The service here is really good and the pasties look very fresh. I didn't try one though. The matcha is okay, they don't whisk it individually and pour it from a premade batch, so I didn't like it. Wouldn't get it again but would try the coffee or pastries.

Mushroom feta pastry with a cup of regular drip coffee

Small little coffee place with a nice selection of pastries to choose from. I ordered the mushroom feta pastry and a cup of coffee from the nice gentleman at the register. I was able grab a seat at one of the 2 tables they have inside and they have a lot more seating in the front of the shop. It didn't take long for my food to warm up and it was warmed perfectly. The pastry tasted delicious. A bit savory and not sweet but paired well with my coffee. I would like to try some of the other stuffed croissants they had because they all looked delicious. I will just have to come back so I can try them all.

I stopped by looking for a coffee but I know I'll be back for the pastries at Dalian's. I had a lavender latte and it was splendid, no complaints at all. I also had a toasted ham and cheese croissant which was great. They have a beautiful apple pastry (I thinkkkk it's a danish) that caught my eye but I'm not always a big fan of apple - would love to come back to try it though! Special notes for to the collection of orchids (my favorite) at the window and the black and white design - making the space modern and welcoming at the same time. The owner (i think) was very friendly and polite, making the ordering process easy. Happy to find great coffee in this quaint place tucked on a busy street.

If you're looking for a real cafe this is it. You can just tell off the ambiance and quality this is the real deal. Many coffee shops in Los Angeles unfortunately target aesthetics, are watered down, mostly sweet, not so great quality. This shop is truly inspired by European coffee which you can taste. I've been here several times and pass by almost everyday. I see the same people coming and enjoying coffee in the mornings with their pups or working on their laptops. It gives a very family and home feel. Before learning more about this shop, I figured they were inspired by European coffee based on the layout and how strong my coffee was. The owner is also here everyday which makes it even more special. I've gotten iced mochas and vanilla lattes. Service is always friendly, quantity is not tiny, and it's not overly sweet. I love tasting espresso in my drinks so this was very important to me. The vanilla or mocha was never overpowering. I would definitely come here again and recommend to anyone coming around DTLA. Cheers

Really convenient location right next to hotel, was originally headed to my tried and true Starbies but saw this place and went inside. Got the hazelnut coconut iced latte, a little sweet but very good. A shot of espresso in the tiniest Togo espresso cup I've seen lol, I love it! A matcha latte, very good, and a Nutella chocolate bun. 5/5 for everything!

Ambiance: it's a small coffee store located in DTLA, near the public library, with very limited seats inside and outside, good for takeout orders Service: very friendly and patient with specific requests, and the barista is very talented making latte Food & Drink: simple menu items Spinach and Feta Puff Pastry - **** crispy and savory taste, recommend Matcha Latte - **** refreshing matcha taste, recommend Price: decent quality and reasonable prices, expect $15+ for a quick bite and drink

A short walk from the Gas Tower Building, this small coffee shop has a New York-style vibe. It's tucked into a little corner with limited indoor seating and a few outdoor tables. Service was quick. For a fast bite, they offer ready-made sandwiches in the fridge and can warm them up in the oven if needed. The dirty chai latte was a bit overpowering for my taste, but I later learned it's customizable. Milk options are available, and most of their coffees are unsweetened, so be sure to share your preference when ordering.

Espresso may not be the answer, but it's worth a shot. So let's begin this pulchritudinous review. :D lol. Dalian's Café is a cute tiny cafe located on a busy street S Grand Ave., Downtown. Los Angeles, CA. They serve exquisite organic coffee, teas, pastries and specialty drinks. Cafe's indoor black and white color scheme emits a classy french look. Its indoor and outdoor seats provide a relaxing atmosphere. I came here early Friday morning to grab a drink; it's one of my spontaneous LA adventure moment. I was greeted by a tall long with curly hair male staff. Server inquired if I was British? I politely said YEASSSS (I reckon what gave me away?) Lol. After perusing their menu, I decided to grab a hot Lavender Latte x plain Croissant. Both items were bloody fantastic. Coffee was jolting and smooth while the Croissant was fresh, flaky and soft. Prices were priced according to their standard market value. Service was spot on like white on rice. Seats were limited. Finding a street parking spot was quite challenging. (I parked 1 3/4 block) Overall, I had a nice experience and truly enjoyed my latte/croissant. I recommend you visit if you're in the area. So until then my loyal fans! :D lol.

A hidden Gem in Downtown LA! Attached to the historic Los Angeles Biltmore, Dalian has a charming European café vibe and everything you could want: delicious pastries, soothing coffee drinks, and even matcha! This spot was a delightful discovery during my stay in Los Angeles. I had been going to Starbucks every morning, but once I found Dalian, that completely changed. The owner, Dalian, is calm, courteous, and genuinely cares about crafting exactly what you're looking for. He takes his time and makes sure every drink is just right. Skip the Starbucks, on both corners, and treat yourself to something better, give Dalian's a try. You won't regret it!

