There is a plant-based and vegan menu, but it's not entirely clear as they are blurred on the menu and a guest who doesn't eat dairy had selection of the menu after being assured it was "OK". They did the best they could to own the mistake, but it's something to be mindful of. I am a consistent guest here. As the food and service is predictable. If you love tacos/Mexican food, I think you got to try Nomade! We came here for a Saturday lunch and there were quite a lot of people so we had to wait 15mins to be seated. Luckily, we found parking behind the restaurant but it didn't seem like they have a lot of parking available in general. I ordered 3 tacos and they were all amazing and delicious! The chorizo and Castecan tacos were so juicy. I also love that the Frijole taco is full of lean cut meat. I did enjoy the Paunches Bendict but it's a bit on the heavier side so it would be better if you are sharing with someone. Born and raised Austinite here and I typically never write reviews this bad about my home town restaurant because I'm a total supporter of my locals bars and restaurants. The occasion was my sister's bday. I'll start with the ONLY two pros I have- the drinks and the atmosphere were really great. The cons- parking, the food, and my guy in the photo! We started off with drinks which he made great recommendation on. The spicy tuna tostadas tasted like cheap buffet fish at best. The "WAGYU" tacos tasted like something from an off grid food truck in a back alleyway in BFE. The sweet bbq sauce they put on these "wagyu" tacos is so overpowering that you can't taste anything else. They tasted like a cheap pulled pork taco at best. The food is also EXTREMELY overpriced. The worst part of this experience is that when we requested the check my brother and myself asked if we split the bill. My guy in the photos says absolutely! What he FAILED to tell us was that gratuity was already included so we added an extra 18% each to the final bill. We were not aware of this until we checked out receipts in the parking garage. He basically robbed up blind and said we were his best table of the night trying to hype us up and catch us off guard which he totally succeeded in. We made it very clear we were first timers. Nomade serves up chill Tulum energy! It's a very aesthetic restaurant. Majority of the restaurant is outdoors and open air which is lovely and it's completely weathered with fans, heated lamps, etc, I started with a pineapple mimosa ($8 per glass) , the size of the drink is odd and it'd be better slightly chilled. For apps we shared the guacamole ($18) which was the best thing they served for brunch! Overpriced but delicious.. the bowl it's served in gets you one or two bites. The fennel was such a nice touch. The Tuna Crudo ($22) was terrible, I was so dissatisfied with the presentation and taste. The mint was too strong and left a lot to be desired. I love Crudo and expected more from such an upscale place. Masa waffles ($17) were good but need to be served fresh and HOT, these were warm at best. Wagyu taco ($9 per taco) and wagyu birria ($20) were delicious, tender and flavorful! You can tell tacos and Mexican food in general is where they excel. There weren't any unique or interesting ingredients that elevated the meal overall. And attempts fell short. Our server was super attentive and friendly! Nomade lead us off our Matcha Half Marathon tasting trail, but was nonetheless one the best drinks I had all day. Nomade served a hibiscus mimosa drink minus the alcohol. The drink was aesthetically pleasing to view and even more delightful to drink. I was reminded of the hotels in Cairo and Luxor Egypt, where they brought you a refreshing hibiscus welcome drink upon check-in into the hotel. While not Matcha, it was overwhelming delicious. I could have this hibiscus drink all day long. Nomade is a convergence of Zen, open concept and totally earthy environment. It has a retreat like atmosphere with the neutral colors and wicker basket lighting along with gravel floors in some areas of the restaurant. Our server was super friendly and extremely welcoming. We just finished Sunday brunch at Nomade in Austin, and it was truly one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. The moment you sit down, it feels like you've been transported to a peaceful beach in Mexico -- serene, lush, and beautifully designed. Nomade is elevated Mexican food mixed with other cuisines. I think the dishes are works of art, not only in taste and the melding of flavors, but in originality and presentation. Having just flown in from south Florida, I was hot, thirsty, and in need of refreshment so I decided to get the melon agua frescas and it was sweet and delicious. I followed that with the Pais Vasco Spanish white. They have a good list of crudo raw seafood and I tried the scallop aguachile which was excellent - tangy/citrusy and slightly sweet with thin slices of scallop and herbs. For mains, I tried the lubina pohchu (baja striped bass) and the cochinita panucho (shredded pork) and really enjoyed