for a while. Our waitress even messed up our bills and had to bring the correct ones. Restaurant was not even busy - it was on a Tuesday night around 9pm when many of the customers already left. As for the food, do not order the kale salad. Cheese overpowered the dish way too much. Salad itself tasted really bland, and my friends agreed as well. The oyster soup was really good though. I'm not even exaggerating. Dai Due has the worst customer service among all of the restaurants in Austin. Never will I ever be coming back here again, and I don't think I will ever tell my friends to visit this restaurant anymore. read more

This place was so good and that's coming from someone who doesn't usually enjoy New American food! Love that they're a farm to table restaurant. Their sourdough bread was to die for. I also had the best burger I've eaten to date here. The pork chop was also super good too. Their fries are also made with beef fat -- I thought that it would be super good because that's how Mcdonalds fries used to be made, but it was just decent. Other than that everything was fantastic. This is a really cool place for a unique experience. The menu is mostly wild game, which you can see being cooked over the fire in the kitchen. Great smells emanating throughout the place. My boar smelled delicious and tasted just as good. My favorite thing by far, however, was the nilgai ceviche. I'm not sure this is something you could get anywhere else. Who knew an ugly south Texas deer could taste so good in a ceviche. But it does. The only reason I don't give this place 4-5 stars is that the quail was very dry and I felt it was overall a little over priced. However for a quick and quirky date, I do recommend it. read more

Listen carnivores! Supported this local biz this past Saturday, and Dai Due did not disappoint. Sure. I had my reservations about ordering a $20 burger; but every savory bite made me more assured in my decision. Mine wasn't quite as cheesy as some of the others I've seen reviewed, but the meat was cooked to medium perfection with plenty of house made pickles and a bun so pillowy and chewy that I would have ordered a half dozen plain just to eat with butter. Add to that the beet ketchup served with their fries.... yassss! Just in case I was in need of another late night sandwich binge, the wild game Italian sub was just the ticket. Absolutely only positive things to say about my experience at Dai Due. Ambiance is intimate, perfect for a small group or a date. I suggested this place for my birthday dinner, with my sister and brother-in-law treating me and we came out satisfied and full-bellied. For appetizers, we ordered the cold meat board, grilled bok choy, and the grilled confit chicken hearts. Meat board was excellent and we were able to get extra bread to finish it off. The grilled bok choy had an excellent flavor with the grilled herb mayo and was some of the largest, fully ripe bok choy I had ever had. The grilled confit chicken is not for the faint of heart, as it literally looks like a tiny heart. I enjoyed it, perfectly grilled and seasoned, with a slight metallic aftertaste. For entrees, I had the wild boar confit and it was delicious. I was skeptical because I normally don't like things like apples on my savory dishes (or salads), but the combination was amazing. Something about the way apples were prepared made for a perfect pairing with the boar. Finally, we had to try the dessert and we ordered the Apple Cobbler with Bay Leaf Ice Cream and the Lemon-Poppy Seed Poundcake with Lemon Butter, and they added a birthday pumpkin mousse as well. All were good but I liked the poundcake a little better (would've been great with ice-cream) Their menu regularly changes, so you can come here all the time and expect something new and different! read more

They use real fat and the fries are seed oil free. Pricing is a little high, but the ribeye is worth it. Nilgai is a little gamey. No selection for children. And this is the first place I've ever heard of a Mediterranean dish like kefta as a mix of lamb and pork. You all need to put that info in the menu as it's only listed as lamb. The second time I went there the waitress informed us of this while the first time we went this was not the case. The burgers are mixed with pork too without a beef only option. If you don't eat pork, be weary. Staff has otherwise been very nice and the ambiance is great. read more

Pulling up to the front, you would think that this place is closed since there's no activity at the butcher counter at nighttime. But sure enough, there are people in the back, and good luck getting a seat if you didn't have reservations. Luckily, there was room at the bar. I was little confused by the name for the prefixed menu. Supper club makes it sound like you have to have a membership, but this is not the case. It's $120, but it's totally worth it, especially considering you're sharing this among two or more people. Chicken hearts (a la carte) - absolutely delicious. Some of the best I've ever had. Soft but still had a delightful chew. The fruity glaze caramelized on the grill for a lovely encasing. The Meat was not too gamey, but still had character. I love that they serve it as a single skewer for 5 buckaroos. The duck egg on sourdough was good, although it wasn't something that blew me away. The mushrooms are the true spectacle of the meal. The duck eggs were cooked right, but they didn't have any pop factor to them. The fresh arugula was a nice touch among the other heavy items. The sourdough was a little too dense in my opinion, but it was still soft when the oils were soaked in.  