Fantastic meal and service. The atmosphere of this place is amazing and the food was delicious. We ordered only tapas and had grilled lamb, saffron scallops, mushrooms, and probably the best gazpacho I have ever had. The food comes out in waves and the waiters ask if you are ready for the next portion. They space it out for you and recommend what to start with etc. So many menu options so hopefully the next time I go my meal will be just as great if not better! read more

Not often I can find nothing wrong with a meal and a restaurant experience. Dali was excellent. From the atmosphere to the wonderful beer and wine list. I recommend the 1906 beer! Our server was knowledgeable and offered som suggestions we loved. Must get is the tenderloin steak and the cockles. The fried cheese with the onion jam was a great starter. Overall great dining experience. This is the most authentic Catalonia-style tapas place that I have been able to find in the Boston area (much better than Barcelona Wine Bar, and much less pretentious, in my opinion). The ceviche was especially impressive, though all of our food was delicious (slight exception being the gorditas - bacon-wrapped prunes - the bacon was a bit thin and its taste fell flat). The chicken croquetas were the best I've ever had. The atmosphere also deserves mention - it was cozy without being too small, and quiet enough to hear conversation at the table, even as the restaurant filled up to about 75%. I love that the waitstaff speak Spanish and are all extremely friendly. I will be back, can't wait to try new tapas! read more

A few friends went there for a birthday celebration and were blown away by the quality of the food. The flavors of each dish were unique and satisfying. We felt like we could easily spend the entire night there sampling their vast menu. We tried the gazpacho, cauliflower and broccoli puffs, eggplant crepes, the shrimp in garlic sauce, mussels stuffed with mushroom, artichokes stuffed with mushrooms, chicken kabobs, and a few desserts. Each dish was uniquely flavored and very satisfying. The plates are small - so do keep that in mind. However if you're going there for quality over quantity, you wont be disappointed. The staff was warm and genuine. No one rushed us and we left 2 hours later feeling very satisfied. Vegetarians - this place is also for you. I managed to get a reservation on a Saturday night. Fortunately, without knowing, it was from the owner. So you may have to wait. So walk around a little.The second challenge was parking, but then again, I was saved. So, arrive early. Everyone was friendly and welcomingly. I mentioned to the hostess I wanted to thank the owner, and she immediately walked me over to him. Even though the wait staff were super busy, they were never busy when they were answering questions and giving suggestions. They even took the time to sing happy birthday to individual patrons and seemed happy to do so. The atmosphere was wonderful, yes it was a bit noisy but everyone was having a good time. Dali, what have you done??? Your food used to be great, with really authentic flavors and very high quality. The classics, like patatas ali oli, were as good as anything in Spain and your gambas al ajillo were the best anywhere. This last visit everything was.....well...bad. The potatoes had a weird taste with too many mixed spices, some non-potato vegetable chunks, and were icy cold. The tortilla was soggy, the gambas were mushy and watery with little garlic, and the "grilled" bread was burned and oily. Please go back to your original quality. Happy to pay the prices for that but not for these new versions that are just a mishmosh of too many flavors in one dish and poor quality. We love the real Dali. Where is it hiding? read more

My daughter and I went here for dinner. The restaurant is lovely and the food is pretty good, but our service was really slow. We had to ask for water and we still didn't get it right away. Our waiter forgot our last dish and we had to remind him that we ordered it! Come here if you have plenty of time- if you were in a schedule like we were, it was a bit frustrating. Next time I will sit at the beautifully tiled bar and perhaps our service will be better. read more

I like going to Dali but the past couple of times we've had to wait so long and then felt rushed once we got seated. I love this place. Their lamb is delicious. They make a drink called the Hemingway. Everything is red and atmospheric. They serve a mojito made out of absinthe. I've been here over the years probably six or seven times: mostly dates, a couple small parties. Every time was terrific. Especially the dates. The whole restaurant is an aphrodisiac. My sole critique: they could really tone down the birthday singing. I get it for kids and sweet old people. But I think when some schlub turns 36 you should just hand him a candle and something with gin. I highly recommend this place. read more

Dali's an absolute gem in the middle of Cambridge. This whole neighborhood is getting more choices all the time, many of them in that hipster/trendy fashion, but Dali offers something richer and more authentic. The food is incredible (it's a hard sell, but my mother declares it "the best meal [she's] ever had"). But what really gets it for me is the atmosphere - the character of it. Despite the unpleasant waitress who spilled wine on my friend's brand new skirt and then handed her a stain remover/masker to clean it up without any apologies, the food and sangria were excellent. I hadn't been to Dail in about 10 years and was looking forward to enjoying some tapas with my fiancee' there. We arrived at about 5:30 so they had just opened. The sat us in the back seating area and it smelled really funny, like a dirty mop or some sort of stagnant water. We requested to be moved to the front room and that was better (although the temperature was colder than the back room). We ordered the salted fish (striped bass) and it was very delicious. We also ordered the rabbit (overpowered by the sauce...it may as well been chicken!), the sardines (very good but only 7 or 8 sardines for $8?!?!?!?), the beef short ribs (not bad but a little dry) and the pork sausage with figs. The sausage was okay but how can they justify charging $7.50 for a single small sausage cut in half and one half of a fig? I understand that tapas aren't always cheap but I really don't expect to be taken advantage of on the value for $. The ambiance was funky and decor was okay. Our waitress was fine although the waiter for the table behind us was explaining the menu and culinary influences that went into some of the dishes and that sounded like a lot of fun (and educational). Our waitress was less helpful but still attentive. Wine was reasonable and we had a nice bottle of garnacha for around $30. Overall I was not too pleased and probably will go to Toro or Tapeo next time since we enjoyed the food there more previously. read more

