I owe that guy a body part (pun intended) because as a single mom, I push my poor car past the point any car should go and usually end up at Dakota Ridge when something disastrous happens (eg. broken axel, broken undercarriage). The employees at Dakota Ridge are always understanding and never judgmental of my Traveling Toyota Trash Can (if you have two young kids, you know), give me timelines, text or call me back quickly, send me detailed inspections, and work with me to go over what is an immediate concern and what I can put off until my next disaster, I mean, oil change. I have been bringing my cars here for many years. Mostly preventive maintenance, but some major repairs. My Infinity had a radiator replaced last year, and then a few weeks ago, the water pump went out, which they replaced. It ran fine until yesterday when it overheated. I had it towed to them and they found the problem, fixed it, tested everything and warrantied all the work in less than a day. They even asked if they could reimburse my towing expenses! I asked them for a price. they won't do it and ask for inspection first for charge. I'm not gonna pay for inspection that I didn't ask for. They won't give me a price. that's insane and unacceptable their service. This place did such a good job with my car that it felt like a completely different car after driving it home. (I already knew my alignment was off but they also found issues with my suspension among other things). What's nice about how they operate is that they send a report with pictures that explains everything they looked at so you know exactly what's wrong and so you have that assurance that they're not trying to scam you. They do offer a car service so you have a way to get home or work and after hours they'll set up an Uber if you have somewhere you need to be- if they had to keep the car until the next day like they had to with mine. So we're sent a coupon for an oil change for $25- we make our appointment for 730am- and bring our car in- we left it overnight so it was the first one in. Come 11 am no call from the shop so we call. They say the car is ready but it needs this and it needs that... my husband lets them know we'll pass on anything outside of the oil change for now. The guy on the phone- Tim- responds by telling my husband to not bring our car back for an oil change if we won't let them do the suggested repairs. Wow. Send us a coupon and then chastise us for using it. I went to pick up the car because my husband was too irritated with this guy. I received a coupon for a free oil change from the car wash next door with a car wash package. I called and set an appointment and dropped my car off. Got a call from TJ and he informed me that it would be $69.95. I told him I had a coupon for a free oil change. He said well that will give you $10.00 off. I said, it's a free oil change and I know oil changes are not $10.00. He said send me a picture, I did and said I expect to pay for the up charge for synthetic oil. He explained it was too old and they wouldn't take my coupon even though there is no expiration date. He went on to explain that he can't believe in times like these I would take advantage of a small business like this. I explained I own a small business and I am feeling the pain just like he is, that's why I was so thankful I didn't have to pay $70.00 for an oil change right now. I asked him what he meAnt by "taking advantage"? He said if your not trying to take advantage just pay for your oilBy asking him to honor a coupon the car wash gave me I am taking advantage of him? Apologies this is so long.... but I feel like it is 100% necessary. Would give this 0 stars if I could. My partner took her vehicle in for an oil change. Before performing the oil change, they did a multipoint vehicle inspection, and told her she needs ~$6K in repairs. Ridiculous. Then they tried to tell her "well, if you take it to a jiffy lube or some other type of inexpensive place, you don't always get the best service and care". She has only ever taken it to a Jeep dealership before lol The only reason we tried this place was because we could not get into the jeep dealer before a road trip (and this place does have a lot of good reviews so I definitively was surprised with the care/service they extended to her). So, after we decide to only get the oil changed & coolant repaired (because there was a crack in it & did in fact need to be repaired ASAP), she immediately started having problems, other than the short drive home from their shop. We live very close to Dakota Ridge & she did not have to get on the highway so we are not sure if speed made a difference? Because the problem began on the highway. But a few days after the repair, she drove to work for the first time (she only works in the the office 1-2 days/week). She called me as soon as she made it saying her car was acting very strange, like the transmission was acting up. On her way home from work, she had more issues... SHE LITERALLY HAD TO THROW HER CAR IN PARK TO GET IT TO STOP. THE BRAKE WAS NOT RESPONDING. We contacted our insurance & tried to get it towed immediately to the jeep dealer. Unfortunately, we had to schedule the appt a week in advance and had to tow the car back to our home. When we finally got the report back from Jeep, we