The staff are always so friendly & professional. I love going there. The ice cream, cones are always fresh. LOVE this Dairy Queen. My husband and I are creatures of habit; we order the same thing every time (Banana Split and Swirl with Rainbow Sprinkles). They make an impressive Banana Split - my husband requests they go heavy on the pineapple and whipped cream and they do not disappoint! My kryptonite is Rainbow Sprinkles; when I ask for the Swirl to be covered, they COVER it. The service is absolutely amazing! Those girls are seriously incredible considering this Dairy Queen is consistently packed with people. I have grown up eating ice cream here. It's not exactly my favorite but it's definitely a pretty popular spot for the rest of the people living in Wallingford. There's not much of a seating area and the parking is terrrrrible. The place is meant for a quick stop in and out but most people like to stay in their cars or eat on the pavement in front of the place. I've got to say, the place is unique looking but that's all it's got for it. The ice cream prices are average if anything a little pricey for what they offer and their ice cream is generally subpar because they're a part of Dairy Queen's chain. I say it like that because this Dairy Queen more of belongs to Wallingford than it does to the chain itself. (Mainly because they don't even follow the same protocols as the chain.) So it's hard to rate the place - their ice cream isn't as thick as other DQ chains (they disclose that they don't participate in the thick Blizzards that other DQ's have) but they're also not as creamy, sweet, and unique as nearby local shops. Overall, it's only worth a stop by if it isn't busy. If you're looking for local ice cream shops, I would suggest looking elsewhere though. read more

Something is changed at the Wallingford Dairy Queen. Stopped by tonight around 8 PM on Sunday. They couldn't serve chocolate, they had no dilly bars, and no brownies. These were the items we tried to order. While we ate at the picnic table, many customers were being told what they were out of. Everything tasted fine... I ordered an ice cream cake for a birthday party and they screwed it up. I asked for GREEN frosting and they gave me blue. Who I ordered the cake for HATES blue. They had my phone number but since they are retarded they did not bother to give me a phone call and ask which frosting I would like instead since they did not have green. When I picked up the cake, the lady did not even offer to fix it and change it. Screw them. I hope they see this review to know what to do better in the future. 6/21/18 This Dairy Queen has been on the corner of South Colony Road and Ward Street for over 55 years, occupying this same little building. It's practically an icon in Wallingford. They've been serving up ice cream, floats, and assorted other frozen treats, and now a hot dog, if that's what you're craving, for all those 55+ years. I've been enjoying those assorted frozen treats since at least 1964. It brought back fond memories today, of my youth and early adulthood when I came here most every day in the summer of 1970, after working construction nearby in the hot summer sun, and ordering a nice big Mister Misty to refresh me. The young man who almost invariably took my order would say, "fooorty fiiiiive!", meaning 45 cents, in a sing song way as he put the drink on the service counter. Very memorable! And yes, that's how much a large Mister Misty cost in the summer of 1970. It still had that refreshing effect on me today as I sipped my strawberry-kiwi Mister Misty through a straw as I drove home. Hubby loves soft-serve ice cream, so he enjoys that we live walking distance from this location. Walk-up window style location on a busy corner--parking lot is tiny! Love getting a hot fudge sundae, or even a simple dipped cone. The servers do the best they can but the lines can get long, especially in the summer. Open all year round! read more

I had the best blizzard of my life at this Dairy Queen. The employee did a fantastic job at blending it and it had plenty of toppings in it. The waffle bowl I bought was stale so I do not recommend getting your blizzard in one. The chips ahoy blizzard is a must try while they still have it. read more

I said yes but I have changed my mind. I will call another Dairy Queen who actually has time to take my order when I call. I give up!!!!!! Every time I go here, they're closed. They NEVER open on time and they don't hire responsible bosses or people to work here. They just don't care!!! for a chain store company the standards are low. $5.20 for a blizzard that was not even close to what was pictured. Most DQ the blizzard is to the point of overflowing and so stiff the spoon can be held upside down without loosing a drop. Not at the Wallingford DQ; cup was not even 3/4 full and the soft serve ice cream was very soft. So disappointing! read more

I've been coming to this Dairy Queen my whole life and I've never been disappointed. The service is always great, the workers are very polite and efficient and do their jobs well. The only negative is that it's on a sort of busy corner and parking is limited, but those are things that can't really be helped so I overlook it. I called the Wallingford DQ at 8:30 pm this evening and asked what time do they close and the woman answering the phone stated 9:30 pm. I drove there and went to the counter just as a customer walked away after being waited on. The time was 9:09 pm. the woman behind the counter looked at me and turned away. I remained at the counter and looked and again she noticed me and turned away. she wasn't wearing a mask or gloves so I thought she was going to put them on then wait on me. I continued waiting and at 9:14 a man comes to the window not wearing a mask and states were closed. I said to him I've been standing here for 5 minutes. the woman who ignored me twice said we ran out of things so we closed early, I said to both of them you just waited on the customer before me and I heard the man say to the woman you shouldn't have said we are open to 9:30 pm. they didn't know if I wanted an item from the ice cream making machine or something already frozen. I told both of them ill never come here again its disrespectful and rude. the only reason they got one star is because zero stars wasn't an option. the mustached man I'm assuming is the manager or owner and the woman has a pony tail. I've been to this DQ just last week but after the manner in which I was treated tonight ill drive to another town before giving them any more business. this behavior especially while customers support businesses during this time of uncertainty indicates to me they don't value customers. read more

We love this location as it is close to where we live. The ice cream tastes pretty consistent with other DQ locations, however the consistency of the ice cream seems to be off the mark. I would never dare to get a cone from here because the ice cream melts so quickly that it would be a total mess. Normally I get a blizzard, and by the time I walk it to the car it is already mostly melted on the top-- not the DQ I am used to. I believe they are in control of how much air gets into their soft serve, and this ice cream is particularly "airy". read more

This is the third time I went to the store and the soft serve machine was not working properly. I had to wait for the employees to fix It while I had another ice cream melting in my hands.
