We always love going to a DQ while on vacation sometime for the meals, but always for the ice cream treats. This location in Lexington continued with the great tradition. My only thought is if someone thinks the place is great and the best they ever had why give DQ only 3 or 4 stars in your review, just doesn't make any sense. On this occasion my wife and I only had ice cream treats. I had the Peanut Buster Parfait and she had the Banana Split. Both items were great and the price was reasonable. Waited in the drive-through for 20 minutes today. We tried to get out of line but once you're in you're stuck. I didn't complain at all when the man came to the window. He offered no apology, no greeting, no thank you for your business, no have a nice day, and did not turn the blizzard upside down like they do it literally every other Dairy Queen. Minor infraction, of course, but the kids always get a kick out of that. Only thing he said was the dollar amount and I couldn't understand that because of his accent. We won't be back. The employees were very pleasant and welcoming but I could not understand why the tables were dirty and nobody behind the counter was trying to correct that. I had a vanilla milkshake and sat in the establishment after wiping my own table and seat down just to observe. I'm not sure how to put this. I took my family here last night and got two tender baskets, a #1 and two extra gravies with some kind of cheese curls. The person told me $50 and some change. We stopped by to grab some blizzards.... in addition, we got Chicken Strip Baskets to go.... we place the order around 10:15pm and we left at 10:55pm, yes it took 40 minutes to get our food. Why you might ask? Well, the empty school bus should been our first clue and the 2nd clue was when we walked in, all the students either waiting to place an order or waiting for their food. The staff behind the counter seemed lost, yet they were having fun... it seemed they knew the students, so they were more focused on chatting then processing the orders. We should have just walked out when we saw that amount of students, but our stomach won over us on this day.... while I don't think I'll be visiting VMI again, but if I were to come back, I'm going to stop by here in hopes that their operations improved!!!! read more

this was the absolutely grossest DQ we've EVER been to in 20 yrs! the kid at the drive thru window had smeared ice cream all over the drive up window and register screen. Employees were clearly not trained at all or at least very little, they did all three of our orders wrong and did not know how to work the cash register. The only reason this place is still in business is because of the location that it is in. First of all they screw up the order of food that the people in front of us and they can do nothing but apologize. The blizzards made could not even be flipped without the ice cream falling out which is DQs thing. They put the wrong ice cream and toppings into the blizzards and the dip that they made was not done correctly at all. Four customers in line, four employees in the back chatting. When I finally got served, the employee gave me the wrong order. I told the man waiting on me that this was not what I ordered. He rolled his eyes and hastily turned around to fix it. He would not look at me when he gave me back what I had originally ordered. I think he was mad at me. For a Dairy Queen, this place was good. My service was good and my food was made fresh for me, rather than stuff sitting under a heat lamp. The only downside was I had to repeatedly explain to someone that I only wanted American cheese on my burger, not Swiss. Even after they said okay, it still came out wrong.
