Dairy Queen was so much more of a treat when it wasn't on Long Island and you had to drive an hour or so to Connecticut or Jersey to get your Blizzard fix. This was the first DQ to come to Long Island. I remember waiting on a looooong line to get a chocolate Cherry dipped cone. While I'm waiting, I'm thinking to myself, why Massapequa? Hate that this is the local DQ. Their ice cream machine must be broken. I constantly get the chocolate extreme blizzard with chocolate ice cream and rainbow sprinkles everytime. The machine does not mix it all the way to the bottom, and there is always some small particles in it that are not in the blizzard at any other location. After a very trying & depressing day of family tragedy, my husband suggested we go to the only Dairy Queen now open on Long Island and that also has a Chill & Grill. I had fond memories of going to Chill & Grill locations in Atlanta and Connecticut so the idea appealed to me. What did not appeal to me was the specter of long lines. After a huge undertaking, we found this location. The address listed is not 100% accurate when you put it into Google maps. Look on the left hand side of the road very carefully since it's kind of hidden in plain sight. The owner of this location was very smart in having a hidden side parking lot in the back, where we opted to park since there was no other space available at 1 something on a weekday afternoon. When we went in, there was indeed a very long line. At first, it scared us & we were already annoyed with the parking situation but it actually moved fairly well and we got our order in after 15 minutes. The $5 lunch is definitely worth the money since that food tasted wonderfully that day. Our dessert also came out before our meal. I'd love to go again but really wish there was a Chill & Grill in NYC off a subway line so I could actually get there more often. For now, it's just going to have to be a special treat. read more

a much anticipated visit to The one and only new Long Island Dairy Queen took place for my son and I last evening 6/20/13 I am adding the date because the ways of the Queen might change. So we come down Sunrise Highway (9:45 pm)with deep excitement. Only to be met with a line of cars about 1/8 mile long. So ok I park my car in the lot next door. No chance of actually getting in the Queens lots because the drive way allows for one car going in as in there was no way to "cut" the line and get in the lot which actually had open spaces. (sorrY Renee DG is now closed except for the drive through) I need to turn around which meant going through the mall parking lot because the 3 lefts = no u turns. by the time I made the turn around there was an accident at the corner by the Queen so to make my long story Shorter I am going to cut to the chase of the Queen the accident got rid of a bunch of cars so we got on the line which moved painfully slow the subjects be enjoying their chats with the driveup Queen Finally it is our turn to talk to the magical Queen in her menu box we ordered a turtle blizzard a smores blizzard grilled cheese fries and a chicken basket inching along slowly till we get to the Queen's window ah ha!!! finally WAIT WAIT they are handing me two melting blizzards with NO COVER ...NO COVER? at a drive through fast food joint? So today my mother and I went to get some ice cream and we walked in and there was one man waiting for his ice cream. We ordered and waited 20 minutes for a blizzard and a dipped ice cream cone. One young guy in the back wasn't even wearing his mask covering his nose. The cone wasn't fully covered in the chocolate dip, instead the dip was all over the cone and the ice cream was oozing out all of the holes that were present. The blizzard was all melted and barely any marshmallow in the middle like it says on the advertisement. A lack of napkins was also present . Get a blizzard but make sure if you want vanilla that whatever your ordering doesn't have fudge mixed in i.e. Cookie dough. I hate when they add the fudge. I'm normally pretty lenient on things because long ago I've worked in fast food and I understand it can be hectic, but this needs to be said. EVERY SINGLE TIME my girlfriend and I come here they ALWAYS GET OUR ORDER WRONG! Every time we come here the line is long and slow moving. When we get to the speaker, the workers are too busy goofing around, playing and chit chatting to even hear our order. My girlfriend and I speak like newscasters yet they consistently mess up our orders. Even worse? our orders aren't anything fancy or custom. it's basic "I'd like a number 4 and a 6$ meal deal" and they never get the order right.