The mixed grill plate is a feast fit for a king. One giant ass bone-in pork chop, lamb coppa cut, beef rib, and a stuffed quail. It's hard to say where to start, but personally, eat the quail first, since it's easier to get cold once cut into. The pork chop is what lasts the longest temp wise, but make sure you grab some fatty pieces as soon as you can. Those parts are meat candy heaven. The whole pork chop itself truly blew me away. It was the one thing I least looked forward to, yet dreamed about the longest after. Make sure you take your knife and scrape what you can off the bone. The lamb coppa tasted like a clean, but very present goat cheese. I've never experienced something like that. It's almost as if I could taste that lambs diet. The bone is a little noting, but it's still damn good. The beef ribs aren't as magical as what you would find at a smokehouse, but they still bring the moans out of you. Plenty of greasy, beefy goodness, with a reasonable amount of pepper in the taste. The quail was the lightest of the bunch, as well as the least charred. But that doesn't mean it didnt have flavor. The quail was a lovely gamey bird, heightened by the gamey lamb sausages stuffed inside.  The coffee/tea they provide after the meal was quite nice. The sumata tea was savory, like a chicken broth, but still had a refreshing herbal feel. It was quite a thrill and surprise. The dessert cheese hits the spot so well between being savory, yet activating the sweet receptors of the tongue. The rhubarb compote is small, so ration appropriately per bite. The crackers don't have much flavor, but I'm pretty sure that's the point.  The basque cake is definitely my recommendation for dessert. Moist, buttery pound cake consistency with a lovely custard on the inside. The brown butter ice creams reinforces the buttery taste, as well as add the healthy dose of moisture. I was blown away by how awesome this place is. What a blessing that they offer such delicious grilled meats, appetizers, and dessert. I don't even know where to begin with this review. I feel like my words will not even do it justice! To start with, we had the chicken hearts, charcuterie board and the grilled bread with whipped lard. I would have never ordered the chicken hearts but they were a gift from the kitchen and also a gift for my mouth! They were grilled with a light sauce that balances out the richness perfectly. That one dish told me that whatever they put on their menu I should try as it will be expertly prepared and tasty. Make sure you try the grilled bread, so wonderful even though it seems so simple. For our dinners we went family style and all shared the Sunday supper fried chicken, a pork chop and the ancho rubbed pork steak with salsa verde. Our sides were the grilled broccoli with garlic and grit casserole. Every dish brought its own highlight to the meal and amongst all of us we could not agree on a favorite because they all stood out in their own way. The pork chop was basically pork butter it was so well cooked, the fried chicken was juicy and scrispy, and the pork steak was amazingly flavorful. I would come back to this restaurant for each of these dishes but also want to try every entree they offer! For dessert we couldn't choose so we had all four of the sweet desserts offered and once again were blown away. There was a grapefruit tart that was not too sweet, an icebox pie topped with peanuts and caramel, a mimosa sorbet and a lime pudding type dessert with a strawberry topping. Again, we could not choose a favorite as each had its own reason to be loved and savored! We all agreed this was a top 10 dining experience and not to be missed if you are in Austin. This place is absolutely adorable!!! The front half is like a bakery while the back area is the dining area. There's even a small outdoor patio area for you to dine/sip some alcohol while waiting (if there is a wait at all) Came for a bite during lunch time Food: 5 WOW the food is SO GOOD! Very unique combinations. There's the sweet foods and savory foods to choose from. Portions are pretty big in my opinion. Service: 5 Our server was so nice and always came by to keep our water filled! Also gave really good descriptions of each item on the menu. Super friendly. Kelli is so sweet and kind. She truly deserves either a promotion or raise of some sort. Second, the FOOD is so good. I'm born and raised in NY. This place is unreal. I heard about it when listening to an interview with the owner Jesse and had to go when visiting Austin. The food is all locally sourced, highly cared for, and truly delicious. The menu is always changing as they only use ingredients that are in season and available. The antelope ceviche and chicken hearts were excellent starters. The Wild Boar Confit was tender, flavorful, and filling. Our server Kelly was incredible; and she told us this was only her first week! I just had a wonderful birthday meal at Dai Due. I read a few reviews prior to writing to see what others felt about the place, so I caveat time of day and staff in place may make a ton of difference in your experience. Dai Due has an amazing space where the butcher shop meets a simple yet pleasant dining setup. I loved the comforting feel from the wood fire smell of the grill. Our waitress was very positive and patient. She handled our wine selection in the most pragmatic manner. Try these three from light to heavy. The wine was wonderful. We started with a chicken pate which was buttery and matched well with the accompanying bread. My wife ordered the fish and I had the Wagyu steak with a side of spaghetti squash. All were rich, complex, and fantastic. The squash was spicy with a hint of sweet. Really amazing. As we enjoyed our meal I noticed a butcher breaking down a side of pork. She was very talented and precise. A Female butcher, hmmm. then I noticed most of the employees in this meat house were women. Big credit to the executive staff. You hired a wonderful team of professionals who do a great job. Yes a mostly female staff in a meat house is not not the norm, and kudos to you. Why the hell not! Staff take a look at the other reviews. Its worth evaluating internally their comments. If my burger came out well done and salty, my review would not be so kind. High highs and low lows. We ate at Dai Dui for the Sunday night fried chicken supper club. We