If you live in the bay, you've seriously must've been living under a rock if you haven't stepped foot into Daiso yet! While all Daisos are amazing, some are definitely more amazing than others. This particular one is conveniently located in the mall. Maybe TOO convenient, because it's ALWAYS packed and there's always a super long line! Due to the mall location, it's definitely smaller than the others that I've been to. Aisles are narrow, good luck squeezing past anyone with a basket! Despite the few drawbacks (and occasionally running out of things like stationary), this place is PACKED full of awesome things that you didn't know you needed (such as fake lashes, washi tape, and banana flavored pocky). read more

I love this Daiso. It's always fun to stop by and browse. The physical size of the store is not ginormous and it's located in the middle of a very busy mall, but it still has a wide variety of merchandise and is the best-stocked Daiso I have been to. There is something for everyone here - food, beauty, personal care, storage, kitchen, housewares, stationery, etc.- with the added bonus of Japanese charm. The tendency of Japanese culture to compartmentalize and organize everything is definitely evident here. They have a lot of cheap, useful items for your home or office that you might have a hard time finding elsewhere. For example, I picked up the perfect little plastic box to hold all my nail polish. Don't expect top-notch quality. Think slightly better quality than Dollar Tree. For most of the items you would buy here though, you don't need it to last 10 years. There are a few items that do cost more than $1.50, but I usually don't pay any attention to those because it's not worth it to spend more. read more

Thank God for Yelp. I was looking to see the hours for the Daiso in Cupertino and come to find out there is one closer to me at the Great Mall. WOO HOO! This store is bigger than the one in Cupertino. Lots of selection but man, this place is a mess! I went there looking for bento box items for my toddler and they did not disappoint: silicon cupcake holders, small container dividers, food slicers in flower patterns! YAY! I also found arm warmers that would make perfect baby knee protectors (for crawling babies) and also ended up buying (of course!) more eyelashes (although they had a much smaller selection of lashes than the one in Cupertino). They currently were selling good sized clay pots and masubi makers (I've seen them for $30+ at the Art and Wine Festivals). This place rocks! read more

A little bit of everything but a lot of everybody! A tiny store located in the great mall with $1.50 items!! I bought over the knee socks here and I love it! I saw similar socks somewhere else for $10, so glad I found them here! From accessories anywhere, to house items, car, pets, and beauty. Daiso definitely has it! This is the worst Daiso location! It's so damn crammed and tiny. The aisles can only fit one person at a time. It's definitely a fire hazard in there. They're trying too hard to fit a Daiso store in a small space. They should just cough up more money to rent a bigger space. Obviously they have a ton of customers and sales. Invest in a bigger store elsewhere. I came yesterday with my mom and within a minute of entering the store we already left since it was so tight in there plus a long line. No thank you.... read more

Cool place to shop! The entire family bought stuff like squishys,bike lights,purse hanger, snacks, etc.its like going to a dollar store but in this case 1.50 and more. I liked it because the packaging says made in japan and says daiso on it so i bought alot of trinkets to pass out to family and friends when i got home. For 1.50 everyone can get a quirky souvenir,lol i would totally go back and shop if i ever visit the city again the mall in which its located is fun to shop in as well so its a win win for this out of towner! read more

So being a poor college student i'm suuuuuper cheap and did I mention poor? I've been dying to get a back scratcher because i love getting my back scratched duh. I checked all the cheap sites, I checked eBay/Amazon and they were all about $3. THREE bucks for a piece of wood?! K i know i prob sound like a major cheapo but i won't hide it, every dollar counts for me. So I was exciiiited when I saw one at Daiso (everything there is $1.50 unless otherwise noted). AND it came with a massaging ball at the end of it. Some Indian lady asked me what it was for..silly lady, I thought back scratchers were an Asian thing. Anyway, they had a nice selection of nail polish i presume, however, the shelf was empty. it looked like it would have had a lot. There was also piggy bangs, falsies, makeup crap, animal crap, undies, mittens, kitchenware, Asian snacks, asian drinks, party favors, bathroom crap, and just all this random stuff that made a fun trip to the mall. Much smaller and poorer selection than other Daiso. The line to pay is ridiculous. Not worth going to if you are looking for something specific or are looking to get lost in all the wonders of random Japanese goods! Much of the products they carry are pretty standard and very useful, like a dollar store should be, but I like looking at all the little tchotchke decorations and ceramics that the other larger Daiso locations have more of. I got: Dish washing net sponges - $1.50 for a pack of 7 Polyester shopping bag (featuring a cute bear face) - $1.50 Driving gloves -$1.50 College-ruled notebook (world map design) - $1.50 29.5 x 17.7 inch rubber-backed floor mats - $3.00 each They carried lots of mesh zip bags for washing delicate clothing, a good selection of plastic storage bins, and bookends in various colors. I saw plenty of kitchen stuff, bath stuff, toys, art stuff, desk accessories, pet supplies, gift bags, cosmetics, snacks, slippers, flip flops, and stationery. The store was packed on Saturday afternoon, and the line was long (almost to the back of the store), but there were four cashiers working, so the wait time wasn't bad. Lots of button cell batteries were available (on a large rack) near the cash registers. The cashiers were cheerful, and I heard all four of them thanking customers for shopping here. read more