contacted Dakota Ridge. They had us send in the information & video evidence. Jeep found a yellow sponge lodged in the intake that was causing the issue. See pics. The jeep dealer said there was no way that could have got in there organically. I blotched out the link information because I don't want people having access to our personal information. TJ, of Dakota Ridge Auto, called my girlfriend back & tried to throw the blame on her. They also asked her why we didn't take it back to them to have it inspected.... I thought it was pretty logical to think that we would not ever go back to the place that idk... PUT MY PARTNER'S LIFE IN DANGER. Again, she literally had to throw her car into park to get her vehicle to stop. The brake did not respond. The only reason we reached back out to Dakota is because we were hoping they would take some responsibility and cover the repair bill from Jeep - but nope! It was a little more than $550. To an auto shop, that is nothing... I am sure this review will get reported and taken down but that is why I will be screenshotting this review as soon as I post it so I can repost it whenever I feel like it. You know... maybe we were just really unlucky but holy TJ... her car went into your shop & came out with a faulty throttle response system that could have ended with her and others being seriously hurt or worse. This is my last time going to Dakota Ridge Auto. I have been a customer for about three years and within the last year their treatment of me has really gone downhill. I was informed at one of my regular oil changes in Jan 2018 of maintenance that needed to be done on my car. I wasn't able to have most of that particular maintenance done at Dakota Ridge Auto due to cost (over $500), so I had experienced friends do it for me instead. When I came back to DRA for my next oil change I told this to Tim, one of the main guys at the front desk, and told him what maintenance work my friend had done. Well, Tim didn't seem too happy that someone else did the work for me. Ok, I get it: they're a business and I'm sure they can't keep their doors open based on oil changes alone. But I specifically told Tim I didn't have the money to have Dakota Ridge do the work for me and that my friends did it for free. Tim then went on to say that DRA wants to be my place for all my maintenance. Again, I get they need to make money as a business but I felt totally disrespected when he said this due to the fact that I told him I didn't have the money to have DRA do it, which is embarrassing enough to admit that I was broke. What was I supposed to do? Find money that I didn't have to have DRA do it to make them happy, or have my friend do it for free? Fast forward to a year later to another oil change. I needed my tires aligned, so I had DRA do that since none of my friends have the ability to do that. My car pulled to the right before the alignment, and it STILL pulls to the right. I even took my car in the very next day and told them it still pulled. They did something to the alignment, who knows what, and I was told it's fine now. It's not. It still pulls. It's crap. Talk about frustrating. I was also told at one point that a light needed to replaced in one of my headlights, but the light isn't even out. Why are they telling me to replace something that is still working?! Seems like they're just trying to find anything to replace to make a buck. Recently at my last oil change I was told I needed to get my rear brakes changed. I didn't have the time to get it done that day because I had to get to work. TJ, the manager, wouldn't take no for an answer. It was blatant that he wanted me to get the brakes done that day, or at least schedule an appt for it ASAP, and he didn't seem like he wanted to take "no" for an answer. It was very uncomfortable for me. I didn't want to schedule a future appt right then and there because my schedule is super busy and didn't know when a good time would be for me to not have my car. Again, I get they need to make business, but when I said I couldn't schedule due to work I felt disrespected again. I don't know if it's because I'm young and female, but I wonder if an older man said no if they would be just as persistent and aggressive. I was given an estimate of the brakes replacement along with new rotors. What? I need new rotors now? Why?? That wasn't explained to me. Due to my schedule my husband said he could change my brakes for me, and guess what- my rotors were just fine. No warping or grooves or indents in them. My car isn't even old anyway, so rotor replacement would be ridiculous. Seems like DRA was trying to find another way to make extra money for no reason. I'm just done with them. UPDATE: I understand my brakes needed to be changed, but what about them messing up my alignment??? Even after they fixed it my vehicle STILL pulled right. I took it to another shop to get it fixed and they said it was messed up pretty bad. So obviously your shop didn't do jack to my alignment earlier this year. What about Tim giving me a hard time for not getting work done at DRA?? And what about TJ being disrespectful to me and my schedule? And what about them saying that a headlight needed to be changed when it was perfectly fine and working well? You didn't address any of these things, Chris. read more

