    Double bacon cheeseburger
    Jeff W.

I've always known dairy chef for their ice cream, but their food is great as well! I had a double bacon cheeseburger and it was a thick one! Overall the food was fresh and cooked correctly. It could use a bit more seasoning but I did really enjoy it. Their hand cut fries are very yummy as well! Went at a quiet time for the restaurant so the line was very quick. The servers were polite and timely. Overall had a great time and will be eating more than just ice cream moving forward!

We LOVE Dairy Chef ice cream!!! So pure, it's wonderful. The only thing we don't like is how popular it is so it makes the lines long!!! We have now moved to going to pickup a pint in Hyvee grocery where they sell their ice cream!!! Just as GREAT as being in person!! They just added an awning which allows for shade from the sun! Great addition! It looks like the kids who work there always are having a good time and greet their guests well!

The BEST soft serve ice cream by far! If you are in Elkhorn stop before they close for the season.

If you're looking for the best sundae, malt, cone, ice cream sandwich or delectable ice cream treat - Dairy Chef is your spot. Not only are serving up some of the best ice cream in the Omaha area, they also do it so quickly and efficiently. And it hits right into the nostalgia of getting ice cream on hot summer nights. A must stop for an ice cream fix!

A super popular in nostalgic ice cream place in Elkhorn, Nebraska! It's always busy, but the line moves pretty quickly! There's plenty of outdoor seating, but it was all taken up because there were just so many people there! We went around 7:30 pm on a Saturday night, which I feel like is prime dessert time after dinner. I got a small ice cream sundae in a dish with the hardshell chocolate. It's some of the best ice cream out there, super creamy and decadent with a really nice contrast from the hard chocolate shell. The servings are huge, which I love. I also got a side of onion rings, which I forgot to take a picture of and those were so perfect. A lot of the times places can make their onion rings way too greasy, but these were great.

After living in Omaha for almost a decade I am finally trying Dairy Chef!! I gotta say it is worth the hype. As you all can tell by my pictures I love getting the flavor of the week. My favorite flavor of the week that they did would have to be orange and cherry. I like the more fruity flavors and vanilla or chocolate. They have options for all tastebuds. They have outdoor seating so if it's a hot sunny day don't forget a hat and some sunglasses. The burger also surprised me too! Wow so delicious!! Customer service was great and they are quick with preparing everything. What a great experience. Definitely coming back to try more.

A classic mom and pop shop vibe with amazing quality ice cream and an extensive menu of options!! we love going here in the summer. They have plenty of picnic tables and areas to sit and you just walk up to the counter, order and they run it out to you extremely fast. I love seeing all the fun combinations that they put together for the icecream! They also have really good food that we've tried before. Mostly corn, dogs, burgers, cheese, curds french fries a more fair food type of menu. but nothing goes better than with ice cream than good greasy food

"Small" flavor of the week twist.

Big portions and delicious food. Staff are always friendly and great outside dining area. I love visiting this Elkhorn classic!

    Strawberry Pomegranate Tropical Storm

I always order the tropical storm with the flavor of the week, and I have to admit, it is one of the best ice creams I've have in a long while. My favorite flavor so far was the cherry orange tropical storm. Second favorite being the lemon lime. I forgot to take pictures of these two, so enjoy a picture of the strawberry pomegranate flavor, which was also good. Besides the desserts, I have also tried the burger and it is equally as amazing. Service at this food joint is always quick and friendly. In terms of atmosphere, it's a very small take-out style place. There is plenty of outdoor seating and plenty of spots to park. Overall, a great place to bring friends, family or a date.

Just a burger (w/mustard and ketchup). Great flavor, but got a couple bone pieces in this one patty.

Went on a Friday mid-afternoon (second time), and there was a line about 20-25 deep (and soon about 20 deep behind me). Moved really quickly, though! There is an option for call-in & pickup. Service is always impeccable and super friendly, here, so big kudos to all the staff. Very much a team effort! Ambiance is whatever's going on outside, since it's an outside walk-up to order place. Sadly, I can't recommend the ice cream cones. I got the vanilla butterscotch dipped waffle cone. The waffle cones have too much a gooey texture and starchy flavor. Ditto for the ice cream--too goopy and the additives negatively affected the flavor and aftertaste of the simple vanilla cone. The butterscotch coating coated the inside of my mouth in a plasticky, unpalatable way. Maybe the storms (the blended shakes) are better--only one of our kids got one, but he slurped his Oreo/chocolate/fudge storm down super fast and said he enjoyed it. The cheese curds and hamburgers are decent, though. I got a simple, just-a-burger with mustard and ketchup. The meat isn't the highest quality (I got a couple small bone pieces), but the flavor and cooking is good. The bun was similarly simple, and good. If you're looking for a beefy sandwich, this isn't a bad stop. Just chew lightly... The breading on the cheese curds is pretty light, so the cheese takes center stage, but it's oddly granular in a somewhat uncomfortable way. They're nicely salty, too. Perfect without any dipping sauce. Both times I got the curds, the fry oil was fresh. Always appreciated. The ambiance is the star at Dairy Chef, both the environs and the staff: 5/5!!! But the ice cream is what I really wanted to enjoy, here, and that misses the mark: 2/5. Overall, 3/5.

Dairy chef is my "go to" summer spot. I am currently counting down the days until they reopen for the season. Whether you're going for dinner or just a sweet treat, you won't be disappointed. There is always a line (understandably) but workers are always kind, helpful, and efficient.

We love their ice cream but their burgers and fries are just as good! The line always goes quickly and eating on their patio screams summer!

Most of our group had been to Cheddar's before, and we were all excited to try some new menu items. Overall, the food was a hit. The onion rings came out hot and fresh, the lemon pepper chicken was especially juicy, and the white fish ended up being another favorite at the table. That said, there were a few service missteps that took away from the experience. Two people in our group ordered the white fish blackened, but only one plate came out as requested--the other was pretty bland. When our server eventually checked in (a bit later than expected), we mentioned the mix-up. His response was pretty casual, something along the lines of there just being less spice, and he didn't offer to fix it or have it remade. We ended up just swapping a fillet between the two plates so each person had one blackened and one not. It worked, but it felt like something that should have been handled differently. There were also a few moments where drinks went empty for a while, and our server wasn't around much. At one point, a manager actually stepped in and refilled waters for the table, which we appreciated. Overall, the service felt very laid-back...but to the point where it came across like he didn't care. One bright spot worth mentioning: my salad came out before the meal with a lot more cheese on top than I expected. As I was picking some off onto a side plate, a manager happened to notice and stopped to ask if I'd prefer a new salad without cheese. I explained it wasn't a mistake, just more than I wanted, but I really appreciated the attention and the offer to make it right.

We ordered double dipped wings and they arrived without any sauce. The staff took it back to the kitchen once I notified them and they did a light sauce toss and it was hardly covered/had any flavor. They were grey and oily on the skin even after they tried to fix it with a light sauce toss. They also charged us for an extra ranch we didn't receive. I'd give them a pass if they were busy but they weren't more than half full when we were there. Needless to say, we did not take our leftovers home. I also really disliked that we didn't get to see the receipt before paying because we didn't get to correct their mistakes for what they charged us for and honestly, for what it all cost, it was not worth it at all. I'll go to a local bar next time instead but honestly disappointed in the experience. DJs is usually much better but with the cost plus experience, I'll be going elsewhere. I'll always give a restaurant a chance before leaving a review and we made sure to let our server know there was an issue with the food we spent $72 on but they did not put much effort in to fix it.
