    Chicken sandwich
    Hana J.

My absolute favorite restaurant in all of Boston! Used to live right he across the street from here and was always stoked for their chicken sandwich days. They're so good I've driven out from NYC just to get them. I've only had the pleasure of coming here for chicken sandwiches, lemonade, and their sweets but it's truly something magical. Everyone who works there is incredibly nice and great at what they do! The restaurant lay out is so wonderful and is really just the perfect place to enjoy a meal. I can't wait for my next opportunity to be back!

We had the most magical dinner at Asta last night. The weather spoiled us and gave us an impromptu private dining experience. Shish and Nora our wonderful host for the evening pampered us with otherworldly wine pairings.....and the food!! The chefs beautifully showcased late winter vegetables....don't sleep on the lovingly prepared pile of cabbage. Can't wait to return.

It was a great experience, service was top notch. Was there on a Tuesday night so was quiet but had an excellent time catching with old friends and having a wide variety of dishes.

Of all the tasting menus in Boston, save your money and skip this one. The short is we left hungry and sober after spending a bit over $500 with tip on dinner with pairings for 2. Half of the dishes were ones we've had better versions of at other restaurants with one element that felt like they were trying to put a clumsy spin on a classic. One halved grape sitting in the bottom of a truffle agnolotti and two large chunks of orange in an acidic squash soup stand out as particularly odd. Some of the wine pairings overwhelmed the dishes instead of complementing them, although the passionfruit dessert and duck with their pairings were notable exceptions and were excellent. There was an inconsistent level of seasoning, with some dishes like the halibut falling completely flat. The service was good, although the descriptions of each dish were brief, matching the depth of flavor. The presentation was mixed, some were beautifully plated and others felt like they'd just ladled/slapped it on. Based on other reviews, we were expecting unique, innovative, and complex dishes and instead found ourself discussing during each course other restaurants that had made the same dish better. Finally, there were fewer courses presented than listed on their sample menu online, which would have been an unpleasant surprise if we had enjoyed the food more.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. And if you have been and think differently, I would question your sanity and whether we could be friends. If we were dating, I probably would have to end it. I literally don't even know where to start. If the bill wasn't hundreds of dollars, I would laugh, but I guess they are the ones laughing since they have all my money and I left wanting McDonald's (which I don't even eat normally). Run do not walk away from your dining reservation. Please. I beg of you. My husband had booked this place for a birthday dinner as we were visiting Boston. The fine dining scene here is sub-par and limited to begin with - no Michelin restaurants and not much out there. As soon as I yelped this place and I went on the website I knew this was going to not be good......go on their website now. Could they BE more pretentious? Get there and are seated quickly anyway. Ambiance is decent- no complaints. Very small but makes it intimate. Waiter comes up to us and it's just super weird from the start. We were told there would be a six course meal tonight and that everything would be a surprise in a manner and self-styling than screamed Williamsburg and further pretentiousness. I asked to see an actual menu because there are certain things I don't like and was considering the vegetarian option (which the waiter said they had no menu for). I also asked for a wine list and he said they also didn't have that but asked me what I liked. I said a glass of Pinot Grigio sounded good and they said they did not have that either but they could bring me a sample of something "in the style of Pino Grigio." Omg this place is so much work. What they arrived with had bubbles and I tried again with a Sauvignon Blanc which was of course a jerk pour but whatever. Again, you don't even know if they are bringing you a $15 or $40 glass of wine. Not cool. My husband paid so idk how much it was but not right. Also apparently when recapping this misery of an evening with my husband, he noted that they didn't even itemize the bill. Went with the regular menu but asked to sub out the duck for anything else. They said they could do fennel (which I also hate) but this was exhausting already so I said fine. They wound up bringing out fish.... not fennel?? Idk but that was better than fennel as a main course. But again, what is happening here? Food: Horrific. I've never experienced such garbage in my life. Presentation was decent but the food itself had absolutely no flavor. Bland as hell as other helpers have commented on. I wanted to ask for salt and pepper. And while they did the normal "fancy restaurant weird pairings" such as carrots and diced escargot and lemongrass and ice cream, none of it worked at all. And the food was lukewarm. I gave my husband all of it to eat. I seriously mean 1/10 here and when you factor in the price and pretentiousness 0/10. I wouldn't eat here again if it were free. I'd literally rather go to Applebee's. Also the portion sizes are absurdly small. See pics.

I greatly enjoyed my meal at asta. Dishes were creative and delicious. The tasting was heavy on vegetables and being a meat eater I was surprised how satisfying these dishes were. Flavors were bold on the main courses l. The vegetable dishes were more delicate in flavor, but still very good. IThe staff is also very nice. I came solo and felt right at home. I will absolutely be coming here again. I was told the menu does change every few weeks as well. I forget the nuances of the dish but here is an overall review 1)White gazpacho salmon broth - very delicate. Very freshing. The salmon roe added some saltiness that elevated the dish 4/5 2)Some sort of pea salad wit mushrooms. Very simple and delicate with a bit of acidity. Very good though 5/5 3) Squash with mackerel and corn- so savory and delicious. Some crispiness added great texture. The mackerel really elevated the dish 5/5 4) stripped bass- another delicious dish. Perfectly cooked with crispy skin with a savory butter sauce to go with it 5/5 5) lamb saddle with stinging nettles- perfectly cooked. The nettles added great flavor to the unseasoned lamb 4/5 Supplement dish Foie gras perfect sear on top and perfectly creamy 5/5 Invierno cheese over dandelion 4/5 tasty! Dessert Raspberry rhubarb sorbet- 5/5 refreshing and full of so much flavor Strawberry rhubarb with angel cake frosting? Very light and refreshing. Good way to end the night Highly recommend. Give this place a shot!

    Love Asta!!!!

Wide range of creative flavors. Japanese influence. Innovative combinations. The sablefish was to die for. The western Ma tenderloin was so tender and tasty. Solidly the best restaurant in Boston with the most creative food. Intimate atmosphere. Watch the chefs work right in front of your eyes. Nothing beats Asta!

Insanely pretentious. Food portion is a joke. Courses tasted bland. Zero decoration. No ambiance whatsoever. Waiters gave out a really weird vibe. The whole experience is just preposterous. 波士頓假裝B的餐廳。食物超難吃,份量少到一口就結束,餐廳零裝潢一點氣氛都沒有,服務生陰陽怪氣裝逼至極。吃到氣死人。離遠一點免得找罪受

The sauce was a tad heavy and thick for my taste, and the portion size was a bit small considering the price. On the bright side, the chips were light and incredibly tasty. I also ordered the Costillas de Cerdo. The sauce was excellent, and a few bites were oh so good. The disappointment came in the ribs themselves -- the meat didn't come off the bone easily, which made working through the dish more effort than it should have been.