this Daiso is the smallest i've seen (besides berkeley). aisles are narrow, hard to browse since it's easy to bump into people accidentally. i took a quick scan, noticed not a lot of eats to choose from, just grabbed one. eats: snapea crisps (wasabi ranch). calbee(1.5/3 oz) -crunchy snapea with flavorings of wasabi and ranch, addictive. -not much fat, little sugar, lots of fibre, potassium -crunchy health food! check outs: -when lines got short, i got in line -never buying sunglasses here again, "arms" broke easily.... note: Costco has it "on sale" short time only, 20 oz, $5ish read more

DAISO was one of my favorite stores visiting Japan! However, the ones in Japan are two or even three stories... but the ones in the states will do! I'm just happy I can get my Daiso fix here in Milpitas now! Hopefully they don't close it... but there's something for everyone here. I guarantee that you can come out with at least one thing that's useful, cutesy, or a snack! They have anything and everything that you can think of... which is WHY I'd prefer Daiso over Dollar Tree anyday. Everything is just cuter, smaller, or perfect size. Japanese people really keep things compact which is why I love the store. Everything from arts&crafts, to beauty products, to storage, to bake goods, and random things they have. I love their fake eyelashes the most because it's meant for asian eyes! I tried a pair on for New Years Eve and didn't have to trim the lash and it lasted for over 14 hours with all the dancing and jumping that I did! :) I also love their snacks and don't have to travel to Mitsuwa or Murakai for a quick fix. I concur with other reviewers that this is the best Daiso. It's a small store but neatly organized. I was pleasantly surprised to find Japanese calligraphy tools such as bottled ink, brushes, paper, and ink stones. I'm not sure about the quality, but it should be good enough for a beginner to practice. I bought a set from Japan for $65. Daiso's price should not deter any enthusiasts to try their hands on this lovely Japanese culture. read more

Always a big fan of this store. Pretty big daiso but not as big as the one in Union city or SF. They do have a great selection of items all 1.50 each unless noted otherwise. No returns on any of their items and I believe at least a 10 dollar minimum purchase if you use your credit card. I usually come here to get their fake eye lashes because its so cheap and they have a variety to choose from. I also love looking through their cooking/baking aisle as well. I bought a variety of tongs of different sizes, just for when I host parties this comes in handy. Lots of cute stationary items. Also a lot of items that you dont expect to find but suddenly you realize you need. Lol. Plays funky kpop/jpop music but kinda neat. I was sad when this store originally closed a few years ago. Happily, it came back! Now it has slightly higher prices ($1.50 vs $1.00) but it's still a nice store to shop. Whenever I go to the Great Mall, stopping by Daiso is on my list of places to go. From random useful everyday items (mini colanders, eye makeup brushes, flashlights) to pet supplies (toys, cheap leashes, bowls) and snack items. No refunds on purchases, there's a minimum purchase to use credit/debit cards, and the line can be long, but the staff are efficient and try their best to keep the line moving. read more

This the second time I've been to Daiso and I love it. And unlike the one in Berkeley this one has the added benefit of being in a mall. I was able to buy a charger for my phone for $1.50. That was great because my battery was on it's last leg and I needed my GPS to get home. I also bought a whole bunch of things I didn't need and it was awesome! First off, Daiso is located between Century Theatres and Dave and Busters so park at either to find it. Daiso is an awesome Japanese store (but made in China) with most items costing only $1.50. They have all kinds of cool things that you can buy. My favorite section of the store is the kitchen section in the back left corner of the store. Any kitchen gadget or item you may be looking for should be here. The employees are super helpful so don't be afraid to ask if you are looking for something in particular. They also keep a pretty clean shop with everything organized as best as possible with all the customers continuously messing things up. Overall an excellent "dollar store" shopping experience. My only gripe would be the stock can sometimes be limited because their volume is so high. So if you see something you like, be sure to grab it right away. Don't make the mistake of waiting until your next visit to buy it because it might not be there! For any who aren't familiar with the products Daiso sells, they sell EVERYTHING! From food to shoes, tooth brushes, home decor and storage racks- they have almost everything you need if you've recently moved into the area, or just need some very nice silk writing pens! When I was still in high school, I'd always come here to restock on my notebooks and pens, which are roughly $1.50 unless otherwise stated. It's easy to go on a shopping spree at Daiso, because there are things there that you wouldn't think you needed but actually, will make your life much easier! Certain products aren't made to last, or made to the highest quality - which is the only downside. For example, I purchased packaging tape to use for online orders from my shop and the tape was hard to pull off initially, and even less strong when on the box , so I used double the tape for half the price. I guess you get your money's worth! Certain products like pens, school supplies, and Q-tips are great. Anything that isn't expected to have maximum strength is. If you're an organic nut like myself, you'll be warned the store can have a chemical 'fresh from the box' smell that can give you a headache if you're sensitive. I stray away from the cookware because it may not be BPA friendly and can contain lead or chemical paints and top coat. Overall, this store is great for pocky, ramune , and small essentials! The line is somewhat tricky because it can go through the home improvement aisle or block the makeup one, it depends on the hour and level of traffic in the mall. Prices are usually $1.50 unless otherwise stated so no surprises on the price. Staff is very nice, but the store is straight forward enough to get the picture- no need for customer service. I prefer this store above the Dollar Tree for the reason it's well kept and the variety of product stocked too. They don't have balloons or party supplies, but deliver just the same amount of products. American treats and candies aren't sold here either, so don't expect a Kit-Kat or Lays Chips at check out! This is my favorite Daiso out of the many in the Bay Area. Every time I come here, as crowded as it gets (and it does, since it is located inside the mall) I always find something incredibly cute. I recently bought some folding floral bins to store toiletries, some peach tealights, a bento box and cutlery set with poodles for my daughter's lunch box, a Disney Frozen pen and sandwich bags (note: anything Frozen themed in Japantown was marked up ten times more than any American Frozen item), Rococo style cotton pad holder, a glass candy dish as well as a pink plastic candy dish, mini alarm clocks and some matcha Pocky for a friend of mine. Out of all of those things only one item was $3 and the tealights were $1. I make a special stop to come here because it is nowhere near my home, but I love this particular Daiso so much I don't mind. Others have commented and said it's a mess but I've never found it to be dirty. It is most definitely busy and you will probably find items strewn about in places they oughtn't to be, but they constantly have employees stocking shelves and helping customers. The line usually goes pretty quickly and as others have said most things are $1.50 (there are signs all over in case you forget). All sales are final. read more

