DQ is good as far as fast food goes, and when I visit DQs in other states, all is fine. However, I went to the DQ at this Albany location last month (July) and it was definitely the MOST unsanitary restaurant I have even been in. If you only use the drive-thru, you would never know how dirty it is inside and under what conditions your food is being handled. Every surface in the place was filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The employees here must be closing this restaurant up night after night without lifting a finger to clean anything. I hadn't been there for a year prior, but back then I can tell you it wasn't like this. It's a shame. read more

After waiting 10 minutes for my drink I had to go back up to the counter and wait another 10 minutes for my drink so I could finally eat my ice cold burger. Be prepared as this location is awful. The staff is miserable. We ordered two limited time blizzards and they didn't have them. Moved on to order two other blizzards and they didn't have those either. The woman at the drive thru was not pleasant at all. We finally settled on two blizzards that they actually did have. When pulling up to the window the ice cream wasn't ready and we were directed to pull around to the front where she would bring it out to us. She didn't. We sat out front for 10 minutes until I went in to get it myself. I got inside and all of the staff ignored me for 10 minutes. Finally one of the women asked what do you want. After hearing about their "Take 5" candy bar blizzard, I stopped by one evening. A small was the perfect size for me, and it was so thick that when turned upside down nothing came out. The first few inches were jam-packed with peanuts, pretzels, candy, etc... just like it should be. The bottom few inches were more ice cream with just random pieces of toppings. We arrived shortly after the dinner rush for our sweet treats. The store was surprisingly very clean but you could see the staff was exhausted. There was a customer who was being very impatient off to the side of the counter waiting for her order while the staff moved like busy bees in the kitchen. While we did have to wait almost 15 mins in line to place our orders, we received them in less than five. Overall it was a decent experience and the only reason I am give one star less beyond the things I made mention of above is the young man pulling fries directly from the fryer basket and eating them in plain view through the window (mask down and heavy eye contact as he realized he had been seen). The bathroom smells like an open sewer, and there were flies throughout the dining area, hovering around dirty tables that hadn't been cleaned. The overall atmosphere felt neglected. While the food was standard burger joint fare; nuked burgers and barely warm fries. The cleanliness issues severely detracted from the experience. Sometimes, you just need to pick up some fast food. The Blizzards are pretty good, but very expensive. Everything is very expensive actually. For $23 we didn't even get enough for a filling dinner. And everything is just frozen food, fried up. There is absolutely nothing making this place stand out among the other fast food places. We ordered a 6 piece basket, upgrading to a 'large' fry (NOT large, we could barely share the serving), a very very small order of cheese curds which they label "regular" and two small blizzards. They charged extra for sauces. It was such a rip off. I would not return here. Sonic is a better choice for a different variety of fast food locally. This was a fun and reminiscent experience for my friends and I...a 3.5 star experience but I rounded up. Having been to a 'burger and ice cream' place with a similar order at counter and sit to be served concept, this newly opened chain on Central Ave was bustling with adults and kiddies. There are DQ's signature menu items like Grillburgers, Artisan Style Sandwiches, Chicken Sandwiches, Salads, and more. There's also ice cream sundaes, blizzards, hot desserts, waffle cones, shakes/malts, Orange Julius drinks + cakes to go! Besides all of that, kid's meals and $5 buck lunch seem like attractive options for those who want more for less. We ordered the $5 buck lunches to get an overall try of the menu items. Choose from 3 pc chicken strips, a chicken wrap, or a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger comes with fries, a medium soft drink, and a sundae. The burger had a beef patty, cheese, tomato, onions, pickles, lettuce, and ketchup +mayo. The bun could be a lot better toasted and it also did not have the sesame seeds like it showed in the pictures. It was the typical quality for a fast food restaurant and while it didn't exceed my expectations it met the very standard for what it is worth, so no complaints here. The side of fries were crispy and finely flavored, napkins and condiments on every table. Also, my pineapple topped sundae was satisfying, my friends who got the hot fudge and strawberry