ordered almost the entire menu and had a mixed experience. There were some dishes that were AMAZING like the dry aged steak, but others that were just bad like the very pasty strawberry lard- wonderful in theory, but terrible in execution. We really wish they served the steak last but they served it before the fried chicken and pork chop so everything that we ate after seemed like it couldn't compare. I think if they had served the steak last then we would have enjoyed the fried chicken and pork chop more. The sourdough bread was awesome- tasted like homemade crusty sourdough. The biscuit was pretty dry and dense. I would skip the desserts here. They were very rustic but not in the satisfying way. Forever on the quest to find the best burgers in town and this one is up there on the list. It is so different from other burgers which I think comes from the richness and flavor of the meat. I came into Dai Due on a Wednesday night with my boss for an early dinner. We were some of the first people in the dining room but by the time we left at about 8:45pm, it was packed! Dai Due is a butcher in the front and a restaurant in the back. There's always meat grilling so you really get to immerse yourself in the wonderful smell of cooking meat. Since I had a late lunch that day (we both did), we opted to order appetizers and sides. I had the Chicken Liver Mousse with Pickled Green Strawberries, Macerated Strawberries, and Grilled Buttermilk Bread. It was glorious. The liver mousse was smooth and creamy and paired really well with the sweetness of the macerated strawberries and the tart of the pickled strawberries. The bread was phenomenal - warm and crispy. I also had the Ash Hominy and White Grits Casserole with Escabeche Jalapeño, Bacon, Stryk Cheddar, and Queso Cotija. There was a small kick to the grits casserole from the jalapeños that I really liked. The grits had a real homestyle feel to them, which was really nice. I had a blueberry smashed white punch for my drink and an orange white wine sorbet for dessert. Both were really good and definitely hit the spot after a long day of traveling! Spent Sunday night here gorging on some pretty amazing fried chicken. It was their dinner club option and was served with pickled jalapeños, collard greens, mashed potatoes, and a biscuit. It's hard to overstate how good the fried chicken was. Quite possibly the best I've had in Austin. Also part of the special was your choice of dessert and coffee or tea. Along with the supper club special, we also ordered a couple of apps. Totally unnecessary given the amount of food you get, but I was really intrigued that they offered pickled chicken feet. I like pickled foods and adore chicken feet at dim sum restaurants, so I had high hopes. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as good as it sounded in my head - perhaps I'm just conditioned for them to be savory. But they were worth a try. We also got an order of their broiled oysters which were also pretty good but not nearly as remarkable as that fried chicken. A very good meal overall and in a really cool space. In general, the vibe was fine. Upscale butcher/baker with pricey local products. It is what it is. The service was good and the server was nice. One thing that felt weird is that the server went on this spiel about the local products used in everything they serve. Initially, I thought that was interesting, it then I noticed that her description was almost word for word what was written on the bottom of the menu. Not a big deal, and not her fault I'm sure, but I dislike inauthentic things like that. Wagyu Double Cheeseburger: 5 The burger came with a side of fries and beet ketchup. The fries were good. Nothing special but no complaints. The beet ketchup was also good, but unnecessary. It tasted like ketchup, but was a bit more subdued and had that trademark beet root flavor and aroma. I don't know what it is, but it reminded me of a smell from these plastic coverings used when shipping those plastic molded kiddy pools. At first it smelled, ok, like weird popcorn but it quickly got to my head. The ketchup doesn't do that to me, but beets in general remind me of that, so it bought I'd thrown that in for no good reason. The highlight is the burger, we we'll move on to that now. The bun was really nice. It was light, but also substantial enough, that it held up to the other ingredients. The outermost layer almost felt like thin sheet of bread wax paper, in a really good way. Otherwise, it didn't stand out a lot, but it didn't get jn the way either. The meat was where it really shined. Yeah, it says wagyu, and typically, you think marbling, juiciness or tenderness. This is just a burger though, and it honestly didn't have any of those characteristics. It did however have the best Maillard reaction of any burger I've ever had. The crust was so present flavorful and actually fairly deep into the patty's, without a hint of char. There wasn't anything special about the thickness of the patties. There were a lot of pickles, but they worked really well in the burger, and they weren't dill pickles, which is good. Not a big pickle fan, myself. The biggest issue is the price tag. $23 for a burger is pricey. I've had really great burgers with homemade buns for half that. Maybe if it was pretty loaded, meat wise, but as you can tell in the photo, the mea was pretty hidden. Other stuff: the biscuit was fine. Kinda hard on the outside. Not difficult to eat, but starting to go into crunch territory rather than crisp. Otherwise, the flavor just kinda tasted like regular wheat buttered toast, without the toastiness My friend happened to get the Italian sub. He gave it a two of five. At first he thought it was ok, but about a quarter in, he kept complaining about how prevalent the beef bologna's flavor was. Basically ruined the sandwich and he only had half. I'm sure that's a matter of taste, but I would suspect that unless you're just not a big fan of bologna, avoid it. read more
