I never tried their falafel, but their shawarma is amazing! You walk in and stand in line...chipotle style, you tell them what you want, they make you a really good sandwich based on what you ask for, so if you don't like your sandwich, that's on you! Here's a suggestion, unless you love Hummus in your sandwich, don't add it. I like my hummus solo! IDK about you but if I spend $ 12 on a dinner I expect my food to be hot when dining in. I was beyond hungry so I didn't really take notice until 5-6 bites in that the food was just warm. I had a seat facing the counter which is when I noticed that when there were no customers at the counter I noticed a worker shaving decent amounts of meat off of the spinning wheel. This meat that was being PRE-shaved was just being set into metal containers, not being kept warm and just uncovered. WTH ! Damascus is close to my work, fast and delicious. I had a steak bowl and between the rice, taboula and freshly made hummus you really can't ask for anything else from a Middle Eastern restaurant. I did also order some fresh pita to go with my bowl. It's kind of like a chipotle of middle eastern food. It smells amazing inside. I was also given a strong recommendation on the baclava which I can say was homemade, rich and buttery. In other words, make sure you get it if you go there. I don't have one negative comment about this place. Just make sure you get there early enough for lunch or you'll wait because everyone else wants some delicious falafel too. read more

When I was working downtown, Mediterranean was a weekly staple and the options are abundant. Unfortunately, since I don't have to go downtown much any more, Mediterranean visits have fallen off considerably. The urge still comes, I just hadn't really found a place that warrants the trip, until today. Looking at a new Mediterranean restaurant in the area, their Yelp page had mentions of Damascus in the reviews and brought me here. A quick browse through their photos and glance at their menu was all I needed to consider giving them a shot. I was torn between trying the lamb or chicken schwarma, so I did what any sane person would do, I ordered both. I tried the steak schwarma in their build your own bowl style and it was good but not great to me. All the components were excellent. The hummus was flavorful and creamy, the meat was seasoned well and cooked appropriately, the rice wasn't dry and the salads were fresh. I just think it was a lot going on in terms of flavors and textures, but if you're one of those people who crave the day-after-Thanksgiving mishmash, get the bowl and you can't go wrong! What makes this place five stars to me is their Damascus chicken wrap with pickles and garlic sauce. Truly incredible combination of flavors, and puts many of the Chicago places to shame in my opinion! If you know someone who isn't down with the hummus or scared to try this type of food, get them the wrap and know you've changed someone's life for the better. For the price, the bowl is probably more food than the wrap, but neither is extremely costly and definitely seems like a steal for the quality of food you're receiving. So quit questioning it and just go, you won't regret it. read more

Their menu looked enticing, I was able to order through Yelp and they delivered to my hotel. The Chicken Shawarma Wrap was very good. I had it with Roasted Pepper Hummus and Cucumber Yogurt Salad inside the wrap. Really nice flavor. I also had a cup of Lentil soup which was the perfect side. I enjoyed my experience here though I'm never really excited about restaurants whom adopt food setups like the cafeteria at most schools. With that being the case I only ordered the falafel (.50 each) but it was pretty delicious. While hot it's still wet and doughy inside but after it cooled down...heaven. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of it. Sauce was good. I didn't feel like a fat slob after consuming the falafel wrap. Had a healthy thing going on, but it was delicious also. After eating this. I asked, why is this not more popular? It was different, delicious and healthy. I'm surprised there isnt one of these on every corner in this country! Lentil Soup really is good! Steak wrap..yum. I like this place. It is crowded around lunchtime, and for good reason. A little expensive when you get a steak wrap, but just a vegetarian wrap is a decent, maybe even, healthy lunch meal. read more

Not impressed with their catering service. I ordered food for 20 people and though they gave me a lot of sides such as rice, salads n Pita, the meat they served was not enough. It was a half tray quantity sparingly filled. I will not order for a party from here again because I fell short on food, and I hate when that happens. I had separate appetizers served before this dinner course and yet we fell short on food. As a business that wants to grow you should always reserve some extra especially when you are providing catering services. Or be honest and say to estimate for more. My guests were scrapping meat from the pan towards the end. Your food is great but catering service needs improvement. read more

First time in this place, awesome experience. The quality of the food are excellent and tasty. Very simple meal and its filling. Wraps and bowl are freshly made. We had a big group last Saturday (4/29/17), more than 20 and everyone enjoyed their food. The staff are kind, courteous, friendly and provide good customer service. The price of the food are reasonable. I'm not from this state, next time we are in the area I'll make time to visit restaurant again.