Owner Dali is super friendly and welcoming. Anyone who needs a good matcha def stop by here instead of Starbucks (which I haven't had in years) I'm pretty picky with matcha it was pretty strong and was got the banana flavor which was different but delightful! Def support this local business if you are nearby, I will def be back due to the welcoming vibes.

Very friendly service and I loved that when I ordered a flavored iced latte, it wasn't too sweet. He had me taste it first and said he could sweeten it further if it wasn't enough - but it was perfect. I got the lavender and it wasn't overpowering. My partner ordered a hot latte (plain) and said it was good. Not the best in the city but if he was in the area he would know he could rely on this latte. He also got a ham and Swiss sandwich. The barista informed us that they get fresh sandwiches in daily from their baker. My partner loved it and felt like the $15 price tag was justified! I'd definitely go back but I wouldn't seek it out if it was out of my way.

I paused, glanced at the empty café behind me, and replied, "There are plenty available--surely I can use one." He continued, in a dismissive tone, speaking to me in a way that felt unnecessarily disrespectful. I chose to walk away and still enjoy my pour-over. But it's not just about serving good coffee. As Maya Angelou reminds us, people will always remember how you made them feel. And in this space, I felt unwelcome. I stumbled across their Yelp page when I was visiting from out of town and checked the Instagram for their hours on a Saturday afternoon and was happy to see they were open! I am a sucker for pop-up coffee shop/cart concepts so I had to check it out. The pop-up is easy to find, it's outside facing into the parking lot, and they had a cute A-frame sign out by the street side. There was no line, and I ordered and sat down at one of the tables out front. The service was so warm, and I believe the shop is owned and operated by one man on his own! He was an absolute delight to meet, and he brought my matcha latte to me at the table when it was prepared. He suggested I get the cream top on it, and boy was that the perfect recommendation. I would say I'm a little bit of a matcha fiend... I think I got a matcha latte at 3 different places this day... and this one far surpassed the others. I think it was one of the best matcha lattes I have ever drank to-date. It was perfectly green, the matcha quality was phenomenal, both taste and look-wise. The texture was just right, perfectly creamy with barely any grittiness. The cream top only added to the drink, and didn't take away from the matcha flavor at all, which I feel like has happened at other places for me. I'm dreaming of this matcha latte days later, and need to go back to Kokoro No Coffee as soon as I am in town again. This was a spectacular find, and I hope this spot gets all the love it deserves! There is truly nothing like a great business ran by a great person and you can tell there's so much intention put into this concept. Highly, highly recommend and I could not sing praises more!

Integrated within the city itself, but designed and curated to still be apart from it, Archives of Us feels like a space perfect for studying, working, and just vibing if you have the time and you're a local while as a tourist or passerby it's a neat stop by as you continue on your itinerary. Design - Private but Open Located just on the boundary of Chinatown and inside the new shopping plaza under new apartments, Archives of Us has its own separate entrance utilizing an elevator to get you to the second floor. This simple detachment allows Archives of Us to have a private space in such a public location. The interior has exposed concrete, ventilation ducts, and wiring to give the industrial design that's currently popular whilst integrating soft tones of wood, stones, and simple plants in the same space. It makes the interior feel less brutalist by incorporating nature where it can. In juxtaposition, the exterior is a large balcony space with planters of leafy plants on the perimeter to provide semi-private screening as you look out into the city. Though you're close enough to people's apartments where you can snoop on what they have on their balconies it provides enough privacy where they can't look at the TikTok's you're watching. Drinks - Matcha & Espresso Archives of Us has a reputation for its matcha. Like so many places these days they proudly utilize ceremonial matcha for their drinks (although ceremonial grade doesn't mean it's good for lattes but that's a whole different story for a different time). They also do Einspänners, cream lattes, and more traditional drinks like flat whites. All these come in one size, ensuring a consistent taste for each drink. Although I did enjoy the banana tiramisu cream latte I had I don't know if paying an average of $7.50-$9.00 is worth the price. The quality of the ingredients can be tasted so it's up to you to decide if that price is worth paying. Food - High Quality for Simple Design Following the same rhetoric as the drinks, the food they serve here aren't complicated but they do have a high standard to their ingredients. The Wagyu Egg Sliders is executed well with toasted Hawaiian rolls, perfectly cooked Wagyu beef patties, and a hand chopped egg salad between them all. The egg salad part especially feels like the same type of flavor you would get if you got an egg sando in Japan. The ingredients taste great and as a simple recipe it is executed well. However, for the price of $17 you might be looking for more than "simple done perfectly". If you're looking for a kick or accent to their food you'll have to look for outside sources. I recommend asking them for condiments like their salsa they use for their breakfast burritos. Their breakfast burrito also falls under the same umbrella of well executed with simple ingredients. I especially loved how fluffy the eggs were and the ratio of potato to all the ingredients was fantastic. Final Thought Archives of Us can be seen as a hip location you have to try because of all the buzz and hype you've heard of or it can be seen as a place to make your own if you're a local of the area. It can be considered both overly hyped and a well loved secret. Whatever perspective you see it as what is unarguable is Archives of Us is quintessentially LA and you can love it or hate it for it. Try it for yourself to see where you stand.