The problem they "fixed" has returned and now they're telling me that they can't help since I am 2,000 miles away and they would need to diagnose the problem. I was also told that I needed to have the vehicle inspected annually for the warranty to apply. That requirement was never mentioned and does not appear anywhere on my paperwork. read more

I took my car in for their coupon oil change service. They came back to me with about $1000.00 of repairs needed. I declined and just went with the oil change. I did research and looked into the "recommended" issues. After finding a trustworthy mechanic to take it to, they found about 60% of the recommended issues were not necessary. They also found that my transmission was overfilled with a suspect liquid which I still have a sample of. This overfill was potentially much more dangerous than a dry transmission. Now I cannot say that this was something Dakota Ridge did. But they did "Check all fluids" and yet somehow they did not catch this. This unfortunately seems that Dakota is either very Shady or Incompetent. Either way I would avoid taking your vehicle to them. I know I will never return and I wouldn't let them work on my bicycle. read more

I can't say enough nice things about Dakota Ridge Auto. I started going there after feeling like I was being taken advantage of and another local auto repair shop and I'm so glad I made the change! TJ and Travis and all of the staff there are so patient and explain everything very thoroughly. They are really realistic and know you can't always record a repair and don't push you to do anything you can't afford. I came here to get an oil change a few weeks ago as it's very close to my house and convenient to walk home during Covid (my regular shop is far away and I'm working from home so wanted something closer). I got an oil change here a few years ago and found it to be a fine experience. I got a call later in the day with a list of 4 urgent items to address, gave me a very approximate quote of 2k+ and expressed serious concern about the safety of me driving the car. As I had had quite a bit of work done with my regular shop in the fall, I was surprised to hear this, and asked if I could receive details and a quote for the work suggested. I mentioned I had just had a bunch of work done so wanted to check with regular shop about things being under warranty with them first before making any decisions (some of the items sounded like things I had more recently done but I wasn't sure). The response was somewhat on the rude side, something to the effect of well we are not going to write up a quote if you are just going to do the work somewhere else. Which I understand can be frustrating but also - all I asked you all to do was an oil change, I didn't come here with any concerns or questions for a full inspection. It would be crazy of me to not check if any of that work was under warranty, and if you don't want to give me a price quote for what you are recommending, then okay, why, you don't think your pricing will be competitive if I can look into it? I didn't expect the half rude accusatory tone as if I had done anything wrong here other than try to give you business with an oil change. So I was already feeling like this experience made me feel icky, I am probably not going back but whatever. However, I did want to send in a review today as I was just able to get my car checked with my regular spot. I brought in the printed out report of urgent items (with pictures) from Dakota Ridge. 3 of the 4 items they said are barely issues, but not safety concerns, and not necessary to complete at this time. The 4th item, they actually had done 2 years ago and they said it still looked perfect and they are not even sure where the associated picture came from because they didn't even think it was from my car! To sum it up, they recommend no work at all now, ($0 bill), no safety concerns, and just that I should get struts done when I can in the next year. I am so happy that I choose this place when my "check engine" light came on. Granted, everything was leaking in my engine and I had to bite the bullet on some large repairs, but somehow I emerged from that experience feeling confident and taken care of. It was because of the amazing staff and service of this place that I didn't feel too burdened by my car's misfortune. Dakota Ridge made sure I understood everything that was going on with my car, sent me pictures and videos to show the extent of what was going wrong, and took the time to speak to me, explaining what went wrong, what I can watch out for, and just general information about my car. Shout out to Tim for talking to me like I actually know a little bit about the inner workings of my car (which I do) instead of treating me like a young blonde woman who is absolutely clueless and could never understand car care (which I get a LOT). Dakota Ridge was OVER communicative in a good way! I got a text after the initial inspection with pictures and video of what the inspection had uncovered, a call after that to walk through the repairs and estimate, and a real discussion about what needed to be repaired immediately and what I could wait 8 months to repair while I saved up some money, a text when the technician started the repairs, a call every time they ran into something unexpected in the repairs in order to keep me informed of the hiccups and possible changes to the estimate, and a call/text when my car was ready to pick up. They offer a lovely shuttle service to get you from your house to the shop so you don't have to Uber or beg a friend for a ride. And when I got in my car after all had been repaired there was a lovely note from the technician and a bag of popcorn as thanks for bringing my car to them (very nice touch!). I am so impressed with Dakota Ridge and have consistently had a very positive experience as they have worked on my car. I just picked up my car from Dakota Ridge following an oil change and inspection. Tim was extremely helpful from start to finish. He was so good about keeping me informed with their progress. He sent me a complete inspection report with their recommendations including a break down of the "urgent musts"and the "needs attention soon" and an estimate for repairs. It even included some pictures to show me what they were seeing.)When I called to authorize the work, Tim was, again, very helpful in discussing the most affordable and best way to proceed, offering discounts and special deals where applicable. Wow, seems like a lot of drama going on in other reviews. This is one of the tough things about Yelp, anyone can post anything about a business. And more often than not, it's just drama and wanting to damage reputations out of spite. Are auto repairs cheap? Not if you have something big going on and not if you want the work done properly. I've learned that lesson the hard way. Anyhoo, I digress because I was completely shocked that my experience was so much different than what I'm seeing here. I came in primarily for an oil change but had questions about my brakes which were vibrating more than a little when coming to a stop. After the techs completed the oil change, they took a look at my brakes. Turns out it was warped rotors, which I had been suspecting. Before making the necessary repairs, they answered my questions and explained everything in detail, including all costs, parts needed, even fees and taxes. It was in line, even less than I was expecting, so I gave them the green light to take care of everything. Out the door, I paid a great price with no surprises and certainly none of the drama anyone is talking about here. My truck is running perfectly and the brakes are as smooth as butter. Even went up into the mountains a couple weekends ago and had a near miss with some ding-dongs who clearly have no business driving in any other conditions than warm weather and dry roads. Brakes performed perfectly and without the vibration happening, I felt a lot safer. Bonus...very clean shop, even the bathrooms. I can't tell you how grossed out I get going to a shop only to find the toilet seat up and sprinkles everywhere. This kind of attention to detail gets a big thumbs up in my book. read more

