My favorite store ever, well-stocked and clean. However, I was shocked by the customer service of an employee named Alison. There was a line outside the door to get in, and she was jumping between the cash register and monitoring customers coming in and out of the store. She was possibly overwhelmed, but that doesn't excuse being exceedingly rude to customers. Since she was on the register, Alison kept missing when people would leave, so when people tried coming in to replace those who left (2 people coming in for every 2 that left, etc.) she would literally yell at them to get back in line. It was very bizarre, to the point where a woman at her register asked for her name (that's how I got it). Simple good customer service at this location would take it from a terrible experience to the best! Everyone else is sweet and helpful. read more

I came here Wednesday afternoon and it was pretty busy. I had a pleasant shopping experience until I was in line to pay. I was absolutely disgusted and in shock over one of the cashiers that took off her mask to sneeze into the air. The line was long so I know I'm not the only one that saw this. It looked like the other cashier was shocked as well. I hope management isn't tolerating this behavior. Customer safety should be held to a higher standard. read more

My DH told me last week that Daiso Japan was coming when he read it in the Chino Hills Champions. I didn't know it was here already. When I went to Costco last Tuesday I noticed it was open. Came by with my kids tonight and it was very bright and shiny. My daughter said it's hard to not be in a good mood when you come here :P I got a few hair clips for $1.50. They are really cute and actually hold well. I had bought one to try @ the Gardena Daiso and wanted to come back to get more ever since. I got 25 square foot foil for $1.00, some glow sticks for $1.50 and a mirror for $3.00. My daughter got a belt, a headband, a pink brush, journals, paperboard, ruler, drawing sketch book, canvas board, mini chocolate silicone mold, and a wooden proportion model for sketching. Most items are $1.50 but some are $3 or $4. I've been to the Gardena Daiso and gotten a cute soap dispenser, cloth napkins, baby booties, Halloween gift bags, cellophane gift bags, and craft paper muffin cups that are really pricey @ Sur La Table. This location is a smaller one but has some cool junk and some random items. For example, they carry tempura blotting paper. if you don't make tempura, you can use it for homemade french fries ;P read more

Daiso Japan banzai!! The newest Asian trend sweeping across SoCal with Daiso's popping up where ever there's a sizable Asian American community.. Didn't think Chino Hills would come up though so it was a nice surprise when this location right next to 99 Ranch off Chino Ave opened up last week. I came for all the Hi Chew! My favorite! Theres plenty of other Japanese candies and snacks all of which are a buck fiddy.. There were a couple items priced more than $1.50 but everything seemed legit and priced at a bargain. Japanese goods always seem worth it too. Lots of novelty stuff like wigs, masks etc.. Didn't really look around for anything else because I was in a hurry but I'll definitely be back for some Christmas stocking stuffers.. Negatives about Daiso.. No exchanges or refunds allowed that's a biggie, long check out lines like the 99 Cent store.. $10 minimum to use credit card which they only accept Visa/MC.. AMEX/Discover es no bueno.. I am so glad they opened a Daiso Japan closer to the Chino Valley. Now I am very close to a store that has a huge selection of products made in China for around $1.50. There are so many things in the store that look cool, and they cry out to you to take them home. Many times, however, I get this stuff home and realize I don't need them. Regardless, it is a fun store and the items they sell have purpose...just like other discount stores but much more fun! read more

You gotta love a trip to Daiso! Everything in the store is $1.50 unless priced otherwise. Even if it isn't one of the $1.50 items, you're still going to find a bargain. Of course, there are dozens of items whose packages you can't read because it's in Japanese, but there's usually a picture or drawing on it to help you discern its contents. Their selection is eclectic to say the least. Odds are you will find something that interests you. Whether it be unique, but useful tools for gardening or cleaning around the house, or any of the reasonably-priced snacks and beverages, there is something for everyone. Even their seasonal section has real bargains. I've seen people walk out with completely decorated 3' Christmas trees for under $10.00! One of the better finds that was brought to my attention were the womens' eyebrow pencils. I know women who have been spending top dollar to get theirs at places like MAC and Sephora, but say that the ones here are just as good and at a fraction of the price. I found an end-of-aisle display with energy-efficient light bulbs that were really cheap. Standard base compact fluorescent bulbs were just $.25 each, and floodlight bulbs just $4.00! Probably my only gripe with this store is that the aisles are pretty tight to try to navigate with the shopping carts because of all the product displays in the aisles. If there's another cart in your aisle, you may just have to go around to the next aisle. read more

