I have been going to this Dairy Queen for years. When I was younger, I used to love getting the Blizzards. They were such a treat. In more recent years, I have only gone to DQ for their delicious ice cream cakes. Yesterday, I bought the smallest birthday cake that they had. There are three different sizes of cakes, packaged and ready to go. I got the smallest one because they can be pretty filling. What I like about this Dairy Queen is that they write on the cake and color coordinate it with the decorations already on the cake. The cakes could be considered pricey, but I think they are about the right price. I paid $16 for a cake that feeds 2-4 people. If you calculate that to a scope for 4 people, it's $4 each, which is about the price people pay for individual ice cream. The ice cream cakes can cost up to $30. In regards to the service, the employees are pretty polite. I was asked if I needed help selecting a cake and everything went pretty smoothly. This was about 4 p.m. in the afternoon so not during peak hours. Overall, my experiences here have been smooth. If you are looking for a good atmosphere, this isn't the place to go. Customer service could be way better. Ordered a small dipped cone paid with cash. Cashier in giving me my change drops from the coins a penny. It drops on her side if the counter. I know it's just a penny, but it was her reaction that surprised me. She gave that look like " big deal, I'm not picking it up. I'm getting your ice cream." Yes this was yesterday around 340pm. The location needs to update the signage outside their store because I ordered off the DQ app and was confused about whether or not I was able to enter because it only said that "Grubhub, DoorDash, and Postmates can pickup their order." By the time I got inside, the employees were confused when I told them my name until I showed them my order on the phone and then I got my order, which was melted and I needed to put them into the freezer. Ever since Dairy Queen merged with Orange Julius (for reasons I have absolutely no idea), their quality of Ice Cream decreased. They also rebranded their image as "DQ" rather than Dairy Queen to deemphasize the word 'dairy.' I'm not sure they remedied their recipe to be in accordance with their ice cream ideology, but the flavor is not as slick and buttery. It almost has the exact same taste as MCdonalds, and more pricy at that, too. It seems to be that locating DQ is now sparse as MCdonalds is the surrogate replacement in everything from the cone to their MCflurry that has replaced the blizzard. Dairy Queen is struggling to rebrand and appeal to Los Angeles denizens since their taste is essentially the same as MCDonalds which is in way more abundance. While waiting in line for ice cream, a cup fell down and the person working the cash register picked it up and put it on the counter. Then later on as the same person was tidying up the counter top, they put that same cup back in the stack of other cups for it to be used. After seeing that happen it made me not want to order from there, so I got out of line and left to get ice cream elsewhere. It is sad because this is usually my go-to spot for our family to get a sweet treat! There's only two little booths and around four little "bar" chairs that swivel. The counter is around five feet long. All in all its pretty tiny. There have been times when about twenty people were in there and families have had to huddle in corners while the line stretched towards the door. If you have claustrophobia only go when there's barely anyone, which is often so don't fret. Moving on the people are pretty nice; I personally have not had any problems with the service. In a nutshell the place is baby small and the people are nice. The ice cream. Dairy Queen had always given me quality ice cream with creamy deliciousness. Does this place live up to the creamy deliciousness. Sadly, this is the closest DQ to my house and the ice cream does not deliver. The ice cream doesn't have the beloved creaminess of other DQ locations. Not only that, but its not as frozen. As weird as it sounds my ice cream is usually melting by the time I'm walking out the door. Pretty much the ice cream is average and nothing special, unlike other DQs. The verdict? 3.2 (3)/5 stars for a small area, decent ice cream, and above average service. As the closest DQ to me I keep coming here. Hopefully they build a better one closer to me. I went to Dairy Queen tonight with my fiance. The guy who helped me is typically there, and he never seems like he wants to work there. When he helped me he seemed annoyed and talked very low. I could barely hear the amount he said when he gave me my change. When I was talking to my fiance while waiting for the blizzard, at some point he exclaimed something to me from across the kitchen amidst other conversations and such to me. When I asked him what he said, he replied in a very stern, annoyed, and aggressive voice, "Do you want one spoon or two?" I said one, took it, and wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. For more than 20 years, this DQ has sat comfortably and assertively on this street corner and it doesn't look like it'll budge any time soon. I've been here ONCE over 10 years ago and last night, I made a return. Why, I have no clue. I was shopping at the Marukai in the same center and the better half wanted ice cream so, we went. Last time I visited, I was 16 years old and just about on my way to college. I forget why I was in this plaza and who I was with but dammit if I didn't come in and order an Oreo Blizzard. Creamy with lots and lots of Oreos. Very thick and they did that whole turn-it-upside-down thing to show how thick it was. Good stuff. Last night I had the Mint Oreo Blizzard. No turning upside down and it was limp and watery from the start. The first few bites tasted like Mint Oreo cookie. After the fifth or sixth bite, things started to tasting more like Pine Sol. Uh...... What happened? I'm curious now to visit another DQ to see if they do the turn-it-upside-down gig. What a disappointment. My bowels didn't appreciate the visit either. read more

