Used to go here all the time with friends when it was Dakgogi. Never had any issues, service was great, food was great. Went back on a weeknight at 10-11pm (party of 5) after it became Pocha, and had the worst service ever and waitress was really shady. Food was still good though. First, when we got in no one bothered to greet or seat us after 5-10mins of standing around so we ended up seating ourselves. Restaurant was super cold so we had to wear our jackets all night. Besides taking our order and serving our food, didn't see our waitress the entire night. We had to repeatedly get up to try to find the waitress so we could get napkins, water, cutlery, etc because we never got any. Seemed like the place was very skimpy with their items because even after we asked for say napkins, waitress gave us 2 napkins for the entire table even though we all were eating wings and it was messy or 1 bag for 3 takeout containers (had to go back to ask for more after). We never were told any of the specials and had to get up ourselves to take a menu off the front table. Had to also ask 3 different times to get our bill/takeout containers. The shady part came when we were paying our bill. We had asked if it was possible to split the bill into 3 (we've done it many times in the past with no issues). This time waitress said no, 1 bill only. A bit inconvenient, but okay sure. When we got the machine, the amount was already punched in and seemed surprisingly very high for what we ordered. She never showed us the bill amount. It wasn't until I questioned the amount and looked at the bill, did she finally disclosed that she added auto 18% gratuity to the bill and claimed it is because we are a "large group". In Ontario, a large group is considered 6 people or more. Been to hundreds of restaurants in my life and never have been charged like this before. Not only were we less than 6 people, but the auto gratuity was never disclosed anywhere previously (not on the bill or menu, not verbally told when we sat/ordered, not when we were paying). It wasn't until we pointed it out, that she fessed up that she added it. We should never have been charged auto gratutity to begin with, but had we not been diligent, we would've double tipped. It honestly seemed like she wanted to pay herself a higher tip and was hoping we didn't notice. The worst part is, that service was NOT worth a 18% tip. We were barely served or looked at all night long. Waitress just never acknowledged us, never a hi or thank you, asked how we were doing, if we needed anything, etc for the 2 hrs we were there and we had to chase/do it ourselves. It really seemed like she was only attentive to Korean people and serving them, but not to anyone else who was not Korean (even though some of us were asian). Will not be going back here anymore, which is so unfortunate because it was one of mine and my friends' favourite go to spots. read more

Dakgogi recently changed its name to Woo Suk Po Cha, and it now has a casual Korean pub vibe. We ordered the jjamppong, soy sauce chicken, cheese balls, and odeng soup, and the food was very good overall. The jjamppong had plenty of mussels, and they tasted fresh, which really stood out. Portions were generous, and considering current inflation, the prices felt quite reasonable and affordable. The service was excellent -- servers were friendly, attentive, and quick to bring everything out. The only downside was the atmosphere. The music was a bit too loud, and the place was quite dark for my taste. Other than that, it was a great experience, especially for the food and value. I'd definitely come back. read more

It wasn't bad but wasn't particularly a standout. I came in on a Friday night and surprisingly it wasn't that busy. I ended up getting the half and half chicken as well as a seafood pancake. Half half chicken: Got the soy garlic and cheese powder chicken boneless. The soy garlic was alright and the sauce didnt really cover up all the chicken. The cheese powder chicken was a much better option, the cheese powder was more consistently mixed in. I really liked that the boneless chicken were more bite size pieces so it made it easier to eat. Seafood pancake: Quite disappointing, it was just really soft and soggy and not the usual crispiness I expected. I wouldn't recommend getting this. The vibes was more chill and not loud compared to the other spots which was nice. However, I found the food to be mediocre it's unfortunate since I heard it used to be amazing! It has been a while I came to this place and I remembered they had an excellent fried chicken back then. I decided to revisit on Saturday evening around 6pm. It was very dark inside and most tables were empty except the tables close to the window. A waitress greeted us with no smile & enthusiasm. We picked the table( close to the window) and she placed water, napkin and side plates. Even though it was not busy waitress seemed to forget to give us a menu. When we eventually got the menu, this time she came to our table to receive orders again with no smile, no personality whatsoever. There was another male server, he pretty much seemed to have no smile either. They both looked very miserable to work at the restaurant. Food & drinks were served on time, however once food was served, nooone was checking on our table to see everything was okay. For fried chicken, green onion chichen had strong hoisin sauce flavour that I did not expect. Kkanpoong chicken was supposed to coated with spicy chili soy sauce but it tasted like ketchup. I did not like either fried chicken. Dinining experience at Dakgogi was not very pleasant and food was mediocre. They really need to really step up their service level. I've been coming to Dakgogi for their Tuesday half price wing special for years, and it never disappoints. You get a pound of wings and fries for half price, which is only $9.50 after the discount. The wings are large and very juicy, Korean style fried chicken. They have a variety of sauces including Yang neom (sweet and spicy), honey garlic, boorinkle (cheese powder), Buffalo, and more. The Yang Neom is my favourite - but beware it can get quite spicy! There are three levels and the Spicy level is no joke. I like to get it Spicy with the sauce on the side for dipping, so I can keep my wings crispy throughout the whole meal. You need to get a drink to get the promotional price but you can just get a soda, and if you do decide to get an alcoholic beverage they're pretty reasonably priced. They also have a nice patio at front of the restaurant on the bottom level, though usually they don't seem to seat people there, they will if you ask them. read more

