Talk about a bizarre situation. I went and ordered 3 Blizzards, I received 2 of the wrong blizzards. I believe the girl who helped me was neurodivergent which I completely can sympathize with but she didn't understand the order was incorrect and asked me to come inside. The problem is that there is no parking and it was graduation week which made it impossible. I called the manager who argued with me that they WERE correct. LMAO! Icecream was fine, but one of the workers was wearing a tanktop (not uniform shirt) with their hair down over their face and had their shoulder/bicep wrapped in plastic wrap either covering a fresh tattoo or an open wound??? Took another ten minutes for anyone to talk to me through the intercom, and then finally another five for them to come cash me out and give me my food. Ordered a turtle pecan cluster blizzard with extra chocolate dip. Kid made it after using cash register, not washing hands, or putting on gloves. He put too much ice cream on top and it was an inch above the cup so he used his dirty hands to pull that extra off the top. I had just watched him wipe extra dip sauce off outside of cup on his dirty apron. I asked for the manager. He reluctantly remade it. I used to love this DQ but the ignorance, incompetence, and outright hostility of the employees has made it one of the worst DQs in the country -- and I say this having just visited a few. I pulled up to the drive thru and asked if I could have a Reese's blizzard with fudge. The guy on the other end scoffed at me and said it would be extra. Doesn't tell me how much. I ask how much. He says fifty cents. Ok fine, that's reasonable. So I tell him that's fine. I add another thing to my order and when it's done he laughs at me again like I'm the biggest idiot in the world even though I'm not the one working at a DQ spitting distance from a university but whatever, unearned derision and resentment are a young person's birthright. I pay for the blizzards and go to campus to eat said ice cream only to find that this vengeful little blizzard fascist has put a small dollop of fudge on the very top and then not touched the rest of it, so I paid his DQ tax and got nothing for it. I get that these are not jobs most young people take super seriously but with a community of thirty thousand young people nearby it seems like some basic standards could be set. Like, don't mock your customers to their faces and then intentionally mess up their orders. When the DQs in West Virginia are outclassing you you know you're doing a bad job. The servers were extremely rude. I work in The restaurant industry and I am the last person to ever complain knowing how hard it is to work anywhere in fast food. I asked for my burger with extra cheese and then they got mad at me for having to go get the extra cheese even though it was in the ticket and they charged me for it. I was so patient with them because you never know who is having a bad day. However I was mid conversation with the servers and they both just walked away from me. We got our food and it was cold and stale and tasted like cardboard. I have a Dairy Queen in my hometown and we absolutely love it. Just the fact that I'm taking the time out of my day to leave a review says a lot about this establishment. They are also out of hand sanditizer. I wouldn't feed my dog here. This was my first time going to a dairy queen and I had heard good things in California since that's where I'm from but the service here was horrible. My sister and I went and I have never been there so there were these things called cheese balls or something like that and I asked the worker what they were and she said "I don't know! This location is conveniently close to the U of O and it's open late, but those are the only good things about it. Few staff members are friendly and welcoming, it seems like they all hate their jobs and don't even try to hide that from the customers. They don't smile, and generally just seem annoyed. I used to love Dairy Queen when I was a kid, the ice cream used to be a lot creamier, but now it just tastes watery, and it melts in seconds. The employees do not follow health codes (I found hair in my food a few times, they would put the spoon in the ice cream with their bare hands and then put the lid on over the spoon, which sometimes pushed the spoon all the way into the ice cream) and the only thing edible there now are the fries. read more