them. The shredded pork was spooned on rounded crispy black bean stuffed tortillas with vegetables on top. The striped bass had a crispy skin topped with very delicate thin crisps of curry coconut and (I think) cilantro and basil herbs over peppers and other vegetables in an orange colored sauce. But I have to say that the jaiba frita (soft shell crab) was my favorite. It was beautifully presented lightly masa fried and claws propped up over a round slice of jimaca with what I think was a green avocado sauce - totally unique and inventive. I washed it down with the Ribera which was not too heavy. My server Matt was very helpful and friendly and honestly I couldn't keep up with all the ingredients he listed and mentioned - he was a super nice guy. Laid back refined atmosphere. Nomade has gotten praise from multiple sources and I was lucky to have decided to eat there almost on a whim as I was walking by (after of course checking its good rating on Yelp). I was hoping to sit at the bar but it was all "reserved" even tho no-one sat there the entire time. No matter, this type of restaurant I think is part of what recent Austin is known for. read more

It's a neat way to try a little bit of everything to explore what Nomade has to offer. The venue itself it small and intimate which I throughly enjoyed. We started with the pumpkin seed hummus. It's a big portion. It had a tomato relish on top but just with the tomatoes were cut smaller so I can get more bites with the hummus. We had the crudo, ceviche, campecheana (my fav of the three). Each were refreshing and mouths exploded with flavor! For our meat option we had the Duck Panucho. Oh wow - it was the tastiest of all we tried. A little spicy and a little sweet but not where the sweet overpowers the dish. Just the right amount! Our server Brittany guided us through the evening the short time we were there. Sunday brunch was perfect! Our server, Sarah, was so kind and made sure we had a great meal. She knew the menu well and was able to make recommendations and was quick to anticipate refills of salsa and drinks. There were 5 of us and it was the first visit to Nomade for all of us. I think this is the first meal in quite a while where we all look at each other at the end of the meal and just agree it was great, no notes. The salsas and guac were very good. I especially loved the green salsa. The guac was fresh and creamy. My tuna crudo and esquites were delicious. The whole menu is gluten free and seed oil free. I think that's why we all felt satisfied and not stuffed by the end of the meal. The food is thoughtfully made. My husband had the Wagyu Tetela Birria which came with perfectly poached eggs. It's rare a restaurant can make them correctly. I had two mimosas and they did not skimp on the wine, which I love. The hibiscus juice was a unique offering for the mimosas. You will love it for a slightly sweeter mimosa. The outdoor atmosphere is beautiful like a beach resort. Don't let the fact that it's mostly outside deter you, there are carefully placed fans and a cover over all the outdoor spaces to keep you dry and cool. R U KIDDING ME?! I'm usually hesitant about "fancy" spots in Austin, but WOW--Nomade completely blew me away. It's a bit under the radar for how incredible it is. Every dish we ordered nailed both presentation and flavor, and the wildest part? Everything was gluten-free and never missed a beat despite differing from the gluten standard at all restaurants. I'm not the biggest fan of Mexican food, as I feel all Mexican dishes are essentially the same. Nomade falls a bit out of this category. I'd call this more New Mexican, elevated Mexican. The attention to detail was stunning, the plating was beautiful and the flavors are so thoughtfully curated. Portions are tapas-style, making it perfect to share with the table to have a little bit of everything. If you're looking to impress, I would highly suggest for a date night! There's only a handful of indoor seating, but that's okay, the outdoor area is perfectly designed so that you don't even feel like you're on the busy street. Everything is tucked away with curtains and tropical decorations. With the mister fans on, it is really pleasant to have dinner here even in 100 degree weather. The service was super nice as well. Onto the food, from best to worst! Castecan - pork belly bowl with a variety of veggies. The pork belly is incredibly tender and well seasoned. I love the fresh veggies to go with it. This is a great main course. Hamachi Ceviche - pineapple, mezcal yellowtail raw dish. This I come back for. The balance of fruity, fresh, and smoky is so nice. Each component mixes so well together. Tempura De Pescado - a bit messy to share since it is fish wrapped in a fried layer and also in gem lettuce. Really tasty and unique take on fish. Wagyu Barbaco Tacos - comes with three. Amazing tamarind coca cola sauce. Jaiba Frita - fried soft shell crab. With the bit of basil and chili, it almost has a thai twist. Only comes with two tacos, so it can be difficult to share. Sikil Pak - pumpkin seed hummus. I would give this a slightly above average score. It's not quite as smooth as a typical hummus, and tastes very Whole-Foods-healthy due to the pumpkin seed. We went for Sunday HH from 4:30-6 and had a great time! We had mezcal palomas for $5 each for HH! We started with the hamachi ceviche - 10/10 absolutely amazing - no notes - just get it! We also got the tuna tostada - I meant to order the tuna crudo on HH but I think our server misheard us - either way it was only $4 more and it was still great - tuna and avocado crema and tomatoes on a tostada. We got the duck panucho which is only one per order so maybe order two if you want your own bc these were delicious - super flavorful! We tried the barbacoa tacos - amazing we added an extra one to make it 4 for $8 which seems steep considering 3 tacos is $19 but these were great flavor and super cute tiny tacos - great tortilla. We also tried shrimp on happy hour as well - the mango/red onion slaw and sauces were tasty but I think the shrimp were a bit overcooked for me personally - my husband still ate them but I am super picky with shrimp. This place is a solid 4, the food is just outstanding! First, I absolutely love the interior. It's very cozy and fun. Let's start with the snacketizers. Their homemade guacamole is one of the best i've had. We loved the tuna tostada! The crudo was just okay, I felt it was a little ambitious. It tasted almost drenched in ginger ale and you couldn't really taste the fish. My two other favs were the duck tostada and the pork tacos with both pulled pork and pork belly. It was my first time to try Nomade which is a restaurant that focuses on cuisine celebrating seafood of the Mexican gulf coast, farms of Quintana Roo and unique spices of Lebanese, Portuguese and African flavors of the region. First off, I was blown away by the ambiance of the restaurant. It has a fresh and natural vibe with a lot of outdoor dining space including an outdoor bar, yet the area is protected from the elements to immerse you in nature but still maintain a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. The staff was very social and friendly and provided great and attentive service through out the meal. I love that this restaurant features tequila and mezcal options. We started at the outdoor bar and were sampling items from the happy hour menu, Tried the Margarita with Tequila Blanco with Salt or Tajin and the Paloma made with mezcal. My favorite was the La Jungla with Uruapan Charanda Anejo Rum, Pineapple, Tepache, Lime 12. It had a rich flavor and was garnished with leaves and pineapple for a unique presentation. The hamachi ceviche was a hit on the menu made with yellowtail, pineapple, mint, mezcal lime espuma. It had a mezcal foam served with the cerviche and included tortilla chips and we ended up ordering a second at dinner. We then transitioned to our indoor reservation where we continued our dining experience. We ordered several items from the menu that we all spilt so we could try a variety of the offerings, this included *COCONUT BURRATA served with tomato, watercress, strawberry and foccacia bread. This dish was very light and herby and we felt the bread masked some of the bright flavors so we ate it with the tortilla chips that came with the ceviche. *CAMARONES had grilled shrimp with pineapple pipian, mango and chayote. These were served with heads and tails attached and were very tasty, *WAGYU BARBACOA TACOS with avocado, tamarind-coke, cilantro and onion. This was also a hit and they were able to add another taco to the order so each person could have one. We liked it so much we ordered a second order. The meat was very tender. *POLLO ASADO with platano macho, elote, crema and guajillo adobo *CASTECAN pork belly, jicama, tomato shallot, recado negro and tortillas. Nomade turned out to be our final supper in Austin before departing the next morning, so wanted to make the most out of our Austin dining experience. We wanted to experience the different type of Mexican cuisine and found Nomade's Yucatan-influenced cuisine very unique and worth trying. Because this is more Tapas-style dining, we ended up ordering several items to share between the two of us. Here's what we ordered: 1) El Yucatecan & Desert Rose Cocktails: Both were super refreshing. The mezcal in the El Yucatecan was smooth and the habanero had a nice kick. 2) Sikil Pak: This was something very unique. Flavors I never tried before. Didn't realize the pumpkin tomato seed hummus would turn out to be green, so that was a pleasant surprise. Tostadas were also fresh. 