I love that they have fresh coffee and even little treats--it's those little touches that make the experience feel extra special! My stylist, Renee, always does an amazing job cutting my hair so that it's easy for me to style myself. I have fine, curly hair, and I'm always trying to get a little more volume without a ton of effort. Renee really knows how to work with my hair and always takes the time to make sure I'm happy with my cut. I also really appreciate the atmosphere at Honey Salon. Everyone is so kind and professional, and you can tell they truly care about making their clients feel comfortable and taken care of. I moved to Sacramento right as I started nursing school, and to say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. I walked into Honey Salon looking like an actual White Walker from GOT -- my hair was practically translucent with a weird purple hue, and I was a HOT mess trying to survive school and life. Then I met Lauren. She took the time to do a real consultation, explained everything, and somehow completely rescued my hair. Not only did she fix the color beautifully, but she was also incredibly reasonable with pricing -- which mattered so much as a broke nursing student. Over time, she was always accommodating with last-minute changes, root touch-ups on the fly, and helping me maintain healthy, normal-looking hair through pure chaos. Most recently, I came back after another hair disaster elsewhere that left me with orangish-brown roots, and once again Lauren worked absolute magic. She fixed it all without judgment and somehow made me laugh through the process. She is genuinely a saint with incredible skills and a wicked sense of humor. I'm relocating to South Dakota now and I'm honestly so sad to leave her behind. Finding someone you trust with your hair is hard -- finding someone talented, kind, funny, and fair is even harder. I used to be a loyal client of this salon when they were at their previous location. The service was solid and the atmosphere felt welcoming. That changed completely after they moved. The new location is in a sketchy area with dimly lit parking that feels unsafe, especially at night. That's already enough to make you think twice about going back. Worse is the attitude. Management and several of the stylists are now unwelcoming and openly catty. They make faces at each other and clearly talk about you or other clients right in front of you. It creates an uncomfortable, clique-y environment where you feel judged instead of taken care of. The professional, client-focused vibe they once had is gone. I've been a regular in the past and expected better. Instead I left feeling dismissed and unwelcome. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else waste their time or money here either. But, after they moved, the atmosphere started changing. It was no longer the place you looked forward to going; you no longer got that warm & fuzzy feeling. used to adore this place years ago--back when the owner still seemed to enjoy owning a salon and the vibe felt warm instead of refrigerated. Returning after a long absence felt like walking into an old favorite restaurant only to discover they've replaced the chef with someone who hates food. The indifference starts at the front door and escalates from there. Appointments vanish into the ether, questions go unanswered for days (a personal best: 48+ hours of radio silence on a one-sentence text), and when you do get in the chair, you're met with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for jury duty. The stylists appear to have taken a collective vow of perpetual irritation--communicating mostly through sighs, eye-rolls, and creative interpretations of "just a few highlights." Highlights? More like low-lights of the soul. One stylist managed to turn my requested touch-up into a full-on espresso rinse while simultaneously delivering a haircut so asymmetrical it could qualify as modern art (if modern art involved one ear fully exposed like a startled bat wing). When I politely pointed it out, I was treated to the immortal line: "Yeah, lots of older ladies have that--we call them bat wings." Charming. Truly the customer-service equivalent of a mic drop... if the mic was disappointment. The parking lot farewell was the cherry on top: pitch-black, high-crime-area darkness, me fumbling for my keys, and the stylist literally closing the door in my face with a brisk "Bye!" No lights, no "let me flip the switch," just pure, unadulterated efficiency. It's clear the salon has evolved from a place of beauty to a finely tuned machine designed to make you question your life choices. If you enjoy being quietly reminded that your business is optional and your presence is mildly inconvenient, this is your spot. Nostalgia got me in the door. Reality sent me running to find a new salon where people still pretend to like their jobs. Would not return, even if they offered free bat-wing trims. I came in on Saturday not expecting much after a bad experience with a previous salon. However, the entire trip turned out to be beyond wonderful. Livier, the hair stylist has helped me figure out exactly what