were equally happy too. For just five bucks my stomach is now full and I probably won't be hungry again for hours. The line was pretty long when I got in for the lunch hour, but moved fairly quickly along. The staff were friendly and helpful with answering questions about menu items and even repeated our order to us for accuracy. There is a grab-n-go cake section for all your ice cream cake needs. Once you pay and get a number card to set on your table of choice, the staff will deliver the goods right to you. The only semi-awkward thing is that your ice cream sundaes will be the first thing you will receive...way before your hot menu items. I had dessert first, but I can't say I honestly care. I ordered a birthday cake a day ahead of time for pickup time at 6pm on a Friday. It is 7pm on the night of and I am currently waiting for it for the past 10 minutes. I finally made my way to a Dairy Queen and it was disappointing. I ordered a cheeseburger and a 4 piece chicken tender basket. The cheeseburger was not good. It was small, the meat tasted weird and the pickles tasted bad. It cost $3, I can get a McDouble at McDonald's for a $1 and it tastes much better. The chicken tenders were not good. The first two tenders I ate were dry and overcooked. The next two were juicy and crispy, it didn't make sense. The fries were generic, but had decent flavor. Nostalgia! My review is based on pure nostalgia. My taste buds have grown up since I was the child who once adored DQ back in the day. The burgers and all the food options are what I would expect from a fast food burger joint. Everything was edible but nothing was memorable. Typical weird textured burger served barely warm. But they now offer fried cheese curds, something which they never offered in their glory days. I ordered them and they were good. Fast-food good but much better then the infamous cheese-less McD's mozz sticks. But let's revisit nostalgia. I went for the Dilly Bars and Buster Bars. They were exactly how I remember them. Dilly Bars are a flying saucer shaped frozen ice cream on a stick dipped in chocolate that gets all crispy hard. The coating to ice cream ratio is perfect. Buster Bars are loaded with nuts, caramel, ice cream and chocolate. So effing good. Also, vanilla soft-serve I've cream topped with hot caramel sauce and chopped salty peanuts? Yes please! Nothing here is gourmet but their sweet treats are simple yet done right. 4 stars for those. The food is typical but I'm a fan of the fried cheese curds. This is a solid spot for treats. read more

We stopped in for Blizzard treats...I the peanut butter cookie dough and my husband the Heath bar. Both were good, but still seemed to be missing something. For light and fluffy ice cream try Kurver Kreme down the road, for seriously great and inexpensive soft serve try Scoops on Albany Shaker, for more expensive, over hyped, and smaller sized version of Scoops quality try Guptill's on RT 9. It feels like it's been forever since there's been a dairy Queen up in this area. But now we have one right on Central avenue. when my wife and I went in and tried it several different times and we enjoyed the food it was the good food. I will say that the prices are a little high and that is for the amount of food that they give you but it is still decent for this area looking at the price of the different eateries that are around this area it seems to be in the same ballpark. They sell Frozen ice cream cakes as well and they are right there ready to buy and they have an outdoor section where you can go outside and sit down and eat if you would like or there's an inside section where you can have a area to sit down and eat as well. also when you order it will give you a number you go when you sit down at your table and you put the number on your table you get your drinks and then you will go back to your table and sit down and wait and they will bring your food to you you do not go up and get your food oh, I think that is a very cool way I'm doing business for your customer I enjoy that part of the service. (Cashiers name was Tanya G.) Let's start off by saying the restaurant was not too busy and drive through was relatively clear. We waited 25 minutes for a carry out order as did people behind us too. The cashier who was also running food to tables and packaging to go orders was not once wearing gloves. She would touch the computer to input orders, handle cash and coins, and then handle food. She also would use a napkin to handle to go food then place the napkin, which was contaminated by the germs from money and the cash register, into the bag right on top of the food! This is a major health code violation and is downright disgusting. Upon speaking to someone they said she "was new and it won't happen again". The food that we waited 25 minutes for was made wrong, cold, and was downright nasty. The fries tasted like they were from the bottom of the container and were cold and hard. What a waste of $20.