3) Seta Panucho: This was one of our favorites. I enjoyed the spicy Xnipec sauce. But the black bean and mushroom stuffed tortilla has a nice and savory taste to it. Made me want to eat more. 4) Camote Asado: Really enjoyed the sweet potatoes and the grilled zucchini. The plantains were also good too. It was enough for me to feel full after my girl enjoyed the shrimp. Unfortunately, the minus star comes due to the fact that we did order the Chayote Pohchuc and the Sorbete, but it never arrived because the waitress accidentally never put it in the system. We waited nearly a half hour or so until we realized that was the case. Therefore, we scrapped the Chayote and got the Sorbete instead as it was getting late. The waitress was nice enough to comp us for the sorbete because of the innocent mistake. The sorbete was good. We could only finish 2 of the 3. I really enjoyed the coconut lime, that was my favorite. The passion fruit was also good. All in all, a fun dining experience. One we got to enjoy in an outdoor tent of sorts. The space looks cool (Tulum vibes anyone) but the outdoors as cool as it is visually is uncomfortably hot on a summer day !! We have lived in Phoenix for a few years , also having exclusively designed restaurants & hotels for living while in Phoenix I know a thing or two about outdoor dining in hot weather. I am not sure if the misters weren't working when we were dining but since they have such a large outdoor space it's something that would definitely help improve customer experience. The food though is the main reason for this review ... I must say I am quite disappointed with it over all. It over promised and under delivered for us the sikil pak wasn't like hummus at all. I like the innovative idea of pumpkin seeds but the chef definitely needs to work on its texture and flavor. Seems like it just wasn't our day as our server also forgot my request for light ice and simply took my drink back, returning it half full in a tall glass. The scallop aguachile was ok at best with sour taste overpowering the fragrant notes from the herbs. Both I and my friend had birria she had the wagyu and I had the jackfruit one ... this dish saved the day for Nomade. I am not a big fan of Jackfruit itself but I am an adventurous foodie so I am glad I tried this one despite the sikil pak faux pas. This is a must try for anyone who loves birria. The flavors, texture and presentation were all on point. Kudos for finally getting it right !! In conclusion will I go back ?? May be not as Austin has too many awesome restaurants you can spend your $150 but does the restaurant have potential. Sure !! Tip: May be check out the place in winters when the outdoors might be more pleasant to appreciate the decor. read more

WOW WOW WOW!!! This is the best meal I've had in Austin! Loved everything about this restaurant. The decor is very chic with such a cool vibe. The seating is so comfy with pillows. There is a free parking lot behind the restaurant. Our server, Gary, was absolutely amazing!!! He was very attentive, friendly, funny and so much FUN! This is what we ordered... Guacamole - served with tostada chips. The guac was tangy and yummy. Tuna Crudo - this was an explosion of flavor in your mouth. It was sweet from the strawberries and oh so delicious. Tuna Tostada - also so incredibly flavorful. This was one of my faves. Duck Panucho - this was pretty hearty Camarones - the shrimp had a tangy flavor with the mangoes. Seemed a bit overcooked and dry. Lubina Pohchuc - the sea bass was super yummy as well. Dulce de leche flan - the dessert was not too sweet and just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. An all-around "fancy" experience for Mexican-fusion cuisine that is also vegetarian and vegan-friendly! Reservations are an absolute must if you visit on the weekend, and we were lucky to get indoor seating at 8pm on a Friday night, even if it was at the bar. I appreciate the dedicated vegetarian menu and there were so many interesting things to choose from! I ended up going with the Camote Asado, which was a sweet potato dish that was laid atop a bed of roasted corn. On the side, was a corn-based roll-up (not sure what the proper term is lol) that had cheese crumbles and a white sauce on top. It was an appropriate amount of food that didn't leave me feeling too full! The dessert menu also looked mouthwatering, but will have to save that for next time when I have a more voracious appetite. Definitely Tulum vibes from the design, with drinks and plates that also borrow from the inspiration. Food was overall great, and the service attentive! There were a few items I wanted to try that the had unfortunately sold out of, but definitely will come back to try another time! read more

Came here for the happy hour taco tasting and wowwww was I impressed!! All of the tacos were beautiful crafted and delicious! Came for my friend's birthday and had such a great time! When you're in the restaurant, it feels like you've been transported to a tropical resort. The food and service were amazing. Whoops! It's been 10 months since I dined at Nomade and I see now I never left the review! Ended up there because inKind gave me a $100 credit, but I don't think Nomade is part of inKind anymore. Sad! My meal was asolutely great, and Rob and Ben at the bar took care of me all the way. I'll pretty much let the pictures speak for themselves, but if you're looking for some upscale seafood that isn't as overpriced as some Downtown joints, this is the jam! read more
