For those familiar with Vallejo, you know the options are pretty limited. Daikon took over the old Black Angus location--if anyone remembers that spot. The décor is modern, but you can still see traces of the old Black Angus layout. Not a big deal, just an observation. There are two choices: the Premium AYCE or the standard AYCE. The server was great--she was handling a lot on her own, but she was on point. When it comes to all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ, it's hard to compare with other spots, but you can usually tell by the quality of the meats. For Vallejo, I'd say it's a solid addition. Overall a good experience save for a minor hiccup. (Front Desk) Service 3/5 Could be better. When I joined the waitlist, the host told me it would be a 45 minute wait. So I decided to run some errands at Costco to pass time. Less than 5 minutes later, when I hadn't even parked in the Costco lot yet, I received a call that the table was ready. The call dropped so I headed back immediately after that. Once I came back to claim my seat, the host told me in an inconvenienced manner that she had removed me from the waitlist because called my name multiple times and even called my phone. However she was able to squeeze us back in. That left a sour feeling because I was told it would be a much longer wait and couldn't do anything about the phone call dropping. Long story short, they should have given me a more accurate wait time and their waitlist system should be better--we should have a 10 minute window to claim our table in the case that we're not on the premises. Food: 5/5 That aside, everything else after that went smoothly. We were seated and the server took our orders right away. For the meats, we tried the garlic soy pork belly, Hawaiian marinated steak, brisket, and pork bulgogi--my favorite was the garlic soy. For the apps/sides we got cheese corn, dumplings, onion, fish cake, lettuce wrap, and mushrooms. I wanted rice paper with my proteins but they were out so I was a bit bummed. Everything hit the spot. Came here on a Sunday night and it wasn't too busy. We joined the waitlist once we were within the miles it let us join and got seated a few minutes once we arrived. Our server was really nice and very fast at checking up on us and taking our order. The brisket and I think beef belly and there was another but it was like galbi but without the bones I forgot what it was called but those were my favorites and we kept ordering those meats!! The sides were good too. The macaroni salad they had as a side paired well with everything I kept asking for more on that. The only thing is cheese corn is my favorite when I see it on the menu but when we got it there was almost no cheese on the corn so it was basically a plate of corn. TLDR: Absolutely love this place. Looking forward to the next visit. I've visited Daikon twice for lunch and once for dinner with various family members so far and each time has been better than the last. The interior is very spacious, clean, and well decorated. The booths are comfortable and the grills are well ventilated and the staff make sure they're clean and frequently change them out for you. The servers we have had have all been friendly and knowledgeable. I love KBBQ and have gone quite a lot over the years and think Daikon's price is very fair for the quality of the food and the variety of options available. My personal favorites are spicy pork belly, spicy bulgogi, hamachi carpaccio, and the salt/pepper wings. The side dishes are also well done, the lettuce for the wraps is always crisp, and the rice has been perfect every time. read more

We loved and supported Daikon since day 1. We were even coming almost every other week. It gives my husband and I a break from having to cook at home with a busy household, having two kids under 2. However, we were disappointed during our last visit. We went to celebrate my mom and dad's wedding anniversary. 4 adults, 1 2-year old and my 4 month old in a stroller. Our server was very efficient and attentive, no complaints there. When we got the check and paid, I noticed they charged us for "party of 6". Approached our server and said it was her manager's idea to add it on. It was never mentioned to us before paying, good thing I looked after getting my receipt. Spoke with the manager, he was nice enough to talk to us but he couldnt justify why he had to charge us for party of 6. On the menu, it says something like "all seated individuals are charged". I get my 2 year old is seated in a high chair. But my 4 month old is in her stroller, so how is she counted? All the manager could tell us was they are making changes to the policy, it's also written on the menu (yeah but my 4 month old is not seated), and so we dont have to worry about gratuity (I also paid a good amount of tip). The manager was kind enough to refund us the extra charge, he said he'll do it just this time. He was still missing the point but I didn't want to argue any further. We loved this place but now we're almost convinced this is not baby friendly for us tired and exhausted parents. Anyways, I went during the first ten minutes of opening and had to wait twenty minutes just to be seated. When you arrive, you have to sign in on the iPad. So when you first enter, you're already part of a waitlist. Absurd in my opinion. I'm not sure if they are understaffed but the service was very slow and the restaurant was not that busy. My bro and I had to wait for our grill to be changed for about twenty minutes. The sides were okay. My brother said the kimchi tasted like the kimchi you buy from Costco and I agreed. The food was good. We enjoyed the meats and lemon pepper wings. Rice was cooked well. Spicy ramen tasted like top ramen chicken noodle soup. The AYCE (All You Can Eat) menu is pretty extensive. In fact, it's almost confusing. But with a little practice... yes, I plan to come back and become a pro at odering. Great selection of starters, mains, and add-ons. From crispy calamari (which to my mind was just a bit too crispy) to pork, steak, and seafood selections, you really can't go wrong. Because it was Friday, the lunch menu wasn't available - Fri/Sat/Sun require the weekend (dinner) menu. All good. We got to choose sushi rolls and sashimi to accompany our already full table. I visited Daikon just yesterday , and while the ambiance and staff were okay, the overall food experience was disappointing. The cuts of meat were of poor quality, and the grill heated up unevenly --but the rest stayed cold, causing the meat to burn easily. Even though it wasn't a busy night, we didn't finish our meal and left early. I think whoever selects the cuts of meats needs to choose a better quality of --good meat the pork belly for premium was a leaner choice of meat which cooked very dry. read more