This was my second time going here. My first experience wasn't the best but they were close to home and convienent so I figured I would give them another shot. I was having the exact same issue with my truck one year ago that I'm having with it right now, brought it in and told the mechanics what was going on and what they did last time to fix it. Left my truck there overnight and all day, and went back to pick it up after work when they told me they couldn't find anything and we're guessing that it was an intake leak which would cost about $900 to fix. So I paid the $125 for them to run their "tests" and left. I went and got a second opinion from another mechanic, after about five minutes they had narrowed down the issue to something completely different then what Dakotah ridge auto told me. This new trustworthy mechanic descovered 2 possibilities And the repair would only cost me $40. So now I am going to do this repair myself after throwing away $125 at dokotah ridge auto. I'll never go back and regret even giving them a second chance. Sucks to get taken advantage of and I will make sure to tell everyone I know In the area to avoid this place at all costs. Update: I wanted to make sure that I had completely resolved the issue before I posted an update. So like I had said in my original review, I went ahead and did the repairs to my vehicle. I spent a fraction of what Dakota Ridge auto quoted me and my vehicle has been running flawlessly. Also to go along with that after I had posted my original review one of the Front desk people at dakota Ridge auto called me and basically bribed me that if I had removed my review they would refund me for the diagnostic charge I had paid initially. I'm guessing this was because he knew what a joke of a shop they were running and didn't want someone sharing it with the world. I went ahead and removed the review from google and got my money back but I had completely forgotten that it automatically had posted to Yelp reviews. Overall I did get my money back for their diagnostic fee and I went to head and did the repairs on my own for a fraction of the cost. I'm very disappointed that after an oil change they recommended I replace my passenger axle that would cost over $800. I have a warranty thankfully that covers it, but when I brought it into the dealership they showed me while the car was up that there are no leaks and nothing wrong with any axles. It's in fact an oil leak or residual from the service Dakota provided. It's never a good feeling to be a woman and be taken advantage of like that. I will never return. read more

