This was my first and last visit. The food was fine, but the drinks are outrageously overpriced. My wife's $20 margarita looked like it belonged in a shot glass. On top of that, the bill included a 4% "employee healthcare fee," which is supposedly optional--but the only way to avoid paying it is to ask for it to be removed, which just makes you feel awkward. Maybe it's written on the menu, but after a couple drinks, I didn't notice. What's happening when tips are treated as mandatory and customers are expected to cover restaurant employees' healthcare costs? "Tip" means To Insure Promptness--it's earned, not automatic. And as for the healthcare charge, I already pay a fortune for my own family's health insurance. I shouldn't have to subsidize a restaurant's responsibilities as an employer. If their $20 thimble-sized margaritas can't cover costs, then they need better financial management. Don't pass it onto customers under the guise of an "optional" fee. read more

Been here around 5 times and every time was solid. The drinks were great, food was fantastic, and the service was warm, attentive, and personable. Embarrassed to say this, but I think I've tried most of the cocktails they've had to offer. Management, if you're reading this, this is an official plea to make the whiskey milk punch drink from Christmas a menu permanent. As for food, I loved the ceviche and aguachile, as well as the house salsas. Tortilla chips were always refilled before we actually ran out. The absolute stand outs for me were the oysters with the hibiscus mignonette, the taco arabe (the green apple slaw is perfect), and the pescabirrias (brunch exclusive). You will not believe the birria is fish. The service was, of course, impeccable. Much like its sister restaurant, Mirate, the servers check in often, they're always there with a recommendation or advice, and they're all very familiar with the menu. Decor is warm and the seating is plentiful without being stuffy. If you sit at the bar, you get jukebox tokens for every drink you order. Parking is a bit of a pain though! Special shout out to Greg who's always checking in on us, refilling our water, and bringing us chips, even though he's the manager. Bring your friends and your family! I've been twice now and both times were so lovely. The food is amazing, the 3 salsas are insanely good, so unique in ingredients, texture, and flavor. Highly reccommend you make reservations, Daisy's is really popular and even with a 530pm reservation was hopping! Its not a huge space so if you don't have a reservation, be prepared to wait. Inside theres a big bar, its dimly light but while a small space you don't feel like you are jammed next to each other. The staff was incredible - very helpful in navigating us through the menu - i like a little spice but am a wimp with anything super hot and our waitress steered us in the right direction to have a great experience. Daisy's is mostly know for their drinks so we have course had to start with that and opted to try the Margarita Classica. We started with the smashed avocado's which included chips as well (and you can continue to ask for more chips if needed) - the smashed avocados includes shallots, lime, garlic, tostadas and was a great way to kick off the meal. I love a queso fundido - so it was a must on my list and it did not disappoint. It consists of chorizo, pico de gallo and flour tortillas to enjoy them! Around the dish the cheese was a little burnt but those are the best pieces to eat! Loved every bite! We then shared the Branzino -with adobo verde, tomatillo greens, salsa verde. Our waitress warned the salsa on top is a tad spicy so we opted for that on the side. In the middle of the branzino there are some bones but we were also. told ahead of time to look out for it! Regardless this was so fresh and light to eat! We ended the night with Pan de Elote y Helado de Platano - which is an heirloom corn cake with banana ice cream and puffed sorghum. Did i know what i was ordering absolutely not but it sounded so interesting, why not try it! Boy, did this not disappoint. I've been to Daisy somewhere between 5-10 times now for both their brunch and dinner service, and I left deeply impressed each time. Daisy is serving both cocktails and food at a high level, and it is rare for a place to excel at both! For their drinks, the sour apple margarita is by far my overall favorite. I've tried numerous apple flavored cocktails at different bars, but none quite capture the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess as Daisy's sour apple margarita. I've brought friends and family multiple times to Daisy, and this drink has always been everyone's favorite. The mangoneada margarita is also fun, and comes with a sort of mango boba topping that you can scoop with a spoon. The salsa bar is where the drinks get super fun and creative, and are such proofs of concept. The salsa verde margarita is my favorite of this group--you can clearly pick up the charred tomatillo and chile with each sip, while the baja slaw margarita's deep purple hue makes it one of the prettiest drinks that Daisy serves. Their non-margarita drinks are also excellent -- in particular, their take of the cosmopolitan and daiquiri are incredible, and are some of the best versions of those drinks I've ever had. Daisy also offers a refreshing pastelito margarita and frozen michelada for their brunch service, which are reason enough to brunch at Daisy. Also you can also get jukebox tokens if you sit at the bar! While Daisy is often lauded for their cocktails, their food is as equally good as the drinks. The pescabirrias, made with yellowfin tuna, is only offered at brunch and lives in my mind rent free. I've ordered this dish multiple times and have gone back to Daisy specifically with it in mind. The oysters with hibiscus mignonette were refreshing without being too briny, and their aguachile and ceviche were fresh and packed full of flavor. For their dinner menu, the fideo seco (which comes with huge shrimps on top) and taco de pulpo (rich, meaty, filling, and covered with queso Oaxaca), were my favorites. Their salsas de la casa are also great, and the salsa negra in particular has a savory, smoky taste. For dessert, Daisy makes a really good flan de calabaza--the texture is perfect without being too sweet. The interior decor, inspired by Mexico's norteño cantinas, is warm and carefully thought out, with green accents in their furnishing giving the place just the