Really not understanding the hype. People comparing this store to Ikea!? Maybe one small kitchen section in Ikea - the one with the bowls and kitchen doo-dads. I'm not even sure comparing $.99 stores is fair. The selection here is minimal at best. It's simply not that big a shop and a lot of their products are just gimmicky swag. On the plus side I would agree their dishes and bowls selection was good. I bought a few new ramen bowls (on tha cheap) with a really excellent contemporary design. This is a great store. This location is a tad smaller but it seems fairly clean and the staff are friendly. I asked if they had a particular item in stock and one of the gentlemen there checked in the back for me and found what I was looking for, while in others I would tend to just get a no. Please don't tell customers that you do not have items in stock without checking. My mom needed notebooks (40 of them) so I brought one to ask. Luz and Dan at the cash register told me they stocked everything in the morning and that they would be getting a delivery on Tuesday. There was a sign about bulk ordering and to ask an associate. I asked them and they told me that they did not have the iPad to order from today. Great. ok. My mom spotted another associate so I went to ask her and she graciously went in the back to check. And yes! behold, there were 3 boxes of 15! She was super helpful, I think her name was Lucinda? Well. Please just check without telling us you don't have anything. I prefer this Daiso location for accessories and anything bath or beauty. There aren't as many home goods stocked as the Little Tokyo location but they always have more hair ties and things so I switch back and forth based on what I'm shopping for. It's always clean, parking is regular mall parking, and sometimes the store gets a bit crowded. There are lots of food options and seating around too so you can spend a good amount of time shopping and relaxing. Highly recommend for accessories and cute makeup related things! Great little store with lots of neat items for a low price. Covid protocols are in full effect so all employees wear their masks and they wiped down their card reader right before I paid. The downside is that there tends to be a line in the afternoon and it can take quite a bit to get in the store, though that's not their fault. This is the cutest little shop with the cutest things ever! Haha! Everything is either $1.50 or a little more, but not to much. I had a set time in here because of an appointment, so I didn't get to really see everything in the back of the store. Probably the most kawaii place on the planet. I stopped in after scouring the internet for a quick Koreatown experience while visiting my friend in LA. The second you walk in the door you are blasted with cuteness. I wasn't expecting to find so much variety here. From Tupperware to mugs to fly swatters you can pretty much find it all here. And for real cheap too! There is also a pretty extensive section of Japanese candies and treats so I was really excited about that. It's in a plaza that has SOME free parking which I didn't think was a thing in LA. Definitely check it out! read more

Daiso is great. I mean, it is a little scary to think of how much plastic stuff floods into the world each day because of its $1.50 easy accessibility. But they do sell some useful stuff. Dasio is usually the first place I go to when I come to California, and I will do the same. Many on the shelves are out of stock at most times. I wish they bring more in their inventory when they know that it will be sold out quickly. I heard about Daiso because everyone talks about it. So my friend and I wanted to check it out. No expectations. Just $1.50 stuff? Damn, don't mind if I do! Daiso is pretty big but the aisles are small as heck, I can't crouch down to get things on the bottom without my ass touching the other side. Daiso has a lot of cool stuff. I didn't know what to expect but I got a couple of stuff from there. It has all the things you need pretty much, but its small... Like most of the things are small here... LOL! Its kinda and worth the 1.50, some other things like wigs are like 6 dollars which is a reasonable price. The items I bought were, Highlighters ( they're pretty good), A phone case (I LIKE IT I WISH THEY HAD IT IN GOLD THOUGH), A phone stand (DECENT), A pencil case (Its a small make up bag but I'm making it for a pencil case), Charcoal pore strips (WORKS WONDERS I TRIED IT OUT OMG YOU CAN SEE ALL THE NASTY GUNK), A charcoal mask (Its like peeling a second face off lol), A heel scrapper (It was whatever). Thats all, everything came out to around 11 ish? which was pretty good. I thought I was gonna spend more. The products are mostly in japanese, so you would have to look above the sign or just look closely and make out of the product. They also accept card after a 10 dollar minium purchase so please have cash if you're buying below 10! :) My cons are pretty much the people who GO to daiso. They are so rude you have no idea. When I need to get through, I like to say excuse me. and THANK YOU after. People have the decency to just push and shove me while I have my little cart, like RUDE! This little boy who kept yapping and yapping kept pushing me. I felt like kicking his head... But i couldn't because his sisters were there and I didn't want to kick them either.... I love this place! Everything is cuter than a unicorn fart, and only 1.50? Get right out of koreatown pal. Anyways, typical Daiso store, usually crowded and the aisles are super tight, that's the only reason I took off a star. Also, the girl at the counter was super cute but very angry *over the loud speaker* "ATTENTION DAISO CUSTOMERS; you are NOT allowed to have outside food or drink here, EVER!" I love Daiso. I used to drive all the way to Torrance just to go to it! Now that there's one six blocks from me, I'm in heaven. It is the best store for helpful household items and little gifts. I love this place. If I move again, I'd probably furnish my apartment with kitchenware and accessories from Daiso. At $1.50 for most things, the price is hard to beat. They do have things for $3 or more, but it's stuff like laptop sleeves. This place is pretty much an Asian girl's dreamland that's overloaded with cuteness. From apple-shaped sugar pots to neon orange silicone bakeware, they have it all. You can get some pretty good necessities here too. Their kitchenware section is expansive and creative. You can let your kids pick out a favorite bowl or cup! One of my favorite sections of the store is near the cash registers where they have that snack aisle. The prices are definitely cheaper than those in H-mart and they carry some snacks that you probably can't find around unless you go to Mitsuwa or 99 Ranch Market. Be cognizant that they have a $10 credit card minimum and they do not accept returns. So while everything, for the most part, is only $1.50, it does add up and you may find yourself buying $30 of stuff that you probably don't need. read more

