We took our 5 and 3 year old here after seeing many different dentists that recommended putting them both under for dental work. It didn't sit right with me and so I kept searching. I came across Dallas Designer Smiles on a Facebook group and said to myself, what's one more opinion? I am so glad we did! My 5 year old has never left a dentist office excited to come back, but this one he was. We left with him telling me how much he loved them and how he couldn't wait to come back and it was the only dentist, out of the 6 we've gone to in the past 3 months that I felt good about too. Dr. Jeff Davies was honest about the work that needed to be done and what we could keep an eye on compared to a pediatric dentist telling me my 3 year old should get 14 crowns to prevent cavities. Today, my 5 year old got his cavity on his molar fixed with no needles and no pain. He was excited about the procedure and so proud of himself when it was done. It took maybe 10-15 minutes. I can't express how grateful I am that we came across Dallas Designer Smiles. This mama is so happy and so relieved to not have to put my son under. In a nutshell: Called to schedule appointment for 2 cavity fillings (wanted to get an idea of the place for future cosmetic dentistry). They asked for insurance info, which I gave, had records sent over from my usual dentist. Came in the next day, they get me all set up, then demand full cash payment (about $400) or that I get their credit card right before they are about to get started! I couldn't afford to pay cash up front (I'm a teacher for goodness sake!) and have never had to do that for any medical service in my life. If I had known that they would ask for full cash payment up front, I would have never made an appointment with them in the first place. Why would they even ask for my insurance information if they were going to demand cash up front. Doesn't make sense to me. I left with my two cavities, feeling disappointed. They called later and left a message that said they could work something out where they bill insurance and then I pay, and then when they finally have all the money I can come back. This just didn't seem quite right to me, so I didn't return their call and just decided I'd get my fillings with my usual dentist, and I decided I'd think twice about getting any cosmetic procedures. Only a week goes by and to my surprise, I recieve a bill from my insurance company showing an $82 charge from Dr. Strader's office just for coming in even though I didn't have anything done (which if you remember is because they wanted the whole payment up front). Nobody ever said anything about any extra charge at any point. Wouldn't go back because of this bad first experience. . read more

Because the process can actually end up getting MORE mercury in your system by replacing them, it's important to go to a dentist who takes all the extra precautions to protect you from absorbing it. Dr. Strader is more up to date than the typical dentist about all the materials used in dentistry and how they can affect our health. His office staff is really friendly, they file insurance immediately and can always tell me how much will be reimbursed, and the hygienists are sweet and patient for wimpy patients like me. I went to Dr Strader after researching to find the best dentist to properly remove all the toxic amalgam fillings I had in my mouth. Dr. Strader does the job carefully and properly, following the "Huggins protocol". Over the course of several visits I had Dr. Strader remove all my amalgams and replace them with modern composite fillings. This also required that some crowns be removed and replaced. Dr. Strader spent time with me discussing the various options and answered all my questions. It's been a couple of years now since I had all that work done, and I have continued to go to Dr. Strader's office for my routine cleanings even though it is a considerable drive for me coming from Plano. WARNING FOR POTENTIAL NEW PATIENTS - IF YOU TMJ (TEMPORAL MANDIBULAR JOINT) PROBLEMS - DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST! After a crown procedure, I experienced a severe reactivation of TMJ pain which I had not experienced in 30 yrs and which is still present 30 dys post treatment ( I informed him of my previous problem). I have had many other crowns placed in the past 30 yrs and no subsequebt problems. As a result, my conclusion is that this procedure was too traumatic and not done properly. In addition, this dentist was INSENSITIVE to pain and suffering created -never heard are you feeling better after final occulsion appointment and did not respond to communications after that appointment. He does not adjust crowns when he puts them in your mouth. He says he does not need to adjust them. I had a problem with a crown and he told me he adjusts crowns every 2-3 weeks. read more

I began to see Dr Strader several years ago when I needed to have several crowns and bridges replaced. Since I was having all of that done already I wanted to see what it would take to "do my whole smile" for my uppers. The problem is, that I'd had some very bad past experiences with dentists when I was young and needed someone that I could trust, but also that had the option to sedate me while I was having everything done so I wouldn't have an anxiety attack. Dr Strader sat down with me after an exam and explained what needed to be done and what could be done, very clearly and with zero pressure. A few weeks later I began the process and now have a beautiful smile, which they continue to take care of for me (and I don't need sedation anymore). Their scheduling system is automated and online, but they will always give you a call if something needs to change. And, the fact that their hours are 11am - 7pm is great for folks who can't take time off during the work day to come in. I'd recommend Dr Strader to anyone who wants top service. read more

The dental hygienists that work there are just wonderful and always do a great job cleaning my teeth. I had a cavity removed about a year ago and they used a newer, painless method that didn't require that dreaded and painful needle-in-the-mouth local anesthetic. I have been a client of Dr. Strader's for 12 years. The minute I sit down I am greeted and taken back for my service. I had all the metal removed from my crowns and he did an outstanding job. I had no pain or sensitivity issues afterward. I go every six months for a thorough cleaning. The dental work Dr. Strader performs is of good quality and his office staff is very nice and helpful. I went to him because I was looking for a mercury free dentist now that I am trying to live a holistic lifestyle. However, from my experience, he is not conservative with his dental work and will tell you need unnecessary dental work performed. He told me I had 2 cavities that needed to be filled and a tooth with a filling that needed a crown over it. I decided to go back to my old dentist for my next dental cleaning because I thought it was odd that she had never made mention of these supposed cavities when I was just there for a cleaning a few months prior. She said I did not have any cavities that needed to be filled or any tooth that needed a crown (which is very expensive). She said the 2 places Dr. Strader said needed a filling were discorations that have been there for years and she had been watching them for years and they have not changed or turned into cavities. She also said the filling that he said needed a crown over it was still in good condition and she didn't see any reason to do anything to it until it started deteriorating. So long story short, it seems Dr. S is more focused on cosmetics and how your mouth looks versus what actually needs to be done. So he will use a camera to take pictures, put them up on a big screen in front of you, and tell you that every little spot of imperfection in your mouth needs to be fixed. It is very convincing when shown to you like this. Get a second opinion on any work he says needs to be done. I wish he would have been more honest with me. I was really upset for several months thinking after taking very good care of my teeth I had 2 cavities. All my worry was for nothing....So glad I went back to my old dentist. I will never take her honesty and conservative approach for granted again. I fear many of his patients are spending big money on unnecessary dental work. I almost fell for it too.