I recently read the Blizzard was celebrating its 25 year anniversary. I hadn't been to a DQ in over 10 years and really don't remember seeing one around for nearly as long. But I thought if I ever see one I'd stop in for a Blizzard for old time's sake. Today as I was running an errand I spotted a DQ and pulled in. It's a rare sighting to find one of these. As I walked in I had a flashback to the last time I visited a Dairy Queen; I had a brief stint as a high school teacher many years ago and had some students who worked at the local DQ. It was my ticket to free Blizzards (and good to get a C+ bumped to a B-). Back then they also served burgers. Not any more. They just had "ice cream" and hot dogs on the menu. I was a bit hungry and made the idiotic mistake of getting a hot dog. It came with a couple packets of mustard and relish. If you imagine the last time you had a hot dog at a cheap kiddie carnival, this was way worse than that. I had a couple bites and tossed it. My fond memories of the Blizzard were shattered as I ate my cookie dough Blizzard and realized it really wasn't so good. Yes! I love being first! This place is usually crowded by many mums and kids or pops and kids or kids and kids. I only go here when my little brother asks me to go (kid and kid)--oh, the things you do in the name of familial love! This small DQ has low red round stools in front of a huge glass window. It reminds me of the 1950s malt shops. There are several booths on the side, too. We walked inside and was greeted by a local high school student. Today was my first time having a blizzard. Basically, today was my first day of living life. I got the cookie dough & chocolate fudge blizzard & it was heavenly. It was vanilla ice cream with huge cookie dough bites & chocolate fudge:) I went with my whole family at around 9 pm and it was so busy! considering the amount of people inside waiting, we got our orders pretty fast. My little brothers got chocolate brownie fudge ice cream things, my boyfriend got a chocolate shake with chocolate ice cream, and I got the blizzard. The location is really small, but it has a large parking lot. The menu is big, easy to read, and easy to order from. It's clear and concise. I would suggest to do future Dairy Queen business at the Garden Grove D.Q. on Valleyview Street or the Cerritos D.Q. on 183rd Street. Why? Today I received an email from Dairy Queen offering a free Oreo Frappe to all customers today only between certain hours. This Dairy Queen would not offer giving anything for free. We have also noticed that this location only puts far fewer ingredients in their Blizzards and shakes, such as Heath Bar pieces, Oreo pieces etc. Go to any other D.Q. and they put plenty on ingredients in. They have also refused free give aways sponsored by Dairy Queen Headquarters in past years. Let this place fold up and go out of business and give it to new owners who will operate it properly and care about their customers. read more

I went to the Diary Queen in Cypress, ca. The lady handled money with her gloves on (totally fine and should be done) but then grabbed a cone directly for my order and was going to proceed to make a cone that was for my daughter. I told her to throw that cone away take the gloves off and wash her hands then use a napkin to wrap around the cone and make it. I then got napkins to grab the cone and safely threw the napkins in the trash before giving to my daughter. Employees need to be trained to use common sense especially right now or close! read more

I went in today and asked if they still had the oreo cheesecake blizzard. I was told yes so I ordered it! My dad ordered a regular caramel sundae. We got it to go so they were bagged. When we got home, I discovered my oreo cheesecake was a strawberry cheesecake. My dad called and complained. I was still unhappy so we drove back to get the blizzard I actually wanted. One worker took the blame. And basically they took back my strawberry cheesecake blizzard and gave me a new oreo cheesecake blizzard. She just handed it to me and then a lid instead of setting it to go like my previous order. Didn't make up for the mistake they made or the fact I had to drive back to get what I actually ordered. I used to always order the Triple Chocolate Utopia but they stopped making those there for awhile now. DQ ice cream cakes are delicious and are great for birthdays and other celebrations. The service quality fluctuates each time I go there. The employees are usually young adults which is fine, but it seems like some of them have an attitude and are not really happy to be there serving you (which may be the case but they should at least fake it and try to put on a smile while taking your order). Ahh Dairy Queen. Been taking the kids over the last few weeks for weekend treats. What can I say. The Blizzards are great. They have a mini size for about $2. Perfect size. Not too much, but enough to satisfy the palate. My son loves the Chocolate dipped cones. This location is pretty clean. And, the folks working here are pretty nice. 2 stars - one for effort, one for cleanliness. When I found there was a DQ by me, I couldn't wait for the hamburger, fries and Blizzard. Upon entering, I noticed the place is rather small. The female cashier just looked at me, didn't say a thing, no "hello, may I assist you," nothing. I look up at menu and can't find the hamburgers. She told me they don't have hamburgers at this location. So I ordered chicken sandwich. I asked for fries, they only have chips at this location. I asked for iced tea, they only have raspberry. Well, at least I'm able to get my oreo blizzard. I never rec'd my receipt, the tea had spilled on the tray and she didn't even clean it up or give me a new tray. Upon closer look, the paper cup had a leak at the bottom as there was more and more on my tray when I finished. The chicken was bland white throughout and was just warmed in the microwave (could have used another minute or so). It wasn't until then that I realized why they don't have a grill or fryer - they only have a microwave. Well, the blizzard was just "bland" as hardly any oreos in it and she did not put any oreos on the top either. I'm a stronger believer of different nationalities in America and more the merrier for me. Both employees were of India decent and the male was WAY more outgoing and pleasant to everyone in which he spoke, even smiled. The female either doesn't know what customer service means or is just there to use the microwave. She definitely needs "hospitality" training for sure. I can understand if the place is not a full-board DQ, but I would suggest it either be named "DQ Jr" or "DQ2" for those of us expecting the full menu or even a representation of the menu. read more