Their fried chicken is so tender and boneless, covered with sweet and spicy Korean sauce and the fragrance of honey, can't have enough once you've tried it. The buffalo chicken wing is a "hot" choice too, you can feel the spice dancing on your tongue and makes you crave more. Service here was standard, it was really busy during the time my coworkers and I went so we were lucky to be able to grab a table. Food was sub-par, all the accompanying dishes ( fries and cheese corn) were served way before the chicken, and were cold and soggy by the time chicken came. The chicken was ok, but not full taste. For a table of 6 it was communicated that we would be forced to tip on the bill. When the bill came it didn't have the tip built in, and they chose 18% on the machine ( which is after tax, so essentially 20%). The servers were never around, and didn't deserve 20% let alone 15%. The ambiance of the restaurant, music too loud, bathrooms are literally destroyed, disgusting, and completely out of repair. I do not recommend you go to this restaurant. Dakgogi, a Korean bar and late night spot, is located right across the street from the Wellesley subway station. It was the last stop on a mini food crawl for us and it happened to be Tuesday night, half price wing night. Yes! It was clear to see they'll have patio seating in warmer weather. Walking through the front door, the washrooms are at street level but require a combination to enter. You have to walk up the stairs to get to the main restaurant and then walk back down a few steps to get to the tables overlooking the patio and street. There were boxes of empty beer bottles lining the walls all over the place. I guess they sell lots of beer. We ordered a pound of wings with hot sauce on the side. It's half price on Tuesdays with the purchase of an adult beverage. The wings arrived, served with fries. Both were very crispy, just the way I like them. The thick hot sauce on the side kinda tasted like gochujang and it wasn't very hot. The wings were good naked, not needing any sauce but I dipped some fries in there and that wasn't bad. Good wings. The beer was served ice cold with a frosted glass. Nice! This place had the crappiest sound system I've heard in a while. It was loud and very distorted. The music selection was questionable and the song lyrics were unintelligible. Very annoying. This would actually prevent me from going back. Located across from Wellesley station, the entrance was a bit difficult to find since it's sort hidden down an aisle leading up to the apartment building. Once we finally found out way upstairs, we were lead to our seats, the greeter informed us that they will have to check our temperatures and we would have to provide our name and contact info. per COVID protocol. Had low blood sugar after parade, was not able to go else where due to road closure so I went in ordered fried chicken and coke and ask the waitress to serve the coke ASAP because the low blood sugar is making me really uncomfortable, I felt dizzy and nauseous. After hearing I am having low blood sugar the lady still taking her sweet time to logging in on their system while I was barely able to sit. I literally watching her took more than ten minutes doing things on their computer and then serving beer and other drinks to other table, and felt dying. After more than ten minutes my friend realized I was really sick and she asked the other waiter to bring the drink RIGHT NOW and I had to repeat several times that I need sugar immediately due to the low blood sugar, and I still saw him just walk slowly to the counter, took the drink out and then doing something else instead of hand me the drink right away. Food (3/5): Wings and fries were super crunchy and delicious (though they were stale when they got cold, but that's to be expected). I would highly recommend the 'medium' sauce, although it wasn't spicy at all and was more like your usual sweet and savory korean fried chicken sauce. 2 areas for improvement would be: 1) No side dishes were given. At the fry or at Mymy chicken, you get radishes and corn with your order 2) The padak wings barely had any sauce on it and didn't come with green onions. The chicken was so delicious, definitely. We also tried the kimchi fries. The price is understandable, and we split them to 4 so it wasn't so bad. However, waiters are rude. My friend wasn't used to giving tips, yet the waiter was getting angry over it. We forgot to let her know, and he was getting loud when he said "As I said, tips are not included in the receipt." This is a review on a delivered order. I live within a 5min local drive of the shop, but delivery just turned out to be the best solution that night! My ordering process was seamless - their menu on the ordering platform was clear and easy to follow, and I found what a wanted - a whole chicken half and half. Before social distancing we'd been eyeing the spot because we love Korean fried chicken! Expectations were of the norm - crispy fried chicken, classic sauces like soy garlic, sweet and spicy, that sort of thing. We went with a medium yangyeom half (think sweet and spicy) and padak half (think fried, then sweet soy with fresh spring onion on top). The spice was too much for me (oops - should've gone with mild!) but it smelled great! Saucy all over - just as expected. The padak required self assembly which is thoughtful to ensure the spring onion doesn't get soggy or wilted, and just what I was looking for. Unfortunately - there isn't much else to write home about. Nothing stood out, leaving me to think maybe I didn't order the signature items that should've wowed me. I ate the chicken, thought it wasn't worth the premium I paid (there's alternatives nearby), and forgot about it. I do wonder if the ambiance of the place would make up the experience, or just being recommended some things off the menu as opposed to going with a "safe basic" - unfortunately with the existing price tag I think I'll go with their competitors in town for now! read more

