Ordered food through door dash; however, an order of fries was missing. had to call the restaurant 8 times before they picked up the phone. person on other line stated " I wasn't going to answer your call, but you kept calling. I am short staffed and very busy". Told the person that I was missing the fries and asked for a refund; however, he stated "I don't have time to go to my office and issue the refund right now" and disconnected the call. I would give this restaurant a -5 star rating if it would let me. this was VERY poor customer service! read more

I decided to stop in and pick up an ice cream cake for my son's birthday. I chose one from their freezer and as I was taking it out a young woman asked "Would you like me to put a message on it?" I told her yes, happy birthday and she immediately pulled out several colors. "Would you like the same blue as in the trim?" Yes, I would. As she started on the lettering (and doing a beautiful job) a second young lady asked me if I'd like to ring it up. I did. As I was signing the receipt and the decorator was finishing up, a third young lady asked me if I would like it put into a bag for easier carrying. Yes please! All three employees anticipated my needs and were very helpful. And the cake was both beautiful and delicious! read more

Gravitation is a force manifested by acceleration toward each other of two free material particles or bodies or of radiant-energy quanta, which is why I cannot definitively explain how gravity works or how zippers work for that matter, however I can definitely tell you that sometimes in the middle of December it's 10°f outside one day and 50°f the next day, because of climate change, maybe, or just because the weather in a mountain valley is volatile. Either way, when I go to Dairy Queen I don't really care whether or not my DQ blizzard can defy gravity. When I get ice cream I'm not trying to become a participant in a cirque du soleil inspired experience. I simply want candy and ice cream blended into a paper cup and handed to me like it would be for any other food related transaction, because Im just trying to satisfy my sugar craving, while I'm walking home, because my caffeine high is wearing off, which is causing my brain to lose focus on the fact that because of climate change Scientists are working on efforts to clone 200 wooly mammoths in an attempt to save the melting permafrost. Then again, since I ordered a Hawaiian blizzard with extra toppings and one piece of pineapple fell onto the counter I qualified for a free blizzard, so who has time to worry about melting permafrost or wondering how gravity even works, because I'm not that good at multitasking and right now I have two blizzards to carry home. There are two ways to enter the drive-through single-file line which is always a complete disaster. At one point they blocked off the side entrance and it was so much better! People are practically getting in fights honking at each other and yelling at each other, because there's two ways to get into a single file line. Such a mess. On top of that, the prices have gone up and are not family friendly. I bought a cone with sprinkles and it was almost 5 dollars. Who knew sprinkles alone were $.79? That seems rather ridiculous to me as well because they buy them in mass so that's awfully expensive. To me their food is just OK. The blizzards are always good. The prices are not on the lobby freezer so if you're going to buy a bag of dilly bars or buster bars, you can't find prices anywhere. I didn't see them on the menu either. Last time I went, they didn't have anything in that freezer to take and go other than dilly bars and cupcakes. Sticky floors. One of the worst dairy queens I've been to. read more

Went thru last night for the $.85 blizzard special. Discovered that at 6 pm, the dining area was closed and the doors to the bldg were locked, even though the drivethru was lined up with over a dozen cars. No one would answer the phone. The guy at the drivethru said they had an "emergency" and had to shut down the dining area in the store bc they were short staffed! It was a shame to see people driving into the place, park, walk over to the door, only to find it locked and have to go back to their car and leave! the manager there needs to be FIRED! if you dont have the staff, then raise your hourly wage. at this rate this restaurant will be out of business by the end of summer, and i wonder if the owner even knows this is happening?? read more

Absolutely horrible service. There was only 1 person ahead of me in line when I went to place my order and the place was half empty. Waited over 20 minutes before I had to go to the counter and complain just to get my food. They were very rude when I asked them to change it to a to go order seeing as I wasted my entire lunch break waiting for my food. Would not recommend this place AT ALL. I visited twice this week and the drive through wait is unreasonably long. When I got the food the fries were cold! The ice tea drink I ordered turned out to be water! Yes, I opened and checked! This location is usually clean. The service for the most part is friendly and moderately fast in the dining room. Going through the drive-thru can sometimes take 10-15 minutes, so I would recommend going in if there's a couple of cars waiting. read more

My one and only visit to this location was ugly. The service was poor. Clearly the kids working there are getting no training or guidance. They wanted to help but were ill equipped to. The manager spent more time talking nonsense with the older staff hidden in the kitchen than the business. The food was dull and poorly made. I was offered other people's orders as there was general confusion all around. All of this on a slow day. The store always reflects its manager. This manager needs let go. read more

I've been coming to this Dairy Queen regularly for a few years and it's about time I write a review. During the summer, I'm here a few times a month and in the winter season, probably just once a month. I really like the diversity in the staff that work there. It's seems like they hire a good mix of people and are accepting of people with offbeat lifestyles. This adds character to the staff (which are always friendly). I like that they bring the food to your table and will even come around once in a while to pick up your garbage. The restaurant is always clean, and they seem to wipe the tables regularly. There's ample parking and the drive through is usually pretty quick although I've seen it backed up. read more

I called to find out his name is Rodney, who is also the Manager. We need to clone Rodney! Seriously! He had such personality, got the order correct without problems with the drive through speaker . . . AND . . . get this, he suggested the chocolate ice cream to make the chocolate extreme Blizzards. This is genius, we were so tired of ordering Blizzards only to find a large amount of plain, white ice cream on the bottom with very few of the goodies they add to make it a Blizzard. I love Dairy Queen's ice cream but really disappointed with last visit. I ordered a peanut butter sundae, strawberry milkshake, and mini blizzard--which I did not think was a complicated order. The first part of the order came out quickly but there was a mix up and orders got all switched around as the employees argued with each other trying to figure it out I watched my ice cream melting there on the counter. The manager finally came over and asked what I was still waiting on and she had them make it right there so I could leave. The gentleman in front of me also had his order screwed up. This Dairy Queen is the worst Dairy Queen I've ever been to as far as ice cream is concerned. The blizzards are never blended thoroughly so you end up with all of the mix ins on top and a few inches of plain vanilla ice cream at the bottom. The milkshakes are awful compared to all other Dairy Queens I have been to. Being in State College with so many other awesome options for ice cream, this Dairy Queen is last on my list of places to eat at. read more

I was driving back from lunch on the way to my office and got a sudden urge for an ice cream cone. Since I was only a block away, I pulled in to the Dairy Queen. I considered parking my car and going inside, as I had often seen very long lines in the drive-through lane. However, being that there was only one car there, I pulled into the drive-through. I placed my order and pulled forward, and another car pulled in behind me in line. The car ahead of me pulled up to the window and, after a few minutes, the driver paid for his food and received part of his order. Then he waited... and waited.... I finally shut off my engine , realizing that the drive-through lane allowed no possibility of exit other than through the single lane which was currently occupied by the car in front of me. I sat there stuck in line for a total of eighteen minutes before the window opened and he was handed the last of his food. Needless to say, I was late for work, and received no apology from the young lady working the drive-up window (no thank-you, either). There is no pull-off available for customers awaiting a delayed order, either. I plan to avoid this restaurant in the future, especially if I am on a time schedule. read more
