As a lover of anything and everything that is cute, I absolutely love shopping at Daiso. Of course, one of the coolest things about the place is that everything is, unless otherwise stated, only $1.50. Even if that weren't the case, though, I'd still be a regular there just because of their selection of cute and useful items! Seriously, one of my favorite things is that there are so many things with cute animals or patterns or colors on them!! So many cute mugs! I've been to the store about four times now. Past purchases include: a small rug, several cute bags and containers, mittens, a USB adapter for my car, wrapping paper, stationary, false eyelashes, craft supplies, a phone screen cleaner, bowls and mugs, plant pots, trays, tea infusers, a trash can, pinwheels, decorative clasps to hold back curtains, various decorations like a solar-powered dancing flower, and snacks like Hi-Chew and pocky. Sadly I have to change the amount of stars, and for good reason too. The staff not so friendly. There were a few staff stocking the shelves. One guy saw me but no smile or hi! Really? You aren't going to acknowledge your customers. Also another lady stocking the shelf while I changed my mind and got a different color item.She didn't stop what she as doing until I finished. Thanks for making it Awkward! Now it time to check out? Even before I get up to the register they are chatting away. I get a guy and he rings me up. I use my credit card and he tells me there's $10 max limit.What? When did this happen? I've been able to use my credit card before on a few items. I don't carry around cash in my wallet...so I left. 1. The policy on using the credit card needs to change, not everyone carries around cash. Yes, they have cute supplies. However, I can go to dollar tree for same things. Dollar tree at least has stuff made in USA 2. Not happy with final sale. At least let me exchange it for something else I like. YES THANK HEAVENS FOR A DAISO NEARBY!!!!!!!!!!! I have always been a fan of Daiso since I got hooked to the one in LA. It's like a dollar store, only cuter and classier with cooler stuff. Japanese stuff really are better in quality, even in a dollar-fifty store! I buy all sorts of stuff from this place, from day to day use items to random gadgets that only the Japanese would think of inventing to take care of mundance daily tasks. Keep in mind though that a lot of the products are made in China and produced for this Japanese chain. Nonetheless I have no complaints about anything I have gotten from here before. I particularly love their dinnerware section. You can get some quality bowls for $1.50, and if you're patient enough to look at the labels at the bottom, you can uncover some "made in japan" gems :) read more

I love and HATE you at the same time.... and here are my reasons why. I LOVE YOU BECAUSE: 1. Your items are $1.50 unless otherwise listed. 2. Your discount goods are CUTE AS HELL and you have things in that shop that would cost me double at another outside store 3. It's pepto-bismal pink. Although I don't like the color pink, the scheme of it all just makes it a happy place to waste all your money. 4. The J-POP jams spinning in the background brings a smile to people's faces. 5. Adfsfhjgjkbjd!!!!!! I saw the signs go up about 2 weeks ago. I had to stop by to see if it was open. They open officially yesterday March 8th. The location is right between In-N-Out and H Mart. It's the perfect location. It's right of the Mira Mesa exit on the 15. It's going to be convenient for everyone! Daiso is so awesome! Everything is about $1.50 unless marked otherwise. They have lots of random things too. They have aisle with kitchen stuff, cosmetics, gift wrap, cute boxes, stationary, snacks, etc.. The stuff here is really cute!!!!! On this visit I picked up a small magnetic parts tray, ear plugs, and a chocolate roll (that was soft and delicious to eat). They accept cash and credit cards. The store is extremely well organized, clean, and well lit. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Their private lot has plenty of parking for all of the surrounding businesses. So much fun! Let's ignore the face that Daiso is a huge chain, that imports all there stuff from China and other developing nations and am sure is a terrible corporation. Phew, liberal guilt. Binder clips with flower patterns, yes please. A pancake pan in the shape of a teddy bear, yes please. Hair ribbons with stars, why not? Its true you do not NEED anything that you can buy here. But sometimes, just sometimes a plaid lunch bag will just make your week better. Also, please remember it is in the Hmart complex, so parking here can be a nightmare. This place has everything that you can expect in a basic dollar discount store, only with so much more color! You can find school supplies, beauty items, cleaning supplies, Japanese snacks and candy, and much more. Today was my first visit, and I walked out with two boxes of matcha flavored Pocky, a set of two erasers, a squeegee windshield cleaner, and a box of oil blotting paper for less than $10. I don't recommend coming here for quick visits. I waited 15 minutes in line to pay for my purchase on a Tuesday afternoon. The biggest disappointments for me were seeing that the face masks were almost out of stock and that there were only two people at the register. When I heard there was a Daiso here in San Diego, I bookmarked it and made a special trip to go there. What a nerd I am! But who doesn't love browsing random, oddball, useful, useless, interesting, strange cheap pieces of junk/amazing finds? I probably spent an hour wandering around very slowly. When you first walk in, you are hit by how incredibly BRIGHT and sort of...pink...everything is. If you are unfamiliar with Diaso, it is like a Japanese dollar store (100 yen store), but here it's all $1.50. I can't even explain the wild array of items. Costumes, pet items, makeup, dishware, kitchen gadgets, personal care items, clothing, stationery, plastic containers, kids' stuff, I could go on. They even had some matcha Pocky that was cheaper than it was at H Mart next door. I am proud to say I walked out with only 2 items plus the Pocky. :) read more

