Great atmosphere for a nice dinner with a group of friends. Service was also nice and attentive. Started off with some pork belly bao buns and summer rolls to share. The appetizers were sizable but also noted it was on the pricier side for two pieces per dish. I haven't seen Bun Bo Hue on the menu at most Vietnamese restaurants in the area so when I saw it I knew that I had to order it and it did not disappoint! Saigon Kitchen was exactly what we were looking for in Vietnamese food! I ordered the pork belly fried rice, my friend ordered the curry coconut shrimp and noodle soup. We also ordered the pork belly banh mi to split. The fried rice was a 10/10! Flavor galore. The soup was also 10/10 if you're into all of those flavors together. This was my first time trying banh mi but my friend has it before and we both didn't enjoy it. It seemed like the bork belly should have been cooked longer (it was like ham) but I also don't know if that's how it's prepared since I've never had it (this is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5). We both got several drinks as well that tasted amazing. The service was attentive and prompt although we were only one of two parties in the restaurant. When I say that this was some of the best pho I've ever had, I mean it! I'm very picky when it comes to pho and other soups. Upon entrance, I was worried it would be catered toward an American taste palate as most Vietnamese restaurants I have been to have a more casual interior, but this place had a more upscale look. The servers were attentive and friendly, although our appetizer came out much later after our entrees. I got the Vietnamese Shrimp Garlic Noodles and Cha Gio. I was disappointed by the Vietnamese Shrimp Garlic Noodles as I was expecting more of an umami taste instead of a sweet taste. I could not even taste the garlic in this dish, which confused me due to the name of the dish. The Cha Gio with pork and shrimp was good, but I thought it could have been better seasoned inside. I tried the broth from the House Special Pho and Bun Bo Hue and it tasted super good! The lemongrass flavor popped out in the Bun Bo Hue. My friends also ordered some coffees which were strong but tasty. Overall, I would come back to try the noodle soups and drinks as that seems to be where most of the flavor is in their dishes. If I could, I would probably rate this a 3.5/5 stars just based on the food I ordered. I think it is a little pricey, but it is located in downtown Raleigh so it makes sense. read more

The interior decoration of the restaurant is also nice! Some aspects I was less sure about food wise was the rare beef I got in my Bun Bo Hue. It was very cooked through so the meat was chewy. The pho broth while flavorful, also had a much stronger herbal flavor than I was used to, which may not be for everyone. I was indifferent about it. Not our waiter, but the host that sat us was very nice, but we received two different menus. One was the lunch special and the other was their normal menu so it created some confusion. This place is way over priced for Vietnamese food. I never spent so much on pho unless it had the beef rib in it, but they sold out before dinner so couldn't even try it. An exciting new addition to the downtown Raleigh food scene! This place was delicious and service was fantastic. I went for a late Sunday lunch and the place was packed, but the staff were so friendly & welcoming. Service is definitely their strong suit as I heard many others comment the same. Atmosphere was cheerful and energizing. The food came out quick & was delicious. I highly recommend getting one of the traditional Vietnamese iced coffees, which had a strong, rich flavor that grew on me the more I drank it. Lunch. Normally go to Midtown Pho but they were closed Tuesday. We tried Saigon Kitchen and glad we did. The house special pho, was filled with meats but the broth was really good. Wife got the vermicelli bun and the fish sauce was very good, not the normal strong flavor. The summer rolls were large, freshly rolled, filled with extra items that made it a step up from others. I was so stemmed about this place opening but it's turned out to be a downer. we went on Sunday and the place wasn't crowded. Our server was SUPERB! He was sweet, funny, engaging-I felt like I was on a date with him. I ordered the chive/pork dumplings and they were really good, the dough was a little tough but the inside was kissing a boy. I asked about the chicken dish and was reassured that it was chicken breast and after waiting an hour and ten minutes the thing was not a breast. Then I was told they could bring me a Pho in like minutes-but it took a long time and it was tasteless and not at all what you would expect from a new restaurant trying to impress. The dishes were unimpressive and dull. The one dish that stood out was the crepe. It was tasty but not divine. I wish restaurants in Raleigh would step up and do great food like in NYC and other crowded fun places. Raleigh has a ton pf people but no soul.
