Service: was better than your average restaurant. The wait staff was very mindful of the dinners. It was not too busy so I am not sure how the service may change during a dinner rush, but overall I was satisfied. Friendly waiters, and knowledgeable of their menu. Food: was disappointing. I did not have very high hopes, as it seemed to be located in an unfavorable place in town. I ordered the rib eye, which was a sad quarter inch cut with a potion of the cut removed from the meat to be used for something else I imagine, and also Very under seasoned. The spare ribs were slightly undercooked and also under seasoned. The salad and BBQ beans were very average, but better than the meat that was served. Ambience: was a dated country look that defiantly could use a little cleaning up. Overall: service was the only notable thing about Dales BBQ South. The food is lesser quality than what you may pickup from the frozen goods section of your local grocery store, and besides the hardwood interior there is nothing that says BBQ restaurant. I love this place! So does everyone else, which is why it is ridiculously busy during lunch. With that being said, when I was in there a few weeks ago I couldn't believe how fast they were cleaning up tables and getting the next group seated! Still might be easier to order ahead and pick up at the drive thru if you're on a time constraint but they really try to get you in and seated asap. The staff has always been pleasant and the prices are super reasonable. I like that they have smaller portions on the menu as well. read more

I prefer Dale's West but Dale's South will always do in a pinch. The food is the same but the atmosphere is just different there. The sauce and the pork are still uber delicious and shouldn't be missed if you're in Fort Pierce for some reason. read more

Nothing fancy here but it's comfortable. Obviously a local favorite. I found the BBQ Baby Back ribs good, but not great. Sides were good. Service was almost friendly and it was efficient. I might try some other menu items if I'm in the area again. read more

I thought the barbecued pork sandwich was very good. It came with fries and I chose beans for a side. The beans were mediocre at best and I was expecting more than the 1 tablespoon serving size. It came in a paper cup typically used for ketchup at fast food restaurants. The other 3 people I dined with ordered ribs and liked them, but gave the sides just an average grade. We all agreed that the seating was unusually uncomfortable, even for a casual barbecue restaurant, and that we would not return. read more

Ok so even my mom doesn't love dales. Not the last problem with mom, just stopped in this past weekend and you know! The Q was as good as it gets, dip your fries in the beans and hello friend. Sweet tea was awesome, the Coleslaw is very yummy too! I am a creature of habit so one pulled pork sandwich and one beef sandwich, however I got two jumbo, usually it's one Jumbo and one large. Should have ALL FIVE STARS!! My boyfriend and I come into sales at least a few times a month, we would go everyday if we could afford it! The food is amazing! The sauces are one of a kind! I get the small pork special every time and it's always tasty. The ladies that serve us as well are such a pleasure to be around and see every time we go in to eat. They are very sweet and attentive. Dale's BBQ is an old Fort Pierce staple. I love going in with my children and eating great bbq. The service is great.

They used to the most amazing BBQ place around and they suck anymore! I order pickup atleast once a week and now it's gone down hill every time I order my meal is completely messed up and they forget to put BBQ sauce in the bag who forgets to put BBQ in a bag of BBQ food like really! Like many things that used to be good...but aren't anymore...sad! i grew up here and we were long time regulars, I mean 30 plus years. My last visit was the last straw. I ordered a steak and got gristle! Now bad as it seems for the cook to send that crap from the kitchen, Worse was the reaction to my complaint! Rude denial and disdain that i would actually complain about it!! No "I'm sorry, let me get you another....no "let me take that off your bill". I couldn't believe it, and will never go back! The price for the quantity of food brought of was horrible. Then a staff member came up to the table claiming my brothers car was blocking people from coming into the establishment and that they were getting complaints from their other customers. This sounded odd considering I followed my brother in (I was driving a sedan and had plenty of room to go around his trailer), and then demanded my brother go out and move his vehicle. My brother didn't even try to argue, just left his meal that he didn't even get to start and moved his car. He was so upset he didn't even come back in to eat his food. When I went up to talk to manager and get his meal taken off the ticket, the two staff members completely changed their stories. Saying he was in a " no parking zone" (which he wasn't). Then we had the eat the rest of our meal being stared at while the staff members whispered about the whole situation. Completely unprofessional. The manager never even introduced herself. read more

This place sucks these days. The bbq pork sandwich combo sucks. Sure the price is moderate at just $6, but you get very little pork, about 3 ounces of meat. They are incredibly skimpy on the sides as well. I got a side of beans and I couldn't have gotten more than 1 cup of beans. Lol read more

I've been eating at Dale's since 1981. The place is great. Service it quick and friendly. Stick with pork, the beef is not good. The guy from New York that wrote a review got beef, pork is the BBQ of choice in Florida. A Super Pork Special is $6.50. For that you get a big pork sandwich, great fries, coleslaw (put it in the sandwich) and a giant drink. read more

I actually ate at Dale's Bar-B-Q West - I believe the work bar-b-q should be removed from their name - I had the beef platter and my wife got the beef sandwich- the meat was a bit dry but they give you a large soda. Their bar-b-q sauce appears to be muster base and resembles nothing like bar-b-q sauce. If you want traditional bar-b-q you need to avoid this place. read more

Went there on a business luncheon today. Ordered smoked half chicken with green beans and mac and cheese. The chicken had a greyish appearance, the skin was soggy and the meat was like rubber and dry. Meat seamed really old and/or over cooked. Either way, the type of the chicken meat their buying from their food distributor is low quality. Green beans were mushy and had a chemical like season on them and the mac n cheese seemed old or over-microwaved. I took ONE bite of everything and sent it back. The customers looked all low-income and I seen a lot of obese people stuffing their faces. Only reason this place is still in business is because lower operating expense in Fort Pierce and no competition and is one of the few bbq places in town. Simply put, the local redneck customer's do not know any better. This place would never survive in SOUTH Florida. I wonder if they get their meat from the low-quality Dutch Reformed owned Gordon Food Service in Grand Rapids, MI. read more

On road trips I have passed Dale's neon sign many times and always wanted to stop in for what looks like a longstanding hickory smoked barbecue institution. . It is but I have no idea why it is still standing. Some of the reviewers here must be hypnotized because Dales was just plain meh. Lets see, a small portion of barely warm steak fries, a small portion of old mac n cheese, a small portion of thankfully good baked beans. We both had a rack of baby back ribs that were rubbed well and hickory smoked nicely but those just were not good quality racks so even good cooking technique couldn't save them. The Rib City franchises use a much better quality and meatier rack. No comparison. Overall the food was absolutely nothing that would have a Q-hound itching to go back there. The glorious picture that the locals are painting of this place is absurd. It's just a very mediocre Q restaurant with small portions. Both sides of the location have huge car lots now so even that woodsy charm that it once had is long gone. Years of wanting to roll in there ended with me easily deciding that I won't go back.
