They wanted to make sure it did not get frozen if it was being used right away. He advised fresh and commented at what good customer service it was to make the distinction. We went together for pick up. The person who helped us when through the entire smoker bundle to show us the contents and then got the rib roast. Everything was well packaged and arranged. Even though it was the Friday before a religious holiday, and many folks were picking things up, it did not take long for us to get our order, pay and be on our way. When I walked it I was absolutely assaulted by the incredible smells of various meats/smoked meats. I was welcomed into the store like I had been a customer for a decade. The place is absolutely spotless and in anything dealing with food, that's an absolute necessity. I walked around and picked out some brawts that looked incredible, some sour dough crackers and some beef jerky. This store even has specialty meat and bone treats for your dog. Of course, I feed my dogs better than I feed myself so I had to buy them a few things. I walked it to check it out and walked out with a hundred dollars worth of stuff. This place was amazing and I simply cannot believe I didn't know it was there. It's all of two miles from my front door. I will surely be back as they have all sorts of stuff I want to try.

Located in the red rocks south west of denver, this restaurant has been around for over 60 years and seats over 300 indoor and outdoor with tons of space and room to seat large groups, events or intimate twosomes. There is a Cantina which was recently remodeled but we never went in there. Seemed like a popular spot as well. Service is great and personable. Not too much and not too little. It's modeled after a real historic fort in southern Colorado and brings a definite southwest vibe. Service is very spot on for a restaurant of this caliber. Food is great and priced to come with high expectations for quality and taste which I think they delivered on. Steaks were huge and cooked perfectly. Sides and any number of options available but I just like horseradish with my ribeye. Salads and appetizers were great. Table was swamped at one point and staff was great to help manage things so that you were not feeling awkwardly limited. Drinks came fast and delivered on expectations including ordering a Jim Bridger which is no longer on the menu but available for locals who care. Dessert was so good and wow, enough for four people to share. Also, bread was on the table and delivered hot and fresh. From start to finish we had a fantastic experience. Highly recommend The Fort.

After leaving a concert downtown, hoping to wait out traffic and the ride-share pick up craze- my husband and I wanted to get a quick bite and a drink. There were not many places open past 11pm on a Sunday, let alone serving food. I also came to the unfortunate realization that many of the late night places I use to frequent downtown have closed permanently since quarantine. While walking, I spotted Appaloosa from the corner of my eye. Lo & behold, not only were they open, but the menu was posted on the door with their late night hours going until 1 am. Though I had been before, I was not sure what the hours were, or if the kitchen was open late. We walked in and were greeted by live music and a friendly host. No cover charge, just a quick peak at the I.D. We sat at the bar while the band played jazz that added to the ambiance. Our bartenders were attentive and gave great conversation. We were immediately given menus and asked what we would like to drink. Katelyn took our food order promptly, and she was also funny and charismatic. We ordered the birria tacos, and they were absolutely amazing. The consommé was flavorful and bright, and the birria itself was tender and juicy. The food was so fantastic we forgot about our drinks! Appaloosa was the perfect way to wrap up the weekend, and we will be coming back very soon!
