Dames is our local salon in West Sacramento. It's located across from Burger and Brew. Parking is a bit tough. They have parking in front, but that is usually taken. The next option is down a side street which looks kind of sketchy. There are homeless living at the end of the street. This is where I usually park. There are other cars there so it must be safe and I've never had any vandalism to my car or harassment getting to my car so I guess all is well. I wish they had a private lot. The salon is very pleasant. When you enter you get greeted by the receptionist or one of the stylist. I come here for Kimberly who does facials so I walk to the back and wait at the dryers till she is ready. read more

I get a wash and blow out often enough and I enjoy trying new places. From the reviews and photos, this place looked promising and they were able to get me the time I was looking for. Upon arriving, my stylist was nice, but immediately I noticed she had very long acrylic nails and that usually isn't the best when you're dealing with hair but I know that's not my place to judge so I didn't think too much into it. She took me back to wash my hair which usually is a 10 minute process to shampoo and condition. I was in that wash area for 30 mins and I had to ask her if we can just go back to the chair. I have wavy/curly hair , nothing crazy however so it's not like my hair was anything unique or out the ordinary. She tangled my hair so bad in that wash bowl and it was such an uncomfortable experience! Between constantly pulling my hair, her nails and me trying to be patient with her. Once we finally got back to the chair, she could not detangle my hair, I had to ask for the hair brush and detangle myself. The owner was next to us and had to help her. Once again, my hair gets tangled just like anyone else's but what she did while in the wash bowl made my hair tangle up insanely. From that moment on, my stylist clearly was in a bad mood, and I was so uncomfortable but did not want to embarrass her and leave or request someone else. The blowout itself was frizzy and unfinished and the owner had to go back in to fix it. I still paid $55 for this horrible experience. The most hurtful thing was they made me feel like my hair was the problem .... And yes, I was the only person of color in the salon ... read more

Terrible crown highlight/just dumped bleach onto the top and a chopped hair cut. I said "no haircut" the technician doing my hair said "let me clean the ends" and cut 3 inches off the bottom and put strait cut layers across the bottom half, it's literally chopped up. It will be repaired & fixed elsewhere. Called several times leaving messages for the owner, no call back. Not easy for a woman over 60 to grow hair. It's such a bad situation for me. West Sac is the Best Sac and this cute salon proves that. The space is bright, airy, and decorated so cute. It's in an old building but they did a lot of work to update it, but also keep the charm of the brick building. The services are great and I was very happy with my hair. I made an appointment and I went for a blowout. I loved all the products she used, they smelled so good. My hair is notorious for not holding a curl, so she made sure to use products to keep the style. There are also hair products, face mask treatments, and more to buy at the front desk. I hope to go back for facial services, which is done in a specially designated room in the back. read more

My wife has been seeing Rochelle to cut and color my wife's hair for the last 3+ years. The new space is beautiful, modern and always clean! My wife gets her highlights done about every two months and she gets nothing but compliments from complete strangers to all of her friends. They follow all the Covid regulations. I guess I should start by saying I have been one of Rochelle's clients since I was 16. I will be 30 this upcoming March and she still always manages to make me feel beautiful when she does my hair! Even in periods where I wasn't going to her as much (college, career changes, life events) I've never been disappointed when coming back to her after a hiatus! I currently, she has helped me go from dark, chocolatey brunette hair to some bright, blonde highlights.