hairstyle that I truly wanted. She nicely explained to me step-by-step on what she's going to do and how it will turn out and let me make my own decision. Rather than giving false promises, she actually took time to give me honest advice on what type of my hair is and what would look best on it. I'm truly happy that I had decided to give this salon a try. I will definitely come back for a trim and possibly try out new styles. I have been waiting a little bit before I posted a review about Honey Salon. I first heard about them through their philanthropic work. They volunteered to support fundraising for the free clinics in Sacramento. One of the events was a fashion show and they offered free hair styling to the models. What I noticed about them was their passion for hair and playful nature. Never having had my hair formally done, the stylist decided on the look herself, while providing advice and making my hair super glamorous. Over the last year, I have been fortunate to have gone to three stylists at honey salon. I couldn't always see the same person due to personal scheduling conflicts but neither ever disappointed. Normally you try to stick to one person but all three got the feel of what I wanted at that time. They all were super supportive and gave tons of advice. I left each time feeling super excited about my hair and having learned something new. Also, they want what's best for your hair. They will work to promote healthy hair care and make recommendations to not damage your hair. Shout out to Liz, Angie, and Allie for doing amazing on my hair and being so kind with your advice. I needed my haircut. She listened, asked questions and did what I wanted/needed done. Ashley was friendly and professional. Thank you. I am not thrilled with the pricing many hair salons now use which feels a little pricey to me. Then to ask for a tip on top of that I think is a bit much. I worked in the service industry for years. We had fees, but it would have been not only inappropriate but unethical for us to ask for a tip. This business is not the same as being a waitress where they are paid minimum or a little better wage. The salon is new, bright and shiny and pleasant. The biggest issue is that their location has no parking and finding parking with all the other businesses there is not always easy, although I did not have problems today. read more

I've really been debating about even writing this review, because I don't want Madison to be overbooked and not be able to get me in! When I first started to look for a new stylist it was hard because they had to specialize in blondes and also hair extensions. My hair is thin, so any little issue could be major and I could be left with fried with very little hair. One of my friends recommended Madison to me. I went in for a consultation and we def hit it off. The place and atmosphere is cute inside and was easy to get to. I loved how Madison was honest and straight forward giving me realistic expectations on my consult. Her prices are fair and are up to industry average. She is worth every penny! I have always had such a happy experience with Angie; she has been doing my hair for at least seven years and I always feel so beautiful when I walk out the door. She has taught me so much over the years - correcting all of the damage I had done trying to color and highlight my own hair. I am so incredibly thankful to Brittani W. for making my hair look beautiful. I've died my hair about 3 times before and have never been pleased with the results. My natural hair color is a dark, dark brown (Brittani called it a level 3-4) and I always wanted light brown ombre tips. It never worked. I always got a copper blonde that clashed terribly with my natural dark brown. So about a week ago I went to a different stylist and asked for a full color of light brown hair. I figured that would be simpler and would get rid of the clash I disliked so much. The stylist told me we had to do it over a period of time and that we should start with bringing the light color higher up from just my tips. Since I trust experts, I agreed. I was incredibly disappointed with the results. Instead of a light brown, she gave me an orangey blonde in random portions of my hair. The front looked like I had really bad highlights (picture on left) and the back looked chaotically bad. I absolutely hated the results and went to Honey Salon hoping my hair could be at least restored. Brittani took the time to explain the different options I had and made it clear that I could get the results I wanted in the first place. With some hope restored, I made an appointment with her. Today, she went over the different swatches with me and took the time to really understand what I wanted. She went to work and voila! Now I have completely light brown hair. Not a bronze blonde, not a dark brown, but actually a light brown (picture on right). I love the results and can't believe I finally have the color I've wanted for about 4 years. I don't think the picture does my color justice. In sum, you can't go wrong with Brittani. She's really talented and will take the time to make sure you get what you want.