After exchanging some emails with Dakota Ridge Complete Automotive, I'm adding an update to what I wrote below. The gist of their first reply to my email was that these charges are "industry standard". My response was that the total price would have been OK with me if they had just told me up front. I gave an example that my wife suggested: If you had a coupon for a meal for a given price at a restaurant, and they surprised you at the end with a "kitchen fee", wouldn't you feel cheated? I also lectured a bit that if this is considered "industry standard", it is no wonder that so much of the public has a low opinion of auto repair shops. A newly opened business has an opportunity to do better, and win lots of customers in doing so. Anyway, their last email to me said that they will be changing all future advertising to mention the fee. So maybe they will help to raise the bar. I've added an extra star. Dakota Ridge is running a pretty shoddy operation. I explained my issue to the people working there 3 different times and in great detail - basically, that my AC belt was squealing along a pulley and I wanted to know why. Despite the fact that my AC unit doesn't even run off of the serpentine belt, they insisted that the issue would be fixed by replacing a tensioner on the serpentine belt, which they said had been installed improperly by someone else (this escaped their notice during an earlier "comprehensive" review of the belts a couple months before). They had my car for a few days and then told me that everything was fixed. IMMEDIATELY upon driving off, the belt squealed as loud as ever. They had clearly not taken the time to accurately diagnose the issue. Overall, the competence of their techs and/or ability to listen to their customers is questionable. Beware of the inspection they claim to be doing as part of their oil change special - I'm not sure they even look at all the stuff they say they're inspecting. read more

Long story short, I'll never have this shop touch another one of my autos ever again. I was out of the country when a family member was driving my auto and the transmission went to pot. Threw the truck on a tow and based on a referral the auto ended up here. Again, I didn't have much choice in the matter as cell coverage was limited in my location at the time. I told the family member to quarterback the situation, and with a referral to the shop, from another I felt comfy. My directions to the family member was to fix what's wrong and have the shop go through the auto so there are no additional problems for the foreseeable future. I received the bill of $4,500 which included a rebuilt transmission (with a 24k mile warranty), oil change, differential flush and fill, spark plugs and wires, fuel system service which included the fuel filter. and filled the fuel tank. One of my major concerns was the transmission rebuild. When I got back to town I asked the manager why a GM OEM transmission wasn't ordered (which provides a 100k mile warranty) at a cheaper price than the rebuild. The response and I quote "I guess we didn't think about that." So i get my auto back and the check engine light is on and the car is running like complete hell. The guys at the shop tell me now that the car needs an additional $1,300 worth of work...Weren't my instructions to go through the car to avoid problems? Didn't I pay $4,500 for service? Now you want more? Of course. I took the car to my normal wrench and has the thing running as good as new for less than $400. Decide for yourself, but I'll NEVER go back and I am making it a point to let everyone know about my experience. read more

I've had the oil changed a few times, minimizing the cost with a coupon. For $25 + shop fees ($30 in all), they changed the oil, performed a 32-point inspection, rotated the tires, and washed my car. Where can you do better? The only negative is it takes five hours to do the inspection. I appreciate the thoroughness, but it's awfully inconvenient to lose the car for almost a whole business day to change the oil. If they could speed that part up, They'd be in the five-star range. I would not recommend coming to Dakota Ridge for any of your car needs. Every time I brought my car in to Dakota Ridge they would fix it and something else wibe broken. I have I had several occasions where I've asked them to fix the part or piece that they broke in my car for a discount and or for a warranty. And they said it was not their fault. Their customer service was awful. I would not recommend anyone goes here for their auto shop needs needs. Every time I left their shop I left pissed off and very unhappy. read more