right pop of color. The servers I've had (Ronnie, Hillary, Rahim) have always been friendly and attentive, often coming by to check on us and always providing refills of chips before we run out. Ben, one of the hosts, is always friendly and accommodating. The bartenders there (Rob, Kristina) are engaging and super knowledgeable about their craft. Last but not least, the manager, Greg, always comes by to see how we are doing to make sure that our experience at Daisy is memorable and enjoyable, and provides so much background and information about Daisy's food and cocktails! Daisy is a truly special place, and deserving of all the accolades and nods it has been getting (most recently a James Beard semifinalist for best new bar!) They are Mirate's sister restaurant/bar, but they've really carved out an identity of their own. Drop dead gorgeous experience at Daisy last week. My husband and I sat at the bar around 6pm on the 22nd. We heard they'd just opened not long ago and given that info, I was impressed. Every dish was uniquely tasty. The staff seems to be trained well which is particularly important for this price point. The ambiance is dark and sexy. Parking available around the block. Our bartender/server was a youngish white guy (clean cut/blonde?) and he was super chill and sweet. Helped us pick a desert and allowed me to taste the in-house mezcal which he said went well with our corn cake and banana ice cream desert. The ice cream stole the show on that plate for sure with notes of burnt caramel. The mezcal was, let's say.. young & sharp.. I prefer some age. His Cadillac was perfect. Say yes to the hamachi on chicharron & octopus taco. Between the 2 of us we needed one more savory dish to consider it dinner. Next time I'm going for the fish! I've been meaning to look up the head chef, the food was legit. Everything felt authentic but truly unique. Bravo! Finally, snaps to the whoever designed the drink program. As a huge fan of Mirate, Daisy's food is not as great as Mirate but it is still tasty. I enjoyed the Octopus taco so much that I ordered it twice during our meal here. Salsa trio was okay, I like Mirate's better. I also prefer the tostadas they serve with the salsas more at Mirate. Ceviche selection is pretty much the same as Mirate. They both serve the yellowtail ceviche with avocado and fried seaweed, but they are named differently at Daisy and Mirate. We didn't order any alcohol, so I can't comment on the margaritas or drinks. The ambiance inside the restaurant is very dark, and they play LOUD music. Our server had trouble hearing us, and we also couldn't comprehend him. Once the restaurant became busy, we couldn't get his attention to order food because he simply could not hear us. We had a reservation for 5pm, and the restaurant was pretty much filled by 6pm. I would recommend placing a reservation to ensure you can be seated. I would recommend Mirate over Daisy due to better vibes, ambiance and poor service that I experienced. read more

My fiancé and I are a huge fan of Mírate, so when we heard there was sister bar in the area we knew we had to come check it out. It's a good bar but Mírate is better. It's been open a week so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. It's very busy, so make a reservation! they do take walk ins but the wait is over an hour. The cocktail menu is extensive. One of the cocktails had a fried cricket on it which was cool! We had the creamsicle, Oaxacan old fashioned, Tommy's margarita and a Baja margarita. Their food menu has a little bit of everything. We got a queso fundido and a pan de elote with banana ice cream and popcorn topping. the queso fundido was delicious! It came with 4 tortillas. Not sure if you could ask for more. The dessert had a lot of different textures. The pan de elote was good but tasted more like banana bread than corn bread. Our bill for 4 drinks, 1 appetizer and 1 dessert was about $150, so beware! The team behind Mírate opened Daisy Margarita Bar, a Norteño-inspired modern cantina that's clearly meant to pay homage to Mexican tradition while offering elevated cocktails and dishes. We tried the Tostada de Atún, Aguachile de Callo, Dos Tlacoyos, Taco Árabe, Taco de Pulpo, and finished with the Pan de Elote for dessert. -The Tostada and Aguachile were both fresh and vibrant, definitely quality ingredients and clean flavors. -The Taco de Pulpo was rich and satisfying -- easily one of the standouts. -The Taco Árabe... not my personal favorite. It leaned way too mint-forward, and the flavors didn't quite marry well for me. -The Pan de Elote was unexpected: not sweet at all, with a banana ice cream that wasn't overpowering and a fun crunchy popcorn topping for texture -- different, but it worked. Overall, the food is pricey, but you can taste the quality -- fresh seafood, careful plating, thoughtful details. If you're willing to pay for elevated ingredients and a conceptual menu, it's worth it. Drinks: We tried the Mangoneada Margarita and the Sour Apple Margarita. -The Mangoneada Margarita surprised me in a good way -- no over-the-top tamarindo/chamoy rim like you'd expect. Daisy intentionally doesn't do rims on their margaritas to avoid throwing off the balance of flavors -- and honestly, you can taste the difference. -The Sour Apple Margarita was refreshing but didn't taste like apple at all -- more like a clean lime margarita with a subtle hint of cucumber hiding in the background. (¿Manzana? ¿Dónde?) Where I struggled was the vibe. I get the Norteño cantina theme, but the music was so loud it killed the conversation at the table -- and it wasn't vibey Norteño playlist and either; it was more like your tío's backyard peda playlist before the "who-owns-the-terrenos" fight breaks out. It felt a little chaotic for a place pitching itself as modern and elevated. Service-wise, no major complaints. It was opening weekend, so I'm giving grace -- new spots always need a little time to tighten up operations. Staff was friendly but clearly still finding their flow. I am regular client of this restaurant, and I always bring my service dog and and today I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I was denied entry because I had my service dog with me, despite service dogs being legally permitted in dining establishments. I calmly explained this, but the staff still refused to allow us inside. I understand that policies around animals can be confusing, but service dogs are not pets--they are necessary medical aids.
