Absolutely my best experience with getting a brazilian. I am a MD resident that attended school in Ohio for the past two years. Dalia's brazilians stood out so much that I refused to go anywhere in Ohio and would try to schedule my visits home around my need for a wax. I was super excited to find Dalia on Yelp. I've been looking for a specialist for facials and waxing and after the reviews, I was excited to book an appointment. I purchased a $40 for $60 coupon which I planned to use for my facial in the near future. My first appointment, however, was for waxing for last Tuesday. I, however, got sick from a sinus infection and my weakened immune system caused me to break out in hives (confirmed by two general physicians and my allergist whom I saw this last week) as I have ENVIRONMENTAL allergies (dog, cat, tree pollen, dust, mold). Please note, I have had waxes done in the past; usually about every other month for YEARS and I have not experienced any allergic reaction. With all of that being said, Dalia wanted to know what I was allergic to. After a thorough explanation, she refused services despite me offering to sign a waiver and despite me explaining that I have ENVIRONMENTAL allergies. I have never experienced chemical related allergies, especially not from a facial and/or waxing. I'm so disappointed because I've been on the search for a great skincare specialist and a person who can wax. She did explain that she is doing away with certain waxes and that she only wants to focus on facials. Sadly, I continue my search and I pray that Yelp will refund me my $40. read more

So I was interested in getting my first bikini wax (ever!!) before going on vacation later this week. I spent a lot of time looking into different places, reading reviews, articles on what to expect, and how to prepare. Dalia has a lot of positive reviews so I scheduled an appointment with her over the phone. I asked for a bikini wax, and she even double checked to clarify "bikini or brazilian", definitely bikini!! So when I arrived, she was on the phone. This isn't a huge issue for me, but for it being my first time ever being waxed, it really was not welcoming. So her house smells lovely, the basement smells really nice too. It is pretty clean, except for the bed. It looked like the towels had not been changed or washed, and it really was not sturdy at all. So still on the phone, she tells me to take off everything waist down. So I do, and I sit on the table bare a$$ until she is ready for me (another reason I feel the towels should be changed!!). She asked me a few times if it was my first time, so it was very clear. A lot of reviews said she was comforting and talkative, I did not get that at all. First of all, no gloves. She did not use gloves at all. She had me hold my skin taut, and I was not even offered gloves. Second, she used the same dipstick into a big pot of wax. I would not be surprised if that same stick or wax was used on someone else earlier in the day. She did not use any barrier treatment; I read that powder or a certain cream can be applied to minimize how much the wax sticks to your skin. And on that note, she left me sticky as h*ll!! I asked for advice on after care and she said "whatever ointment you have in your cabinet" (keep in mind she used some fragrant drugstore brand lotion on me that did not solve the sticky issue). When I asked for more detail on what to wash with, she responds with "loofa". The worst part of it all, is that I ended up with a brazilian wax, not a bikini. I knew after the first application of wax that we weren't in bikini land anymore. She did not once clarify, just slapped the wax on me and pulled away. The worst part is, I was not "trimmed" as "suggested", another reason why she should have stopped! She should have told me, or offered to trim down, at which point I could clarify that I did NOT want a brazilian. So $40 later, or $42 rather (with a credit card charge) plus tip (I can't not tip, I was a waitress for 6 years...) I am left hairless, in pain, with no direction on how to take care of it. I did not feel comfortable or catered to at all, I felt like I was in and out so she could get her next customer. Maybe she was having an off day, but I feel first time customers (especially bikini wax virgins!) should be taken good care of. Especially when you are laying on a rocky table, legs wide open, and someone new spreading hot wax on your bits. read more

Hi Dalia, I understand there are a number of benefits to both you and the client to have an in-home experience but it should still be wonderful and professional. My previous esthetician used very high quality linens, robes, towels, etc. They were always fluffy and warm and made it feel like I was at a high end spa. While you cannot control the view outside the door/large window some nice curtains covering up the view a bit better would be nice. Also a fresh coat of paint couldn't hurt. As for the facial itself, at the beginning I remember specifically asking about extractions and saying I like them and would like for them to be done. While some were done it wasn't complete but there was no way for me to know this until I got home and looked in a mirror. I'm not suggesting asking clients check themselves out before leaving, but a thorough facial includes extractions. I also was disappointed in the fact that my facial seemed to be cut short. I didn't have a watch on and when I was getting ready to leave and I put my watch back on I realized it had been about 45 minutes and not 75 minutes, which is what I had purchased. I think being open to improvement is wonderful and some changes would allow you to not only improve your business, but raise your prices. read more

I was in Rockville on business trip and a yelp search led me to Dalia. I went to see her 2x in the week I was in town. I hadn't had a facial for almost a year and my skin needed a good cleansing. She was very gentle and made me feel relaxed while explaining each step. She did many extractions, but it did not take but a few hours for my skin to calm down. I did purchase Dermalogica products from her, they are pricey but good and I wanted a routine I could keep up with. I've been using them for over a week and my skin looks better everyday. I think she offers a great value, while she works out of her home it's hard to find that quality of work for that price where I live in NY. I found Dalia on yelp and decided to give her a try, so glad that I did! She works in her basement, so it was very quiet and relaxing. I have a moderately hairy back and usually use nair, but I know waxing is better, but didn't like paying the salon prices. I kept waiting for the tender painful spots, but then she says "ok, you're all done". I was like WOW, that was the best back waxing ever. It took all of 14 min to do and the best price I ever paid. I went there for a Brazilian, hoping to find a inexpensive place near home. I read really good reviews and had my hopes up, however was really disappointed. It was soooooo painful! All I could think of was "what kind of experience did those poor girls have before this?" the ones that left good reviews. But I figured I can't judge until I see the results in few days. Dalia is a very nice woman, but my wax was super painful -- probably more than the very first wax I ever had. The tweezing wasn't a very pleasant experience either. I had a wax once at Red Door Spa and it was not a great experience so I was hesitant to try Dalia. I'm glad I got over my fear because she's been my go to person for a wax for some time now. This review is after a year of going to her using a groupon with a girlfriend and both of our moms. My friend and I both agreed , she was a sweet lady, but we were not satisfied with the experience nor the products that were used. Maybe for non-acne prone people this place would be great for in between your regular facials. This is my very first time having a brazilian wax done and I have to admit, I was really scared to get it done. But after reading the reviews about Dalia, I reconsidered because I have been wanting to get it done for years now. Dalia was very pleasant and accommodating with my schedule which is a plus. However, I expected her to use gloves when waxing and baby powder (which is what I saw on youtube for proper braxilian wax) and not to mention double dipping.......non of these happened at all. She also applied wax couple of times to the same area which made it more painful because my skin is very sensitive which I told her from the very beginning. Maybe for others that have been doing it for so long, then it's not too painful for them but for first timers like me, I expected her to be more gentle and at least care on how I felt. Everytime I say it hurts, she would ask "really? seriously?"....... I am not the type that will complain but I will try to look reconsider coming back when it's time for me to get it done again. The place I got my 1st wax at was very expensive, I was charged $75 for just a Brazilian wax & on top of that I was not too pleased with the results. That is when I came to Dalia & I loved the price, loved the results & loved her! I have came back & added to my service. I also got a blackhead extraction that was included in a facial service & I also recently got my underarms waxed as well! I love love love it! Dalia is professional, friendly and definitely has the best prices in in town! I am assuming that is because she works out of her house, which cuts out any overhead cost.