After waiting 40 minutes we still haven't been seated and hostess said that they're getting our table ready when it doesn't make sense that more than half of the tables are opened and we're still not seated and so many customers that came in after us are being seated. Pretty good place for Korean BBQ in Vallejo. The restaurant took over where Black Angus used to be. Went here on a Saturday evening. It was pretty busy, but we were able to get a table pretty quickly. We opted for the supreme menu, since I was curious about their sushi selections. The sushi rolls were not too bad. You get about 4 to 5 pieces. Some rolls are the cooked kind, while others are the raw type. The banchan was pretty standard. Kimchi cabbage, cucumbers, potato salad, steamed vegetables, etc. All tasted pretty good. Loved the meats. We had bulgogi, galbi, rib fingers, prime steak, ribeye, brisket, spicy pork belly, and thick pork belly. Nice to know that we were able to order garlic noodles, japchae, and lemon pepper wings as our appetizers. All appetizers were worth it. The supreme menu is definitely worth it if you want sushi with your meal. All the meats we had were pretty much quality and marinated very well for us to quickly cook on the grills at our table. Our server made our dining experience very special. He was very courteous and helpful. He made sure we got what we wanted and he was very attentive. Stumbled upon this place by accident! The place closest to us was WAY too packed, so I searched up some options and this sounded the most appealing! This place DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We did the more expensive option that includes the sushi. The service was fantastic, and all staff were kind! The restaurant itself was very nice, clean, and they even had a DJ at the time we were there who made the experience more fun! The food was sooooo yum! I'm surprised that i havent posted a review for this place yet. I probably have been here at least 3 times and this is my personal review. Location: ample parking lot and situated close to costco. The place is spacious which translates to more tables and bigger capacity. The only thing i am not a fan of is the temperature inside, all three times ive been here, it is always freezing! be sure to bring a jacket. Food: Not a lot of choice compared to other KBBQ ive been to but I cant complaint with regard to the quality and flavor. I love their wings and we always order them. Kimchi is too sour for me. Overall, I have nothing against the food selection and quality. Service: Hit and miss, the last two visits were great. Our servers were prompt and proactive. They were always checking in on us but our last visit wasnt really that great. Server took a minute to start us with drinks and he seems like always MIA. Really nice decor inside. We were seated right away . To start we went on a Tuesday evening and what I wasn't so happy about was that our waitress was short of help. She had 7 tables to tend too, so things did move a little slow. She did well but maybe in the future management can send someone to help her. Other than that the food was delicious. Everything that we ordered that was marinated , we ordered again and again. The AYCE sushi was delicious as well. I only wish I wore my stretchy pants. Hands down one of the best Korean BBQ places I have been to. The restaurant was clean with friendly staff. Waited 45 min in a Monday night. You can choose the premium or the supreme Ayce menu. We chose the Supreme Ayce, which I highly recommend. Supreme menu allows you to order the rib fingers and sushi. Service was fast with such tasty sides. We pretty much did 3 rounds of meat within a party of 4. I love that we were able to adjust the exhaust up or down while cooking.. Greasy! 1) We arrived right when they opened so nobody was waiting yet the host still had to take down a name and number and had us wait a few minutes. 2) of all the tables in the entire restaurant, we were seated at one with still grease spots. As it turns out, looked like they have a hard time keeping grease off of tables and furniture because as we left and seriously looked, we noticed grease spots everywhere. 3) when we got seated and noticed the dirty table, we told the waiter. He came back with a piece of napkin to wipe off one spot of leftover grease/food/whatever. Then argued about the other grease spots saying that he doesn't see them! Geez, really! This is one of the best KKBQs I've had in a long time! Truly great service, price, selection of meats, and great atmosphere!!! When you walk in there's a big waiting area for you to check in through the Yelp waitlist or front desk. We came early in the day so there wasn't a wait approx 10 minutes. We were seated in a large booth area and went with the Premium menu, which is the cheaper selection menu option. I think it's $34.99 for Premium vs Supreme which is $42.99 - Nov 2024 Appetizers: cheese corn - so buttery melted hot cheesy goodness!!! Egg soufflé was great and the garlic noodles were more thick like an udon. For the meats: the brisket is the best item on the menu, it's perfect and great quality and I love thin cuts! Also if you like pork their garlic soy pork belly thin cut, it cooked so well and had some of the best flavors. I didn't see the spicy pork thin cut until I looked at the menu again so I know I have to go back and try it. Beef belly was also delicious, along with their boneless short ribs, and LA GALBI which had great marinades. I also tried their Hawaiian steak but it wasn't as much of a standout as their other meats. The best sides would be their japchae, the assorted vegetables , salad, rice paper, and rice. That salad dressing is AMAZING and so good with the meats on top. Everything grilled so nicely. The staff were attentive and helped with grill changes and refilling our sauces (try all three: sesame oil/salt, soy sauce, and their hot sauce) Had a couple brisket refills and finished off with sesame balls. Extremely full and happy with this place! A great place for couples; families, birthday parties, grad celebrations, anything really. It's perfect for those that want the AYCE for an affordable AND quality selection! The overall vibe of the place was nicely lit, the grills had some filter to contain the smell/smoke so I didn't walk out of the restaurant with smoky clothes which is a nice plus.