Do not take your vehicle here. Had them work on my air conditioner less than 3 years ago including replacing the condenser. The condenser tube now has a hole in it from rubbing on the frame due to the poor installation. It should be under warranty but I was told I would have to pay a diagnostic fee and then they would decide if it was actually covered. Pretty open ended. read more

My daughters car broke down in Littleton. She took it to Dakota Ridge Auto. We got the call, alternator, valve gasket, (that caused the alternator to fail ) replacement, tires, brakes, rotors... OMG, we didn't fall off the turnip truck. The car was towed down the road to Christian Bros. The diagnosis, need an alternator. No belt, no valve gasket, no oil on the alternator, and cost 1/2 the price of Dakota Ridge Auto. I agree...run, run, run. Disgusting. read more

This was my first time getting an oil change here and the team was very friendly and thorough. A shuttle service is offered to take you home while your car is in the shop and I was texted a detailed report of my car with photos before picking it up so I could decide if I wanted anything else done. Run Run Run! This place is so shady and they WILL try to rip you off. Typical bait and switch tactics with so called coupons, as well. AND they're rude to top it off. They told us our car needed over $2,000 in repairs. We took our cars to 2 other reputable auto repair shops for 2nd and 3rd opinions that told us the same thing without knowledge of what Dakota Ridge was quoting. Their diagnoses/quotes were only minimal repairs needed for around $100. I find it odd that everyone who posts a poor review has the same complaints. They have a very poor reputation in this community based on these bad reviews and for example, people on Nextdoor. They also charge you over $100 just to tell you your car needs unnecessary repairs. They'll try to say that "we just want to properly diagnose your car", but like I said MANY others seem to get the same bad diagnosis around the same insane amount only to find out these so called necessary repairs are bogus. *Update: You had my previous review deleted for no good reason, other than you were trying to hide your shortcomings as a business. I updated it to meet the guidelines. You know that we were a customer, that's a flat out lie. People need to know how you operate. Look at your other reviews. TJ and Tim are the two gentlemen I continually run into contact with. They are both very polite and very helpful. The few interactions I have had with the mechanics themselves have also been pleasant and helpful. I have had several issues with my car and been needing to do things under warranties and such. (I basically need a frequent flier card) They have been more than willing to help me get those done as well as to wait on the phone for warranty companies. They have consistently taken very good care of me and have earned my continued business and trust with my vehicles. They call me with what updates they have and keep me in the loop while my vehicles are in their shop. I will continue to return to them for issues that I have arise in the future. read more

Looking for an auto repair shop you can trust? Keep looking, don't stop here.I really wanted to like this place. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I am polite and courteous every time I go it. I just can't do it anymore. Either improve your customer service or improve your time estimates and I'd be happy to change this review. Until then, I'm done. Our first time I called and made an appointment but decided not to have work done. I didn't want to waste their time when I had already made an appointment. It took them FIVE HOURS even though I already had an appointment. Whatever, maybe they were really busy? Second time, I took my car in for a repair (an actual repair this time) and dropped it off at 8 am. At 6 pm they called to tell me they didn't have the part for it and would have to order it. I agreed and they said they'd call me when it came in. *silence* I waited 6 days for them to call and decided to call myself. When I called they said they hadn't ordered the part yet, and couldn't do it because there was a holiday this week. When they received the part (2 weeks later!) there was no apology or even acknowledgement of what had happened! Last week, I had an appointment to have my brake light checked. I dropped it off in the morning again and the guy told me it was probably a bulb or a fuse. I said that was fine, I didn't have to work until early that evening. A few hours later I called to see how it was going. The response I got was "We're working on other cars right now." Are you kidding me!?!?!? SEVEN HOURS after I had dropped off my car they tell me they don't have the part. read more

Old car..? Don't bother with these people. They could not put a single exhaust on a 71 stock Chevrolet. Repeat- they couldn't do it. Said it was rusty. Guess they don't have a wire brush. They are parts changers! read more