Since opening I've been to this locaiton 3 times and each time I've been amazed at the stuff I've been able to find. I can definitely say that my pad is much more organized now because of all the great little plastic bins and organizers i've purchased. The quality of the goods it's much better than what you'd think of getting when paying a buck-fifty. Most of the stuff in here are random houseware, kitchen goods, snacks, bath/makeup/body stuff and knicknacks. Store is clean, staff is friendly. I found everything here, 90% products were $1.50 each, 10% like tea pots, slippers, some bowls were $2-$4. If there's no price tag it's $1.50 each. I used to like this place very much but the quality looked going down. The store was clean and organized. The staff were friendly but without a smile. Still fun shopping here for all kind of things you don't usually see in normal grocery store. I usually buy toothbrushes, slippers, small bowls here. They don't have return policy. This is a Japanese version of a dollar store except everything is $1.50 unless noted otherwise. I have to automatically subtract two stars because they do not have a public bathroom and they do not do exchanges/returns, meaning that if you buy a defective product, there's nothing you or they can do. It's a risk you take for shopping here. Further, the employees here are not that friendly. They also do not have nearly as many items as the Daiso in Japantown in SF. Overall, they have a wide assortment of very cute items at affordable prices. They have seasonal items, such as mini Christmas trees, Santa suits, ornaments, and Christmas decorations. They also sell Apple accessories, makeup, electronics, home goods, kitchenware, toys, school supplies, candy, cookies, drinks, socks, cards, wrapping paper, to name a few categories. I always end up buying a lot of stuff I don't need. The store itself is large, clean, and spacious. I was disappointed by my experience here because I bought a mug and when I got home, I looked closely and found that it was cracked. I also bought an iPhone charger but it doesn't work with a wall plug. There would have been no way to know this before I bought it. I really wish this store did exchanges/returns. If you buy plates and ceramics, make sure to check that there are no cracks or defects before you buy them. The same is true for other items. This can be difficult to check if it's wrapped in plastic and you can't test it out. They have a ton of signs about restrictions. For example, they do not take bills larger than $100. They also do not take credit cards unless your total is over $10 but they do take debit cards regardless of the amount. They also do not take American Express. Like all dollar stores, some items in the store are overpriced and you can find a better deal elsewhere. read more

This Daiso lost all of its Japanese charm... I used to love shopping at the Chino Hills location because it was close by, staff were smiling and friendly, played Japanese music and gave our receipt with two hands (like traditional Asian culture). Now it feels like shopping at CVS, it's disappointing because the Japanese songs stopped and now they're playing really, REALLY cheesy 80s love songs...where can I hear that? At ANY other market & convenience store!! What happened to the music?? While shopping for Japanese goodies, Purple Rain was playing....Weird vibe..... The staff now doesn't even smile at check out. I'm stingy :p If I didn't have a conscience, I would have cart loads full of things. If you don't already know what a Japanese daiso store is, it is basically a store where mostly everything is $1.50. Other items may vary to like $3 more or less. This isn't your average 99 cent store or dollar tree. No. This is a million times better. And the fact that this location is new, bright, and SUPER CLEAN doesn't deserve anything less than 5 stars! I don't mean to bash other stores, but They don't have cheap-looking items like the 99 cent store or sometimes the dollar tree might have. For $1.50, they have quality, quantity and a nice flare to everything they sell: from kitchen to gardening tools, organizers to school items, snacks, beauty supplies, and more. All sales are final and they won't accept any bills over $100. I'm not sure if they take cash only, though I believe that's what the cashier said, but I highly recommend hitting up the bank first just in case. It would be a shame to load up your basket full of goodies only to find that your card or check is no good there. I have visited several locations of this chain store and similarly to 99 cents store, certain locations tend to be a bit more diverse. This store is pleasantly large but i did notice most of their food items have gone up in price to $1.75. I am uncertain if all stores have raised prices or this is the case with this particular location. Regardless, i liked the layout and items stocked. I love this place. When you compare what you can get here vs. a 99 cents/dollar store or even Big Lots the quality is much better. The stock in the best items tends to run out fast but if you are a regular customer you notice that they replenish every couple of weeks unless the item was discontinued and bought by Daiso on clearance. One item I found really useful was the "cooling towels". $14.99 at some places but $1.50 here. Granted the towel is smaller but it works after a workout or run. Also if your office dress code is casual but you sometimes get surprise customer visits (or if you didn't make it he last night ;)), you can get an emergency shirt and tie for just a few bucks! Not the place to go if you want high end Japanese goods (go to Tokyo Central or Marukai in LA instead) but for Japanese snacks and office or household items this is a better alternative to Walmart or the dollar stores. 4 out of 5... read more