First walking in the impression is that it is an ornately decorated smaller restaurant with bartenders in frilly shirts and donning a shimmering brooch. The warmth and friendliness of the staff sets the mood off right as you prepare to experience some familiar flavors arranged in a unique way. If you're looking for a quaint and intimate evening I would recommend trying to eat in one of the first two dining rooms if you're in a larger slightly louder group the back room is probably what you're looking for. The menu offers an impressive assortment of meats, seafood, cheeses and vegies served in multiple fashions and it would be hard to not find a half dozen or more options that pique your interest. My personal favorites were easily the lamb meatballs with a fresh tomato sauce and mint infusion as well as the Patatas Bravas, perfectly tender cuts of potato roasted and drizzled with a aiole that is so amazing that I could have eaten like a soup, Queso de Cabra Montaes with a rich baked cheese that is perfectly cut with the perfect acidity of a fresh tomato sauce that all envelopes the crostini served with it giving it a nice crunch to round out the experience perfectly. I cannot emphasize enough that you should reach for the edge of your comfort zone and try things that might sound a bit risky because you will not be disappointed. read more

Open 7 days a week, late night menu, great service in most cases. I had to reduce my rating, unfortunately... the food is not as great as it used to be, or maybe it was a bad day... and also, the new bartender does not understand English that well and I have heard him saying that they only have one shrimp dish... not true. Well, he is not there every day. Weekends are very busy there, but don't let the 2 hours wait scare you off. The same menu is served at the bar, maybe even faster. Start eating before you fill yourself up with Sangria. Ask for bread, it comes with a chick pea garlic spread and tapas come on small plates, very easy to eat while standing as well. The atmosphere is great, even if you come on your own. You feel welcome, any time. The menu: lots to choose from, but I would go with the hard cover one. Monthly specials are not as good from my past experience except the Baked Apple stuffed with ground pork and spicy sour cream sauce. My favorites from the regular, classic menu are: grilled prawns with coarse salt (gambas alla plancha); chicken crockett (I like the sauce); rabbit in the red wine sauce; saffron scallops (cream sauce); goat cheese with tomato sauce (very mild, mixed with cream cheese) patatas bravas (I ask to make it well done). Wait list hint: they won't give you a table unless everybody present and beepers are not coming anytime soon; when checking on your "progress" make sure to say the name on the list, the number of people in the party and where are you planning to wait. Alright, this is the first Yelp review I'm writing. I just can't help myself because I was really looking forward to my first Dali experience. It was recommended by several opinionated friends and food-enthusiasts, and favored here on Yelp. I know I am in the minority on this one, and I am very sorry to have to say this, but I was reaaaally disappointed. The ambiance is truly cool, no doubt - and the sangria is pretty tasty, but I found the food lacking. I ordered the duck dish with berry sauce - Pato Braseado, and I found the sauce overpoweringly sour. I also found the duck exceedingly tough, and had to drop out of conversation so that I could concentrate on cutting off a bite. What's up with that? I sampled the scallop and saffron cream dish - Vieiras al Azafran, which tasty, but it was all sauce and the scallops were meager. The best thing I ordered was a cold potato salad - Patatas Ali-Oli, which was garlicky, creamy, and had pleasing crunchy bits of fresh scallions. I was just bummed that the only thing I liked were potatoes... can't just have potatoes for dinner when you're out on the town and spending over 20 bucks. Actually, I even thought that the bread we got served was a bit stale, and that the hummus-esq spread we got was chalky - but it was free, so I should probably shut up about that. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dishes? Perhaps it was an off night in the kitchen? Sad. I might go back for drinks because it is so cool looking inside. read more

Oh dear. Where do I start? I have dutifully attended MANY friends' dinners here since the millennium. Nevermind the greasy little plates of shrapnel they serve or the thrown together sangria (my dog could make a more flavorful batch), it's the dreadful waitstaff I'm here to review. It is important to note that several of the waitstaff appear not to be from Spain but pretend they are. Picture Borat with a precariously balanced tray of 90 drinks doing his best Sevillano accent and you get the drift. This fact alone gives it a cheesy Disney theme restaurant feel (N.B. I have never been to Disneyland but imagine that's how it is). At one birthday dinner, the guest of honor had several drinks over the course of many hours, and the waiter (who had been encouraging the consumption) had the audacity to suggest he had overindulged. Mind you this was after he had been given a massive tip and treated really well all evening. Then, several weeks later when my friend returned to the restaurant for a different event, the waiter called out to him and said "oh you're the one who likes to drink!". He was shocked and mortified and could not believe this had happened. Because of this complete lack of respect, my friends and I plan never to return to this tragic theme restaurant. read more

amazin tapas.....the Garlic Shrimp and Chicken Croquetes are my favs......Definately get a pitcher of the sweet and refreshing Sangria...cool spanish infused atmosphere with rich tones of red and amber sooth your senses...and spanish music from the famous gypsykings will often please your ears..Extremely cozy, warm and inviting...Staff is extremely personable and attentive....be prepared to wait even on weekdays....Great for a Romantic evening too...Grab a seat...and Enjoy....Salute !!. read more
