This location is conveniently close to the U of O and it's open late, but those are the only good things about it. Few staff members are friendly and welcoming, it seems like they all hate their jobs and don't even try to hide that from the customers. They don't smile, and generally just seem annoyed. I used to love Dairy Queen when I was a kid, the ice cream used to be a lot creamier, but now it just tastes watery, and it melts in seconds. The employees do not follow health codes (I found hair in my food a few times, they would put the spoon in the ice cream with their bare hands and then put the lid on over the spoon, which sometimes pushed the spoon all the way into the ice cream) and the only thing edible there now are the fries. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! The service was seriously lagging despite the fact that the store was slow. Every available table was dirty, since they had blocked off the "clean" part of the restaurant. I tried to ask an employee three times for a rag to clean the table, but was ignored. Finally I was acknowledged by a different employee because I was close to a yelling level. He informed me that it's against health code violations to let me clean the table myself. So he went to our table and wiped the loose crumbs off, but left the greasy/sticky spots on the table. We waited ten minutes for our food. The French fries were old and droopy. I went to inspect my grilled chicken sandwich, as I do anytime I go out to eat, only to find that it was covered with mold. I had to keep myself from vomiting and took the food up to the counter. The employees acted mad that I simply asked for my money back. I didn't get mad at them or say anything rude, yet I was the one in the wrong. Finally a manager came out and got my money back to me. Worst decision to eat here... By far the worst Dairy Queen I've ever been to, and that's saying something considering my family owns multiple DQ franchises in Oregon. Time and time again, I go through the drive thru and ask for an Oreo blizzard with extra Oreo. Every single time I get home and look at my blizzard, there is MAYBE a scoop of Oreo in there (even though I just paid extra for more) after about the 6th time of it happening I'm just giving up on this campus DQ. Not to mention almost all of their employees have no customer service skills. Since when can you not do two separate orders when going through the drive thru? After growing up and working at one of my family's DQs, I know the quality to expect from Dairy Queen, and unfortunately this DQ doesn't have it. My wife and I drove through the drive-through last night and ordered two medium sized dishes of just ice cream. When we got to the drive up window the kid opened the sliding door and handed us to medium ice cream cones. When I said: "oh those are supposed to be dishes of ice cream" the kid looked at me, got all snarly, said in a snippy tone "Oh you mean you wanted to order Sunday's?" I said: "No, two dishes of ice cream." The rude kid slammed the window and came back a few minutes later with two dishes with a tiny bit of ice cream in them. Far less than what was on the cones. I even said: "That's a medium?" He said in his rude voice: "Yes and shut the window." We have been stopping at the DQ for a long time but not anymore. With Oregon's new minimum wage law employers need to be much more careful in hiring and training employees. read more

Y'all want an insider's opinion? I've worked here for two years, and let me tell you - at this point, all your complaints should be directed at the owners. Someone said the employees weren't trained? They're right. The owners son "Can't be bothered" because we go through employees so fast. The restaurant's dirty? You bet it is. We're constantly understaffed in an attempt to save them money and avoid Oregon labor laws based on employee count, so it's a miracle we can stay afloat on the daily. The only thing that gets me through my day here is the kind regulars I see throughout the week. If you're thinking of coming here, please do; but only so you can document your experience and report it directly to corporate. I have never written a bad review for anything, but this experience left such a bad taste in my mouth. My boyfriend and I stopped in for some burgers. We were next to each other in line. He orders a burger and an orange juilus. Cool, my turn. Just as I'm about to order the oder taker walks away, and doesn't come back. There is noone else in line at this point. I wait politely, as people slowly pile up behind me. Finally, she comes back and takes my order. I order a plain cheeseburger and fries. I'm annoyed but try to be nice about it (i work in the service industry too, so I try to be understanding). We've know been inside for 15 minutes with no food. My boyfriend finally gets his order and starts eating as we both expected my plain cheeseburger and fries would be made in no time. Apparently a plain cheeseburger is more difficult to make than multiple flurries, onion rings, two chicken wraps, and two other burgers though, because thats what people after me ordered and got before I ever got my order. At this point my boyfriend is finished eating, so I ask for a refund. The first thing the worker says is "but your order is done." I point of that that is fine and dandy but now my boyfriend is done eating and so getting my stuff now is pointless." She leaves and some other worker has to come open the till. I say "sorry about that" and hold out my hand for the cash as she's grabbing it. But instead of putting the money in my hand, she throws it down on the counter and walks away without a word. After waiting in the drive through for 35 minutes I finally got my order, a chicken sandwhich. When I returned home I started eating it and after several bites I looked down and realized that the chicken was completely raw. As in not cooked whatsoever except on the very outer parts. I called and they said they could give me a refund if I came back the next day. I went back into the store and told them the situation and an incredibly snarky teenage girl told me that she didn't want to look at the picture I had of it and that her manager was not around and he was a "total asshole anyways" and wouldn't be able to do anything for me. If I could give this DQ 0 stars, I would. I have been here on multiple occasions as I am a UO student and it is convenient, however I vowed never to go again after my most recent experience. I went through the drive-thru with the aim to order a blizzard. I was told that they had no more ingredients to make the blizzard I wanted. First of all, what kind of restaurant runs out of every ingredient for probably their most popular item? Secondly, I was only behind one other car, but it took them about 30 minutes to serve them. When I finally got to my window, I had turned off my engine so I wouldn't waste anymore gas idling. It took about another 10 or 15 minutes to get my order. The food is nearly always either flat-out cold or extremely hot, and just low-quality in general. One time, I ordered a large strawberry sundae and they gave me a small, but charged me for a large. By the time I realized, I didn't want to have to sit through the drive-thru for another 30 minutes just to get a couple bucks back. It's too bad it doesn't go out of business so that a decent place can take up this corner. It's probably better off being a parking lot, honestly. Overall, this DQ is several notches below mediocre. BAD SERVICE, DON'T EAT HERE!!! I am utterly astounded by the negligence of this establishment. I didn't even order food, and yet I was treated so poorly by the staff. Being an advocate for the upkeeping of orphanages around the world, I went to this specific DQ one day to ask if I could put out a donation jar and an informative flyer. Receiving an enthusiastic yes from a young staff member, I thanked them and went home to create a personalized donation jar for the restaurant. I came in the next day to the same staff (minus the girl who approved my proposition) only to be kept waiting FIFTEEN MINUTES by the staff and manager. The cashier told me that he would be out to see me shortly, alerting him of my presence, but instead he took 15 minutes fully ignoring me. Finally, when I returned to the counter irate, he came out to see me. (Yeah, I had to REMIND them I was still there). He then bluntly, rudely and unapologetically refused to display my jar, breaking the promise I was made earlier by the uninformed worker. Really, dude? You couldn't have just come out and told me that simple sentence IN THE FIRST PLACE and not keep me waiting 15 minutes? I can think of so many ways that could have been handled better. It was so extremely rude. Not only to big corporations not care about the littler charities to support, but they hire asshole managers who barely speak English and uninformed, uninterested employees.