THERE'S A DAISO IN MIRAMESA NOW!!!! So happy :) it was super crowded when it just opened but now it's kind of slowed down a bit. This daiso is definitely the smallest one I've ever been to (the best one was in San Francisco.. Irvine and Chino hills were decently sized). Of course it still carries a bunch of cute, Japanese, $1.50 products! Daiso seriously has everything, it's one of my favorite stores ever. It's easy to go crazy in these kinds of places... resist the urge to throw everything into your basket just because! I try to come in with a purpose otherwise I'll end up buying everything... The only thing I would avoid is the snacks. Honestly, you could probably buy those anywhere for a cheaper price... not really worth it. This place has a ton of useful items, at the low price of $1.50. So much stuff ranging from toys to ties, and cooking supplies to stationary. I do fee that the quality of items is a little cheap, but what do you expect for such low price. There are a couple of items that do cost more and are labeled as such. And on a much more rarer occasion there are a few items that cost less than their $1.50 standard as well. Daiso is a chain, but this particular location parking is a little rough, mostly due the H-Mart and In-N-Out surrounding it. The place itself is a little small and walking through the aisles feels quite cramped. So in the week it has been opened, I've been here 3 times. I'm lying. 4. I've been to the one in Seattle which has ALOT of school supplies (heart it) wishing for one here in SD! FINALLY! Everything is so stinkin' cute!!!! First (opening day) day I spent $40. On what? I couldn't tell you but it's all over my bathroom counter. I highly suggest the black peeling mask (white tube). I think it even took off the small hairs off my upper stash (which is great being I'm a female)! It took a painful minute to peel off but my face was super soft. After that, I used a face mask (also purchased from there) to look like a young 21 year old but in reality a 3_.... gotta love Asian skin! ;) I don't know how to put on false lashes but because they have a plethora of different kinds and even a case to hold them in, I will be learning how! Note to self: -Put side blinders on and go straight for what you need and get out quickly or you'll find yourself in the hole. -2 items=$3 PROS- Finally here! Drove by on their grand opening day and there was a line to get in that pretty much wrapped around the shopping center. Decided to pass and return another day. Good choice! The first thing I thought as I walked through the store was that it was the equivalent of a 99 cent store but with a Japanese twist. All items are $1.25 unless otherwise noted on the item itself. They have a good selection of housewares and cute Japanese stationary products. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a look see...you might end up finding something that you didn't even know you needed, like tall boots plastic inserts to prevent wrinkling. This is my favorite Daiso location because the organization and layout of the store makes sense to me, makes it fairly easy to find anything. When I wanted a specific item but they no longer had the color I wanted, the workers offered to put in a special order for me and called me when it was ready for pick up. My family and I LOVE the Daiso in Irvine so when I found out that there was a Daiso opening in Mira Mesa, I was ON IT. The shop is located inside the plaza where H Mart is. You would think that parking might be easy to find since the plaza is so big, but it gets quite busy up in that area. The concept of Daiso is that everything is $1.50 unless the price is marked otherwise! Think of it as a Japanese "99cent only" store, except better! You can find pretty much anything in here and there is no doubt that you will end up purchasing SOMETHING here. The quality is quite nice too! The only downside is that there is absolutely no returns (all sales are final). It's not too huge of a bummer since you won't be losing that much if the item isn't as you hoped... but still something to think about. I have a Marukai right by my house so I'm not sure if I would go to Daiso all the time, but it's really nice knowing that I don't have to drive up to Irvine just to visit Daiso ;]. I love going to Marukai, so I was super excited when I heard Daiso opened close to home! Everything is super kawaii. I come in needing one thing and leave with more. Items that are not $1.50 will be marked with their own price. They don't have home living like Marukai, with the big Japanese/Korean name brands. A downfall besides parking is the "all sales final" policy. Be sure to inspect all your items before purchasing. I've been there twice in a row and each time I spent about 2 hours there. They bring out new items, not sure how often, but I saw a couple of new things the second time I went. Overall, my experiences were positive, the employees are friendly and everything is cute. This would have been a wet dream come true if this place opened when I was a high schooler. I wouldn't have to dangerously bike 10 something miles and back on the Kearny Mesa highway to buy Palty hair dye or the latest music magazine with my favorite idol on the cover. (Well, I could drive now...) It's a Daiso, big deal. The bright colors remind me of the one in Rowland Heights. It's honestly a step above the dollar store, with more selection and variety. Comes with pretty neat and cheap hair accessories, but too bad it couldn't have been like Marukai - it would be diddly darn neat to buy Japanese cosmetics/falsies on walking distance. (But not really cos then there goes my paychecks.) Beware of the weaboos, I haven't seen them around since H-mart opened (Although I must admit that is more Koreaboo territory) but I KNOW they are around here ever since I took Japanese 101 at Mesa College (And then failed, but I digress). I usually go to the Daiso in Japan Town, in San Francisco, or Daily City, so I'm a bit spoiled with the selection and amount of inventory at those locations. With that said, this store is awesome considering the size. It's clean, well organized and the staff are friendly. It's always fun to go around this store and see what they have to offer. Oh Daiso, land of random items that you know you don't need but 9 out of 10 you purchase it because 1) it's cute and 2) it's cheap. It's a fun place to just roam around. I don't necessarily go in to purchase items, I go in just to roam around the store and to oogle at the cute little items. Remember, if you break it, you buy it. You can't open up packages. You can't return anything but you can exchange it - though I'm not sure what the exact rule is. Anyhow, just enjoy looking at the random goods that this huge store has to offer.