Daiso Japan INSIDE a shopping center? You got to be KIDDING ME. But it's true! Inside Great Mall, there's actually a Daiso! Even though the store is pretty small (it's like your typical city sized version of Daiso), you'll find the typical items you come to this place for. I came here with my friend to buy some boxes and wrapping paper. Unfortunately, it was a tad bit difficult to navigate around the store since it was pretty small and there was WAY too many people at a time. However, I eventually did get what I was looking for. Even though it can get extremely crowded during weekends, the cashiers are efficient and friendly. I didn't have the most positive experience since it took me longer to get what I needed than I'd have wanted, but once I got in line, I was good to go. Also, don't go expecting super low prices here for an outlet mall. Everything is still $1.5 for most items or less. Shop well and prosper read more

Daiso is Daiso so you cannot go wrong with it. I've been to this location several times just because I happened to be at the Great Mall. It's a decent sized store and it has pretty much what every store carries. I seriously love Daiso because it's really cheap and I usually go for those cheap/small notebooks for school. That's literally only what I really buy. They're really good quality, too! I didn't really like this branch as much maybe because of how crowded it was the last time I went. I couldn't exactly walk to the isle with the stuff I needed unless I squeeze through everyone. I eventually left because it was hard to find the isle with so many people (it's not Daiso's fault since it was the weekend at the Great Mall). The line was also really long and I needed to be somewhere in a little bit. Overall, it's a decent branch to go to, but not the weekends I guess. I think Daiso is a lot roomier with less customers on weekdays. This is probably the only Daiso in the area so I understand why there would be so many people. But yeah, I guess it's a little too convenient for people to come. read more

This Daiso felt like it was ransacked by a tornado. The shelves were discombobulated and it felt like everything was strewn about everywhere. Also found that a lot of items were not stocked which is a shame. I was trying to find various items but couldn't find them which is a bummer. My favorite Daiso store that I've been to. It's not the biggest, but it's the most organized & aesthetically pleasing to the eye while perusing their well-stocked items. I have never had a bad experience here thus far & the staff are very friendly. The items are basically the Dollar Store equivalent, but Asian & slightly higher quality. However, like any of these types of stores, don't expect the items to last forever. Most items that Daiso have are mostly $1.50 each, which isn't bad at all. Who doesn't love Daiso?! Almost everything is $1.50 and they have so much stuff! Even things that I didn't know I needed. It's a trap for me. Similar to Target, I go in with the intention of quickly buying a few things and I always end spending 1-2 hrs in there leaving with SO much more than I had planned. Although it's a bit out of the way for me(which is a good thing or I would be completely broke) I usually go to this location because it's fairly large and has the best assortment compared to the other ones in the South Bay (Although if you're ever in Daly City I recommend that you check out the Daiso there because it's even bigger). This location is also very clean, organized, and fully stocked whenever I visit. The one in the Great Mall is so messy and almost empty every time I go. The one on Saratoga Ave. is a bit smaller and it can sometimes be a pain in the butt to find parking there, while finding parking at this location is a bit easier. read more

This place closed down when I came here a long time ago and now it's open again. Make up your mind! Anyway, like other Daisos, this location sells everything at $1.50+ with the exception of soda. One can get many discount items there like bowls and hand coverings. The line was not very long for the cashier. In comparison to locations that possess their own building, this location is small (possibly even smaller than the Irvine branch) but at least the aisles possess enough space to navigate through.
