I have no other way to describe him other than tall, black male wearing a headset who apparently doesn't speak, which is weird for customer service. When I arrived, a girl saw me and promised to be right with me--great. Two minutes later, this guy approaches the counter, stops in front of me, doesn't say anything and holds a straight face waiting for me to say something to him. No hello, no offer to order, nothing. I'm extremely disappointed with the service at Dairy Queen at this location in Escondido. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I've experienced mistakes and poor service here, especially with the drive-thru. Tonight's experience was another example of how poorly this location is being managed. I placed an order through the DQ app at 7:50 PM, and the app said my order would be ready at 8:04 PM. I arrived at approximately 8:03 PM, only to find that the front door was locked. An employee told me they were only handling drive-thru orders. I waited outside for about four minutes before they finally let me inside. Once inside, I was told my order wasn't ready. At 8:18 PM, I checked on it again, and the employee told me that the system had apparently cancelled my order. Because of that, I was told I would have to wait until approximately 8:23 PM for my food. What made the situation even more frustrating was that while I was waiting, two employees were arguing with each other about who was supposed to be handling DoorDash orders versus regular orders. As a customer standing there waiting for an order that was already supposed to be ready, watching employees argue about basic responsibilities was incredibly unprofessional. I understand that restaurants can get busy and that mistakes happen, but this seems to be a recurring problem at this DQ. Between incorrect orders, drive-thru mistakes, long waits, poor communication, and tonight's experience, the level of service has really gone downhill. I used to have a much better impression of DQ, but this location needs to seriously improve its customer service, communication, and management. Customers shouldn't have to chase down their orders, wait around while employees argue, or be told that an order placed through the company's own app was cancelled after they've already arrived. Wanted to give it 3 stars just because I love DQ BUT this is the very first time I ever got a blizzard and they did not flip it upside down. (part of the experience why kids love going to DQ is because they get entertained when they flip the blizzard). Both my blizzard cups had ice cream and chocolate residue on the outside of the cups, it was handed to me all sticky, usually they wipe it down before handing it to you but not this time. :( I noticed it's a bunch of younger people working which I applaud for hiring young people that want to work but whoever the manager is, at least train them properly. read more

The food is good. But if you want good service, do NOT use the mobile order pickup. It would be faster and you'd get acknowledged by doing regular or drive thru orders. We waited for 1/2 an hour for our pickup orders and they were placed 10 minutes before we arrived. They were busy and so we waited patiently for our turn to get service at the mobile order pickup area. The front workers didn't acknowledge our presence the whole time. Everyone who ordered in person got serviced right away and friendly faces. One kitchen worker saw us and said our order was being worked on, then we waited another 25 minutes.