Dajao always has cute stuff. This one in particular isn't as big as others but they still have good enough stuff. They always have new stuff too. I am in love with their stationaries and post it's. They do lack a bit in the notebooks sections. Some stores have dotted notebooks this one doesn't have it. I do wish they had more kitchen stuff to choose from though. "WHERE DO I START?" the first thing that'll pop in your head. This store is absolutely amazing. Not only are the prices incredible, but the products are great quality. Although I don't know what I'm reading when looking at labels, you get the general idea of what it is. There selection feels endless. From cooking wear, to gardening supplies, to make up, you name it! My tip would be to start from one side and work your way through every aisle and around the store. Otherwise, you'll find yourself going back to a row you already went to. Start from one corner and go around. LOOK AT EVERYTHING. These Japanese man, they come up with everything! I typically come here to buy cute little things for school or my office. I also like to see what's new in their cosmetics section. They have a great selection of false eyelashes here. The bands are thick and feel a lot like plastic, but it's still workable. The workers I've encountered here are all very welcoming and quick to move. After a 10-day trip to Japan, I've been hyper-critical of anything Japanese here in the U.S. The food isn't as good. The public transportation isn't as efficient. The people aren't as quiet. Thankfully, Daiso here is just as good as Daiso in Japan. These stores are the Japanese equivalent of our 99 Cents Only or Dollar Tree stores. However, instead of everything for a dollar, everything in Daiso is $1.50 and they have a few items that are $2 and up (they mark these with price tags). It's funny how that 50 cents makes such a difference; it seems as if everything at Daiso is of better quality than the typical dollar store. There is no produce section, but they have a lot of Japanese snacks, in addition to all of the kitchen knickknacks, office supplies, and other random goodies. Snacks, office supplies, kitchenware, gardening, and etc. Everythang = 1.50!!! 3. I found the BEST Umeboshi here. I've been to the San Francisco, Rowland Heights and the Irvine location, it's only in Chino Hills. Okay I'll admit, what most 23 year olds do for fun on a Friday night, I don't, I do Daiso. First time i brought my mom here, she was like a kid in a candy store (she's in her 70s btw) first of all we live very far from this location but we happened to come from rancho cucamonga. so anyway, we went through all the aisles, and my mom felt like she wanted to buy everything so we ended up buying in separate orders. i love the piggy bank coins, they are so cute!!! so i purchased 3 of those.. we will definitely coming back for more! but overall, we were practically there for more than 30 min. because my mom was so busy looking at the home products. i also bought alot of snacks. this is the way to go if you're into simple but useful stuff. this store is mostly catered to asians or people who're into cheaper things and kawaii stuff, this is for you. read more

Apparently this store thinks they are the mask police. Even though the state of California and the county say that vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask, this store will kick you out if you choose not to wear one. I had a basket full of items and I was headed to the checkout when I was approached and told that I cannot shop here unless I put their mask on. I really liked this store before but the rude customer service and unconstitutional 'rules' make me not want to come here ever again. I will also tell everyone I know to not go here. This one is next to 99 Ranch so you can do your grocery shopping and cutesy goods shopping all in once place. I love Daiso for all of their discount goodies. Everything is so cute. Came here on opening day (11/23/13). I admit that I was thoroughly impressed with their grand opening. They gave away gift bags for the first 200 customers (customer raffle for a mini ipad, gift cards, keurig) and entertainment (Taiko drum players). Their workers were friendly and kept the crowd orderly. Overall, a decent grand opening experience. For those who have never visit Daiso, it's comparable to a Japanese 99 cent store ($1.50 rather, with some items specifically marked as more). For the price, the items are better quality than the 99 cent store. They sell snacks, home goods, cute japanese office supplies, cosmetics, holiday decorative items; mostly everything you can find at a Marukai but with less grocery items. The store is also cleaner, brighter, and more organized than all discount stores in spite of the hundreds of items they have in each aisle. If you've never gone, I recommend stopping by. They have something for everyone there! It's one of those shopping experiences where you'll spend more time there than you think. read more