Went purposely for half price wings on a Tuesday.. Their patio didn't seem open, but they had indoor seating. Honestly, while it was likely the required distance apart from other tables, it still felt a bit cramped in the seating section which might make some people uncomfortable. With a drink purchase (which can be pop), the wings are a great deal. They have some more unique flavors, like soy, and we both received 6 rather large wings on somewhat soggy fries. The wings seemed to have extra crispness to them, which made them pretty delicious. Service was spotty, more on demand then checking in on us. Overall, not a bad experience and there are other things I would try on the menu. But the purpose, the wings, were pretty darn good. read more

I used to frequent this spot quite often when I lived nearby. One of my favourite Yang Nyeom chicken in particular is quite delicious.

Situated outside of Koreatown, this Korean fried chicken spot is apparently well known and was hyped by a work colleague, so after nearly having a heart attack watching my 49'ers beat the Seahawks, I figured I'd test my epicenter a bit more by having some fried chicken late at night. Important detail, this place is open until midnight every day. Fried chicken at 11:30pm? Yes please! The waitress is friendy even though we are arriving with 25 minutes to spare until closing and even gives us time to peruse the menu before choosing our chicken. We get the rice balls (Not sure where they got the idea for the name, it's more like a pancake) and they're delicious. Made of sticky rice, seaweed, fried chicken pieces and some spicy mayo drizzled in cross patterns, it does not disappoint. We then get the standard fried chicken and then another half of what i'd describe as spicy BBQ flavor. Both are really good. The batter for the standard doesn't pack as much flavor as a KFC, but is good and the chicken juicy. The BBQ is a messy project, but the taste is very good. Watch out for small bones in the chicken, but enjoy the chicken. Next time I think I'll try the wings. read more

They did not mention a word about the 1 lb chicken wings is actually chicken wings+fries, but just let us order extra fries. The most non-sense part was the tips are calculated for you, it is 17%, included in your bill. So I guess everyone would just pay for the 17% service fee, even if you are not satisfied with the service. Overall, I won't come to this place again. Disclaimer: I have only ordered delivery from this restaurant. I have however ordered quite a number of times and their yang nyum chicken is delicious. For better or worse, when I lived in Korea, fried chicken was a staple. Probably once per week. Probably hung over. This Korean friend chicken is authentic, cooked perfectly and so ooey-gooey good. The regular sauce has just the right amount of sweet/sour/heat. Feel free to kick the heat up a notch but it's great as it is. read more

You must order one drink per pound of wings on Tuesday which is pretty ridiculous when other wing night restaurants allow it without ordering any drinks. Also the padak wings is advertised that it comes with green onion and when asked, the waitress said "the padak doesn't come with green onions". Definitely won't be coming coming back. Go to Duffs, or St. Louise or Crown & Dragon for better wings. I absolutely loved it. If you have a craving for fried chicken - check out Dakgogi. I had their "Spicy hot" fried chicken wings. It was sweet with a slight tang as well. I had fries with it. Absolutely delicious & satisfying. Also fresh to order! Next time I am going to try their spicy soy garlic chicken which I know a lot of people order. They weren't even busy. Had 3 employees to serve the 4 tables on the patio. Indoor not even open due to COVID. Finally, after getting home I realized she overcharged me. The wings were fine. Terrible experience at this place, we came here on a Wednesday night and this male Korean worker came to us and he had the worst attitude towards us for the whole time, he was very disrespectful to us, when we came in he put us at a place with a leak on the roof and we asked him to switch seats, but he only said just move your seat over, there shouldn't be a leak, and then he kept cutting us off and saying "No" to us when we asked him questions about the food, and we waited over an hour just for fries and chicken. I would rate this restaurant a humble 3 stars because one of the dishes I had was amazing and the other was just okay. Anyone coming to this restaurant must try the bulgogi fries, they are epic. We ordered the sweet wings and they were pretty good but nothing memorable. The servers are friendly and attentive which was appreciated. Could be a fun place on a Friday night for drinks because of the holiday lights and loud music. Will definitely return but only for the bulgogi fries.