Suffice it to say that 90% of the items are $1.50, and there will be at least 10 items that you "need." Need is relative as Ayn Rand tells us, but you are going to really want at least 10 items. Missed out on the Yelp fingerless gloves give-away? Fear not. The packaging for every item is covered with fun hieroglyphics (it's Japanese) and that generally translates into a bit of style behind even the most pedestrian of items. I have been there twice and both times the girls behind the counter seem seriously remedial and have no idea what customer service should mean. If I were the owner, I would hire a new crew of courteous workers. I mean their job is not difficult by any means-you stand there, smack your precious dirty finger on the cash register- that's it! Can you do it with a smile and some courtesy like your counterparts in Asia?!?!? Having been to the ones in Korea this one is very disappointing. I was excited and right away grabbed a basket and ended up buy only a few things I could have gotten at the dollar store with a return policy. The girl behind the counter rudely tells me that they have a no refund/return policy and I tell her that is weird and she says matter-a-factly "what do you expect, everything is $1.50. The dollar store has a return/refund policy. Dollar Tree has a return/refund policy. I am buying a product from your company and no matter how cheap it is you should give the customer some kind of security and take pride that you are not selling a shit product. Such a cute store!! You can find so many different things in here from housewares, stationary, and yummy Asian snacks. During my trip to LA, I bought so many items that I had to ship them home. I bought some super cute school supplies including Japanese erasers for my daughter, a ramen cooker that was like $3, cat socks, seaweed snacks, cute kitchen accessories, and more. FINALLY, a DAISO opened up near me in K-town. I was first introduced to Daiso when I was studying abroad in Japan. Apparently, they're have been locations in the Bay Area for years! Unfortunately for us So-Cal residents, they have slowly been making there way down. I used to make the trek all the way to their Gardena location, but was elated when I heard about their Ktown location. It's in the Madang Plaza on the first floor. The parking is actually on Manhattan Place and the entrance to the parking is right after the CGV parking, which you can then get validated at Daiso for 2hrs free! This store is alot smaller than the Gardena counterpart. But they fill it full of helpful, cute, kitschy items. I came here to pick up a purse hook for my mother, which for the price is a steal because I've seen them go for about $10. I have one of my own, and I constantly get compliments on it and its usefulness. They take debit/credit purchases if you spend a minimum of $10. However, they don't take returns or exchanges. So you better be very happy with what you buy and don't take it bad if it breaks sooner than expected. The store is very clean and organized. When I had questions regarding a certain product I was trying to find, the store associates were very helpful. They also had food being sold cheaper than $1.50, which compared to the other stores was nice, because Yan Yan and Panda are not worth more than $1.50. read more

$1.50 on almost everything - it's good for kid stuff. Just don't expect quality items. It's really more for fun. The best deals we found are: origami paper, soft winter socks, erasers of various designs, pen and pencils, and kid's watches. The happiness of my 7-year old here almost compares to the smile she gives me when we're at Disneyland. Lol! There's also plastic homewares and organizing boxes made of paper or plastic. Some electronic gadgets are pretty good like the iPhone cover and headphones. The few bad things: you can get hooked. It's highly-addicting. Lines can get long and customers are already shoulder-to-shoulder in the aisles. Parking at CGV Building is free with 2-hours validation from Daiso. The parking can get full on Friday night. The building itself where Daiso is has a lot of other restaurants and a cinema so the parking can get busy. The clientele is mostly young adults or working professionals. Yep $1.50...I don't even know how to describe this place, you just have to go! I have been to this location (koreatown), the sawtelle store and the one in torrance...this store is just amazing. I have found so many things I didn't know I needed! Thank you Daiso for introducing so many random, useful and just all around unique things into my life! LOL I have bought everything from cute fabric storage boxes, dog wee-wee pads, false eyelashes & holders, aluminum foil & ziploc bags w/ cute patterns, tons of kitchen gadgets that cost 5x as much at Sur la Table (like garlic roller, mini mandolins, silicone heat-proof cooking utensils, etc.)...I could go on forever but you just need to go yourself...you'll thank me later. Add Ikea + 99 cent store + cute Japanese style = the genius of Daiso. It's technically not a dollar store, most items are under $1.50, unless marked up to around $3. However, they have everything from glass containers (the good kind) to beach chairs to bluetooth headsets to dermatologist instruments. I was beyond amazed when I walked in the Koreatown location last week.....next time I move, I plan on buying all these dishes, beach chairs, and home accessories...instead of buying the monotonous and boring style from Ikea. This place is just crazy! We went in here randomly and didn't know what we would expect. Everything unless marked otherwise was only $1.50! What a deal! It had everything and anything. I would compare this to a Family Dollar but with things from Japan. You could find great souvenirs and gifts.
